How the Fiasconaro Bakery Makes Its World-Famous Sicilian Panettone for Christmas - Eater

"Fiasconaro Bakery, known for its artisan, naturally leavened, tradition-rich Sicilian panettone, employs traditional methods and local ingredients unique to Sicily, such as manna resin from local ash trees, to produce a variety of panettone that is sold worldwide. The bakery is a destination for tourists visiting Castelbuono and is an integral part of the local community." - Dayna Evans

My favorite place in Sicily. Beautiful mountains, lots of interesting places. In winter you can ski here. In the summer, walking in the mountains, riding a bike, great on motorbikes. Lots of interesting accommodation. Accommodations are often also with a swimming pool. I recommend visiting local restaurants. The people here are kind, accommodation is not expensive... They cook with quality ingredients. A lot of meat, vegetables, pasta and mushrooms are eaten here.

We did an all day tour with Tusatrophy Excursions who we can recommend highly. Seeing the Madonie was an absolute highlight of our visit to Sicily

Modonnie Park is an absolute treasure trove, offering a glimpse of Sicily that will leave you in awe. As you explore its pristine forests and meander through high mountains, you'll discover charming medieval villages dotting the landscape. The biodiversity here is remarkable, with boars, foxes, porcupines, and an array of bird species calling this area home. What's truly remarkable is that all of this natural splendor is just a stone's throw away from the picture-perfect beach and town of Cefalù. Modonnie Park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, offering an unforgettable experience that showcases the best of Sicily's diverse landscapes. Don't miss out on the opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of this hidden gem.

Madonie Mountains presents one of the most suggestive landscapes in Sicily, a small geological world that must be seen and enjoyed unhurriedly. It is also one of the famous mountain eco-systems of the Mediterranean Basin due to the rich diversity of fauna and the considerable interest in its vegetation. The massif of Pizzo Carbonara (a huge block of limestone rock) stands as highest altitude of this range (1979 m) and the second highest of the island, after Muncibeḍḍu (3344m). I really liked this area, not too crowded and bordered by very picturesque villages (Castelbuono, Collesano, Isnello etc.)

Beautiful hike and vistas. We encountered a bit of snow in April. Without snowshoes, this slowed our progress but not our enjoyment. We went up about 2.5 miles from Piano Battaglia. The trail is relatively well marked except when covered by snow. The path is rocky and fairly steep.

Here you will find the Sicily you do not expect, pristine forests covers high mountains spotted with a bunch of lovely medieval villages. Boars, foxes, porcupines, and several specimens of birds call this area home. Of course all of this just a few km away from the postcard beaches surrounding Cefalù and Finale. Do not miss it!
