"North Beach is not a spot we find ourselves in very often before 8 p.m. - but on a nice day, a stroll through Washington Square Park and a brunch reservation at Park Tavern is a great call. And when we see the 45 person line for Mama’s to the left and the 50 person line for Tony’s Pizza to the right, we usually pat ourselves on the back for our judicious daytime reservation-making. It might not be the best sign that one of our favorite things about Park Tavern is that they take reservations, but to be honest, that’s just what you need sometimes for brunch. A two-hour wait for Outerlands is something we only reserve for the most special occasions. Park Tavern, from the crew behind Marlowe, has an extremely similar menu to the SOMA outpost, but the location by the park makes it a little more pleasant and a great spot to grab brunch with the ladies. The Bloody Marys are great, they make some killer toasts and eggs, and the vibe inside is understated fancy - tile floors, dark wood, a classy, marble bar. It feels sort of like a rip-off New York establishment, which we aren’t 100% opposed to. There are antlers on the walls. For being a pretty nice restaurant, the service can be spotty. Last trip there, all our plates came out at different times and drinks were slow every round. With that in mind, Park Tavern is definitely designed for a leisurely, slightly decadent brunch that you aren’t going to rush through. Portions are on the small side, so you might just need another order of avocado toast. Or two. The menu gets expensive at night - and there are too many places to eat dinner in this town - so we tend to stick to the daytime hours, especially because if we plan ahead we can get a table and eat an enjoyable brunch without having to drink five cups of coffee killing time. Because when it’s almost noon on a Sunday, no one wants to wait for an hour and a half to eat carbs and eggs. No one. Food Rundown Toasts Avocado and crab for the table. It’s the right choice. Strawberry, Kiwi, Orange This is a beautiful fruit mountain. Get one. Smoked Deviled Eggs Bacon and eggs in a way cooler way than you’re used to eating them. Really tasty. Polenta Cakes Truffle is catnip for humans. It’s the truth. These cakes with poached eggs, mushrooms and parm are one of our favorite things here. Smoked Salmon Benedict A little small for the price, but excellent. The focaccia it comes with is delightful. Chorizo & Eggs Hearty, as you’d expect. The potatoes are somewhat lacking in crispiness which is a shame. Skillet Baked Eggs Nothing mind-blowing and with just one piece of prosciutto wilting on top. Eh. Marlowe Burger Per Marlowe, a good burger but not life-changing." - Taylor Abrams

Food is really good! I love the diverse menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was really nice and quick! They had extra seating in the basement, which was really cozy!

Google
This place is very close to our office. We came here quite often. Very satisfied with their service, staff are always happy and enthusiastic. The restaurant manager asked about the service almost every time we went. For the food, I love their flatbread and fish&chips the most. Mojito is also recommended. They have outdoor seating areas and looks like a garden. Besides the bar on the lobby floor, they also have a full bar in the basement which is cool and more quiet. One more thing I realized recently is they actually emailed you the survey for your dining experience every time. I personally appreciate how they care about their guests.

This was our first meal after arriving in New York from Vancouver. The food was really good especially the burger of the month. Our server was very friendly and accommodating and the place had a cool atmosphere.

Google
A pet friendly, beautiful lunch spot! We had such great staff and they were so friendly with our dog too. There is indoor and outdoor seating and outdoor has both undercover and exposed seating. So lots of options. It was beautiful to look out and see the cherry blossoms along Park Avenue while we were eating, and overall the food was delicious, no faults - definitely coming back here again. We got the Barata prosciutto flatbread and the hash hangover skillet and shared both of those, and it was enough. Good portion sizes too.

Nice American eating place with great food and a good selection of beer brands. Bit pricy, but hey it‘s Park Ave.

We stopped here for late night drinks and food after a Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden. This was right around the corner from our hotel and we found everything to be quite exceptional. The service and drinks were great, and the food was delicious and served in a timely manner. All in all a great spot for a nice old fashioned and a chicken sandwich!

My server Katie was so fun and gave me such a wonderful experience! I loved her suggestions and the atmosphere of the restaurant was really lovely. All of the workers seemed to love their job and the service was great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here last Saturday the 4th and just wanted to take the time to say how professional, nice, and helpful tommy was to me and my wife. Places need more people like him. Definitely elevated the atmosphere . We will be coming back.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first visit, so there's a lot to comment on. Because it was about as close to perfect a Saturday as you'll see in NY - nice weather, gentle breeze, sunny, comfortable - we sat outside. It's been a long time sicne I've been to this part of NYC, so the literal curbside tables were a nice change to see, with that section of Park Ave. now closed to auto traffic, making for a nice pedestrian only area. I ordered the brunch burger with scrambled eggs and bacon added, while my friend had a Reuben. The burger was excellent; the only mistake I made was subbing the breakfast potatoes for the french fries. My friend had those, and they were a better choice- the fries were perfect, while the breakfst potatoes, though hot and with a nice flavor, lacked the crispness I'd been hiping for from fresh breakfast potatoes from a grill. My mistake. As far as the phyiscal accomodations - the tables for two had ample room for food drinks and acompanments, but the outdoor metal chairs were less comfortable than I'd have preferred, and were not easy to move when trying to slide them on the pavement. The restuarant certainly appears to be doing well enough that they can invest in some outdoor chairs that work better on a sidewalk and pavement.

Yelp
Nice and lively spot for drinks / American food near Grand Central. I got their Burger of the Month ($26), which wasn't actually that special, as it seemed to be a pretty normal burger with gruyere cheese, onions, and baby arugula. It was pretty good though - the cheese was nicely melted, the brioche buns were nice and soft, and the patty was cooked to a proper medium as I requested. The burger also came with a generous amount of fries, which were very standard quality. That being said, I don't really think this was worth the $26. The place itself has a lively environment with a classy yet casual atmosphere. There is plenty of seating inside, as well as a decent amount of outdoor seating by the sidewalk. It was fairly busy when we went for Friday dinner, but we were able to get an outdoor table without a reservation. The staff are fairly friendly and the service speed is average. It was a bit odd that they didn't initially give any ketchup for my fries though - then after asking for it, they just brought me a single tiny container of ketchup (although they were happy to provide more later). Overall, Park Avenue Tavern is a nice spot for a happy hour or casual drinks/food with friends, despite the food being pretty average in quality and slightly on the pricier side compared to similar places.

Yelp
Food 3.5/5.0 Service 3.0/5.0 Value 3.0/5.0 Decor 3.5/5.0 Overall 4.0/5.0 Decent spot near Grand Central. The food is really just okay, but the outdoor seating on Park South is nice if you can get it.

Yelp
Great lunch spot. Good ambiance for a bar/tavern. Quick service. Great food options. Have had the quinoa salad bowl w salmon, fish and chips and club sandwich all good. Give it a try if looking for a spot near gcs.

Jae Y.

Yelp
Had a work breakfast. Was well received and food was good and was nice quiet places to meet to have conversation. Perfect.

Ismary G.

Yelp
Thank you Jason for your smile and amazing service. You made us feel at home. This tavern is so beautiful and quaint both outside and in. The food is great and the service better. It's near Grand central station on beautiful park Avenue. See you when I come back to New York

Linda V.

Yelp
Brunch on the patio was perfection. Food was delicious and drinks were made perfectly.

Yelp
We came here unexpectedly for brunch for two during Christmas Eve when plans at another place fell through. They had a very heated enclosed outdoor space that was really nice. The service was good and the menu was diverse. I had a hot toddy off the menu and my friend got this really pretty purple cocktail. In preparation for heavier holiday meals, I opted for a healthier option. I got the omelette with spinach, tomatoes and onions with a side of salad. It was healthy tasting. My friend got the chorizo hash which tasted good. Overall, not a bad option for brunch if you're in the neighborhood but standard enough where it's not worth it to travel out of your way for this.

Angel M.

Yelp
Hot spot, steak house feel. Inside is dark, moody, high end. Outside (heated and enclosed) seating is more approachable but still very nice. If you want to have a true conversation then select outside. If you want the full ambiance select inside. Service and food are on point. Drinks are delicious and meticulously crafted and served surprisingly fast for how busy this place gets. Wine selection is varied. Menu is smallish but enough range you'll fine something delicious for all tastes. Highly recommend for a good bar experience, date night, business meeting (outside), or something 3 blocks from grand central station.

Dave J.

Yelp
Here's the deal: The restaurant has a variety seating options (outside / inside / bar). Service is polite and attentive. They offer very good staple tavern food and some elevated additions. The lunch specials are worth a try as well. I loved my lamb burger w/ harissa!

Demeka F.

Yelp
This was a cute late night spot for food! They had lots of gluten free options, which was a plus. The wings were good and so were the sandwiches, and gluten free bread was available. The only slight downside here was there was food in my booth seat that I had to wipe off myself, so the both could've been cleaned better and our server wasn't that attentive. My boyfriend's drink was also a little weak. I'd go back again, and I liked the mix of old school music of all genres! Everyone could sing along.

Ameya B.

Yelp
Dropped by for a few beers and a quick bite with my mate, and thoroughly enjoyed ice cold Beer Hug Hazy IPA ($10) - a little on the expensive side of things. Taste though was as good as any Hazy IPA could be. We shared a Margherita Flatbread ($18) - slightly smaller portion - but packed with flavor. Decor was very Christmas-y and noise levels were on the lower end at around 3:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. The place was at about 70% capacity I'd say. Service was good.

Noah C.

Yelp
Grabbed a drink for happy hour here and it was a really nice spot. Friendly bartenders and great drinks, highly recommend.

Debbie T.

Yelp
Came in for a Saturday morning, brunch nice atmosphere. Our server was excellent however we ordered the omelette which included vegetable cheese and choices meat. We ordered him in omelette. We received the omelette. There was no ham! Server went and talked to the chef and she said that the ham was ground. However, there was not one speck of ham ground or invisible flavoring. When you pay $21 for an omelette, you expect to have what you asked for. Nothing fancy nothing extra, just what is supposed to be in the omelette. They did not try to remedy the situation. We won't be back!

Kristen M.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in Manhattan. I love park ave tav! The park burger is amazing. The service is great. The ambiance is perfect. Also amazing martinis here.

Laura M.

Yelp
Recommended by our hotel on our first night in NY. We were not impressed. They had a special burger of the day that was brought out with no toppings, just plain, bun and meat. So we sent it back but my dinner was already out. The manager came out and apologized and said it would be 20 minutes. I was already finished with my meal by the time it was out. They should have taken the late burger off the bill. Hopefully other places in the area will have better food and service.

Charles C.

Yelp
I am very fond of this place for five reasons. 1. It's convenient to GCT so a short hop to the train and midtown. 2. The food is consistently good. It's not fancy so I like the vegan or regular burgers, chicken and salads. Excellent bar. 3 The service is uniformly impeccable. 4. The setting is nice if you get inside. Skip the enclosed street tables. 5. The tab is fair for Park Avenue. One word of caution is it's nearly impossible to get reservations for larger gatherings. That being the case they will work with you with sufficient lead time.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Wow! Truly a NYC hidden gem. The fact that this place can be a late night spot and an early morning spot is awesome -- truly rare. (serving dinner til 1am, then start breakfast at 7am) Came here late night after a class with 1 other person and they allowed us to sit in a booth which is usually for parties of 3+. We had the Spinach & Artichoke dip for an appetizer which was HOT and it came with pita bread -- 11/10!!! The other entrees were served hot and fresh as well. Quickly became a new favorite spot based on taste alone. They have a cute outdoor seating area, and inside was spacious as well. Then we discovered an entire downstairs area! This included another full bar for catering, and very clean bathrooms.

Al R.

Yelp
Park Avenue Tavern did not disappoint. A recommendation from a friend, ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Went for the food, but we were captured by the amazing ambiance and wonderful service. The buffalo wings were a hit around the table, we ended up getting another order. The spinach and artichoke dip was nothing short of incredible. You will not want to miss this dish. Overall, great time!

Sally B.

Yelp
I'm not sure you could get in here without a reservation, so plan ahead. It's worth it! My waiter recommended the burger and she did not steer me wrong. It was easily within the top three burgers I've ever had (the other two were in Michigan) and I'm old! Tasty yam fries. Tasty cocktail. Nice side salad. The high top table in the bar area is a weird height... or maybe the stool is too short. I got used to it though. As others have noted, it can be quite loud inside.

Yuki N.

Yelp
I wasn't sure how busy this place is so I reserved at 11:45 on a weekday and checked in on time. The place didn't have many patrons until 12:15 p.m., so I would suggest making a reservation if you come in here after 12:30ish. The outside seating has a roof, so even if it's raining, it would be fine. The place has a good ambiance, and the servers were nice. The service was pretty quick too. We ordered a smoked turkey sandwich and a grilled chicken wrap. The menu says it comes with either salad or fries so we picked salad. However, another server brought the sandwich with fries and told us this item always comes with fries, so we were a little confused. Fortunately, our server passed by and quickly exchanged the fries for salad which was appreciated. A decent amount of smoked turkey was loaded and went well with the pretzel bun and brie cheese. The grilled chicken wrap was a little underseasoned and smaller than what I expected from the price (like $20). I opted out of promotion emails when making a reservation, but two survey emails arrived a day later, which I felt unnecessarily.

Yelp
Visited for brunch and enjoyed the warm ambiance, enhanced by Christmas decorations and outdoor heaters. The brunch burritos, French toast, tomato soup, and avocado toast with eggs were delicious, especially the vinaigrette's unique flavor. The drinks were a mixed bag: American iced coffee and lattes were average, and the lack of fresh orange juice was a slight letdown. Despite this, the beautiful street view added to the overall pleasant experience. The service was professional and timely. A great spot for a cozy, flavorful brunch!

Mark M.

Yelp
As always, great food and service. Today I switched things up and had the tuna poke bowl. All fresh, delicious, absolutely recommend it if you want a light-ish meal! Great spot to meet friends or clients for any meal and/or drinks.

Brian M.

Yelp
Service was very attentive, ambiance has certain charm, but the food was very underwhelming.

Eric D.

Yelp
I came in around 7:30 and it was just me and had no problem getting a table on a Saturday night. I was able to look over the menu well before my waiter came and they were able to help me with some choices I had to make. It's pretty loud, like any tavern / pub / bar can be. I started with the flatbread and it wasn't SUPER filling but that and a salad could for sure be more than enough for someone. Great flavor and the crust wasn't too soft or too crunchy. I was told the burger is the thing to get. So I got a tavern burger and if I'm going to be honest I was a little underwhelmed. It could have used lettuce and tomato to help cut the salt of the Gorgonzola cheese, which made the whole thing very salty on its own. If you get it with fries ask for extra ketchup. I barely tasted the "aioli" that was given on the burger but at least it didn't take away from the meat. It was cooked a little more done than I asked for but not so bad as it was chewy or anything bad. It's worth a spot if you need food and you are stuck near Grand Central Station

Doug W.

Yelp
Nice for a neighborhood pub, but not quite as nice if you're viewing it as something a little more ... "prestigious" Burger comes a la cart and is a tad salty but I liked that. Somehow two burgers a whiskey root beer and the addition of bacon came to 70-$75 so I doubt it would ever really be worth it to go here instead of annnnnywhere else Still liked the spot though; wanted to go for a while.

Steve S.

Yelp
Delicious burger, fries, and man cheese. While working late one night I needed some dinner. I checked Yelp, they were close and recommended. Placed my order online very easily and then picked it up. I want to go back and sit down and really enjoy the atmosphere next time.

Ana R.

Yelp
Amazing experience, the staff was very nice and attentive . The fish and chips are to die for and the drinks are always flowing and on point . Definitely coming back for a girls night

Ashley A.

Yelp
Prosciutto flatbread was so yum and the aperol spritz was solid. Good vibes, super busy. Love it here

Brian O.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner while in town. I had Rueben and a beer. The place was very busy. Great atmosphere, nice seating and clean. Food was decent didn't wow me. Thought some dishes were a little pricey. It is on Park ave though.

Brandon C.

Yelp
I had a great dinner here with a friend while in town for business. I got the chicken Caesar salad and was very pleased. The size was perfect, it tasted great and wasn't too pricey. We split the sweet potato fries which were really good. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was fun and in a great location.

Ali S.

Yelp
PAT is on my list of places I have to go to when I go to NYC. Right up there with a Times Square and Central Park. This place is solid. Great vibes, amazing food, and in a great location. It hustles and bustles. We got the burgers which came with fries. It's located very close to Grand Central so you will have plenty of opportunity to come by. Add it to your list!

Charlie H.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch while in NYC had a great lunch the flatbread was more than enough for 2 people.

Britni R.

Yelp
Amazing night at Park Ave Tavern! We got some apps and a bottle of wine and enjoyed their outdoor seating! Shout out to all of the staff as they were so attentive and made our night fantastic! Blaise was the manager on duty and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time. Elex, Quincy and Ramiro were also on point! Would definitely recommend!

Art M.

Yelp
One of our favorite spots to visit in NYC. Good food, homie feel, and fun atmosphere. The waiting staff is really nice and welcoming. Prices are a bit high but that's comparing prices to how we're used to them in the Texas. Worth making a reservation but they're accommodating for walkin's as well!

Paige H.

Yelp
I had the prosciutto flatbread and it was very good. Great service. Good price. I would recommend.

A C.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood place we frequent regularly. Most of the time the services are good especially during lunch/brunch time. Food is ok as well. Love their espresso martini!! We just had a terrible encounter recently. Stopped by for a drink one evening. Was not greeted at all by the hostess. We were Ignored as if we didn't exist. They looked young so I thought maybe they were new and feeling overwhelmed?! But this at the door encounter was so terrible we left feeling disrespected. They were talking to us but looking somewhere else the whole time. Told us to step aside. They never said hello or welcome or any kind of acknowledgement. Really?! No suggestions or helpful accommodations. Just leave attitude. Completely rude to return customers. Perhaps some hospitality industry training would help. Good luck. Would not be back.

Kent V.

Yelp
Came here for dinner after being in the area at Grand Central. It was a Tuesday evening and the place was pretty full. Didn't have reservations but got seated at a table in the back of the restaurant. The food and service were good here. Prices were very reasonable for NYC standards. I had the mezcal margarita and it was good! Def. recommend this if you are mezcal person. To eat I had the comeback chicken $29 - Roasted chicken w/ pepper jack, jalapeño tequila sauce, rice, black beans, pico de gallo. This was delicious. Good mixture of ingredients and the sauce was really good. My brother had the park avenue burger and for $16 he was impressed. We got fries on the side which were yummy. Overall, great spot to grab dinner and drinks at. Lots of people at the bar. Place was lively and reminded me that NYC is back to normal!

Trina B.

Yelp
Super welcoming. Lovely ambiance. A quiet spot just south of Grand Central. We enjoyed a delicious brunch!

Robert K.

Yelp
We were a party of 11 to celebrate my wife's birthday. We arrived just before 3 and were told the kitchen was closed but we could order drinks & dips. A large party is never easy, but we were taken care of well. Everyone was more than satisfied with their food choices and the service. And when I told the waitperson, that it was my wife's birthday, she came out with a dessert with a candle. And you didn't charge for that dessert... a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend Park Ave Tavern.

Allyssa P.

Yelp
Typical tavern. Really nothing special but the location of "Park Ave." My husband and I dined in Friday morning and were bummed to find out they only serve breakfast on the weekends. So we opted for sharing apps and an entree. The calamari was really good. Fried perfectly and I loved the grilled lemon. The burrata was delicious! I loved the sauce and medley that was served with on top of the cheese. I do wish we were given more bread for the large cheese portion. The steak & frites were okay. The steak was a perfect medium rare but the cut was super chewy. The flavor was also lacking. It could've used a compote butter or something. I don't like that they sliced and plated the meat either. The juice was pouring out of the meat and ended up sitting at the bottom of the plate which made the fries a bit soggy. Would we dine? Probably not. But it was a nice lunch with good service.

Ikenna N.

Yelp
The food here is so great here. The bartender Adva is the best. Such a good time and great drinks.

Robin t.

Yelp
So disappointed with our experience here. When we walked in, the rudest hostess I've ever encountered gave us an exasperated sigh when we asked for a table on Friday night at 10pm. There were plenty of available tables, but we stood there for 10 minutes waiting for her to stop chatting with a coworker. We were finally seated at a dirty table with no menus or silverware. I politely asked for both, and the hostess rolled her eyes. Five minutes later, still nothing. Then she literally said "why don't you just sit at the bar?" What?? A half hour later we ordered two burgers, medium rare, and some drinks. Well, the burgers came out WELL DONE, and we had to track down a busboy to get silverware and ketchup. By the time the ketchup arrived, our burgers were cold. I hope that management speaks to the hostess who was working on Friday July 19th. She made our experience truly miserable, and spent most of her time looking at her phone and begrudgingly doing the bare minimum.

Neisha M.

Yelp
Stopped in here for an early dinner before taking a night cruise. It was not packed and we sat at the bar. I ordered a chicken burger and a spicy margarita, my bf had a pastrami sandwich and a beer and my friend had the tacos and a margarita. The bartender was attentive and my burger was very good. Good place to grab and drink and some grub and shelter from the cold!

Gary R.

Yelp
Lots of positive energy at lunchtime. Very nice outside dining with heaters. Attentive service. Craft cocktails were a plus. Enjoyed the mussels and clams in a curried broth. Excellent people and vehicle watching.

Clarissa L.

Yelp
We decided last minute to try this restaurant as it was close to our hotel (Kitano Hotel). It was such a good call too because the food was amazing!!! We started with the Burrata appetizer and each had a drink. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my husband had a Park Ave Pimm's Cup- this drink had a really refreshing taste- gin, cucumber, mint. For the entrees we ordered steak frites and the salmon. Both were fantastic but I have to admit my husband's steak was definitely better. Cooked to literal perfection at medium rare with a piece of grilled rosemary on top. His side was fries. The salmon came with butternut squash and rice- it was such a great flavor combination- savory and sweet. We were too full for dessert but I would absolutely recommend this spot for dinner! There didn't seem to be a dress code but most people did look dressed up. It had a classy bar/tavern feel to it.

Patrick D.

Yelp
Showed up for a bit to eat and some drinks while out on the streets. The first place we showed up to was full with an hour wait due to NFL games on TV. This places had TV's at the bar and had plenty of room. All the employees were warm and welcoming. Prices were average for the location. Music was on the old side of things. I'd come back again. I came with a party of three.

Alastair M.

Yelp
Well we swung into this "highly" well reviewed establishment for a drink before we left New York, just a stones throw from our hotel and were not disappointed. We were blessed to have Fransisco as our Bar Tender and he was nothing short of great. Personality, ability and pride, all in one. Salud! We will be back, and hope others will get the chance as well.
