I love weekend staycations!
When I heard about the opening of Park James Hotel, a new posh boutique hotel that's also dog friendly, I knew a visit was in order.
I found a great rate online for their second opening week and booked a Superior King Room.
However, after talking with concierge who told me the suite was 3x bigger, I decided to upgrade to the King Suite for an extra $100. No regrets! I'm SO glad I upgraded...
(+) Welcoming, friendly staff.
(+) Posh, modern, and luxury accommodations.
(+) The King Suite was large and well-appointed with a gorgeous ornate chandelier, large 65 inch screen tv, plushy leather chairs, Frette linens, courtyard view, and separate closet and wet bar area.
(+) Love that they provide Davines toiletries, a family-owned company that produces high end, sustainable hair and body products. It's very lightly scented and leaves your hair so soft.
(+) Large shower with good temperature and water pressure.
(+) Complimentary pastries in the morning (starting at 7 am). I didn't try since I'm intermittent fasting but who doesn't love free food?!
(+) Great craft cocktails and pretty good tapas at their hotel restaurant, Oak + Violet (review to come). Love the beautiful courtyard with fire pits. It was cracking on a Saturday night.
(+) On site spa with in-room massage available. I didn't know they offered spa services until I was browsing through their iPad but next time I will. A 1 hour Swedish Massage for $120 is fair for an upscale hotel.
(+) Dog-friendly!!!! Kindly consider offering dog bowls, dog bed, and/or dog treats for furguests.
(-) All suites only have a Murphy (pull out) bed which was cute but the mattress wasn't comfy. Minus 1 star.
(-) Weak and spotty WiFi, it ranged from 1-2 bars in my room. There's an iPad for room service, cleaning, etc and it took several tries to submit a request.
Other notes:
*$25 valet (request your car through iPad). I easily found street parking around the corner.
*No Q-tips or cotton balls so bring your own.
I enjoyed my stay at James Park Hotel and despite just being open for only 2 weeks, they're running pretty smoothly.
I usually stay at Nobu The Epiphany or Garden Court Hotel in Downtown Palo Alto but will definitely add James Park Hotel to my weekend staycation rotation in Silicon Valley!
