Parklife is the ultimate hangout in Gowanus, blending a spacious, outdoor bar vibe with crafty cocktails, a diverse taco menu, and fun events.
"There is no cooler place to hang out in the summer than Parklife — presumably named after the great Blur album. Over the years it has undergone several transformations of the menu in its graveled, fenced yard, and the current menu incorporates Tex Mex and Persian flavors, via chef Scott Koshnoodi. Included are such things as octopus tacos with smoked lentils, and a chicken taco with yogurt." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff
"Parklife is a tiny bar with a big outdoor area. It’s about the size and shape of the lot that your apartment building sits on, and, as the name suggests, it does sort of feel like a park. There are a bunch of picnic tables and some patio furniture, and, on a nice day, it’s a pretty ideal place for a mellow hang with about seven (or more) friends. There’s also a little taqueria from the people behind El Atoradero inside, and they do tacos, burritos, and a version of nachos with fries instead of chips. It isn’t our favorite Mexican spot in the city, but if you’re drinking, it’ll do just fine." - team infatuation
"The name of this Gowanus spot alone should indicate to you that enjoyable things happen outdoors here. Along with serving a menu of cocktails and tacos, they host movie, trivia, and bingo nights in their backyard a few times a week. In the past they’ve screened things like Black Panther, Oscar-nominated animated shorts, Edward Scissorhands, and a few horror flicks for Halloween like Shaun Of The Dead and the presidential debates. There’s no ticket charge for any of the events (although food and drink purchases are required). This summer, starting on July 6 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Parklife will be showing movies every Wednesday night at 9pm. (Day-of reservations and some walk-ins are accepted.) Check out the schedule here. " - hannah albertine, kenny yang
"This sprawling Gowanus bar and restaurant with a 4,000-square-foot patio is from the team behind nearby Littlefield. Head here for ample tables and benches, a food menu of tacos and tlacoyos, and a weekly virtual trivia night on Tuesdays." - Eater Staff
"Parklife has reopened with a new menu featuring Texan and Persian culinary traditions, such as barbacoa tacos topped with yogurt and grilled steak in fried masa. The bar also offers outdoor movie nights and weekly movie trivia on Wednesdays." - Luke Fortney
