The 13 Best New Restaurants in Orange County, California | Eater LA

"Top Chef alum and Michelin honored Carlos Gaytán opened a trio of dining concepts at Downtown Disney District. Céntrico and Tiendita are more casual, with easy Mexican lunch dishes or takeaway tacos. The two-story Paseo, with its sleek dining room and picturesque circular staircase designed by Jorge Gracia of GraciaStudio, is the jewel of the three. Executive chef Rudy Lopez oversees the kitchens in Anaheim, while Gaytán tends to his growing restaurant footprint, which includes Tzuco in Chicago. At Paseo, steamed lamb barbacoa is marinated in orange and avocado leaves. A raw bar offers sharable Yucatán ceviche with achiote aguachile, mango habanero gelee, and fried plantains for crunch." - Jenn Tanaka

The 15 Hottest New Restaurants in Los Angeles, July 2024

"Lauded chef Carlos Gaytán, who used to run a Michelin-starred modern Mexican restaurant in Chicago, has opened a trio of spots in the newly resurgent Downtown Disney District (for example, Din Tai Fung opened a splashy new location there). On the top floor, Paseo serves a stylish set of upscale Mexican dishes like Yucatán-style cochinita pibil, chicharrón de pescado (deep-fried red snapper), and blue corn masa tlacoyos that would be the ideal cap to a day at one of Disney’s theme parks. — Matthew Kang, lead editor" - Eater Staff

"Paseo offers a full-service modern Mexican experience with dishes inspired by chef Gaytán’s previous restaurant Tzuco, including steamed lamb barbacoa, tuna ceviche, and chicharrón de pescado. The menu is about 50 percent Tzuco, featuring his mother’s cochinita pibil." - Bill Esparza

For a nice dinner and quick reservations the day of. The food didn't disappoint, we saw the fireworks and the staff was extremely nice. Our waiter was quick and even provided great recommendations. My party had a great time and our kids even fell asleep. The pictures tell you our experience and I would absolutely go again.

Absolutely amazing restaurant!! This is one of those places where it's hard to say what's better the food or the service. We have been a few times and always perfect! Aida was one of the best servers we've ever had, very attentive and kind. Also Ricardo was very friendly and warm. But all foh staff were amazing even bussers, food runners, server assistants, and the manager were touching tables, really made us feel the hospitality! The food is always on point! Our favs are the mussels, hamachi ceviche, cauliflower, and chicken mole. But literally everything we've tried has been worth coming back. Reserve a table tonight and the rest is smooth sailing! You don't have to be on vacation, just chill out, relax, and enjoy. Highly recommend. The price is worth the experience 😊

Google
I’m disappointed. Not by the overall food or drink experience but by the dismissive attitude of our waiter at the end of our $225 meal. Two adults and two children were at the table with only 2 alcoholic drinks. We accrued a reasonably decent check, yet for the first time in my life at a Mexican restaurant, I was charged for 3 additional flour tortillas (which came in a wrapped up napkin). After inquiring about the $4 charge for the extra tortillas, the waiter returned with the check, tossed it on the table turned, and said nothing. If you’re gonna nickle and dime people for extra tortillas on a $54 short rib dish, and a total of $225 for the meal before tip, at the very least, be pleasant, say thank you and don’t just toss the check on the table and leave. We won’t be back out of the principle of how we were treated at the end of the meal by the waiter.

Food was soooo delicious! Their margarita clásico is amazing; kinda tastes like a lemonade. I got tlayuda and was soo yummy omggg. Guacamole and chips, delicious as well. Our server was Juan B. He was very kind and showed great service! Definitely give this restaurant a try.

Paseo in Downtown Disney Anaheim is a MUST-VISIT! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 stars! The food is AMAZING and the view from the second floor is simply stunning! 🌴👌 Perfect spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the sights and sounds of Downtown Disney. Highly recommend the cochinita and chile

The service is super nice, restaurant has a beautiful look, very clean and amazing food! Will definitely be going here again when we are at Disneyland! I had their enchiladas and Brussels sprouts! I loved the enchiladas so much! The brussel sprouts were a little too salty for me but still good! Guacamole tasted fresh and delicious! We also had the dessert in the picture, I forgot the name but it was DELICIOUS!!

My family and I recently dined here for dinner, and it was a pleasant and delicious experience. Having been to Centrico and Tiendita, I knew we'd enjoy Paseo's more relaxed setting, inspired cuisine, and drinks. It is excellent for all party sizes—solos, couples, and large families. • Food 4.5/5 - Great overall, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. • Ambiance 5/5 - Elegant dining mood with good lighting and accents during dinner. • Service 5/5 - We've been served by Rudy and Hannah, and they were great as well with the rest of the staff. • Value 3.5/5 - Disney resort prices, but don't let that steer you away from an experience. • Magic Key pass holder discounts also apply • Reservations recommended Starters we've enjoyed include: Shrimp Aguachile (ceviche), Fresh Oysters, Mayan Ceviche, Steak Tartare, and Guacamole with crispy pork belly. For drinks, we enjoyed many of the well-made house cocktails. I tried the La Brisa-Rita, a refreshing non-alcoholic tequila base with fresh ingredients. For my main entrée, I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas, which came with three enchiladas with various toppings and sauces. It was a delicious dish, and the portion was right for me. My family also enjoyed Mama's Cochinita Pibil, featuring tender pork shank and flavorful Lamb Barbacoa, as well as Carne Asada cooked to your liking. The Chile Relleno is another recent favorite. We also shared beans, rice, and esquites (a corn dish) as sides. The rice and beans were good, but the corn was okay. The flavors were there, but the corn's texture was off. It was as if too much of the rind was mixed in, resulting in a "grainy" texture. For dessert, we ordered the Cacao and Pavlova. Both were decadent, but my favorite was the Cacao, with its nice texture and the right amount of chocolatey sweetness. The Pavlova, with its passion fruit filling and meringue shell, had nice textures, but it was too sweet for me. Paseo is a nice treat if you're visiting the resorts and want Mexican-inspired cuisine and a relaxed experience, compared to what's offered in the DTD area. Overall, a solid 4.5 rating.

Google
Great dining experience from service to food and ambiance. The beet salad was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat and the octopus was amazing. The pavlova was the best dessert of the three.

Yelp
The service was amazing. Our server, Rudy, was very attentive, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed at any moment from the moment he introduced himself. The food was delicious, larger serving than expected, which is also good in my opinion. The ambiance of the environment was very cozy, although it can get chilly outside on a colder day.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've come to Downtown Disney to walk around and eat. The amount of renovations the area has undergone has taken some time; however, extremely worthwhile! Paseo is a standout of these renovations. Although the colors may be neutral, the flavors are vibrant! Moreover, the service is unmatched. I had the pleasure of being served by Avelino, who was eager to provide assistance while also giving his personal insights of certain menu items. I don't think my experience here would have been as satisfying had it not been for Avelino. Come check out Paseo and if you're lucky enough, hopefully you'll be greeted by Avelino!

Yelp
Randy was the best ever. Very nice and professional. Love his attitude and was very knowledgeable of the menu. Brought a lot of laughter to the table. Definitely had a great time. Will Come again !

Yelp
Paseo has become one of my favorite restaurants inside the Disneyland Resort for good reason, the staff, food and ambiance is amazing. Everyone is so kind welcoming. The carne asada plate is so well done, very tender and soft even when ordering it well done or medium well. The potatoes are soft and crispy at the same. Although I didn't care for the cheese sauce. The enchiladas are creamy soft and filled with chicken The best thing on this menu has the be the caco very traditional Mexican chocolate and ice cream with a sponge mouse . This is the dish that keeps bringing me back and something that everyone has to try !

Delicious food and great service! Excited for our next visit and thank you so much Rudy for everything!

Yelp
We reserved this restaurant for our company offsite and were seated right away--such a smooth and seamless experience! We went all in on appetizers (probably more than we should have), but no regrets because everything was incredible. The queso was hands down the standout--simple yet absolutely perfect, especially when paired with the warm, crusty bread. The beef tartare was rich and flavorful, the oysters were fresh and briny, and the octopus was tender with just the right amount of char. For entrées, we ordered a variety of dishes, but the lamb definitely surprised me the most--it was perfectly cooked, tender, and not gamey at all, which can be hard to find! From start to finish, the food and service were top-notch. If you're in Downtown Disney, this spot is a must-visit!

Yelp
Has a fantastic birthday dinner here. I ordered lamb barbacoa which has great flavor though, I thought it would have a more traditional barbacoa sauce. Should've checked Yelp pics again, lol. My daughter loved her Yucatán fish dish. We both loved the guacamole and chips appetizer and the classic margarita and other drink that looked like paloma by a whole different name, lol. Oh, it was the Dove Dope. Service was excellent and the birthday ice cream was a nice touch. I stuffed myself so much!!!!

Yelp
Catal had a good run but after 2 years, Paseo has moved in and smoothly took its place. It's a great location in the middle of DTD and still has that great view if you're sitting outside. Great for birthdays, date nights or just a nice dinner with great food option. - $18 Fresh made guac & chips - $17 Queso fundido (gruyere fondue w roasted mushrooms & chorizo) - $39 Mama's cochinta pibil (pork shank marinated in guajillo peppers & pineapple vinegar) - $54 Short ribs in guajillo & ancho - $27 Mejillones (clams in saffron beurre blanc) Chips and FUNdido were a delicious start to the meal. The little charred bits of slightly spicy chorizo were as Disney goes...a surprise and delight. The pork shank was fork tender and the pickled onions were paired perfectly with the savory sauced meat. The short ribs were equally delicious and cooked perfectly. Equally well executed! Our server, Avelino, was always present when needed for our table of 8. Questions on the menu, allergy concerns, requests for chips, drinks...he was on top of his game! Highly recommend if you want a nicer dinner experience with less Park distractions & over stimulation.

Yelp
First time to try this place after a day at California Adventure park. The place was very chic. No wait and seated up in the balcony right away. Our server Rudy was really attentive. Great personality. The food was amazing. We started with appetizer Tuna ceviche , grilled octopus and chips with pork belly guacamole. All of it was tasty , cooked to perfection. Lyonnaise Salad was so refreshing and the crispiness of the endives were mouthwatering. The Lamb barbarcola was superb. The meat was braised that the meat fall from the bone. The refried beans was a great additional protein. The corn with coconut esquite tasted fresh . Loved that we have view of Downtown Disney. Be back

Yelp
I really didn't think I would enjoy Paseo too much as most "trendy" pricier Mexican inspired food places usually let me down BUT this place is great! I'm an Annual Passholder so I would always see Paseo when walking through Downtown Disney and I loved the vibe of the upper outside seating. Got lucky with a 5 pm Saturday night reservation because as I tried to get a later time checking the app, there was nothing avail in the block of 1 pm to 9 pm. So we stuck with 5 pm and it was perfect. Checked in at the booth downstairs, then a few min later we were told to go upstairs and check-in with the team there. They seated us right away at a 4 top upstairs on the patio - yay! Exactly what we wanted. It was sunset time, the weather was amazing and the employees at Paseo were the best! Made us feel very welcome. Ordered a couple of cocktails, yummy and gorgeous. Then got the chips and salsa with 3 different salsa flavors, the habanero one was way to hot for me. The chips were made fresh. For dinner I had the Rajas with Queso and the Pork Belly Boa tacos. My BF got the Pork Shank. My goodness the food is good here! My dish came with 3 tacos, I could only eat one, I got so full with the Rajas. Great flavors, great portions, and price was not shocking haha. Definitely recommend this dining experience.

Yelp
Had to check out the new restaurant that replaced Catal, and I have to say the food did not disappoint! Catal used to be one of my go to spots to eat in downtown Disney, so I was sad to see it go, but excited for what was to come. I didn't even look at the menu for Paseo ahead of time because I knew that I wanted to try it. We were seated shortly after our reservation time, but it did take nearly 20 minutes for a server to come to our table once we were seated. I ended up asking somebody if our server would be by soon, so I'm not sure how long we would've waited if we had asked. Once we did receive service, the service was good, but we did consider walking out since we had been left waiting for so long when all the other tables around us were receiving service. That part was a bit disappointing, but it wouldn't prevent me from coming here again. I believe everyone gets a second chance. Food wise, everything was delicious! We shared the queso fundido, beet salad, Chile relleno, and black beans. Honestly, I loved everything, but the beet salad was amazing so were the black beans. I know maybe that sounds silly that one of my standout favorite things were beans, but having really tasty beans I feel like is hard to come by. The dessert menu did look good, but we didn't order dessert because we were pretty full. The restaurant itself wasn't too loud, the layout was really nice as well. It was a bit on the dark side, but the tables did have little lamp which helped.

Yelp
OVERALL : Paseo is a new restaurant that opened up in DTD serving upscale Mexican food. They have both Brunch and Dinner menus, and their restaurant has a bar serving up a nice variety of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. The ambiance is modern and upscale, with an upstairs balcony area overlooking the hustle and bustle of DTD. Our server was friendly, and service / food was prompt on a Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed the ambiance, but I felt that I had slightly higher hopes for some of the food given the price point and location. I would give them another try for Dinner though, to see if I have different thoughts on the dinner menu items! PARKING : This restaurant is located in Downtown Disney, so we parked at the Simba lot (Downtown Disney Parking Lot). It does fill up especially during the holiday season so come early or be prepared to make a few rounds to find parking! The restaurant does validate parking which helps a lot with the cost! FOOD/DRINKS : Chips and Guacamole - This was DELICIOUS! The chips were fresh and warm still, and the guacamole was the perfect ratio of acidity + creaminess. It def tasted fresh and went so well with the chips. Great amount too so I didn't feel like I had to ration out my guac with each bite. Paseo Waffles - Duck Leg Carnitas, Sweet Potato Purée, Brussels Sprouts, Poached Egg, Chipotle Tamarind Glaze -- The waffle was substantial and I appreciated the unique flavors of the tamarind glaze + sweet potato puree mixed with the syrup and waffles. The Brussel Sprouts were roasted (yum!) and the egg was nicely done with a runny yolk. I had high hopes for the duck carnitas since it was the main protein of this dish, but unfortunately it was pretty tough / dry and I wasn't able to get many bites out of it. I ended up eating mostly just the waffle w the egg and Brussel sprouts, which did not make this dish worth it for me. Quesbirria Tacos - Fresh Corn Tortilla, Lamb Birria, Oaxaca Cheese, Avocado Mousse, Cilantro, Red Onion, Consommé  -- I felt like this was a little on the drier side unfortunately and there wasn't much consommé to dip. This was also pretty steep in price for 2 tacos. Chilaquiles - Tortilla Chips, Salsa Verde, Pico de Gallo, Fried Egg, Sour Cream, Queso Fresco, Avocado [Made without Gluten] For an additional cost, add Flank Steak or Chicken Barbacoa -- We added Flank Steak for an additional charge. The steak was actually tender and cooked medium rare as we had requested. The chips went well with all the other ingredients and soaked everything up! Crunchy yet saucy at the same time. This was def the fav entree out of the 3 we got!

Yelp
Before driving back home, we decided to spend our last morning at Disney, having brunch at Paseo. At 9am Sunday, it wasn't crowded at all even though I made reservations just in case. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious and airy. If you want to sit outside, there's a large patio overlooking Downtown Disney. You can see everyone chaotically scurrying over to get to the parks while relaxing having a coffee and enjoying an appetizer. Avelino was our waiter. He was very friendly, kind and made helpful suggestions, but I already looked at the menu beforehand and had my heart set on the duck leg carnitas over a sweet potato purée. It was served with fluffy waffles, covered in well cooked Brussel sprouts and served with sweet maple syrup. It was delicious and I felt like it was a trifecta of savory, salty and sweet in that order. My husband enjoyed the Mama's Cochinita pibil. The pork lamb shank was tender and filling especially when you enveloped it in the homemade corn tortillas. The pineapple vinegar and slow-braising in banana leaves contributed to the tenderness and flavoring. The black bean purée was light and complemented the dish well! My friend ordered the Tlayuda. She said she always orders the chilaquiles or huevos rancheros, and I'm guilty of doing the same, but we both wanted to order something we don't usually get. The Tauyluda had black bean purée, avocado mousse, fried eggs, cecina, chorizo, pork belly, salsa macha, oaxaca cheese, all served in a crispy corn tortilla. Our waiter likened the dish to that of a breakfast pizza to put it simply. This was a nice alternative to huevos rancheros and chilaquiles! I did take our waiter, Avelino's, suggestion of one of their drink specials, coffee with Kahlúa and tequila. It was smooth and a fun way to start the morning. If you're looking for a lazy Sunday morning, I would recommend it! We all really enjoyed Paseo and would love to return the next time we're in Disneyland or passing through Downtown Disney!

Yelp
Making reservations and seating was quick and easy. We had upstairs patio dining. The weather was pleasant. I ordered Chilaquiles with flank steak medium rare. It was delicious. The quesabirria tacos was also another great choice. We added some sides: Brussel sprouts, rice, and black beans. All seasoned nicely and full of flavor. Drink choices: Cafe with baileys. I forget the exact name but it was strong. Unsweetened; so we requested additional sweetener and adjusted to our liking. The snowman for dessert! Presentation was great! It was so good and well balanced with the Rosemary ice cream and crumbles and the white chocolate covered cake.

Yelp
Hands down, best dinner In downtown Disney! After a long day at Disneyland we landed at Paseo. Everyone was a bit hangry. We ordered chips and guacamole immediately and let me tell you, the guacamole was some of the best I've ever had. The staff was very attentive smiling waters and making sure we had everything we needed. And the restaurant itself is really classy inside. The cocktails were tasty, the food was delicious. My toddler even ate her whole quesadilla which she almost never does. I am gluten free and seeing so many gluten free options was amazing for me. I ordered the carne asada and the octopus and both were delicious! I would definitely come back to Paseo again.

Yelp
Whenever I think of theme park and food, there's only two words that come to mind. They are expensive and overrated. However, Disneyland and Disneyworld has both unexpectedly surprised me with their restaurant offers. On my trip to Disneyland this year, my husband booked this restaurant since many were already out. I'm happy he was able to reserve this place though because I can happily say it's one of my top restaurants this trip. But let's backtrack a little. We were running a little late ( our reservation was 6:45 but had only made it to the parking lot at that time). While my husband was finding parking, we had a friend bum rush there first to explain our situation (they had a 20 minute wait window). When we finally made it to the restaurant, it was probably 7:10 but was reassured it'll be fine. We're so grateful for that :) Once seated, our waitress came and dropped off some waters and menu. We were seated outdoors with some lighting so it was a bit hard to see. Thankfully the wait staff brought us a little light and we were able to pick our food to share! We ordered a few apps which included the mussels, mushroom, octopus & tuna ceviche. The mussels were so good and it came with bread to dip into the broth. But my favorite was the mushrooms! For our main entrees, we got the short rib and enchiladas de pollo. The short rib was so tender and the chicken enchiladas were great! We also had a side of brussel sprouts and esquites. Overall loved my experience here and I'm sure if you come, you will too.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised to find such an accommodating service team for me, my, wife, and our 3-Month Old in a Stroller. We took the elevator up one floor and were perched just at the edge of the inside but could overlook into the hustle and bustle of downtown disney and holiday lights below. Seeing that we were not too hungry we decided to share two appetizers and one main dish. That would be 1/2 Dozen Oysters, Queso Fundido, and the Yucatán Fish. Cheese lovers rejoice and don't hesitate in getting the Queso Fundido. We enjoyed that dish the most. Thank you to our server, John, especially for making us comfortable and keeping us refilled with water. All in all, excellent spot to have an upper feel dining experience.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant and would highly recommend it to others. The food was truly amazing! I ordered the tlayuda and gave it a 7.5/10. The Oaxaca cheese is usually my favorite, though I was hoping for a stronger flavor; nonetheless, the dish was enjoyable, and I particularly loved the beans. I also tried the shrimp aguachile, which I wished had a bit more spice, but the shrimp were impressively large, even if there weren't many of them. On top of the delicious food, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even more pleasant. The restaurant itself has a modern and fancy vibe that I really appreciated. Plus, the prices seemed quite reasonable given the quality of the dishes. Overall, it was a lovely outing!

Yelp
This place is absolutely stunning. I'm obsessed with the decor. The food was so good! I loved the guacamole, I didn't see til after I ordered that there were mix in options so I wish I could have tried that. We got the pulpo which I liked, not too chewy which is how I prefer it. The oysters were also good. We got the short ribs and the pibil. The meat was so tender and tasty! I just wish that they gave more than 3 tortillas because there is a lot of meat for just three tortillas lol. More tortillas is an extra charge. Rudy, our server, was so sweet and funny! My family and I received some pretty bad news during our dinner but Rudy's kindness cheered us up. His service definitely added to our experience. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Yelp
Paseo Anaheim - Downtown Disney, Disneyland, CA We are here with family so we're pretty open to where we eat, figuring we can find something to eat pretty much wherever we go. As y'all can no doubt relate, the places you end up when eating with family might be somewhat different than if you were simply feeding your vegan selves I'll start by saying the ambiance is really nice, very bright and expressive environment. Although they did have items labeled as vegetarian, the vegan options were sparse, I'll tell you that right off the bat. This was further exasperated by the fact that at the very bottom of their menu it says "[ask about vegan options]". Maybe it's just me but there's an expectation of sorts that if such a disclaimer exists, then it's implied that some hearty vegan options, one or two at least, would be available, that wasn't really the case though ... I'll explain. The only vegan options available were the vegetarian bean options, potatoes, corn tortillas, and guacamole. There's nothing wrong with that per'se, but maybe don't set me up thinking you have more options when, you don't. Now, with the being said, we ordered a round of tortilla chips and guac, the chips were very thick and hearty ... definitely more substantial than tortilla chips found at other mexican restaurants. In addition, the guacamole tasted fresh and delicious! Both the Roasted Potatoes and the Arroz Rojo had great seasoning, really enjoyed every bite. Last, we appreciated the Mixed Veggie dish they were able to throw together for us. With all things being said, the combination of these items did leave us feeling very full ... so there's that! Ok, one big big nod in their favor is their Bloody Mary drink, which happens to be my drink of choice. I'm always leery to try and order a Bloody Mary from a non vegan restaurant because all too often they'll use a pre made mix that contains anchovies, although many places can do a more simple version of tomato juice and vodka and get a close approximation. But, to Paseo's credit, they use the Zing Zang Mix, which is completely vegan, woot woot! So I definitely give them mad props for that! If you're going with non vegan family, there's enough sides you can string together to leave on a full stomach, and I feel confident you'll find the food to be tasty as well. Just don't go there thinking they have an additional vegan options because ... they don't

Yelp
My family and I made a reservation through the Disneyland app for 7 PM, though we experienced a brief 25-minute wait upon arrival. Despite this, our server provided exceptional service, making us feel welcome and well cared for. The food was outstanding--expertly prepared and full of flavor. The restaurant's cozy and inviting atmosphere adds to the overall experience, making it a perfect choice for any occasion. We look forward to returning!

Yelp
Made a reservation here and was completely blown away! Every aspect of Paseo is impressive from the ambience to the service to the food and drink! The guacamole is amazing. Probably the best I've ever had. Chiccaron on the side was great but next time I'm going with the pork belly! Their Mexican Old Fashioned was a solid take on my beverage of choice with a taste that made it very distinctive. I wouldn't switch to it on a regular basis but I do like my whiskey! The steak tar tar app was a top choice as well Main course was a shrimp and spaghetti squash dish that was light yet filling at the same time. I went with a side of street corn on this The real hit is the setting. Totally relaxing with nice views of Downtown Disney I can't say enough good things about it!

Yelp
An excellent option for a fancier meal in DT Disney! We loved all of the cocktails we had, and all of the food blew our minds. The octopus in particular was melt-in-the-mouth spectacular. We arrived during the dinner rush on a Thursday night, and it was still only about a half hour wait for us. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Located in downtown Disney & a Michelin Chef , what more could a person ask for?! Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have been to in 2024! From decor to plate presentation, hands down this place is on my Top 10 list. Menu did NOT have an overwhelming amount of food options, awesome because why over complicate me LOL. I think the prices were priced at a reasonable price, I do NOT think any item on the menu was overpriced. 10/10 from service to food! DTS cocktail and margarita were soooo good, highly recommend those 2 drinks The appetizer I would reorder over and over again is the Yucatan Ceviche ($24). The Hamachi was tender and was actually my first time eating it, not a fishy after taste at all! It is a small dish, so not shareable but very flavorful Do yourself a favor and order the Cochinita Pibil ($39) &/OR the Lamb Barbacoa ($42). Both options come with HANDMADE TORTILLAS! Both meats were super tender, fall off the bone tender. ONLY Con: waiting area downstairs is small

Yelp
We spent my birthday at Disneyland, and we grabbed a reservation at Paseo. We didn't really know what to expect, but wow, we're we pleasantly surprised. Our server, Aida, was friendly & knowledgeable. She answered questions about the dishes and provided great service throughout the meal. The ambiance & decor is modern with Mexican and Latin American influences. The cocktails were very tasty and a nice start to the meal. And finally the food. Wow. Flavorful, with just enough spice to provide flavor without being too hot. Slow roasted to perfection. And the portion sizes were large. Overall a great meal and a great birthday dinner. We've already booked our next meal whwn we come back for my wife's birthday.

Yelp
Paseo is probably some of the best food on Disneyland resort. Everything from cocktails, appetizer, entree, and dessert were amazing! To top it all off, the service from Juan B. was top notch. Juan gave us recommendations for everything and each was a hit. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
This was delicious Mexican food and it's from a Michelin starred chef. However, what it's really shown me is that Madre, an Oaxcan restaurant in Torrance also deserves a Michelin star; food from Madre edges Paseo out by a hair and comes as a steal! Paseo is one of three related restaurants opened by Chef Carlos Gaytan (Centrico and Tiendita) in the Downtown Disney area. It's located on the second floor and their footprint is quite large. Without further ado, here's what we ordered: Guacamole - haas avocado, tomato, cilantro, onion, lime, serrano, tortilla chips $18 - lime forward, not too much garlic, light, refreshing and spreadable, not too thick. Unfortunately their chips were on the oily side, not a fan. Pulpo Enamorado - roasted octopus, tuna aioli, salsa macha, pickled vegetables $24 - the octopus wasn't overdone and tasted like it was roasted in garlic chili oil. The vegetable "salad" is pickled, has tang to it, peas, carrots and potatoes. I enjoy acidity and didn't mind it; it reminded me of mashed potatoes but pickled. Mama's Cochinita Pibil - pork shank marinated in guajillo pepper and homemade pineapple vinegar, slow braised in banana leaves served with black bean puree, pickled red onion habanero salsa, corn tortillas $39 - the pork shank falls right off the bone, and the pineapple vinegar brings beautiful brightnes to the dish, as does the pickled onions to the pureeed black beans and the habanero salsa. Clearly this was my favorite of the evening! The corn tortillas comes 3 to a container and looks to be a mix of 3 different types of corn (or at least color wise)! Esquites - local fresh corn, epazote-garlic aioli, chili powder, lime juice $9 - the corn was sweet and has a light avocado crema on top that wasn't queso heavy. Not sure if intentional, but there was a pool of crema/corn juice at the bottom. I didn't mind it and it didn't affect the taste, but it was not visually appealing.

Yelp
Went to Paseo for a brunch last weekend, if I had to pick one thing to have over and over again from this place, it would be the Mama's Cochinta Pibil - the pork is soooo soft and succulent, and paired beautifully with the beans and their fresh masa tortillas. The downside? They only give you three tortillas for all that meat! (I had to pay the $6 for 3 more, but so worth it - probably the best fresh made tortillas I've ever had). The Queso Fundido we added pork belly and chicharon - to be honest it was like one chichiron broken over the top and was lost in all the flavor. The crispy pork belly? I'm not sure, I've never had the dish before and I can't differentiate what should have been there and was the added crispy pork (I didn't taste anything crispy). It came with two slices of bread and again.. not enough vessels for the queso. We didn't ask for more bread (or chips would have been good) but the BF used his waffles as a vessel and there was still leftovers in the bowl (more bread, please!!) BF ordered the Paseo Waffles - he was not a fan. The duck was tender enough, but he felt that the sweet potato puree and the tamarind glaze was not a great match together and was a miss. This was also served with brussels sprouts that were HUGE. If you have brussels sprouts this big, please please please quarter them - even halved they were the size of golf balls. Overall, a good visit. My kiddo got some plain waffles which he was quite fond of eating while he watched people pass by from the balcony upstairs. We definitely have our favorites (BF loved the pibil too) and will try to find a secondary favorite next time.

Yelp
Paeso is a fantastic dining option in Downtown Disney, perfect for families. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with plenty of options for both kids and adults. The service is warm and welcoming, and the lively yet relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy a meal with little ones in tow. Quick Tip: Their Yelp hours may not always be accurate, so it's a good idea to call ahead to confirm. It's worth the extra effort--Paeso is a must-visit for a family-friendly dining experience!

Yelp
Came for a friend's birthday because she wanted to eat here but was a total disappointment. Services was great, thanks Eddy but the food had no flavor and presentation. Here's what we ordered. Guacamole with pork belly but they only gave us 6 small pieces. For the price of the add on you'd think they would at least TRY to be generous. 4.5/10 Cheese fondu was gross, it wasn't even cheese, it looked liquified and watery. Do not order that 1/10 The mussels were barely opened (not cooked all the way) and gave us a huge loaf of bread that wasn't even sliced. Horrible presentation. 2.5/10 Cochinita Pibil was disappointing, small little shank that looked so pitiful with a small spoon of beans. 2.5/10 This place sucks don't go here.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service from Avelino! We ordered the cochinitas and it's honestly good for two people. Jamaica was tasty!

Yelp
The food was excellent, the service was atrocious. Sorry! It's true. My party kept saying, do you think they forgot about us? Half our food never came.. it was bad service. The yummy margarita I had almost made up for it but no one else got drinks so... 3 stars.

Yelp
ohmygoodness. I'm still dreaming about the shrimp aguachile and I haven't even left the table yet. LOL It was HANDS DOWN the best shrimp aguachile I've. EVER. HAD. We also ordered the lamb barbacoa, chicken enchiladas, and the guacamole. And EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. Like indescribably good. Rudy was amazing, so warm, so accommodating, and so kind. He definitely made us want to come back. From the food to the service, this place is it. I would definitely be making this a must stop when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I saw all the foodie influencers on IG talking about this spot, so naturally, my friends and I had to come. FOOD: OKAY, I'm a daughter of Mexican immigrants. I've always struggled to pay for expensive Mexican food. But I'll say that this food is GREAT! The guac was yummy, but they didn't serve you much. I ordered the huarache, and it was super filling. However, paying for something I've bought at a food truck in DTLA feels weird. DRINKS: WOWZA! The drinks were not only delicious but also gorgeous. We had two rounds of drinks. The second round of drinks we ordered was based on what another table was having. I asked my server, "What's that drink with the flowers on the glass?" Haha--totally worth the price! SERVICE: Our server was friendly, attentive, and courteous. AMBIANCE: Mexican modern-chic/artsy. The architecture is stunning! Our table was on the balcony, so we had a great view of Downtown Disney :) Will I return? Probably only for drinks and apps but not for a sit-down dinner.

Yelp
Beautiful location in downtown Disney offering delicious Mexican cuisine. We tried a few dishes including the guac with panela cheese and everything came out so fresh. Drinks were also delicious.

Yelp
Posting my 2 night experience- Night 1 - Had a great dinner at bar this time Gigi and Jose were Great and I enjoyed their company to keeping me entertained with drink knowledge and food recommendations. Probably my 9th time eating here but bar was a first. I'll be here 3 nights in a row since I'm on business. Carne Asada , very flavorful but the temperature was not warm when I received. The sauce took the potatoes to another level, the Asada would have been a 10 if the temperature arrived much warmer. I'm returning tonight again... let's see what I choose and I'll keep posting. Enjoy peeps!!! Night 2- tonight was more adventurous and detailed pictures/video. You MUST try the French Onion Soup, it was sweet but a very faint poblano tickle, I really mean tickle. Most AMAZING onion soup I've EVER had in my life. I also tried Chef Carlos Sangria... sip it, chug it, bathe in it! I'm a whiskey/bourbon man so Xanax Old-Fashioned is normally my go to but always forget to post my pictures. You get video and pictures this time with back ground music lol Haven't decided on dinner but I believe Lamb Barbacoa since I haven't had it yet, you hungry, get ready for this chunk of rich flavors. It's from the neck so the flavors should be more intense, meaning YUMMY STUFF! If you love spicy, ask for a side of Habanero/garlic sauce (little dabs) Great recommendations from both Charlisse (waitress) and Ashley (mixologist)

Yelp
Our group of friends had dinner at Paseo for New Year's Eve, and it was a mix of really good food and multiple mis-steps. Our reservation was for 9pm, but we didn't get seated until about 9:40pm. In Paseo's recent social media posts, there had been mention of a surf and turf special. Once we were seated we didn't see anything on the menu about a special, and our server never mentioned anything about a special. I had gotten a glimpse of a piece of paper taped to the check-in podium but didn't realize I needed to look at that to know there was a special. When I asked our server about a special, she did tell us what it was, but she failed to mention that the special was meant for two people until I asked a clarifying question. It would seem pretty important to know that a special is intended for two people rather than just one person. I was also very disappointed to discover that the so-called "surf and turf special" was really just two of the regular items on the regular menu (a steak dish and a shrimp dish) ordered together. Well, that made sense that it was for two people because it was simply ordering two entrees. When one person in our group inquired about the sauce on the shrimp dish, to see if it contained cilantro, the server went to check, and when she came back, she said that the kitchen crew indicated that sometimes, the sauce is made with cilantro, and sometimes, it's made with basil. She said that she could have the sauce put on the side. It turned out that the sauce was made from basil, but it seemed disconcerting that no one in the kitchen knew what a specific sauce was made with. Three of us ordered the chicken enchilada, one of us ordered the short rib, and one of us ordered the shrimp dish. When they brought our food, they brought the enchiladas and the shrimp, as well as the brussel sprouts side dishes we'd ordered, and we were told that the short rib would be arriving shortly. We thought it was weird that everyone's food wasn't brought at once but figured it would just be another couple minutes. It was a good 10 to 15 minutes before the short rib was brought out, with that friend sitting there the whole time with no food. When the server brought the short rib out, she was very apologetic about the delay. Because we had been seated so late, it was nearing midnight when we'd ordered our dessert. We were waiting for our celebratory champagne toast, but none seemed forthcoming. When I asked our server, she said she hadn't heard anything about it and went to check, and she came back to say that there was no champagne toast being provided. I explained to her that the two social media posts leading up to New Year's Eve both mentioned a celebratory champagne. Granted, it did not say that it was complimentary, but the accompanying pictures to the posts seemed to imply so, given that the pictures showed batches of filled champagne glasses ready to be distributed. Pictures of the social media posts are attached. Even if the champagne was not intended to be complimentary, we were never even offered a chance to order anything for a midnight toast. Given the earlier problem with the short rib dish being brought so late to our table, and then the issue with the advertised champagne toast, I was dismayed that it wasn't a manager who came over to explain. Our server did a really good job, with issues that were not her fault, and given that we'd already had a few issues with our experience, it seemed inappropriate that she was left to apologize for the multiple issues rather than having a manager-level person address them. I have had several very positive visits to Paseo, both for dinner and for brunch, and the food on this evening was just as good as on my prior visits. However, it was very disappointing to encounter so many mis-steps during the course of dinner. Our tradition is to have New Year's Eve dinner in Downtown Disney, but there was nothing about this evening that made it feel special, especially with an advertised celebratory champagne toast that apparently only the social media managers mentioned but was not intended by any of the staff in the restaurant. I'm hoping that the issues can be rectified so that a dinner we were very much looking forward to doesn't again turn into a disappointing experience.

Yelp
A New Mexican restaurant and bar at downtown Disney district. We were about to put down our names for a table. A nice lady told us to just go ahead eat at the bar without any wait. This restaurant is very stylish and beautiful. The bar tops were cozy and quiet for hubby and I. We had sparkling water, a couple of drinks, whole red snapper (GF) and side of Mexican corns. They had good choices of gluten free items on the menu. The fish was very yummy and fresh. We had a good time eating at the bar and the service was excellent as well. A great Mexican restaurant that we would definitely visit again!

Yelp
It's 2 hours and 20 mins since our original reservation time and we're still waiting for our food. Our reservation was 6pm, we got seated at over 1.5 hours after our reservation time at 7:40pm and this is only after I sneaked upstairs to find out when we'd be seated. It's now 8:20pm and we still don't have food (40 mins from being seated). I'll update once we at least try the food but I can't imagine coming back after this.

Yelp
Went with the family to have New Year's Eve Dinner, Even though the Wait times were ridiculous it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. They had live music .The esquite was okayyy, honestly had better. My daughter had the Carne Asada Dish which was really good especially with the aioli sauce they provided. The tenderness of the short rib had my boyfriend wanting more even though he was stuffed! and OMG! don't get me started with the Chile Relleno. It was so delicious that even though I was full I still finished it because I didn't want to let it go to waste. I would definitely recommend and would be booking another reservation in the future.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautifully designed, and I was immediately drawn in by the gorgeous atmosphere. They specialize in Yucatán-style food. The menu is a bit on the smaller side, but they offer both small and large plates with a larger seafood selection. Our waitress was the sweetest and made the experience even better. The food was delicious and delicate, each element on the dish carefully and meticulously crafted. We enjoyed our dishes, but obsessed with their tri-colored homemade tortillas. That is a must-try. I'm happy there's a great restaurant option in Downtown Disney now. It's definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Paseo really surprised me. I was not expecting this type of food and dining quality at a downtown Disney location. Everything we had was amazing and our server Ryan was outstanding. We will definitely be frequenting Paseo and asking for Ryan again! Thank you!

Yelp
Ambiance This is a beautiful multilevel restaurant. The bar on 2nd floor pops. The kitchen on first floor is open and faces the public, ensures food sanitation. On the second floor La Gringa is making yellow/blue corn tortillas on a rotating grill, so innovating. Customer Service Alejandro our server was great. He explained his favorite dishes. He talked about Michelin Star Chef Carlos Gayton and his dishes and various restaurants. Food runners even explained some of the dishes. Stellar. Food Mama's Chochinita Pibil The meat fell of bone. Delicious complex flavors. Served on bed of black beans puree. Generous portion. Winner Chicken Dinner. Lamb Barbacoa The meat also fell of the bone. Delicious complex flavors. Served on a bed of pinto beans puree. Generous portion could not finish. Arroz Rojo Good, my wife makes better. Guacamole Very good, has slices of multicolored radishes. Corn Tortillas They have blue/yellow corn tortillas. Winner Chicken Dinner LOST A STAR First of all the food was amazing, Alejandro our server was great. The bartender on second floor had a bit of an attitude when I asked about ingredients of cocktail. When I return I will just order cocktails from server. Manguiri Cocktail This touted fee brothers foam. I asked 'where is foam?' bartender pointed to a micro dollop of foam I expected more foam. We went to counter at 7:45 and were told to come back at 8:15 and was entered in the system. There was no record of that when we returned however they got us in.

Yelp
Lovedddd this new place in Downtown Disney! We made a online reservation on a Friday night & when we checked in we barely had to wait for the table to be set up. Food was amazing! All the dishes were incredible, especially the main dishes we ordered, guacamole & the drinks. The cutest little open air upstairs place with a great view of downtown!

Yelp
Let's start with the food here is deliciously! We started off with the chips and guac and queso. The guac was so fresh and had pork belly on it. It was such a delicious touch. For dinner I had the chicken enchiladas which was so good the flavors hit all the right places. I'm not a big enchiladas fan but boy those were good. I paired my dinner with a spicy mamacita margarita. I love that the tortillas are all made fresh, you can watch the lady make it from the window. Service was a little slow but it's Disneyland on a Saturday what do you expect. Def would come back and try other items.

Yelp
Top shelf restaurant! A great place to finish off a lovely family trip to Disney Land. The short rib was cooked to perfection. The chips & fresh table side guac was set the tone. Nice balcony view over downtown Disney! Perfect send off dinner at a first class restaurant with first class service!

Yelp
One of the few places in the Disneyland Resort/Downtown with Dr. Pepper!!! May or may not have influenced the overall star rating. If you have a reservation at 4pm when they open for dinner, you will need to stand outside until they wheel a hostess stand outside. The sun outside definitely impacted the comfort of the visit, though it was beautiful once inside. Additionally, since so many tables are seated at once it floods both the servers to grab drinks and floods the kitchen with orders. This resulted in a fairly long wait for receiving a drink and food, though I was fairly patient since I left extra time before jetting off to the airport. My server was Alyssa was super friendly and even let me know the Chile Relleno can be made vegetarian upon request. Appreciate that level of care! There are a surprising late of vegetarian options, and not one entree that is vegetarian by nature. Likely won't return unless I see a menu revamp, but I can see others who eat pescatarian or omnivore that would enjoy this place. Definitely would check out brunch as that menu looked good for vegetarian burrito option.

Yelp
This downtown Disney restaurant has a one star Michelin Chef whose guacamole was the basis for that star and it is amazing to say the least. It has an incredible blend of the chilies and lime juice which gives the overall guacamole a smooth citrus flavor. I like that they left lots of chunks of the avocado as well. The tortilla chips are so well made, on the thick-side, and I literally could not stop eating them. I was at Paseo several times during one week while attending a recent trade show, because of executive receptions and other team events, so a good time to rate consistency. Each time we had many appetizers being passed around and they were all very tasty. For instance, the birria street tacos were simply amazing and well seasoned, as well as the rolled taquitos with potato or chicken inside. Basically anything crispy here was well-made, despite being fried, they weren't oily but had a nice crunch or crispness. The staff was very helpful and attentive, taking drink orders as well as bringing appetizers around. My favorite part was the guacamole stations and it was so tempting to not want to take that entire bowl home and just eat it all day and night. The restaurant has very busy with lots of reservations and walkins. I think it's one of the more popular ones right now and so if you can get a reservation, that is a must. There is the typical restaurant conversational and serving noise, so that should be expected and not a quiet, dinner place.
