NY-style slices, inventive toppings, vegan options, late night

"Known for some of the best pizza in Chicago, this Wicker Park outpost serves a mix of wood-fired, Detroit-style, and New York-style pies from the Brooklyn-based pizzeria’s team." - Sam Nelson
"Surprising exactly no one, Paulie Gee’s makes an excellent New York-style pie. After all, the original Paulie Gee’s is in Brooklyn. And unlike the one in Logan Square, this location focuses exclusively on New York-style pizza that you can get as a pie or in foldable slices that come on little paper plates. Classics like the pepperoni are great, but so are the more interesting varieties like roasted pork topped with a pineapple habanero salsa and cilantro sauce." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor
"Paulie Gee’s is from Brooklyn and might at first seem like an unnecessary addition to the Chicago pizza scene. But if you haven’t already, you need to try their Neapolitan and Detroit-style pies. Go for any variety that comes with hot honey (and order extra honey to go with it). While you’re doing that, we’ll be busy investigating how they got so good at making Midwestern pizza." - nick allen, adrian kane, veda kilaru, john ringor
"Punilly known as “Logan Squares,” the frico-framed pies from this Logan Square spot have an incredible lightness that makes them easy to eat. We’ve often entered a pizza-feasting flow state and not realized we ate a whole pie. Paulie Gee’s US Pizza Cup Winner (it won the event in 2018) is our favorite: an excellent mix of zippy sauce, salty pepperoni, bacon jam, and hot honey. But they have plenty of other tasty topping combinations like funky gorgonzola and cremini mushrooms, or monthly specials covered in chorizo and salsa negra." - john ringor, nick allen
"Paulie Gee’s came to Chicago from Brooklyn, and initially, we were a little self-conscious about how much we liked it. This is the land of deep-dish pizza, after all. But now we’ll happily admit that the inventive Neapolitan pies here are awesome. We like the rustic ambiance, too—everything besides the ceiling is made of wood, and it feels like a tavern as much as a pizza place. As a bonus, they have vegan options that actually taste good. Get anything with their spicy honey as a topping." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen
