Paymon’s copes with pandemic restrictions by adding quick-service menus, revamping a patio - Eater Vegas

"Paymon’s from owner Paymon Raouf originally opened in 1988 with a deli featuring Middle Eastern food and beverages under the name Middle Eastern Bazaar, and in 2020, changed its name to Paymon’s Fresh Kitchen & Lounge to reflect the fresh ingredients used in its dishes. The restaurant originally launched 33 years ago with just a dozen items on the menu in a 900-square-foot space, and now sports four pages of dishes hailing from Italy, Greece, the Middle East, and Persia at its two locations on Eastern Avenue just north of the 215 Beltway and Sahara Avenue near Durango Drive. Falafel and flaming saganaki, moussaka and kabobs, and fesenjan, a Persian delicacy that uses boneless chicken breast slowly cooked with crushed walnuts in a tangy semi-sweet pomegranate sauce make up some of the dramatic dishes on the mainstay menu." - Susan Stapleton

Paymon’s closes on the eastside on Feb. 15 | Eater Vegas

"One of Las Vegas’s longest-running Mediterranean restaurants began in 1988 as a deli featuring Middle Eastern food and beverages and later expanded and rebranded in 2002 with the addition of a hookah lounge; after 30 years at its Maryland Parkway site that location will close at 9pm on Feb. 15 due to prolonged construction and roadwork that made continued operation unsustainable for a thin-margin independent business. The kitchen is known for a broad, eclectic menu spanning Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern, Indian and vegetarian dishes, while the dark, elegant hookah lounge is decorated with Mediterranean art, couches and ottomans and offers specialty cocktails and tobaccos; unique lighting highlights both hot and cold hookahs. The business opened a second full-service location on Sahara Avenue in 2004 and continues to operate additional locations in the city." - Susan Stapleton

Paymon’s Debuts a Third Location on Eastern Avenue | Eater Vegas

"Since 1988 I've considered Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe & Lounge a local Las Vegas staple for Italian, Greek, and Middle Eastern dishes; founder Paymon Raouf opened the original on Maryland Parkway as the Middle Eastern Bazaar before renaming it to reflect a broader Mediterranean menu. A second location opened on Sahara Avenue by 2004, and the newest spot at 8955 S. Eastern Ave. adds a pizza oven—management says it has been a hit with Greek pizzas—plus a bar with a garage door that opens to the patio and a lounge that features hookahs. The menu highlights saganaki, moussaka, fesenjan and the cult-favorite Athens Fries, and the business also packages and sells a line of spices and its Racy Red hot sauce through its Spice Bazaar. Hours are daily 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and the phone is 702-333-4622." - Susan Stapleton

This place is incredible. We came here on a Friday night and there was live music. The lighting and ambience is fantastic. The food is amazing. Portion sizes are great. Honestly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Las Vegas as a local. Will definitely be back. Come through, you won’t be disappointed

We used to go to the original Paymons on Maryland for years. We then started going to the Eastern/215 location for years. We were so sad to watch both locations close. This past weekend we decided to make the drive across town specifically to enjoy the food we had eaten for decades. It was a pleasant surprise to see that not only was the atmosphere as enjoyable and relaxing as we recalled, but the food was still absolutely perfect!!

I've been to Paymon's before. It is a consistently great place to eat. I brought a friend here for her first time. She was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed her gyro platter.

Been here over 30+ times, always for dinner and to go, and recently been away for 4 years to come back to the same amazing gyro meat, and then some more on the side, garlic fries were hot and amazing. Gyro plate is "amazing, forgot how plentiful it is" sorry we didn't take any pictures, as we destroy our food like fat kids. Never have run into anything that looked dirty, any time I've waited for 30+ minutes I've never seen any cross contamination, any issues I've had, were solved by the hosts, or if they couldn't solve it, a manager was shortly near by to talk about it and help me solve it. If you need your Gyro meat, This is the place to get it from. Worth every penny. will be coming back over and over

Great atmosphere, great food, took a little longer than expected to place our order. However, due to it being popular, the staff were very busy so not really an issue. Highly recommend!!!! Pic is of their salmon which was phenomenal.

My first visit and was thoroughly impressed. Pepe (server) was very attentive and on the ball, never having to ask him for a refill. Had the saganaki (great flavor), Athens Fries, and the chicken pita. Was able to change two things about the pita without an issue or questioning. Food was hot, fresh and delicious! Service was outstanding! I will certainly return on my next Vegas visit!

Yelp
This establishment is a remarkable traditional hookah lounge. I truly appreciate the classic charm, artistic elements, and the rich cultural heritage that exude from the Middle Eastern tradition. The level of service provided is truly exceptional, and the culinary offerings are truly outstanding, with a diverse menu that includes delectable options such as calamari and Babaganush. Additionally, the lounge boasts an extensive selection of fine wines and expertly crafted cocktails, although I personally do not partake in alcoholic beverages, the cocktails are so enticing that they almost tempted me. I highly recommend this venue for large gatherings and first dates alike. While it does have televisions available for those interested in watching a game, it should not be mistaken for a sports bar. In fact, the ambiance can be quite enchanting and romantic.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience at a bar and hookah lounge. The place was empty, and the staff kept moving us to different tables throughout the evening. They made us move from a comfortable couch to uncomfortable chairs, even though the place was practically empty. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.
