Where to Eat in Knoxville and Maryville, Tennessee | Bon Appétit

"Born out of the resort’s commitment to ingredients, the brewery (started in 2011) impressed me with beers that showcase local sourcing — Tennessee-grown barley in the pilsner and Belgian yeast in the saison — and the tasting room is the best place to try limited runs and pick up a special bottle to take home." - ByCaroline Eubanks

This Food-Filled Road Trip Celebrates East Tennessee's Appalachian Culture | Bon Appétit

"A casual brewery with long picnic tables, a few high-tops, and a grab-and-go area, offering many local beers plus hard kombucha or local cider on tap; snacks shine here too, particularly sweet tea-brined chicken fingers with a crunchy peppery crust and Cruze Farm buttermilk ranch that balance sweet and salty." - ByCassidee Dabney, as told to Kate Kassin

Came here with my girlfriend this last Saturday and I was blown away by the experience. The bar staff were super outgoing, helpful, and knowledgeable. Justin in particular was great to talk to and very helpful in picking out options. We tried the pretzels & beer cheese and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. The beer cheese dip was great texturally and it had a great mustard tang to it. We aren’t from the area, so trying the local brews was a must. We tried several beers from a rice stout to a piña colada sour, and they were all fantastic. When an IPA sample wasn’t working out for me, the bartenders were happy to help me pick out something more up my alley. Live music was great and patrons seemed to be happy and having a good time. 5/5, I’m not sure when I’ll be in east TN next, but whenever I am, this will be on my list!!

Burgers are great, ranch is great, fries are great, beer selection is great! I got the French dip sandwich and my husband got the Onion Jam Burger, wow they were both so good! The Onion Jam burger totally won out of the two tho! My only complaint is the parking is tight and confusing but honestly it’s well worth it!

Excellent beer, service, and food! Belly up to the bar to taste the brews that interest you. The porter was particularly good, and the piña colada sour was fantastic with just enough sour without it being overbearing. The mulled wine was perfectly balanced and not too sweet, reminiscent of the gluhwein we enjoyed all over Germany. Onion rings were so good our party ordered a second batch while we waited on burgers and French dip sandwiches with fries—all good. The chili was quite mild, and if you like a chili somewhat like a sloppy Joe—but with chips and cheese—it is a good choice. It was not on par with the rest of the food, at least not for a bunch of Texan immigrants;) We will return as it was a top notch experience!

Went out of my way the day after eating to praise their smash burger. My wife and I believe it is the best in Maryville. The beers are great as-is the atmosphere. Older part of Maryville so parking can be tricky, but the food and drinks are worth the wait. Even did to-go and after the 30 minute time from pickup to getting home to eat, still was fantastic. It’s now our reliable burger place when we need the scratch that itch.

Came by after a rainy day in the mountains 11/2/25 about 6 PM to check out the taproom after having their beers at One Knox games & collabs with other great breweries in Knoxville. Unfortunately peaceful had nothing to do with our experience as there was a children's birthday party or similar event that was taking up about 50% of the indoor area. Screaming 3-6 yr old children, running amok between tables, outside (in the rain no less), and stomping and screaming on the "stage". Parents nowhere to be found or actively encouraging this behavior. Several other patrons were clearly sharing the same sentiment and decided to leave due to the absolute daycare level insanity that was taking place throughout. The lack of sound deadening in the indoor space made this exponentially worse. I've heard and seen a few uncontrolled children at breweries in Knoxville, but this was on another level entirely. Parents, do better. Staff should've stepped in and I feel bad for anyone who decided to stay for more than 15 min. This is why places like Xul and Schulz Brau have signs and policies about this type of thing. Bad daycare experience aside, the beer was solid, however, the food prices are extremely steep for the area. I understand that the taproom is effectively a second location of Peaceful Side Social in Townsend, where those prices make a bit more sense for tourists. $11 for fries, $15 for a bowl of chili. It's Maryville... lol.

Google
Beer was enjoyable - tried a couple farmhouse ales, one a saison and one a brett. Funkiness was beautifully pronounced on the brett, The First Release Part I. Tried the pretzels, which were fine. The problem was the pub cheese. It was so liquid it was almost water, so there was no real way to coat the dipped dough. And, the bartender never came to check on me once, so it wasn't until the meal was over and the plate was cleared that a chance was given for feedback. At least they had sticker merch!

My family and a close friend went here yesterday and were very disappointed. We wanted to try the vegan chef challenge portabello and lionsmane tacos, and felt completely ripped off after they got to the table. Both tacos had one tiny piece of each mushroom, they lacked in flavor, and they cost $13. Please consider either lowering the price or filling the tacos with more mushrooms (preferably) and not just oily onions and peppers. Also, we tried the hummus while we waited, and that lacked in flavor as well. We were disappointed a plant based patty was offered, but zero vegan bread options. We will not be getting food from here again unless some of these issues are addressed. I hope they are because we love to support local businesses!

Google
We had great food and drinks at THE peaceful Side Brewery. Not a fan of Blackberry Farms beer so this is great for us. We normally frequent the Peaceful side in Townsend a couple times a month. Nice for us they are much closer now. I had chili and my other half had wings. The chili had a deep smoked flavor, I couldn't even finish it all. Very delicious. Hubs enjoyed the big phat wings.

Yelp
Went to have a beer with a lifelong brotha from anotha mother and we settled on Peaceful side. It had previously been owned by BlackBerry Hospitality but now joins the Peaceful Side collection. The parking is funky, but there's a way nearby. The place was pretty lively at 4pm on Tuesday. I think there was a book club meeting as there were several groups in the taproom. We had a variety from easy drinking lagers to 12% scotch ales. They also have burgers and the menu looked great for having a happy hour (do we still call it that) after 5pm. Def a great taproom and lively crowd. There's even a blues night on Saturday!

Yelp
The beer is delicious and unique. I had a flight and enjoyed all of them. We each had burgers and fries absolutely yummy! I had the brewery smash and the sweet hot mustard and horseradish sauce were perfect. Yes the pub sauce for the fries!!!!! Service was great I'm sorry I didn't get the guys name but he asked how we liked everything, I responded I thought the Hazy Trail was one of the best IPAs ever and I loved the One For Each Hand sour but it was a little sweet. He came back with the 2 mixed 50/50 and WOW! I took some home to further enjoy. Comfortable seating and fun atmosphere not too loud for conversation.

Yelp
Great local brewery! It truly is peaceful and a wonderful place to hang out. I loved that the ordering system is all through a QR code, so you're able to input everything you want with your meal, customize it, and then pay all from your phone. I ordered the Wit & Orange beer and Smoked Onion Jam Smash Burger. The burger was incredible! Extremely juicy and flavorful, with excellent onion jam mayo and gooey white cheddar. The fries were delicious too with a crispy outside and served with a homemade ranch that had a dill aftertaste. Wit & Orange was good tasted like a slightly happy person of Blue Moon. Along with the great food and beer, they had board games to borrow and enjoy hanging out. Great experience!

Yelp
This is a really cool spot that is both kids and dog friendly. They have really good food as well. I highly recommend the pizzas! I thought the beers were delicious. They have a large outdoor area that's covered and has turf. Kids are running around. The inside has bench seats and regular tables. When you walk in, you order at the counter and the staff will bring you your food. The person taking the orders was kind of slow so there was a long line. However, the staff bringing the food and abusing tables was very kind. As a plus, they have a creamery connected! Solid ice cream.

Yelp
FINALLY a real smash burger!!! Been searching all over this town for a dang good burger thats actually smashed. This was it. Fantastic flavor with crispy edges (like a real smash burger should). Loved the live music, really set the vibe of the place. A packed house yet the service was still quick and easy. Bartenders were super friendly and the manager was a breath of fresh air. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
So, this establishment is every bit as good as the one that used to occupy this space, but cheaper! It's decorated nearly the same, industrial style with wooden barrels. The service was outstanding. Our server offered personal service over using the QR code on the table. She let my wife try several beers. The selection is varied. I had the Pilsner, which I liked very much. I also ordered the onion jam smash burger in a single patty. (The on-line menu did not allow this option). It was excellent with plenty of flavor. It was a nice, quiet and relaxing dinner on a Sunday evening. Two meals and two beers was $25!

Yelp
We come here often and are overdue to leave a great review! Cute little place and love the laid back indoor/outdoor vibe! Every time we come the drinks are cold and food is delicious! We were obsessed with their hazy IPA and were sad that it got taken off of the rotation recently, but the food is always beautiful! We enjoy every bite, every time! And staff is always friendly and helpful as ever! Can always count on a good time!

Yelp
The servers here were very helpful and nice we love the atmosphere and aesthetic. The food was unique and extremely fresh. We absolutely love the beers and will be back! Great spot.

Yelp
Nice little place has good atmosphere. The food was pretty good just what Maryville needed The ordering is done on your phone through a QR code That includes drinks, you have to give your credit card no way around it. You are expected to tip before you receive your meal. The expectation is you are to tip the food runner like a full service restaurant. Pay your people a decent wage. Do better!

Yelp
Located in the former blackberry farms location. They have a decent menu for a small brewery and everything we ordered was really good. Pretzel with beer cheese, grain bowl, and burger were all excellent. Their beers were also really good. It is my understanding that they are still brewing some of blackberry farms beer recipes for now. We were there on a Sunday evening and it was pretty quiet. Kid-friendly.

Yelp
I'm shocked this place has no reviews yet! I went for a friend's birthday recently. The food was genuinely amazing! My husband and I shared the pretzels and cheese dip and it was the best we had ever had. A nice place to relax with friends and enjoy a good bite to eat.

Yelp
What a great little place to eat and have a few cold ones. Went on a Friday and had the best wings in town.... and the Mountain Lager was fantastic....very nice staff and a totally different vibe than any place in town. I would recommend and will definitely be back!!

Kevin A.

Yelp
Great vibes! Good beer. Good food. I wish the menu wasn't so limited. If you don't want a burger, chicken sandwich, or salad there's not much for you. Only complaint tho! Overall great place. Been here twice in a week and will be back a lot more.

Yelp
They have a really great stout that they had in bottles this past summer. I wish it was available at liquor stores in Indiana or Kentucky. They have really great pizzas and are easy to work with for large groups (we had over 20). I hope to be back soon.

Kelly P.

Yelp
Visited first time Friday. Had been to sister restaurant in Townsend. Townsend restaurant states beer is a pint. Maryville does not state and when it arrived at table, glasses are 12 ounce, maybe. $6, $7 for 12 ounces is big price.

Yelp
We love peaceful side brewery! Their wings and smash burger are so good! Great beer and great vibes here! The staff is all super nice and helpful!

Yelp
We went here (Maryville location, not Townsend) because they had outdoor dining for our dog. But there were these flying nats everywhere. We changed tables, to a different location, they kept flying into our drinks, so then we went inside, and the bugs were inside too, it made the experience very annoying. The food was okay but couldn't enjoy because I kept swatting the bugs away worried they would now get in our food. And the place looked like they hadn't cleaned the floor ever, or shook out a rug. Sorry, I won't be returning to the Maryville Peaceful Side Brewery, Townsend location was much better.
