The Hottest New Bars in New York City, February 2025

"Pearl Box is styled like a swanky 1970s living room, made all the more sexy by its black leather couches. This is a table-service set-up, a good date pick, upstairs of Heroes, the latest restaurant from Ariel Arce. The restaurateur has made a name for herself with a taste for luxury — needless to say, caviar is an option at Pearl Box. It’s no doubt going to be the next Jean’s — where the fashion world flocks (there is, after all, a red-carpeted stairway)." - Emma Orlow, Melissa McCart

Pearl Box - Review - Soho - New York - The Infatuation

"The interior designer at Pearl Box deserves a raise. To get to this third-floor cocktail bar above Heroes in Soho, you climb two flights of red carpeted stairs surrounded by wall-to-wall mirrors. At the top, there's a wood-paneled room where couples lounge on velvet loveseats and sip ice-cold martinis and cherry americanos. It's glamorous, carpeted, and might make you feel compelled to spend a lot of money, which is a good thing, because nearly every table is doing caviar service. (One of the owners, who’s also behind Tokyo Record Bar, has her own caviar line.) Come for a swanky date night, order one more drink than you think is wise plus caviar, and get the candy bowl for dessert. It's $14, but the variety of gummy candy is impressive, and it comes in a fancy-looking dish with a lid, for the picture-perfect on-screen reveal. photo credit: Heroes photo credit: Heroes photo credit: Willa Moore" - Willa Moore

A Roscioli Partner to Open Heroes and Pearl Box in Soho - Eater NY

"Pearl Box, located on the top floor above Heroes, features a 1970s retro vibe with red space, Italian modernist decor, wood paneling, mid-century lighting, and a vintage bar. The modern menu includes dishes like bluefin tuna and rice, chanterelles on toast, foie gras mousse, rock shrimp roll, and fried chicken, as well as caviar. The drink menu offers a collection of martinis, a gimlet, a highball, and a brandy Alexander." - Melissa McCart

Just another home run for Ariel Arce. She really doesn’t miss and Pearl Box is an amazing experience from the moment you walk up the stairs. The room itself has a really amazing sexy vibe and sets the tone for the night. Me and my wife did the caviar tasting which is definitely worth the splurge, especially when you see the staff roll out 6k worth of caviar to your table (which the waiter weighs out in front of you depending how much you order). The cocktails were fantastic as well and if you are a martini lover you are in for a good time (just keep in mind they specialize in wet martinis). Ariel was there also making sure things were going smoothly, and it is just so refreshing to see an owner putting so much into their business. I cannot wait to come back and also can’t wait to see what else this powerhouse restaurateur opens up in the future.

We made a reservation for 10 pm, arrived right on time, no one was at the hostess stand, walked up three flights of stairs to be told we would have to wait 15+ min for our reservation and to walk back down the three flights of stairs to wait—with zero apology. I get that delays happen and that’s totally fine. Just own it and don’t treat us like we are bothering you for asking you to honor our reservation.

I discovered Pearl Box after an amazing evening at the Tokyo Record Bar, also owned by Ariel Arce, and trusted it with my team’s corporate holiday party—and it was the perfect choice. The food, drinks, and service were exceptional, matching the unique and inviting vibe of the space. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, from the specialty cocktails to the delicious canapés, and the service was hyper-attentive. Pearl Box is a truly memorable experience, and I highly recommend it for any special occasion.

Caviar service, drinks, and atmosphere was amazing! Didn’t realize no flash photography was allowed and on our way out my flash accidentally went off and the tall, white, bald server was so rude about it. He could have simply said no flash pictures and instead was very rude!

Looks like a home and the owner makes you feel at home. AMAZING music and food options. The only thing I didn’t love was the cocktails. They we’re ok 4.95/5
