Gastropub serving craft beers, cocktails, and British-influenced pub fare

"Located right on Evanston’s border with Chicago, Peckish Pig offers a very different dining experience than most nearby competitors as it works to elevate the standard brewpub experience. Its menu is impressively extensive, featuring popular items like bacon-wrapped dates and fish & chips but also more adventurous options like red Thai curry mussels. Peckish Pig offers eight to 10 house-brewed beers at all times, as well as multiple cocktails including a rotating slushy." - Sam Nelson
"Peckish Pig only narrowly made this guide (it’s about as far south as you can possibly go before you’re technically in Chicago). But we’re glad it qualifies, because it’s a great brew pub that’s worth a visit if you’re nearby. Come for bar snacks like bacon-fat popcorn, or plates like fish and chips and burgers. They have eight or so beers on tap, and they’re mainly IPAs that go well with the gastropub food. The space is crowded and lively, so it’s ideal for a group dinner or double date - and if you cross the street, you’re in Chicago. Run back and forth until you get bored." - adrian kane

"This English-style pub on the Chicago-Evanston border serves doughnuts for weekend brunch only, but they are particularly delicious specimens, served warm in a paper bag, rolled in cinnamon sugar with housemade salted caramel or chocolate ganache served on the side for dipping. They’re complimentary for diners ordering bottomless mimosas on Saturday." - Sam Nelson

"This pub/restaurant is continuing to enforce COVID-19 mitigation measures — such as masks, proof of vaccination, or negative-test requirements — even after the city lifted its indoor mandate on Feb. 28. As venue policies differ and may change, patrons should confirm current requirements before visiting." - Naomi Waxman
