Google
Didn't know this place was here and a search for Good Chinese brought this up. The reviews I read were very mixed. But I decided to give it a try. I went on a Friday night about 6:30 pm. There were many, many available seats. I was seated near a window and noticed the place seemed a bit run down. My booth had cracked vinyl seats. Carpet seemed worn, and when I was in the restroom, it was very rusty. But nevertheless I was hoping for a good meal. The server was nice, attentive, and eager to answer any of my questions. I like a lot of spice, so he suggested some dishes and said he could have them adjust the heat level. Ultimately chose the Sichuan chili wontons and three pepper chicken, with brown rice. And I have to say, both were delicious!! The wontons were a little heavy on the salt, but still tasty, and my chicken dish was really flavorful, especially with the added red chili peppers and the chili paste that was brought to the table. They also had some drink specials like 2 for 1 beers, which I took advantage of. Beer and Chinese, natural great combo! Also loved their brown rice!! By the time I was ready to leave, about 8 pm, the restaurant had gained a few patrons, but was still over 50% empty. So I wonder how long they can keep going. But all in all, my food was delicious, my waiter was great, and I would not hesitate to go back. I hope they're still open the next time I'm in the mood. Added note: I went back and had the riblets as an appetizer and the same tree pepper chicken as my entree. Posted pics. The food is really good here!

Google
Good Chinese food restaurant near Stamford mall. Service was very fast and had sufficiently good portion size. There is ample seating space. Some food might be really spicy (3 chillies on the menu), but you can request a lower spice level. We tried fried flounder fish in small plates and General tso, golden mountain chicken and shrimp fried rice as main course. Definitely worth trying and revisiting

Google
Really great authentic chinese food in a solid but no nonsense interior. My friends who grew up in China all go here & told us about it, I've been going for years. Double Cooked Pork Belly & Pepper Chicken dishes are favorites, and kids love the bubble pancake w curry sauce. Really a gem in the area and not expensive for a group.

Google
Sat at the bar and ordered a light dinner, loved the soup dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, and fried chicken. The spicy cauliflower special was also quite tasty. I’ll be back soon!

Google
Pleasantly surprised! I don’t know what all these other reviews are talking about, the food was actually really good. I’ll admit I was skeptical at first but it ended up being gas. Although the atmosphere was alright (interesting music choice), the food is extremely flavorful, savory and spicy. My new spot. Try the noodles and chili wantons, so good.

Google
Disappointed with the food. We ordered many different dishes. All were piping hot in the inside and cold outside. My plate was broken and my cup chipped. Very unsatisfied with the food. However, on another note our server Angela was very attentive and apologetic. Her service was good.

Google
Is a charming restaurant located within the Stamford town center mall. We were served by Margarita who was an excellent hostess; very kind, charming, and attentive. One of the best servers I have had in many years. thank you Margarita for an amazing experience.

Google
Best Chinese restaurant in Fairfield, Westchester and NY area. The portions are big and the quality is very good. The prices are excellent for what you get. The staff is always very friendly. Our waitress Angela has the best personality. All her recommendations were delicious. The mangolian Lamb, the mixed vegetables, Dim Sum, the bokshoy with Tofu skin is a must. I highly recommend to try their lunch specials and Happy Hour.

Yelp
Peter Chang's a popular Chinese restaurant chain in the mid-Atlantic near Washington D.C. I was surprised to discover they had a location as far north as Connecticut, so i stopped in. The restaurant is pretty nice, and looks quite modern. The menu is very similar to their other locations, they serve Szechuan Chinese food. I usually get the same things, a protein such as fish, chicken, or pork, tossed with Szechuan spices and peppers. The food is delicious, though most of the items I order taste very similar. Prices are fair, definitely worth stopping if you're in the area and enjoy spicy Chinese food.

Michelle R.

Yelp
It was pretty decent! We ordered to go. The steamed pork dumplings with sauce of the side were quite good! Chicken lo mein was also tasty. The duck was rather disappointing as it was very greasy and the sauce was thick and odd. Overall okay.

Peter Y.

Yelp
Food was overly salty and expensive! I wish Stamford had a decent hole in the wall take out place.

Anatoli L.

Yelp
Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Stamford. We visited the restaurant for lunch. We got scallion pancake to share, and it was delicious, served with a very tasty dipping sauce. My main dish was Kung Pao chicken. It was excellent, very tasty and what was the most important for me, it was spicy as advertised. In most of other places, the dishes are marked as "hot" but offer little or no heat. Here, the dish was marked " very spicy" and that how it was. Very good service, prompt and friendly. Recommended.

Dave G.

Yelp
It's a 'go to' for us. While we wish there was just a bit more variety (especially dim sum and soups , if you like spicy you won't go wrong here. Our favorite is the spicy basil chicken.

Adam L.

Yelp
The food was very good and it had a diverse menu. Service good but not great. Portions were generous but the dinner plates were too small. Prices average for casual dining plus. I would come back.

Adrian V.

Yelp
My family and I love this place. I wish there were more people that go in there. Staff is nice, food is really really good. Couldn't be happier with it.

Mitchell T.

Yelp
We've been here twice so far and had delivery twice. All different plates and each one more amazing than the last. Love the crispy pork bellies and flounder bamboo basket. Tried all is the starters. And all were delicious. Location is also great as I'm a regular at the comedy club. Recommend without a doubt.

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Tasty food. Tough to find good Chinese food in Stamford but this spot hits the spot. It is a bit more expensive than other options but it is very good . We got several entrees , they were all good

Sophia Y.

Yelp
The food is always consistently great here. The service is also a plus and they make sure you feel welcome. The one issue I have is that they have recently started cleaning off tables with a bleach cleaner when a group leaves. I'm all for cleaning but wish they would use a non-bleach sanitizing spray as the bleach is veryyy prominent and makes for an unpleasant stench for a bit of time.

Benjamin H.

Yelp
Decided to try Peter Chang for lunch today. Very disappointed. The "three pepper chicken" was chicken and onions in a sweet brown sauce, with a tiny amount of green pepper and basil. The Kung Pao chicken also did not seem properly spiced. I wish I had had the presence of mind to pay the bill, leave, and need somewhere else, instead of putting this glop into my body out of politeness. We brought our toddler in a stroller, and the non-revolving doors all seemed locked, so we had to wander around looking for an entrance before a member of the staff decided to let us in. The dumplings and hot and sour soup seemed all right.

Yelp
I am writing this review based on other Peter Chang restaurants I've been to, my food experience, and my overall experience. I love Momofuku!! Let's just say that I was expecting much more. Our family of 7 went there for a family dinner....reservations recommended to get good seating!! We did not have reservations and had to split between 2 tables. First off, the menu is huge!! I find it very hard to pick from so many dishes and options. I wish my Taiwanese friend was with me because she would have taken care of the ordering! Instead, I used some Yelp reviews to narrow it down. I didn't want to order the usual things and instead wanted a Szechuan experience. Here are our favorites: Pork soup dumplings!!! Super YUM! Szechuan chili wontons! Dan Dan noodles and Scallion bubble pancake were a hit too. Our kids liked the Black Pepper beef, shredded pork in spicy garlic sauce, fried rice, and Lo mein. The Szechuan chili chicken was good but that spice is REAL! I can handle spice but this was too much for me to really enjoy the dish. And, it had so many small dried red chilis that it was hard to separate them out to eat only the chicken....too much work! I was sweating and panting. Lastly, there was one dish that was just not good at all: Hot & numbing flounder stone pot...the flavor was just terrible so neither my husband nor I ate it. When the staff came to pick it up, they noticed we did not eat it and the manager took it off our bill....that was super nice of them and they didn't have to do that. I liked having the pictures on the menu because we primarily choose items based on them. If the menu could be condensed, I would prefer that, as well as a small list of specials or rotating dishes. At this point, I would not go back and I'm not happy that this is how it ended. At least our kids enjoyed the dinner!! It might be a good idea to order more general dishes.

Yelp
This is my favorite Szechuan style Chinese restaurant in Fairfield County. No need to go to Queens! One of the other things that I value about this restaurant is the consistency. Each time we dine here I get exactly what I anticipate, meeting all of those mouth numbing Szechuan flavors I crave. My very favorite dishes arethe CHONGQING fried chicken and the bamboo flounder fish. I appreciate that they serve Dan Dan noodles without pork which is a rarity. The dragon eggplant eggplant in spicy garlic sauce with firm tofu is also outstanding. Although the bar will attempt to accommodate, I find that they lack in variety limiting your choices for cocktails. Parking is annoying as it's under the Stamford mall. The ambience is decent with banquette seating and tables with a small bar. Warmer months allowed for outdoor seating but the view isn't so great. Service is always excellent. Each server is well-versed on the menu, food comes out, fast and hot. And I've never had the experience where I had to send anything back. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing! We were visiting from out of state and had a hankering for some good Asian food. We did a search and saw this place had some great reviews so we thought we would give it a shot and man we are so glad we did. The food was so on point and delicious we couldn't ask for better. The server never let our waters be empty. And the atmosphere was so elegant. The steamed dumplings were so perfectly prepared it left us wanting more. We also had the golden mountain chicken (which was so amazing and mouth watering), the black pepper beef (so well seasoned) and the chicken lo mein (which was amazing as well). We highly recommend this place to anyone that passes through and will definitely go again if we are in the area again

Rebecca S.

Yelp
overpriced and mediocre food. Haven't found good Chinese in Fairfield county. Was hopefully about this place but it disappoints as well

Anna L.

Yelp
I had thought that Peter Chang was a mediocre chain Chinese restaurant probably because it has a similar name to one. While it has several locations in different states, the food here is pretty good. This restaurant serves Szechuan food but also have other Chinese dishes including Americanized Chinese. I order two lunch specials, mongolian beef and hot & numbing flounder. I expected the Mongolian beef to be sweeter. There were a lot of onions. It is a bit spicy and was too salty. Not bad if it wasn't so salty. I was surprised by the size of the hot and numbing flounder. It was in a quart sized container with a pint of rice on the side! The flavor was very good with a good amount of fish. Despite the name the spice level is not that bad if you don't eat the peppers. Under the layer of hot oil and pepper flakes, the soup below is not spicy. Delicious dish which I highly recommend.

Dan S.

Yelp
Came by for lunch and was not disappointed. When we started, it was a bit cold and they brought a cup of hot and sour soup. This was not your father's soup. It is full of good stuff but it was actually hot too. Very spicy. And then we went for soup dumplings. Really enjoyed them with a good amount of soup broth and good pork meat inside. Very flavorful and fresh. Not too heavy on the dumpling. I then went with shredded pork which wasn't too spicy and enough for leftovers too. Lots of meat and vegetables. Spice was not overwhelming. Price was right and service was efficient. Overall, a winning combination.

Nicole A.

Yelp
An Absolute go to for Chinese as long as I'm living in CT !!! They say they don't use MSG and I believe them because I don't get acid reflux or a stomach ache after I eat. Not to mention, I'm not hungry after I eat. Weird but with msg, it keeps you hungry. This place is good delivery but I prefer to pick it up seems just better and fresher. I would eat here too if we lived closer and parking wasn't an issue. Definitely one of the best Chinese food I've had Solid 4.5 stars!

Alison S.

Yelp
I ordered three items for takeout: General Tso's chicken, Dan Dan Noodles, and Pork Dumplings. The dumplings were the best part. The chicken was nothing to write home about and was pretty expensive (I know, what do I expect from a mall restaurant). It was disappointing as a "bestseller" - I wanted crispy general tso's like I've gotten from Ren Dumpling House in Norwalk. Instead I got a soggy, saucy mess that was pretty bland. The Dan Dan noodles were pretty bland and could've used the traditional ground pork to liven it up. The dumplings weren't crispy despite being pan-fried but they packed a lot of flavor. Overall it wasn't worth it and I won't be coming back. Instead I suggest you try local Chinese if you're new to the area like me. There's gotta be something at least as good and less pricey.

Yelp
Had a really delicious meal here with really great service. Our waiter, Jon, was exceptional. We asked recommendations and he went over the menu telling us which were the most popular and which he thought were really special. We loved the Cumin lamb and the scallion bubble pancake. The dragon eggplant he recommended was also excellent. We also enjoyed Peking Duck and General Tso's chicken. A really nice place for a family dinner

Tina U.

Yelp
We ended up here unplanned on our way back to NY from Amherst. We were the first customers when they opened in the evening for dinner. Our server was attentive most of the time, and showed up right away when we called out. LOL. The food was tasty. Good portion size. Loved the Dan Dan Noodles, really good flavors. Was our best dish. Three Pepper Chicken was spicy and not too over powering. We requested it to be prepared a bit spicy. Dragon Eggplant (we requested to add soft tofu) was also pretty good. Presentation was nice. Overall, we would come back again if we were in the area.

Curtis K.

Yelp
always good. very consistent and delicious. standouts are eggplant app peking duck shrimp vermicelli dan dan noodles and the pepper beef. most are pictured here

Erica W.

Yelp
My mom and I came here on a Saturday at 3ish so it was pretty empty inside. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful with the menu items. I got the golden mountain chicken and it was delish! My mom got general tso's chicken and her was really good as well! I'll say the amount of food could easily be 1 dish for 2 people but leftovers were good the next day. The pan fried dumplings, yum! There is a full bar in the back. It's pretty big inside and I imagine it gets busy at dinner time. Comfortable booths around the perimeter. I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Chia L.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday on the way home from MA. Ordered the fried string beans, bamboo flounder fish, Peter Chang hot and numbing combination, two brown rice and a white rice, Jing Jiang shredded pork.

Jesse R.

Yelp
This restaurant was fantastic! Food was hot and fresh. I love spicy food and their options definitely hit the spot - Super tasty! The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and kind. The waiter also explained the specials thoroughly and gave suggestions. I will definitely be returning!

Anne-Marie G.

Yelp
Just moved to Stamford and had bookmarked this place. Was on my way back from Norwalk and since it's easy from 95, decided to pick up some lunch for takeout. Service was pleasant and efficient (I was there early, 11:30am; however, with only one waiter on im sure it could get hectic.) Ordered the Wuhei sesame noodles which are excellent. Got the lunch special Szechuan Chili beef... first bite very fatty but the rest really good and spicy. Good overall.

Erica S.

Yelp
This place has gone so far down hill. When it originally opened the food was so good, very authentic and flavorful and a different addition to the Stamford foodie scene. Covid hit and I know they suffered like many other restaurants - there was one time they served us our meals in foil.. which was strange. We decided to keep going back a few more times and unfortunately after last night it will be our last time. This review is hopefully to open the eyes of management and get some real leadership back in the front of the restaurant. Before we even sat down I knew this would be a disaster- one of the waitresses (the one with pink hair) was outside lighting up and smoking marijuana less than 4 feet from the front door, choking us as we all walked in. Whatever you want to do is your business, but doing it in the front of the restaurant is a terrible look. Food particles floating in the beer. Dirty silverware, a filthy table and booth, disgusting bathrooms. I couldn't even eat my meal because who knows how the kitchen looks. We ordered and our food was out in no joke, 5 minutes. This tells me the obvious that they pre make meals and set them in warmers for when people order. Fine, you want to have a buffet setup, but please charge me buffet pricing then ($25 for general tsao). The duck has always been such a home run dish and quite frankly the only thing that kept us coming back. Dry, flavorless and I noticed mold on one of the wraps they served alongside it. Save your money and go to one of the other nice restaurants in the same little plaza- plenty to choose from. This place clearly does not care about competing anymore

Kai C.

Yelp
Reliable food, good atmosphere and good service. Good is fresh and came quickly. Definitely order the bubble pancake. The cucumber was also. Good starter, garlicky and crunchy.

Oliver L.

Yelp
I first tried Peter Chang's in Charlottesville, Virginia and had no idea who he was at the time. If you don't know either, take 2 minutes and Google his name. Peter Chang has built up quite the enigmatic reputation of opening up highly successful restaurants in seemingly random locations and then moving on after some time without much reason. However, wherever he goes he build up a group of devoted fans because his food is DELICIOUS. Despite the façade of the restaurant, which probably confuses many people into thinking this is closer to a P.F. Chang's, the food is amazing, authentic while still being quite affordable. If you've never tried Szechuan food be prepared for the SPICE, not just in terms of raw heat, but the numbing peppercorns which are a whole new experience in themselves. Make sure to try the dry fried eggplant!

Charles L.

Yelp
We had an excellent lunch at Peter Chang today. We started with the lettuce wrapped chicken, lettuce was slightly brown at the edges. Then we had two fabulous dishes, stir fried green beans in our sauce with onions, Red Pepper, and Sichuan pepper; and kung pao chicken and a beautiful sauce with cashews, asparagus, onion, and red pepper. We also had brown rice. We had great service, the food came out fast, and it was all really really good.

Patrick P.

Yelp
Meh. This place used to be quite good. Now it seems like they have compromised their authentic flavors for suburban palates. That or they've just lost their commitment to quality. I always have to convince my family to order here. They prefer cheap American Chinese. So I lost all credibility with them with the flavors from our most recent experience. Don't think I'll be coming back. Will try Enchanted Schezuan in Norwalk again if I'm jonesing for the real deal Chinese food. Otherwise, I will give in to my family that prefers the American style.

Sai G.

Yelp
The food is great. The fried eggplant with flavored peppers is too good. Tofu is not that great, its too soft. Chang flounder fish is also good for people who like sea food. Also the spicy margarita is ok ok. But the stood out food for me was the fried egg plant.

Arya R.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Some of the best Chinese food I've had and I've had a ton of Chinese food. All Super fresh and flavorful, not overly greasy. Good mix of authentic and American Chinese dishes all done right, great portion size for price.

C M.

Yelp
The food here is amazing, best Szechuan food outside of NYC. Service is lacking- waited 10 minutes at the "wait to be seated" sign before someone acknowledged I was there. Multiple people who worked there walked by but didn't look at me, or say hi, or ask what I needed. Food is totally worth it if you're okay dealing with mediocre service.

Fish L.

Yelp
It was our ladies night out and we picked Peter Chang in Stamford for the gathering. There were 10 of us and we could all squeeze into one round table. Great for that! Since we are Chinese, we know exactly what to order. We ordered Peking duck, hot and numbing founder stone pot, dry-friend string beans, dragon eggplant, black pepper beef, golden mountain chicken, and a few others. The best was unquestionably the Peking duck with steamed and thin pancakes. To our disappointment, all the other dishes turned out to have too similar tastes as if they were cooked in the exactly same dark sauce. The tastes were too salty with too much sauce. To balance the saltiness, we had to order more and more rice to go with the dishes. I'm not sure about others, but I'll think twice if I want to come back to this restaurant.

Chalita P.

Yelp
Located right next to the mall. When I came across this restaurant, I had a fear of it being a chain restaurant and therefore unauthentic. Don't be confused, there's no relation between PF Chang's and Peter Chang. The food came out super quick and they didn't skimp out on the portion size. My waitress was slow and not attentive but you can quickly flag someone else to take care of you. I recommend you coming with a larger party so you can sample a few dishes. But if not, the two plates I tried are delicious. I got the Dry fried string bean and Chang's hot and numbing combination. The reason why I chose the latter is because you get a bit of everything - a perfect harmony of beef, chicken, shrimp, and flounder fillet seasoned with Szechuan spices. I also insist you get white rice instead of brown, it pairs better. I love Szechuan food! If you come here you have to order it spicy!

Renjinlu C.

Yelp
If you want to find the most authentic Chinese restaurant within 20 miles of Stamford, this is probably it. The restaurant is Sichuan cuisine based, and the food is authentically spicy. To my pleasant surprise, it also has one good Shanghai styled lion's head that worth mentioning - if you are incidentally a meatball lover. The Shanghai styled meatball supposedly should melt in your mouth, and they did it right.

Susy T.

Yelp
This is a Sichuan / Szechuan Restaurant- it isn't Hunan or Cantonese cuisine. It has particular flavor profiles that are not found in your neighborhood Chinese take out spots. Be warned, if you don't enjoy spicy mala flavors, you may not enjoy... For me, they made PERFECT MaPo dofu! (Silken soft tofu, not the fried bits you find at takeout places) It is difficult to find authentic Sichuan/Szechuan chinese food in CT. Tired of driving into NYC or New Haven, we tried Peter Chang's and was really pleased. Right texture, flavor and spice. A lot of places do not use enough sichuan peppercorn, this is the real deal. Their Chongqing Chicken is avail as an appetizer, but it is a huge portion. Great flavor and spice, the chicken pieces had more cornstarch coating dredged than i prefer, but it was perfectly crispy - a great dry fry, with the right amt of oil, chili and peppercorn. There are non-spicy dishes available as well, for those palates that need a break from spice. We ordered the Beggars Ribs with little cumin potatoes; my hubby enjoyed it a lot! We also tried the dan dan mein, and dry fry string beans. The dan dan was tasty, but had less sichuan peppercorn and more red chili, but a good amt of sui mi ya cai and teeny bits of pork. The dry string beans had spice, which I wasn't expecting, a different twist on the dish, but was still quite tasty. Portions a really huge. Servers were kind & professional and checked on us a few times. We'll return for sure!

Yelp
So I've been coming here for awhile now I'm not a fan of the owner to much but the host BRE!!!! Is so amazing she's helpful and people need to stop giving this girl a hard time, she's a hard working young lady, some stuck up people make it impossible for people to do their jobs sometimes with their attitudes or stupidness, it's no need, if you go here I recommend when you go ask specially for BRE as your waiter she's an hard worker at Peter Chang

Carol D.

Yelp
first time at this restaurant. The service was good - pleasant and efficient. However the restaurants heat was not working properly and though they had space heaters around the dining room, we had to wear our coats while dining and the waitresses wore coats. .But the most important factor I feel in a restaurant is the food. We were there with 10 people and two toddlers and everything we ordered we asked to make it light on the spice but nevertheless half the people couldn't even eat their food and most of them really like spice. And all the waitress said was I asked them not to put so much spice but they did nothing about deducting the cost or replacing the item so I spent almost $500 on the food that was inedible

Lana L.

Yelp
High quality and mostly authentic Sichuanese restaurant with a bit of a twist, offering items like fried eggplant. Came here because my friends had heard good things about the restaurant. We ordered several dishes, but my favorite was the Peking duck because of how well it was prepared. The skin of the duck was crisp and beautiful. I noticed that a lot of the dishes we ordered were not as spicy as usual when they were supposed to be. Not necessarily a bad thing. Service was very good. They are located next to the Barnes & Noble and Kona Grill. Taste | 4.5 Atmosphere | 4 Presentation | 4 Service | 4 OVERALL | 4.5

Yelp
Take note of the negative reviews folks!!! Wtf is it with the food here!!! Omg I'd give it zero stars if I could. This is for the peter Chang in Stamford. worn down eatery (cheap carpets/ Tables/seating. It's what you say is the opposite of posh Starters fried pork dumplings - tasteless - what were they wrapped in - melted plastic? 2 Sauces were horrible CQ fried chicken - spicy. So dry Beef with vermicelli hot pot - spicy. Beef was inedible. Soup was awful and overpowered with coriander flavor Szechuan chili shrimp - spicy. Just too dry and bland again Rice dry and out of a rice cooker?? Didn't like any of the 4 meals. Tap water was ok Had a glass of wine which was ok but we came for the food and we score the food 0/10 Service was ok but took nearly 10 minutes to be seated at a fairly quiet time. The staff were probably on a break Won't be returning to this or any other Peter Chang 'place' - I'd suggest others avoid

Mari K.

Yelp
Ive ordered a few times now, and I keep hoping the result it better. Tonight we ordered because Enchanted Szechuan, my go-to, is now closed on Tuesdays. I was excited to see the prices for a few items are slightly lower, so figured why not! We tried the dan dan noodles (a staple), and the grandma noodles, which I haven't had before but the description sounded great. Unfortunately none of the noodles held up compared to other options around. The dan dan noodles were ok, but lacked flavor and were very light on meat. The consistency seemed off, and the noodles themselves definitely didn't have that hand made feel. The grandma noodles were really disappointing. The description had included ground lamb, but I honestly couldn't find any meat at all. I was joking that we received the vegetarian version. The noodles were just ok and the flavor was like a simple chili oil. I think this was my last attempt ordering from Peter Chang. I can see they're trying to replicate authentic Szechuan, but unfortunately it's not working. They have great customer service and hoping they can pivot to something that works better for them.

James L.

Yelp
This is not the other Chang that sells subpar food with selections in grocery stores!!! This is Peter, an incredible chef who even got sued by that other Chang chain. I was incredibly surprised by this food. Came in with family by accident and it was such a delicious time. The authenticity of each dish was the shocker. Soup dumpling were my favorite and since each of us got a different kind, I would try each one. Generous portions so we were able to share and had a bit to take home. Utterly worth it!

Alex K.

Yelp
Does Peter Chang replace a trip to Flushing or Fort Lee? No. But it does solve the problem of there being no good Chinese restaurants in Stamford. Especially good appetizers were the Grandma's Noodles, Wuhan Sesame Noodle, Scallion Bubble Pancake. My top actual dishes are the Dragon Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce and the Minced Flounder and Tofu Stew. Chicken Lo Mein is also good. The Peking Duck and Soup Dumplings were both disappointing, although I'd give both a second chance if I eat in the actual restaurant instead of getting takeout.

Yelp
I just had the worst restaurant experience of my 50+ years. My wife and I were looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year with my daughter and her boyfriend. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 mains. The staff brought one appetizer and then less than 2 minutes later, the 3 mains. We said we didn't want our mains at that time, but we did want our 2nd appetizer. Also, we didn't have enough room on the table for all the food. The waitress said this happened because they had run out of food and the kitchen was closing, so we had to get all of the food at once. Even though we didn't want to, we had to move to a larger table to fit the food. It ruined the intimate dinner and forced all of us to keep standing up to get food plates and pass them amongst the group. All of this was especially difficult for my wife who has celebrated Chinese New Year her entire life and is 9 months pregnant. 15 minutes later the 2nd appetizer showed up. We said all of this was unacceptable, ruined our meal, and asked to speak with the manager. 20 minutes later he showed up and agreed that it was unacceptable. He offered us free desserts which was a horrible response. We suggested he speak to the waitress to get a better understanding of what happened in the kitchen. When he spoke to the waitress, it escalated to a screaming match that everyone in the restaurant could hear. They moved to the kitchen, but we could still hear the screaming. A plate or dish was thrown which shattered. Then the waitress went out to the bar and shattered another plate or dish. Even though they gave us free desserts that we didn't want and 2 free drinks, it didn't come close to making up for the horrific experience. We are never going back and will make sure our friends know to avoid it.

Yelp
We ordered delivery on seamless and it definitely seemed like high quality Chinese food. The dumplings were definitely homemade. Tons of veggies in the dumplings but would have been better mixed with shrimp. The Kung poa chicken had chunks of asparagus and the chicken was tender.

Yelp
Haven't gone almost a year and half, hope the owner from Washington sent someone to rescue this place. No! We tried our usual favorite dishes just to see. Grandma's noodles still okay, so was the fried fish fillet appetizer. But the fried spicy pig knuckle was inedible. Pieces came in two-by-four instead of cut into bite-size chunks like before, and they were too hard to bite or chew. The waitress said the chef is just too lazy and won't listen to her. The lady's room was a disaster area. One stall is out of order while the other won't flush. Don't know how long this place will stay open, what a shame!

Yelp
I give Peter Changs 5* for food and 2-3* for service. I've been there twice in the last two weeks (don't judge!) and my experience both times were similar. I called on Lunar New Year to get a reservation for dinner (admittedly, same day, I knew they'd likely say no). They said no more reservations. I asked if they accept walk ins. They said yes, but don't count on getting in today, wait time is uncertain. Being from NYC, I am happy to wait even an hour.. so I dragged my family at 4:45pm with expectation to wait. Surprisingly, there were maybe 3 other groups there. We were seated immediately and we breathed a sigh of relief that we had beat the crowd (or so se thought). The restaurant was never more than 1/4 full the entire time. There were maybe 2 servers. Ours was polite and pleasant but not very attentive. Had to ask multiple times for forks... napkins... basics. We asked for water multiple times and finally my husband walked back to the bar to ask her to bring it (our mouths were in FIRE). She stared at him and goes "is there ANYTHING else you need?" As if we were being super demanding. Lol. Umkay. On the bright side-- the food was delicious and the portions large!! Fried flounder and eggplant were ridiculous. Best ma po tofu and green beans ever. Beggars ribs were insane. Seafood curry amazing! We left full and satisfied. We saw groups of people waiting at hostess stand for long periods of time... Came back that next week with a group of 9 Asian women. This time, we did have a reservation. We may have ordered everything on the menu! Everything was amazing. Maybe a little too spicy if you order as it's recommended (4 peppers means your head will explode!!). Same Server-- slow. Pleasant. Not attentive. Never refilled our waters. Lol. And the food was SPICY!! I will say... food is amazing. Location is upscale but the service is similar to what you'd get in Chinatown. Maybe worse. :-P
