Petit Pomeroy is coming to River North - Eater Chicago

"Petit Pomeroy reverse engineers the typical restaurant trajectory by starting in the suburbs and moving to the city. It is the smaller sibling to Winnetka’s Pomeroy, emphasizing a classic French bistro concept with a focus on comfort food. The restaurant offers a more pared-down menu than its suburban counterpart, highlighting popular dishes like the warm tomato tart and short rib Bourguignon, alongside French bistro classics such as bouillabaisse and escargots. The beverage menu emphasizes French wines and cocktails like the French 75. The interior features red leather banquettes, brass railings, and vintage posters, with views of Holy Name Cathedral from its second-floor location." - Lisa Shames

Such an amazing food experience! The restaurant was so cozy and calm. The waitress was super nice! Ordered the three course menu that was available from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm. It was phenomenal! Highly recommended for your special date night and celebrations!

Google
Classic French cuisine at its best. From a simple baguette and butter to the lobster risotto. Everything was chefs kiss. Cocktails are top notch and dessert just took it over the top. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. P.S. if you are at the bar makes sure Christiana hooks you up. She is top notch!

Google
The most wonderful experience from start to finish. We were celebrating my dad and they went out of their way to make his night special! The hostess knew the occasion and gave us personalized menus, the server and manager congratulated him multiple times, and we even received a complimentary champagne and desert. Shannon our server was so warm and helpful and our food was excellent. Honestly the best French onion soup and creme brûlée that I've ever had. The ambience is lovely as well. This restaurant is worth every penny and we can't wait to return.

Google
We celebrated the birthday last week, the customer service was so great, they prepared the menu with your name on it to surprise you. Highly recommend if you have some special occasions need to celebrate. For food, we were a little bit disappointed by some entrees, like Escargots, it’s really bland, and maybe the snails were not too fresh, they tasted really bitter. And for their daily special - scallop, portion is really small, hope they can give some more sides. But chicken liver mousse is outstanding, Bouillabaisse is worth the money.

Google
Blown away by the overall experience. Staff was so polite and organized throughout the entire dinner. Food was perfectly cooked and presented . Also had one of the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. Will be coming back to try more of their menu on our next visit

Google
The restaurant is very cozy and immediately reminds us of the Parisian atmosphere! The service, starting with the hostess, plus all staff is impeccable. We loved the menu and made excellent choices. Highlights include the lobster risotto, served on Mondays, and the divine onion soup. The desserts are perfect, and the profiteroles are the best I've ever had. We loved the experience! I highly recommend it.

Hands down one of the best dinners I’ve ever had. Every dish was perfection and the wine list is top tier. Eli behind the bar made it a marvelous visit. One of the top restaurants in Chicago. Petit Pomeroy is an instant favorite!

Ballyhoo does it again! We love Denuccis, Old Pueblo and Gemini so wanted to try the newest city addition and it did not disappoint. The vibes are great and you do feel like you've been transported to Paris and the food is delicious... 1. Baguette - Straight out of the oven and delicious 2. Tomato Tarte- Both of our favorite dish of the night. Perfectly flaky, seasoned so well, perfect amount of salt. I will be dreaming of this appetizer. 3. Roasted Chicken- Very good, large! 4. My husband got the fish (I think it was black bass?) from the valentines weekend specials and very much enjoyed 5. Macaroni Gratin- Creamy and delicious 6. Apple tarte dessert with vanilla gelato , the perfect ending to dinner ! The only miss of the night was the "Le Petit" cocktail which I personally didn't enjoy at all, however the Bleu 75 was very refreshing and I'd order that again. Can't wait to come back- they also serve weekend lunch with a different menu!

Yelp
Petit Pomeroy is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The chicken was INCREDIBLE. It comes with thyme jus that you pour over the chicken and roasted duck fat potatoes. The jus skyrockets the dish to another level. Insanely delicious. The foie gras was divine. It was a special on the evening we dined. If it is available, order it because it's some of the best we ever had. Escargots à la Bourguignonne Pernod Butter is everything you could ever want from a French restaurant. The Lobster Risotto was a seafood lover's dream. It strikes the perfect balance between comfort food and elevated dining. The service was superb. The waitstaff is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very thoughtful. Kindness is clearly valued at Petit Pomeroy. The ambiance is inviting, warm and lovely.

Yelp
We didn't realize this cozy restaurant was on the second floor of what was Gemini Grill in the One Chicago building, which is currently closed for renovations. The restaurant is what you would expect and Monday night was half price on wine! The service was fantastic! We started with a half dozen of oysters and they were perfect. Monday is lobster risotto night so my wife ordered it. Very good! I like trout and their's was perfectly done. By the way, get the house baguette. This is a nice getaway for good food and atmosphere.

Yelp
Food was decent. I wish they served some of the stuff they listed on their specials everyday instead of one day a week though. The escargots were in a pesto sauce which was good but it wasn't buttery and smooth enough to spread on the bread. The steak was medium with a nice char but ended up feeling more like well done. Fries were kinda like McDonald's but with a great dipping by sauce. I know they are new but their service is top tier! So helpful when it came to recommendations. Definitely got super busy by 7, and extremely loud inside. Kind of crowded seating which wasn't my favorite. Everyone seemed dressed business casual and above.

Yelp
Very quant space. Small with a great vibe. Reservations are a must. Very limited bar seating. That being said, the staff is great. Extremely aware of their customers and noticed it was taking some time to get seated for our reservation and the manager came over to buy us a drink. We were seated about 15 min after our reservation. I missed out on the scallops but I got the burger and believe the hype. It's delicious! My boyfriend got the Cajun chicken and he cleaned the plate. We decided to try the desserts and got the vanilla crème brûlée and berry cobbler. Both were great. We live in the building so we will definitely be back. Looking forward to having delivery as an option soon

Yelp
Petit pomeroy is located right above the Gemini grille located next to the Whole Foods. The restaurants ambiance is super cozy with plenty of seating and an area at the bar. The bar has a great view with windows overlooking the church on state street. I arrived on a Thursday evening and sat at the bar. Christiana provided exceptional hospitality and provided great recommendations on the menu. I ordered the steak frites medium rare (as suggested) and my friend ordered the lobster roll. Both were delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was the perfect pair. I really appreciated that Christiana offered to try her favorite wine pairing with the steak to add flavor. The lobster roll was PACKED with tons of lobster meat on a fresh buttery roll. I definitely plan to come back and dine here again.

Yelp
Classic French bistro - fairly pricey but normal for the high-end location. Sat at bar and had the steak frites and onion soup.

Yelp
I've dined here four times and every time the food and service have been outstanding! Enjoy sitting at the bar and looking outside at the beautiful buildings. Had the 1/2 chicken last night...cooked perfectly and tasted delicious.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dining experience at Petit Pomeroy early on a Saturday evening. The ambience is very French, the dining room comfortable (and not too loud - like too many restaurants these days), and the is service extremely accommodating. We aware that the restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, so you have a staircase to negotiate to get to the place. (There is an elevator I presume.) Fresh French Baguette is offered (although $5.00) and is warm, crusty, and wonderful. (The days of free bread is fast disappearing in mot restaurants, sadly). The drinks were excellent. The French Onion Soup is wonderful. Our table had the Risotto, the Poulet Cajun, and the Lobster Roll. All were quite good. The Poulet and Lobster Roll came with Frites. While the frites were traditionally French, they were too salty - our entire table agreed on this point. The wine list was decent, but not intimidating. Our waitress, Shannon, was wonderful and very attentive. Water was refilled quickly, and plates cleared promptly. Although a bit expensive, we can easiy recommend.

Yelp
Ohh! Ballyhoo has done it again. These are the people behind Gemini, Gemini Grill, DeNuccis and etc. The original Pomeroy is in Winnetka, which I haven't been to. I had Pommes Frites. The staff and service are magnifique.

Yelp
Great French bistro upstairs in Gemini restaurant. Charming room with attentive staff, affordable wine list and bistro favorites. We split a few things and all were very good. Warm baguette with butter started us off, bottle of Côtes du Rhône, then a wonderful frisée aux lardons salad, Poulet Cajun, and finished it off with my fav, Tarte Tatin. I'll definitely be back, maybe sit at the bar & try their burger.

Yelp
They made our anniversary so special! We had the steak, mussels, and mushrooms and everything was perfect. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Staff, food and ambiance are excellent. Not foo foo, just some standards done really well.

Mary W.

Yelp
Food was amazing ,service was amazing . Everyone was very attentive. So helpful in helping my friends celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Joe M.

Yelp
Petit Pomeroy has it all. Food was excellent. Ambience was to my taste lowkey and private even with close neighbors. Lighting was really nice. Best part: every single person on staff was super nice, friendly and helpful. They were all also funny. A good time was had by all!

Yelp
Very overpriced for what you get and the quality of the food isn't even good for the price. I could barely finish the French Onion Soup, because it was just ok. The service is just alright. The servers will walk up to you every minute to ask if you need more water, or if you're enjoying everything, which gets extremely annoying after a very short while. The atmosphere isn't good at all. The music is terrible and loud, too many people staring at me making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. This place is extremely mediocre, it's just ok at best. Nothing to brag about, and will definitely never come back again. Overall experience is a 1/10

Yelp
Amazing service, food, space. So excited to have another great Ballyhoo restaurant in the neighborhood. Best oysters and lobster roll I have ever had. Jordan Sutton, the GM is fabulous. And Brooke our server was also great. 10/10

Yelp
Always a great place for dinner. Food really good, ambiance very nice, service pretty good.

Yelp
This is an excellent restaurant and the only French restaurant in the north shore that holds its own with Chicago Bistros. Service is excellent. We've never had a less than delicious, well executed meal here. It's packed for a reason night after night in this food desert.

Richard S.

Yelp
This new french bistro is a gem for the neighborhood. The bar service is excellent and drinks are great. The food was delicious and the portions were generous, except for the baguette. The service was excellent and attentive. Had the french onion soup and steak frites, both yummy, and really enjoyed the profiteroles for dessert. The menu is simple with bistro classics cook to perfection. Plan to come back many times.
