Nestled in a charming historical building in the heart of Bregenz, Petrus serves up delicious French and Belgian fare with a stylish yet laid-back vibe.
"The popularity of this place is down to the pleasant combination of café and brasserie, the great location in the centre of the old town – and the delicious food. In this centuries-old building (in which it started out as an inn in 1911), in a charming, understated decor, guests enjoy dishes such as beef tartare, pasta, risotto or coq au vin, and then of course there is the house speciality: mussels. Sandwiches are also available at lunchtime. In addition to wine, they serve beer from Belgium, where the owner and his wife lived for a time. The terrace in front of this building in a pedestrianised area is also a nice feature. Tip for motorists: parking at the Rathaus-Parkplatz 50m away." - Michelin Inspector
"A local favorite, Petrus is a cafe and brasserie by day in a historical house dating back to 1911, when it first opened as a modest inn and restaurant. Located in the middle of Bregenz, the Belgian and French restaurant is uncomplicated in both its decor and dishes, but the team performs at a high level with ingredients that are always fresh and service that’s always friendly. Locals come for the moules frites, made with hand-cut fries. At night, owners Ursula Hillbrand and Peter Brattinga serve dishes they love to eat themselves, like freshly shucked oysters, bouillabaisse, and beetroot risotto served with Tête de Moine cheese." - Michelle Tchea
