This is a hidden gem for sure. I stopped by with my gf in passing .I got some peanut butter bites and they were phenomenal, she got chocolate covered cherries and she with out a doubt loved them. Nice spot where you can pick up a treat for yourself or order by the pound and give someone a gift

Very very disappointed. I never expected the quality to be so poor. I ordered candy apples for my sons bday party. I'm embarrassed to give this as a favor. Sticks had candy all over them and were put in crooked. Looks very sloppy. I called to let them know how disappointed I was and the comment was "well we don't have time to redo them so there's nothing we can do".

This shop is one of the best places in all of Staten Island. Everyone in here is so nice and welcoming. The egg creams are delicious, the fudge is incredible, the coconut patties are sugary clouds of goodness. Every visit has been wonderful. We try something new every time we come. 10/10. I hope Philip's never changes.

The best home made candy I've ever had. Keep trying different things. Love the jelly apples and fruit slices. Also recommend the chocolate covered jelly, marzipan and halavah.

Philip's is Amazing. Popped in with my Mom and Sister. Brought back decades old "Egg Cream " memories 😋 Loved it. Looking forward to coming back when I visit NY.

Excellent! I ordered 1 dozen of each (Cake pops, chocolate covered oreos, chocolate covered pretzels) and when I got there I was in need of their help because my intimate gathering for an announced engagement turn into small engagement party of 50 -60 people. So I asked if they were able to accommodate me and order another dozen cake pops on the spot and yes they did. They only took less then a half hour. Thanks again Philips Candy. Worth every penny. Very happy and delighted.

I’ve been going to Phillips chocolate for 25 years. Still nothing like it the highest quality of chocolate the staff is amazing one of one.

Their chocolate is some of the best I’ve ever tasted! I don’t even like candy apples, but I tried one from this store I even loved that. Everyone was so friendly also. I will definitely be back!

Philips Candy is a small old-school candy store. The staff was very nice. I ordered two different types of Egg Creams, Cherry Rickey Soda, Cotton Candy, Coconut Cookie, Chocolate-dipped Oreo, and an Almond Bark treat. Everything was solid and the prices were very reasonable. Some of the items look to have been sitting in the display cases for some time, however, most items were wrapped, so it was not an issue for me. I could definitely see this as a great place to purchase items for an upcoming event by making an advance order. Awesome to see a long-time local business like this still going strong.

More of a reason why I still continue to frequent Philips Candy shop. Just picked up 6 dozen beautifully made and delicious cake pops . Customer service was exceptional . The sweet lady behind the counter saw I had my little one in my arms and helped bring the box to my car. Love this place

Hear the sad news of the passing of John RIP sir . Every time I made a trip back to the old neighborhood I stopped by with my kids for a treat and John was there as always . The only place I ever found outside of Philip's was Candy Kitchen of Madeira beach Florida that was on the same page as John and Phillip's candy

This place is a blast from the past. Miss out on the 50's then come here and be surrounded by homemade candy delights. My favorite is the marzipan dipped in chocolate. They only make it in the winter. The chocolate and peanuts is delish too.

Absolutely amazing spot. A true Staten Island GEM that I pray never goes out of business!!! Ordered from here for my daughters 4th birthday party last month and I've been raving about them since!! They are professional, on time and affordable. They offer tasty, excellently packaged FRESH popcorn & cotton Candy!!! They're just awesome. I wish I knew of this place sooner.

This place is a GEM! Everything is terrific: the candy, the cake pops. Hands down the best marzipan ever (only available seasonally in the winter). The family that owns the shop is delightful.

The best of all candy shops. The chocolate covered strawberries are wonderful. The pecan balls are great. The chocolate egg cream was like the old fashioned ones that we got in Brooklyn. The whole staff is friendly and there are lots of things to chose from. You can also order things like cotton candy if you are having a party.

Wow! I love all the goodies and this place! I never knew about this place until I looked up, "Best place to get chocolate covered strawberries on Staten Island" and came across the top 10 list on Google. This place didn't disappoint in any way. When I arrived late in the day, they were out of the chocolate covered strawberries however the lady behind the counter offered to make the fresh for me if I didn't mind waiting. I thought that was super nice of her. While I was waiting 4 people came in at different intervals to place an order for a Vanilla egg cream. They must be very good and at 95 cents they are even better. While my strawberries cooled in the case I completed my orders of chocolate covered jelly graham crackers, jelly rings, peanutbutter cups with REAL smooth peanutbutter in them, and a must have candied apples which were amazing. Can't wait to go back for my egg cream and more sweetness.

This is hands down my favorite candy store on Staten Island! It has an old fashioned vibe , antique metal candy scales and cute handwritten signs. It is such a hidden gem and it is family owned and operated since the 1930s. It's so nice to also see the owner himself, John there on a Sunday evening closing. They have specialty candies, chocolates, popcorn, jelly apples and more. Today we tried the famous Coney Islands egg creams and they were delicious. The staff is always friendly and welcoming even coming 10 minutes to closing. They told us that next time we can call and they will even stay opened and hand dip anything we'd like :) The chocolate dipped graham cracker with jelly is absolutely divine and a must try!

Holy cow. I'm not sure how but this was my first time here and I can't wait to go back. I was told by somebody at work that their cake pops and Rice Krispies are good and I need in bulk for my engagement party coming up in July - I already knew I was using Philips based off all the reviews but I'm so happy I got to come in and try some delicious treats for myself. The young lady behind the counter was so sweet and I just loved the old school energy of the place. Wish I could give it 10 stars.

I love this store and for birthdays it's a classic , we always get candy apples or popcorn and cotton candy but overall it's awesome , they have chocolate strawberries, marshmallows , rock candy and anything you can think of! I love this store cause it reminds me of when I was even smaller and the smell makes me nostalgic. The service is awesome too! They are really nice. Ps . They have a kid set and a bundle for dogs . After reading a good review I wanted to check out this candy land since I'm a candy fiend. Apparently use to be located in Coney Island and has loyal followers that venture all the way to staten for it. It is a small storefront with a large candy kitchen in back. It's family run and you can see the original owner making candy in the back with his daughter in charge of the front. They were very friendly and patient as I wanted to buy nearly one piece of everything they made in house. The Jelly candies are amazing, never had better. The gram cracker with jelly dipped in milk chocolate was just as good. The milk chocolate Oreos were delicious. My jelly apple was ok but I would probably get the caramel with nuts in the future. The peanut brittle was unlike I've ever had but tasty but you get a lot in a bag so I couldn't eat it all. The best thing here were the chocolate strawberries 3 for a $1 whatttttttt. They were delicious. The only disappointment was the chocolate covered guava. I didn't know what to expect but it's clear I didn't care for this. After I paid she asked if I would like a complimentary egg creme. I never had one before it was very tasty. The thing that's shocking is how inexpensive it is and yet tastes so good. What a gem. I will certainly order for party's etc in the future.

They have a large variety of nostalgic candies and items which include lime Rickys, cotton candy, colored popcorn, candied ginger. This is a def do not miss spot!

A gem on Staten Island. They are my go to for party favors. Ordered caramel apples with a chocolate drizzle as our wedding favor for guests. The apples were absolutely delicious and so incredibly fresh. Our guests truly loved them! All the employees are so sweet and accommodating. A wonderful little shop.

I love caramel apples with nuts but these apples were old, mealy and gross. I would never return. The chocolate candy with nuts and the Reese's type candy was just okay.

I love going there takes me back to when I was a kid and I was so happy it's open during this pandemic They are social distancing have to wait outside till ppl ahead exit. My grandkids loved it I love the egg creams, Fudge and old fashion candies They are are always so cordial and patient with kids looking all over deciding what they want.

I used to go to Coney Island from Staten Island at least once a week with my father. Sometimes, we'd bring friends, but we always stopped at Phillips on the way home. Phillips was connected to the front of the train station across from Nathan's. They're candy had an amazing curb appeal. From candied apples ,caramel apples , candy or caramel dipped marshmallows on a stick which I call lollapaloozas. There were cashew balls ( marshmallow dipped in caramel dipped in cashews) , cotton candy and frozen chocolate covered bananas. The egg cream was amazing. When the powers that be revitalized the train station , John Dorman ( proprietor) was priced out. Imagine my surprise when I was getting my nails done on Forest Avenue and I looked to my left and I saw the iconic candy store sign. Lo and behold, it was my favorite childhood candy store sitting right there on Barrett Avenue in Staten Island. Since then I have been ordering all my favorite childhood treats for the many birthday parties I have had and now my children are having for their kids. Maria ( John Dorman's daughter) is the redhead with a beautiful smile that assists you when you come into this STILL old-fashioned-looking store to order your treats. The chocolate covered fruit is delicious as well. I would highly recommend ordering candy for a children's party or even a sweet 16 from this family business. The prices are amazing and the vanilla/chocolate egg cream is still only $0.95 Faye S

When there today to buy melting chocolate. This is an older place with delicious offerings. Purchased my chocolate at a faction what I normally pay and it was perfect for my chocolate covered strawberries. They make egg creams for .95 cents! It was a delicious egg cream. I also bought chocolate dipped orange sections and a cashew turtle. Everyone is nice and prices are incredibly reasonable. Will be going back again!

So many sensory memories, so much nostalgia, such plainly darned good candy - I can't imagine giving Philips' Candy anything less than five stars. Like so many, I remember their Stillwell location on Coney Island - but their Staten Island shop offers up treats just as tasty. I'm immeasurably grateful that I share the memory of Philips' in the same way as innumerable others - at the end of a day on Coney Island, just before heading up the ramp to the trains. A little tinged with sunburn and sand, nothing could beat a frozen banana, coconut pattie and chocolate egg cream - an absolute smorgasbord of sweetness. And nobody made (or makes) an egg cream like John Dorman - perfect, and blessedly the first one I ever tried. Oh, Coney just over a decade ago - it was such a different place, still filled with indescribable magic... and Philips' was the flavorful pinnacle of the whole experience. Of course, while Coney is part of Philips' legacy, the Staten Island location isn't to be missed. The same treats greet you upon entering - waiting to transport you back to the old days. Don't miss it.

Best candy store in the island, everything is custom made/made by hand. The prices are ridiculously low,makes me wonder how they are still open for so long. For the holidays they always make some special stuff so I recommend stoping by and checking it out.

Back in the early 80's, my Grandmother would take me to Coney Island for a fun filled day at the beach.On our way to the long F train all the way back to Queens, we always stopped at Philips. My Grandmother would let me pick out rocky road fudge and lollypops and all sorts of delectable goodies. I would eat everything and pass out in a sugar coma and be woken up in Jackson Heights still dreaming about my next Coney day trip. I am typing this as I sit next to Mr. Magnificent, who was the best carnival barker of all time and grew up in Coney Island, and he is raving about the cherry lime ricky, chocolate licorice and frozen chocolate covered bananas with nuts.. Philips covers my memories in warm delicious fudge and if I ever make it to Staten Island, I will lick my way up their property and thank the cavity heavens!

Such a charming neighborhood business. Love the old school vibe and prices! John is such a nice man, I went in to buy jelly rings for my friend's birthday and he insisted on wrapping them and putting ribbon on it for the occasion. Everything is so delicious, I love the chocolate covered (fresh) cherries, the chocolate covered raisins and the chocolate covered strawberries. There's a bigger selection of chocolate items in the colder months because obviously chocolate melts in the heat. There's also other items not just chocolate like cotton candy, marshmellow dipped sticks and candy apples. I know a lot of people that have placed special orders for events and loved it!

Great place love the smell of the candies. I live in Brooklyn can go to their to get my favorite cashew marshmallow balls. Prices are very great and reasonable. Make sure you stop by and get some goodies. Nice seeing you again John and Maria till next visit. Everyone in their are very friendly.

Another Coney Island memory now gone & moved to Staten Island Phillips candy was my favorite place to go get Jelly Apples at 3 am growing up 3 minutes away.... I used to call Mr Phillip to find out when he was dipping them and me and my friends as kids would go watch him dip get some under the Coney Island Train station across from Nathan's OMG !!! YUMMMMY!

this is the best candy store in staten island. This place should be on everybody's bucket list. All the candies and popcorn are made fresh everyday. You can even see the man John in the back making fresh chocolate and making candy apples. They even have treats for dogs with white chocolate so it is edible for them. TRY THE EGG CREAM!

I remember coming in here as a child, and whenever Im in the neighborhood I stop it. Philips is such a local gem. Chocolate covered EVERYTHING. The owner is older and so so sweet.. Philips never disappoints. One of the few family owned spots that still exist on Staten Island.

I regularly visit this hidden gem for their amazing candy. Never once have I been disappointed. Super old school, super fairly priced, wonderful staff. Their chocolate covered strawberries and pineapples are unbelievable- the freshest, juiciest fruit I have ever tasted. Top quality in every which way. I hope this place stays around for many years to come- there is just something so special about it.

Phillips Candy is simply Fantastic, they are so mega friendly and have a variety of sweets and delights to die for. They are so nice and make you feel right at home, they take good care in packaging everything for you, it is such a wonderful experience.

Wonderful old school candy store. Pleasant clerk great prices and good tasting candy. They have hand written signs on their candy items its really cute and they have a nice selection. It's pretty hidden from view located on barrett avenue off of forest ave and you could easily miss this cute little store. Love their jelly rings.

I was at an event Friday night and the favors were candy apples. I have never tasted horrible candy apples as these. The candy was totally melting down off the apples and they were rotten. Totally disgusted, I'm sorry but I wouldn't buy them again from your store.

Outstanding is as simple as I can say. Old school candy apples where the red crust is almost glass like when you bite into it. Caramel apples to die for. Delicious. Amazing place. Lots of old school treats too.

My boyfriend and I absolutely adore Philips. It's super small and old school, and their candy is awesome. They are always very nice when we stop in. Hope it stays here for a long long time!

Loved this place when it was in Coney Island under the train station. And I couldn't believe my luck when I noticed they moved to Staten Island when we did...so now my kids get to experience an old fashioned candy shop, where so much is made on the premises. Just awesome like right out of the past.

"Philips" come back to Coney.... we miss you, unparalleled summer candy second to none when it left coney island I cried, it was like a friend moving away, I visited but at 15 to take the Verrazano its only when I'm in Staten Island for work, still it is the best many classic candies, all my beach favorites and so much more, whether its chocolate covered cherries, or cashew balls, or fudge that can put you in a diabetic coma its the best, there is nothing that they don't do well, and the prices are incredible. "Phillips" if I say "PPPLLLEEEASSSEEE" won't you come back I miss you The photo's here are of the old location in Coney, the location in staten island is larger and I guess you could move around my wifes wheelchair though i've never tried.

I remember when they were in the subway station in Coney Island. Now I use Phillips candy for all of my party supplies needs- Cotton Candy, Candy Apples, chocolate cover strawberries and grapes... They have the works, with pleasant staff, delicious products, and quick turn around time for bulk orders. Its definitely worth the trip across the bridge for the Brooklyn peeps

This candy store is the absolute best. I have been coming here since I am a little girl. I ordered chocolate covered pretzels, cake pops and chocolate covered Oreos for a surprise party. Everyone was raving how delicious they were. I come here all the time for a chocolate egg cream. The fudge is delicious as well as all of the chocolate. I love when I come here and always see John in the back of the store working on something. It's really inspiring to see a man of his age still have love and passion for what he does. Everyone that works here is very friendly and they are very accommodating when it comes to needing something made. They are extremely affordable. The price and service that you get here is the best place to go on Staten Island. Highly recommend.

This is a LOCAL TREASURE that we must patron and keep alive. Phillips has a good selection of popular homemade candy and chocolate covered fruits at rock bottom prices. They are truly the essence of homemade, so you know it is delicious. Their candy and caramel apples are amazing! Also I love, when they have it, their chocolate covered marzipan. It's some of the best I've ever had and so are the yummy marshmallow pops covered in caramel and coconut. This place is amazing. Seriously.
