They launched their gelato business with this inspiration in their sails. Now fans return for hits like mirror glazed gelato cakes and cups of vegan coffee cardamom oat Milk gelato." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Wonderful gelato! Reminds me of Italy. (Don't believe me? Just check my post history.) That said, we don't glaze and "Italy" is not the goal. This gelato is great in and of itself. Light, but still creamy in texture. Clean flavours, exactly as described by their names. My only disappointment is buying a small and not going for something larger. Do stop by if you have a chance. Really good gelato, especially around SF bay area.

Google
Very tasty gelato. We got a medium with coconut almond chocolate chip and the cinnamon cookie. The coconut was very refreshing and the cookie was like creamy biscoff.

Jaydee Sheppard

Google
House-made delicious ice cream in the heart of San Fransisco. we got the mandarin, the berry, the cherry, and the crème brûlée, and all four were absolutely delicious! Our favorite was a mandarin, each cup comes with a cookie. Other specialty items like ice cream, popsicles, cakes, cream, puffs, and to go pints are available. Parking is limited since it’s in the middle of San Francisco.

Google
They use Sicily Bronte Pistachio DOP to make that flavor. I’ve never seen any gelato like this in Bay area! Perfectly sweet and so flavorful! This becomes My #1 gelato and sorbet in SF bay area!

Mat Lit

Google
Probably the best stratiatella I’ve had outside Europe. Perfectly smooth, creamy and addictive. Passionfruit sorbetto was bracingly sharp in a good way. The gentleman who helped me was really impatient and grumpy. Really hope he has a better day.

Google
I love love love their gelato, one of the best I have ever tried!! The texture is amazing. It is very very delicious. I got the chocolate haze on that and pistachio the small cup two flavors. It was more than enough for me because I was already full. it is not pricey. Customer Service is very good and the atmosphere is comfortable. I highly recommend giving it a shot., very important to me is the place is clean and their bathroom is clean. It is for customers only. I will be coming back and trying other flavors !

Google
2 samples allowed per person. Gelato flavors change every season. Small = 2 flavors, Medium & Large = 3 flavors. Coffee cardamom sounds intriguing -- but this time we tried raspberry lemonade, orange creamsicle, and bananas foster, and each one was delish.

Scott Seymour

Google
Amazing gelato. If in the area and looking for a sweet treat, 100% recommended. So smooth and creamy.

Yelp
For all the gelato lovers, this spot is it! The five stars lies in how well they capture flavors in their gelato while delivering a perfectly smooth and dense consistency. My Go-To Flavors: + Pistachio + Dark Chocolate The hardest thing about places like Philmore Creamery and other top notch establishments is that once you've have really nice quality food, you can't go back to mediocre or artificial stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
Quite possible the best gelato in the city!! The giandua flavor is my favorite and just a great balance of chocolate and hazelnut without being too sweet. Some of their seasonal flavors we got were also good like the apple pie and almond toffee. I'm intrigued by their flight of gelato which is 5 flavors for $17
google avatar

Ju L.

Yelp
One of my friends told me philmore creamery is his favorite places in the city. We went after dinner and each got a small, which gives you the option of up to 2 flavors. I got pistachio and chocolate hazelnut. I thought it was small but it was more than enough after dinner. The lady working there was also super patient and nice when we were having a hard time to pick flavors. It was nice that there was water and seats available inside. We were able to grab a seat and enjoy the gelato!
google avatar

Montse S.

Yelp
Wow this place has beautiful large cakes to take home plus the ice cream is amazing. I had pistachio and hazelnut crunch and wow, creamy rich goodness!
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
Fun rotating flavors, got to try the blackberry matcha which was great. The worker scooping put in the work to blend the blackberry topping into the matcha gelato. The place is small and has a small seating area inside and a table outside. When you order - ASK FOR A WAFER COOKIE! Excited to go back for their other rotating flavors - they list a couple online and I hope they bring back their rose gelato.

Yelp
My friends and I were craving a sweet treat and stumbled across Philmore Creamery's unique, house-made gelato flavors. We shared a flight so that we could try as many flavors as possible. It's honestly a great deal--5 flavors for $17! The PB&J, POG, and frost berry were our top 3. This PB&J is good for people who don't like an overwhelming PB taste. They really perfected the PB ratio. The POG and frost berry had strong fruit flavors, and the texture was very smooth. Get those two flavors if you want something more refreshing. The almond toffee and zucchini bread were fine picks, but it seems like their vanilla base gelatos are heavy on the vanilla and left us wanting more of the mix-ins. Overall, the service was great, and the small storefront is a cozy place to enjoy a scoop or two... maybe five!

Yelp
This spot has been a family tradition, pretty much every time we go near Japan Town. We typically walk or drive here from the mall when we wrap up our day. Always friendly service and amazing gelato and sorbetto. We went yesterday afternoon and had some delicious treats. The staff is always nice and you can get up to 2 samples of their fabulous gelato. It's some of the best in the city, my favorite TBH. They also have items made with oat milk and nut free items as well. Parking can be tricky, like anywhere in the city. We often walk up from the parking garage. Yesterday we circled about 4 times and luckily found a spot right in front. I got the Gianduia Crunch and a Banana caramel swirl flavor. They were so creamy and rich. The flavors are fantastic and the banana was amazing. I've never had a bad experience here. Always quality products with great flavors. Sometimes I'll even get an espresso or affogato to go. They also have milkshakes, pints to go and varieties of different coffee/latte espresso etc. The seasonal flavors are really delicious as well. Highly recommend you give them a shot.

Yelp
Each lick tastes like a piece of heaven! Fresh, seasonal fruits. Vibrant flavors. Double 8 dairy. Creamy gelato. Smooth sorbetto. A must try if you're in Fillmore! It's a cute little spot that'll make your sweet tooth happy. Workers limit each guest to 2 samples. Highly recommend their strawberry, plum or Sicilian pistachio (my faves.)
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Smaller spot, so not much for ambience, but the entire neighborhood IS ambiance. Delicious gelato. Pistachio with chocolate hazelnut. Very yum. Pistachio tasted great -- sometimes pistachio gelato can be meh.

Yelp
We wanted to get some dessert after Hogs and decided to try out Phillmore. I got the pistachio, banana panna cotta and asian pear. The pistachio tasted like peanut butter! It was good, but I would've liked more pistachio. The asian pear was subtle, but props to them on making this flavor. The banana panna cotta was by far the best one because I LOVE banana desserts. It was super banana forward. My friend even said it was the best banana ice cream he's ever had! Will be back just for the banana ice cream.
google avatar

Lynda F.

Yelp
Small creamery and shop with a delicious variety of gelato flavors and freshly made espresso. We stopped for an Affogato. Typically, I would have vanilla gelato with a shot of espresso... But my adventurous sister suggested peanut butter gelato with espresso. It was an interesting flavor combo and fun to try something new. The folks at the establishment were so friendly. Definitely worth a stop and we will go again. Nice atmosphere.

Yelp
We visited this place during the Fillmore Jazz Festival. It seemed like they weren't giving out samples because of the event, which was a bit of a bummer. Having recently returned from a trip to Italy, we were curious to see how the gelato here compared. The inside didn't have seating, though that may have also been due to the event. We got a small cup with hazelnut and tiramisu crunch flavors. The portion size was decent, comparable to what you'd get in Italy, though it was, of course, slightly more expensive. Overall, the gelato was pretty good. The tiramisu flavor leaned more toward espresso and didn't have much crunch, while the hazelnut tasted just as expected. Both flavors were creamy and smooth, and while I'm no expert, I have no complaints, especially after eating a lot of gelato in Italy. I would definitely come here again if I'm in the mood for dessert or craving some gelato.

Yelp
Went here for a lil treat after dinner nearby. It's a cute lil shop with a few flavors and a small seating area which also offered some water. The service was nice and gave us samples, a sign nearby says two per person. Overall I thought the gelato was good and was happy we stumbled on it, wouldn't go out of my way for it tho. I got the chocolate hazelnut and the banana walnut gelato. Chocolate hazelnut - 8 - good, very rich and tastes just ferrero roche Banana walnut crunch - 6 - just had too much banana and not enough of the other flavors
google avatar

Yelp
This is by far my favorite gelato spot in the city! You can't go wrong with any flavor but the pistachio is a classic! If you are indecisive like me, I highly recommend the gelato flight: 5 flavors for $17!! Such a steal and it's the perfect choice for you to share with a loved one and it is more than plenty enough and a great way to get the classic flavors and the seasonal flavors as well! Not only is the gelato and sorbet amazing, the workers and the owner have always been so kind, patient, and given the best recommendations. Almost every time, I leave buying a pint for me and a pint to drop off to my parents and it's always the best treat to have at home. Also bonus: they have records displayed in the interior, lovely choices all around! I highly recommend coming here; I always leave happy

Yelp
If you're a gelato lover, this is a must-visit! Their flavors are rich, creamy, and absolutely irresistible, with both classic favorites and unique seasonal options. The shop has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond for the customers. Every visit feels like a little taste of heaven!
google avatar

Catalina L.

Yelp
Two new seasonal flavors late June 2024 Wow the plum sorbetto blew me away! So fresh and fruit forward. Really great texture and enjoyable would totally recommend this The apricot sorbetto was more light fruit flavor Note it's 2 complimentary sample flavors only
google avatar

Christine V.

Yelp
it's so dangerous to have such a delightful treat in the neighborhood. it's even more dangerous that they make all their creations on-site, and switch out the flavors regularly and so i feel like i just HAVE to come back to try their new flavors before it is gone. my favorites have been the honeycomb, mango, panna cotta variations, strawberry, but they're all bangers.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
I stopped by the Philmore Creamery to try their gelato and I was very impressed! There wasn't a huge variety of flavors to choose from, but I kind of appreciated that because it wasn't too overwhelming. There are also a good amount of dairy free options. I chose the dark chocolate sorbet and the caramel chocolate waffle cone and both were super creamy and rich in flavor! I like that even for a small size, I could get two flavors. I also tried the mango and gianduia which were awesome! This is a great spot to visit if you are walking around Fillmore st on a warm day!
google avatar

Adrian L.

Yelp
We were in the mood for ice cream or gelato after dinner and good old Yelp helped us find Philmore. I enjoyed the tiramisu crunch and my wife had to get the honey lavender (as it's her favorite from other creameries.) They were delicious:) The folks working were friendly. The place is petite with a few chairs for seating. We will definitely be back:)
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Hands down best gelato I've had in the bay! My bf and I went the other day as an afternoon pick-me-up and shared a small banana butterscotch + pistachio split scoop. I also sampled the coffee cardamom which was a vegan flavor but incredibly decadent and creamy! What makes this place stand out to me imo is that the consistency is suuper velvety and the flavors are strong but well balanced and not too sweet. Still dreaming about this place days later -- will have to make a trip back soon!
google avatar

T M.

Yelp
Specializing in small-batch, Italian-style gelato made on site daily using fresh fruit and local dairy from Petaluma Ca. The nut pastes are imported from Italy, such as Bronte Pistachio, hazelnut and walnut. Phil and his son, Jordan, trained in Italy and spent three years developing recipes that they now serve at Philmore Creamery. It was HOT in SF today and I was craving for their gelato's. I walked in to get passion fruit, pomegranate, and lemon Gelato's. It was SO refreshing, tart, and I want to go back already!! Service is great. They are friendly and give you free sample:) Ambiance- Family owned and small space, but there are benches outside.:)
google avatar

Angelina Z.

Yelp
Loved the flavors here! One of the best gelatos I have had in the states. I got a split scoop with pistachio and butterscotch. Simply delicious. The pistachio was nutty and the butterscotch super creamy. Not the biggest fan of the cone as it started to leak quite quickly. Get a cup instead.
google avatar

Gerard Y.

Yelp
I was able to sample 2 flavors before I decided to order. I went with a medium cup size which gives you a choice of up to 3 gelato flavors. I decided to go with strawberry, peanut butter chocolate, and dark chocolate. Dark chocolate had that distinct, not overly sweet, European chocolate taste to it. Peanut butter chocolate pretty much tasted like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup to me. And finally the strawberry had a sweet, strawberry taste to it. Delicious gelato ice cream in the Fillmore area.

Deborah C.

Yelp
I love gelato. I love coffee. Their affogato is the perfect combo of favorite things . Salted caramel is a perfect accompaniment. My husband had a raspberry scoop that was perfectly balanced. We loved that they have a place indoors to perch while you enjoy your treat. We will return.
google avatar

Julianne T.

Yelp
Philmore Creamery is so good! Wandered in after dinner in the area and ordered a split scoop of Strawberry and Gianduia Crunch. The Strawberry tasted like perfectly ripe summer strawberries and the Gianduia was superbly creamy with the perfect crunch. I love that they give you a waffle topping too! It's a pretty small shop, so not too much seating inside. One of the best gelato spots I've been to in the city!
google avatar

Kell S.

Yelp
The gelato here is so good!! Wonderful texture and consistency and great variety of flavors, with a lot of unique ones, and love that they offer several non-dairy options.
google avatar

Paulina F.

Yelp
I bought the plum vanilla on rotation and sampled the standard chocolate vanilla. The texture is very good. Flavor is there. I wish my ice cream had more plum throughout, though. There's a lot of plum on the top layer displayed and not much in the serving.
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
The Pistachio was amazing. I would weigh 300 pounds if Philmore was in Milwaukee. By the way, the woman working behind the counter deserves a raise. It was about 120 degrees inside the creamery.
google avatar

Steph C.

Yelp
OMG. So good!!! I almost don't need to say anything more but this place is a real gem. It's all handmade small batch gelato and sorbet. They apparently change out their flavors daily. There were maybe 12 flavors in the case, two of which were sorbet, and they let you sample two flavors. There are 3 different size cups to choose from, and they even let you get two flavors in the small cup. Servers were super nice and while the shop is on the smaller side, there's still a decent sized family style bar top table to sit at and enjoy your sweet treat. I tried the blood orange sorbetto, crème brûlée, mascarpone cherry gelato, and cookies and cream (my son and I shared our little sample bites). I went with the crème brûlée--creamy smooth gelato with flecks of torched sugar throughout, and the mascarpone cherry swirl--also super creamy smooth with gelato with wonderful ribbons of cherry goodness. I will 100% be back to this place! It may even be better than the gelatos I ate while traveling through Italy!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE place to get dessert in San Francisco! The gelatos and sorbets are consistently high quality, super smooth, and delicious. The sorbets are phenomenal and never too sweet! This place made me fall in love with sorbets again. My favorite is the passion fruit! They usually have 3 different sorbets and 6 different gelatos to choose from. The employees are always friendly and happy to give you a sample. There's limited indoor seating and a large metal table to stand around outside but most people take their cups or cones to go.
google avatar

Christiane F.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday night and it was a little busy but we were able to get seating! The service was great and they allowed us to try many flavors. The chocolate hazelnut and the coconut flavors were amazing!!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
tl;dr Cute hole-in-the-wall spot with spectacular gelato in SF. Food (5/5): I loved my strawberry sorbet and chocolate gelato. So flavorful! Service (5/5): Friendly staff. I believe you can only try 2 flavors, so make it count. Ambiance (3/5): Small, casual spot with a few seats if you'd like to dine there. I enjoyed taking mine to-go. Parking (3/5): The usual in SF. Definitely a spot to stop by if you're walking. Otherwise, there's limited street parking and a couple of the Japantown parking structures nearby.
google avatar

Laasya R.

Yelp
Pistachio was amazing!! Pairs well with chocolate and salted caramel. A must try. Finding parking on a busy day can be challenging.
google avatar

Esther K.

Yelp
Likely one of the best gelato spots in the city and I don't say that lightly. My mom got the dark chocolate sorbetto which is 100% pure chocolate. No milk bs. Super rich and delicious. I had to get the pistachio since this is my go to flavor and my husband got the tiramisu. Every flavor was spectacular and hits on the spot!! Will be bringing some pints home next time...

John C.

Yelp
I found this place because I work nearby. What great luck for me - it is the best Gelato I've found for flavor, consistency and my own favorites (gianduia). They are always quick take care of "my usual" an affogato gianduia or "espresso with gelato"... Heaven! Thank you Philmore for the refreshment as well as the welcoming vibe whenever I'm there.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
This place has REAL ice cream. If you are european come here. Sizes are smaller than most places but enough! Flavors are fantastic. $12 for 2 very small portions but we are full. Thankfully nothing weird like basil/strawberry, mandarin/lime, matcha flavors.. only chocolates, hazelnut, strawberry, passion fruit, pistachio type flavors. Come here or be square.
google avatar

Nikolette S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious ice cream!!! The counter service was great, he was very nice. The space was clean and welcoming. We will definitely be back. The ice cream was the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. Best coconut and strawberry

Joey B.

Yelp
Gelato is amazing here but whatever asshole works here has been a complete dick in every conversation i've had with him, and was even more so when i called to complain about my mush of a tiramisu cake. i picked up my CAKE yesterday, the person behind the counter grabbed it from the FRIDGE, and i went home to put it in the FRIDGE. I just went to retiree it and now have a mess of a blob and was absolutely shocked so called the store. The same jerk answered and proceeded to lecture me on "gelato goes in the freezer" after i let him know there's know indication of gelato in this CAKE. He then asks what I expect from him and I said that i didn't know because i have a $55 mess here. His response is "yeah it's a blob isn't it". Go anywhere but here if this is who works there. This man whoever it is needs to be fired immediately swear to god, because the calls to order and confirm the cake were met my complete annoyance from him, as if he was put out that i was calling and ordering it to begin with.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a really cute gelato shop close to Japantown. Parking didn't seem to hard to find, but you do need to be comfortable parallel parking on a hill. Right now there's a bit of construction going on the street, so just make sure you look at the parking signs on the street to make sure it's okay to park there. Inside the shop, they have a nice selection of gelato flavors and the cashier was very helpful in providing us with tastings. The shop also has a small area for you to sit down and enjoy the ice cream. I love that they included a small cookie with the gelato.
google avatar

Jerry X.

Yelp
One of the best late night gelato options in the area--philmore creamery came highly recommended for not only the tasty gelato but also the awesome vibes of philmore street and let me just say it lived up to the hype! I've now taken multiple SF visitors back to philmore almost exclusively for the Pistachio gelato, which has just the right amount of nuttiness to satisfy that sweet tooth. If you're looking for a late night option and a place to sit down and enjoy the warm SF nights, Philmore Creamery is the place to be!
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Yummy good gelato service was amazing and tasty. Very creamy. Highly recommend. Lots of great flavors

Yelp
My coworker always picks up gelato from here and I'm always happy when he does. I love the Gianduia and the Stracciatella flavors. They are decadent. Philmore Creamery is worth a visit!
google avatar

Krystal W.

Yelp
9/10! Gelato was very smooth and creamy! I enjoyed the option to have two flavors in one scoop. Pistachio and lemon swirl 8/10. Will come back to try different flavors!

Yelp
Ah, Philmore Creamery, a charming oasis of frozen delights in the vibrant city of San Francisco. As I stepped inside this whimsical parlour, I was greeted by an array of tantalizing flavours, each whispering promises of pure indulgence. Let me begin with their pistachio gelato, a creation that transcended mere frozen confections. Its rich, nutty essence enveloped my senses, taking me on a journey to the pistachio groves of Sicily. The velvety texture, combined with the natural sweetness, left an everlasting impression on my palate. And then there was the dark cherry gelato, a symphony of flavors that danced on my tongue. The luscious, ripe cherries burst forth, their natural tartness harmonizing with the creaminess of the gelato. It was a delightful balance, a delicate balance that spoke of the craftsmanship and dedication to quality. A quick scoop and a friendly smile and I had my selections presented in a bowl. Ready for their time in front of the camera before it started to melt. As I savored my gelato, I couldn't help but admire the walls adorned with photographs of local history. These snapshots from bygone eras captured the spirit of San Francisco, offering a glimpse into its rich tapestry of stories. It was a subtle reminder that Philmore Creamery was more than just a purveyor of frozen desserts; it was a custodian of community and heritage. In the heart of San Francisco, Philmore Creamery beckons dessert enthusiasts with its delectable gelato creations. With smiles as sweet as their frozen delights and photographs that weave tales of the city's past, Philmore Creamery invites you to savour not only the flavours but also the essence of San Francisco itself.

Yelp
Still so very good. It's light and creamy. Highly recommend anything on the menu. 2 single scoops in cone ~ $14

Yelp
This place has fantastic gelato!!! They have been around since 2018...and I feel sad that my husband and I didn't know about them sooner, especially since we frequent this neighborhood quite often, with Pizzeria Delfina, and Roam Artisan just in a few blocks' radius. We got the Gianduia (chocolate + hazelnut), which was AMAZING. Brought me back to memories in Piedmont, Italy, when we'd smell the Nutella factory when driving around... We also liked the Stracciatella, which was our second flavor, which had really amazing small pieces of chocolate in it. I really liked how the small pieces of chocolate were thin and delicate, and easy to break apart in your mouth. Quite satisfying!! The other sample I tried was the regular hazelnut, which was also amazing. I also love that with their small scoops, you are allowed to choose up to 2 flavors. It's always a pet peeve of mine for ice cream places to only allow one flavor for small scoop ice creams!! They also had a variety of to-go items, including pints (very tempting), and gelato cake (sounded amazing), which also came by the slice. Next time! Service was great - friendly and fast. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Rebeca M.

Yelp
The best gelato in San Francisco! Plus you can try samples before you decide. Tried a combo of salted caramel and chocolate hazelnut - delicious!! Always happy to support a local business in my town.
google avatar

Joey J.

Yelp
It's Gelato, I wasn't expecting that, I should have done my own research. Hazelnut was my Favorite, it has little chunky bits of nuts. Pistachio was good too, made we want little bits of pistachio too.
google avatar

Carrie T.

Yelp
Not much room to sit down here, but great gelato! I got an affogato with the stracciatella ice cream which is what was recommended but I tasted the matcha and the chocolate hazelnut (2 taste tests per person, so choose wisely!) and dang. That chocolate hazelnut almost got me. It was really great and had little hazelnut pieces. My affogato was excellent as well though!
