Great coffee with various flavours and tasting notes!

$7.48 for a large cup of their rose coffee. It was delicious and I was happy they had Splenda. Their pastries looked delicious. I will have to get it next time. Very clean and friendly staff.

We visited Philz this morning and was greeted with such a warm welcome from Ian. He took good care of us and was so sweet and friendly at the register. I got the iced spiced vanilla coffee and it was delicious. Perfect fall drink!

Philz coffee was a vibe. With everything going on with Starbucks at the moment they definitely offer a pretty good vibe and chill music

The staff need a raise because they are SO kind. I actually don’t know how much they get paid, but they were super duper lovely. Staff members were accommodating, and sweet. Great vibe, and a ton of outlets for students or professionals to get work done. I had one of their winter special drinks, it was delicious

I really don’t enjoy giving a 2-star review because I genuinely like this place, but I’m beginning to encounter the same issues here as I did in Wicker Park. Philz seems to struggle with training their staff consistently on how to make their specialty coffees. Every time I visit, the featured drinks (and I’ve tried them all) vary depending on the barista. It’s a toss-up—sometimes they’re absolutely fantastic, and other times they taste absolutely terrible - overly bitter or watered down. Coffee is an experience for most people; it’s something we enjoy to boost our mood, whether it’s before or after a challenging day or to make a good day even better. It’s incredibly frustrating to want to support a great company like Philz but end up with disappointing coffee half the time. Yes, we’ve asked them to remake our drinks in the moment, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Here’s my feedback for Philz, and this applies to all locations: develop a more effective protocol for training baristas on drink preparation. Most coffee shops in the city—like Starbucks, Dark Matter, and Colectivo—have mastered this. While I understand that drinks might not be identical every time, the consistency should be closer to 90%, not hovering around 50% or less. And if there is a protocol in place, it’s clearly not being followed. This isn’t just my opinion; it’s a common complaint I hear from others who visit Philz. Please, no responses like “We’re sorry for your experience”. Simply focus on training your staff and establishing a clear protocol for drink-making. It’s a straightforward approach that would significantly enhance your reputation. Customers are frustrated with paying for quality from a great company only to experience such inconsistency.

One of the best coffee I've ever had and most friendliest staff and service

Best coffee. You can taste the clarity, love, and care of this company and its employees put into each item they serve. I don't feel bad or like I have to finish it because it genuinely is a great cup of coffee. and the burritos.... man, I had the pork burrito, and it was the burrito of my dreams. Fluffy, cheesy, it's like what you imagine a cartoon burrito tastes like. All of their coffee is amazing, but this trip, I got the gingerbread, and it tastes like fall,Christmas, Yule time, in a cup. I wish they had more locations. I would go here more often.

Randomly stopped in to do some work and a nice chill cafe. I've never been to Philz but always wanted to check it out. Walking in it was super clean and everything was in place. They played the best music so I was totally vibing! Staff were so sweet and pleasant which added to the ambiance of this location. I'm not big on coffee anymore but they had really great selections to choose from. I opted to try the iced mint mojito coffee. Definitely sounds pretty unique and I wanted something refreshing so I decided to give it a try. Well people....i now have a new favorite coffee! It was soooo delicious!! They actually muddle the mint leaves at the bottom of the coffee. How cool is that! I also has a blueberry muffin and it was so fresh and getting it warmed made it taste even better. I will definitely be back

I got the classic black coffee. The waiting line is super long that I waited over 10 mins. On top of that, I waited over 15 mins to get a simple black coffee. I have to ask the staff two times to check my order status. I understand they are busy but why it takes that long for a simple black coffee?? With the time spent on this, I rather go get it from somewhere else.

I was trying to enjoy a cup of coffee, but unfortunately several people were talking very loudly, saying anti-Israel things. This coffee shop obviously supports this, otherwise the talkers would have been asked to shut their mouths up or leave. I took my coffee to go and threw it away. You have a right to support anti-Israel rhetoric, and I hope you will be ostracized by anyone pro-Israel. Will Yelp take my review down? Probably, which will show where they stand when it comes to anti-Israel rhetoric and views.

So happy that Philz Coffee made a move in the Midwest! I've craved the mint mojito iced coffee some the last time I was visiting California. The baristas were very kind and friendly. The cafe itself is located in a very walkable area, with that said there isn't much street parking so we did a quick run in and just put our hazards on in the little cul de sac. The cafe was much larger than I expected and very welcoming and inviting. I'm definitely come back to visit when I'm in the area again.

Highly disgusted. My friend and I decided to try out there coffee for the first Time. To see what was the hype about yesterday morning. I've drunk it. An it was okay But I never thought to check the inside or swerl a spoon around it just to mixed the flavor like I normally would do. I drunk the coffee Half way thru I went to pour out the remaining of the coffee that was left I see this nasty piece of which looks like a sponge I called addressed the problem. And they offered a refund but it's not about that to me. It could have been anything on that sponge This is disgusting and unacceptable it PLEASE CHECK YOUR COFFEE!!!!!

I love this place. The staff is so friendly and the coffee is good. Great place to work remotely but beware it's super cold inside!! I've never tried the food but looks okay!

Ambiance - friendly and roomy. Lots of space to work and wasn't super busy. Service - friendly and the person helped me choose what to get as it was my first time. Drink - was pretty good but kind of expensive. Slightly expected. Would go again but wouldn't be my first choice.

stopped by here to try them out since i heard lots of good things, and they did not disappoint. ill start with service: staff here is super friendly! i wasnt sure what to order as it was my first time and when the lady taking my order heard that, she walked me through and explained all the options and recommended me a drink as well. i got something something oatmilk cookie- i cant quite remember the name but it was their special and was really good. the place has a nice interior and a good vibe going on and there were enough seats even with the amount of people in there. just overall a good place to have a quick zoom meeting, bring your friends to, or even stop by yourself for a quick coffee run.

Very modern coffee shop with a good amount of coffee blend. I just ask for hot coffee because I needed a pick me up in the area. I'm not sure which blend you get for just asking for coffee. But it was rich and balance considering I ask for cream and sugar. It was better than what you expect from a dunking donuts or starbucks.

I go to coffee shops to study and typically like a warm atmosphere and this was pretty opposite of that. Besides that, it had fast wifi and wasn't too difficult to find a table when I went on a Sunday around noon. It's a good place for experienced coffee consumers but if you're just starting to acquire the taste, it might not be the best place for you.

If you love coffee, definitely check out Philz. As others have mentioned, they do have a more limited menu. However, quality definitely beats quantity. I tried the Tesoro, which is a medium blend with a nice caramel undertone. My friends ordered the iced Rosé coffee, and it sounds (and looks!) good. There is also a limited food menu, but the breakfast burritos are yummy and filling! I definitely can't wait to go back and try other blends. In addition to great coffee, Philz is doing their part to help the environment by using compostable lids and paper cups. Get your coffee fix and feel good about doing your part as well!

You literally can NEVER go wrong with going to Philz. The service is pretty much always friendly, and the drink options they have are pretty unique and inclusive of most taste buds. If you knew the real story behind Philz and how they came to be, you'd be really appreciative of them expanding to Chicago recently. I'm from California so I've been used to Philz for quite a while now, but having Philz out here makes me happy. I recently ordered their Iced Mint Mojito and was very impressed with the taste. I'd 100% order this again. I know I'm asking for too much, but I would LOVE if y'all opened a Philz Coffee in the Lakeview/Wrigleyville area. I think it would do very well, and I'd be a frequent customer... just sayin'!

If you're looking for a delicious cold brew, Philz is the way to go. I wake up every morning craving a Philtered Soul Cold Brew with Creamy Almond Milk and Sweet Sugar. More often than not, it's how I start my day. I love Philz and definitely recommend trying it. TIP: if you're ordering between 8-9:30am, order ahead on the app! It's extremely user friendly and always very timely.

The BEST Philz Coffee I had so far! I am from NYC so I am going to miss coming here. The interior design is so pretty. There is a wall mural near the back that is so beautiful. It can get really crowded during the day so it is a bit hard to find seats. I ordered the Iced Coffee Rosé and Chocolate Croissant and it was soooo delicious. We actually got the same items at another Philz Coffee location and it wasn't as good as this one! I definitely recommend making a stop here for breakfast if you are in the area. Nice neighborhood too. Lots of colleges nearby.

Always a good experience at this location. I sometimes order in the app when I'm in a time crunch and need to grab and go; and I sometimes do work here when in between things. They have taken COVID precautions seriously, as well, which I appreciate. Dancing waters is my favorite coffee - hot or iced. They have great coffee in general, though. The breakfast items are also tasty. Customer service always friendly here. They do make each coffee to order, so if you're in a rush, I would order through the app. Otherwise, be sure to build in a few minutes to your wait time, as it can get busy at peak times and it's not just filling up a cup like most places.

Mocca - terrible. It didn't taste like a Mocca. Cocoa - terrible. But at least it had a taste of cocoa. They even don't have sugar on the table that you can use. You have to tell them to do it for you if you need more sweet coffee

**This review is for the Thursday soft opening** I work in the area and decided to stop by to check out Philz for the soft opening. A roommate of mine gifted me some beans from Philz last year and I loved them but until today I had never been inside one of their locations. I didn't know what to expect but I was thoroughly impressed. Philz is a different kind of coffee shop experience. It's a coffee-forward, barista-forward place. Rather than serving espresso drinks, Philz has a variety of different coffee blends with recommended ways to drink (medium cream, add honey, etc.). You walk up to the barista counter to place your order instead of at the cash register. I have to say that I loved this aspect! The baristas here are incredibly warm and inviting. They are happy to discuss your tastes and preferences, giving recommendations for blends and styles. Not only is this super helpful but it encouraged warm interaction. I felt welcomed rather than like a coffee-illiterate nuisance (which other coffee shops have made me feel like!). After you speak with a barista to place your order, head over to the register to pay. It was packed, which is to be expected for a soft opening. The surprise, however, was how quick and friendly the service was before they're even open. I was expecting a long wait but I was up to the barista counter very quickly. I'm so thrilled this Philz is in the neighborhood and I'm excited to stop by again.

I won't repeat whatever I wrote in my (also 5 star) review at the Wicker Park location. Just want to say: Their new drink iced coffee Rose was delicious and I love how they don't skimp you on liquid. They really fill it to the top and like an idiot, even though I was warned, spilled a little as I slid it over to myself. The staff member was incredibly nice about it and just fun to talk to!

Philz is always a yes. Esp when it's as cute as this new location!! Very bright & airy inside with cute colorful wall art and decor. Great place to study, catch up on work, or meet up with friends. My go-tos are the Mint Mojito or Rose Latte. If you're feeling something subtly floral to spice up your regular coffee routine, try the Rose. For something creamy & refreshing, try Mint Mojito. Be aware - their coffee IS strong! I'm always energized for the rest of day.

Literally my favorite coffee shop now. Not only is their space super nice with plenty of seating for doing work, but the coffee is absolutely delicious. I've gotten the mojito and rosé and both are so good. My favorite is the rosé so far. Definitely get both the house way- sweet and creamy is the way to go. I've also tried the Philz bagel which was pretty good. Cream cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes- a very filling breakfast. It comes on an everything bagel but you can substitute with another bagel type if you wish. They were also giving out samples of their avocado toast which has slices of hard boiled egg on it- also delicious. Ordering is a bit different- you order at the counter first where the baristas will make your drink. Then you go to the register to pay. Ive been here 2 times already and staff is always super friendly even at 7am on a Saturday. It definitely gets super crowded and loud during peak hours which just speaks to how popular this place is. Be prepared to wait in a long line if you come during the rush!

I love how smooth the coffee is :) the iced mint mojito coffee was great! I got it less sweet but honestly I think it wouldn't be overly sweet without any adjustments. The wifi is good so you can definitely get work done, and there are a lot of seats. At the time I was there, it was a bit too cold (it's also hot outside so makes sense) but definitely a great place to get work done :) there is actually quite a bit of free 2-hour parking in the area too. Highly recommended!

Be warned, no lattes! Although no lattes, the staff was very helpful in finding me a drink I would enjoy similar to a latte. A friend and I popped into Philz after a long day of walking hoping for a caramel latte, we were pretty disappointed to find out Philz does not have lattes. The coffee itself tasted just okay nothing special.

about the third time i' ve come here where their register system doesn't work, so... uh, basically can't order anything. no signs up on the door, no one immediately saying the register is down until you actually go to buy something. maybe fix consistent critical issue? ‍ the chocolate chip cookie is good though.

Due to COVID, you currently can't dine in. I usually place my order through the app 5-10 minutes before heading over. If we're driving, we'll pull into the little driveway next door and do a quick pick up. Once I arrive the drink is usually ready on time sitting on the table. You simply walk in and grab the one with your name. I love Philz! I'm not a big black coffee drinker, so my go to items are the Mocha (hot or iced) and the Mint Mojito (iced). Their drinks are always consistent and delicious. The experience and taste is high quality in my opinion. If I went more frequently I'd probably stick with a simple Tesora, but since I go about once a month or less I like to treat myself and get the speciality drinks -- creamy cream and medium sweet! To save money, if my husband and I are in a similar mood, we'll pick a drink we both like and share a large instead of getting 1 small & 1 medium; that makes it about half the cost!

Hot as F&$k. Yelp says you're open and your not....ugh... Was so excited to get an Iced coffee and after what felt like a walk in the Sahara desert you're closed. Killing me...

As a vegan, I wish I could leave a five-star review for their plant-powered breakfast sandwich. Unfortunately, the sandwiches are way over-cooked to the point that biting into the crust is like biting into a brick. Other than the bread, it tastes fantastic, and I would recommend it if they made this small change.

Excellent made to order coffee! I consider it a treat to come here as the pricing reflects the hand craft nature of the brews. This place has a nice vibe and a good venue to meet up and hang with friends

Came to Chicago with my friends from high school and one of them highly recommended the mint mojito coffee. Coffee definitely did not disappoint, and would highly recommend visiting the coffee store chain wherever it is available! Refreshing and chilled is the best way to get the mojito

Taking my first sip of Philz has made it such that every time I brew my early morning weekday coffee, a part of me feels sad inside that I'm not actually in the comfort of Philz sippin' on a delicate Iced Coffee Rosé. I TOTALLY get what the rave is all about, and you will too!!! Philz is a family-run business that prides itself in offering smooth, complex blends of coffee (in fact, I brought home a bag of Tesora beans) and artfully crafted coffee drinks. I noticed that each of the drinks made at the coffee bar were made with individual pour overs. You know that everything you drink here is not only delicious, in the most simplest way of thinking about it, but also certifiably fresh and carefully prepared!

Tried this cafe in San Fran long ago, and here as well at their soft opening. I wasn't impressed then, and still am not now. The space and ambiance of the cafe is perfect: spacious, bright, clean. The layout and design of the space is the best offering at Philz. The coffee menu, however, is limited. They do not offer the traditional lattes or Cappuccinos, which I infinitely prefer over drip/pour over coffee. The mocha is worth passing up, as it doesn't taste anything like a true mocha. Sadly, the few drinks they offer I did not enjoy. Would only recommend if you enjoy drip or pour over coffee and appreciate a good cafe setting.

During the pandemic, our coffee runs have gotten fewer and have become more special. We recently got some coffee to-go from Philz and (no surprise) had a great experience! My husband ordered online on the app, 10 minutes later he picked up the coffee. He waited outside on the sidewalk until they called his name and then he grabbed it from the door. It was delicious, thankful for Philz staff for making a delicious coffee even through adversity!

Yahoo! Another Philz location in Chicago! I'm so happy Philz has been brought in my home town city of Chicago. I wanted to go check this location out because it's right by school. The cafe itself is sooo calming (blue walls) and very clean. The staff is super friendly and cool. I enjoy having to walk up to the counter and ordering the coffee first. The baristas are very helpful and knowledgeable with Philz' coffee. If you have any questions or recs they got you covered. The coffee I tried today was the Gingersnap and it tasted exactly like gingersnap! My favorite is still the mint mojito coffee though. As for the food, I ordered the Philz Bagel and it was delicious! It was an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagel also had tomatoes and cucumbers which was pleasantly refreshing. I'd definitely come back and order it again!

My heart! I was so overjoyed to learn that a Philz coffee had opened in chicago (Wicker park). Imagine my enthusiasm to know that there was a Philz in my neighborhood!! Mint mojito house style 100% every time. Order on mobile in advance. Prices are high but worth it for a treat. I just tried my fiancé's gingersnap last time and it was not bad too.

Open, bright and airy coffee shop. Each coffee drink made customized as you get to choose your bean. They do mobile orders as well. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! Each drink made with TLC and quickly. I had the mint mojito and it was lovely!

This location is awesome. I came in to order and Ava (I believe) gave me a helpful rundown of the menu and great drink recommendation. I ordered a sandwich and drink. Somehow walked out without grabbing my sandwich so I called the store a couple hours later and Ava picked up. Said she'd make me a new one without a problem. I came back in and she had it waiting for me! A little goes a long way and I really appreciated that gesture!! Thanks Ava!!

First time going to Philz in Chicago in Lincoln Park! Great atmosphere for work with many stations to have a laptop or hang with friends. HUGE menu of drinks. I would recommend downloading the app before. The line did move fast thought. WiFi was fine for work even with my VPN. I will do work in the future there.

I liked design of the place, but was a bit confused with the flow of operations. You stand in line to order with barista (which is awesome and eliminates errors) then go and pay for your drink, but then you come back to the same area where you paid or ordered from creating more of a mess while waiting for a drink than a flow? Price is also astronomical for a cup of coffee.. not sure about this place.. BUT! I did like team pictures in frames. Makes it feel like you are visiting someone's home

This is my first visit to a Chicago Philz and I'm happy to say the quality is the same as in SF. I tried the iced coffee rosé without any modifications. It was delicious, creamy, just sweet enough, with a subtle rose flavor. The place was super busy around noon on a Saturday with lots of students (DePaul gets a 10% discount in fact). The line was long but moved decently quickly. Next time I would try their mobile ordering.

I'm giving this an average review for its potential but I really didn't love the coffee I got. I want to love Philz because I know people love it & the menu makes me see that there's a lot of thought put into the quality of coffee & fun bevs but I've been twice now and haven't been wowed by my order. I've tried an iced almond milk latte from a location in sf & tried a dirty chai latte from this one & had a sip of an iced drink my friend got. The dirty chai latte tasted like just watered down chai & they asked me if I wanted any milk when I ordered but isn't that what latte means?? I couldn't taste the espresso at all & I maybe drank like 1/6 of it. The environment is cute & it's be a great work spot so I think I'll give it one more shot before determining a final rating.

I've heard of Philz Coffee because I have friends that live in San Francisco and they're all bragging about how good this place is. I finally checked it out and I must say it's delicious! I love coffee and I must say that Philz Coffee did not disappoint I mean from the name itself I already love it duh :-) I ordered the Philtered Soul which is a hazelnut flavored drink with chocolate and it was delicious and some chocolate croissant to add with it. The barista was nice enough to add a little bit more sweetness to it which was nice. The ambiance and the atmosphere of the place is really nice. Sometimes I like to sit at coffee shops to get some work done, I wanted to go to a different coffee shop that's not your big name coffee shops like "Starbucks" so that's one of the reasons why I have to check this place out. I already felt a nice calm feeling just by coming it has that "neighborhood" vibe. Comfortable seats and fast wifi as well. There's a ton of coffee shops in the city that I usually get my coffee runs and I must say that this is added on my favorite coffee spots in the city. Welcome to Chicago Philz Coffee! Now i can finally tell my friends in SF that they have a good recommendation!

I've always been a Philz fan, and words can't describe how happy I was to see this location open. I got a chance to check it out on a Monday afternoon. I got a Mint Mojito and stuck around for a couple of hours to work. The Mint Mojito was as great as I remembered it. It is just velvety smooth, seamlessly blending a bold coffee with crisp and refreshing fresh mint leaves. The coffee also packs a punch, giving me a nice caffeine buzz to power through some work. I want to branch out and try the rest of their menu, but keep finding myself going back to this drink. Highly recommend. With the new opening, and probably because of its proximity to the DePaul campus, it was even busier and more noisy than I had anticipated. It comes with the territory being so popular, but be aware that it may take some luck to find an open seat -- nearly every space was taken by chatty students while I was there. This makes it feel bustling and vibrant, but also made it tough to concentrate at times. I will certainly be back here, but maybe with friends rather than a laptop attempting to work.

Philz Mint Mojito Iced Coffee is a unique and delicious way to get a coffee hit, but a 22 min wait from placing my order to receiving my coffee is a LONG time. I get that you're busy because you do great coffee, but please staff your bar appropriately during peak hours to make sure wait times are not excessive.

The girl that took my order was passively rude and got my burrito order completely wrong I ordered a sausage burrito and instead I ended up with a mound of cheese wrapped in a tortilla. The baristas were also incredibly slow for just a coffee. I waited longer for my coffee than the burrito that was wrong. The staff needs to be retain in more areas than just taking order.

Delicious and unique coffees. There's almost always a line so expect a wait. I love the Philtered Soul (or is it unphiltered?) and mint mojito!
