Pho Rainbow 3

Pho Rainbow has a small and quiet seating area that creates a cozy environment. I went with two friends and had no trouble acquiring a table. The menu was detailed and helped avoid any confusion. Instead of water they start you off with a teapot, which was highly enjoyable. I got a vegetable sandwich and the shrimp fried rice. I found it to be delicious. Unfortunately, the service was lacking even when we were the only people in the restaurant. Our server hardly checked in on us after we ordered and they even forgot my friend’s main dish. Also, we had to wait forever to get our bill. I would go back, but I hope the servers would be more attentive.

Ate here for dinner the other day and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Summer Roll and the Shrimp Pho along with a Mango Bubble Tea. My Mom ordered a pork chop vermicelli bowl and a strawberry boba tea. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was a little slow but the staff were extremely friendly. Would definitely return again.

One of my favorite vietnamese restaurant here. If you’re looking for good traditional pho broth this is the place for you. Also my second all time order here is Beef Banh Mi ,it is amazing if you never tried it from here you should definitely give it a try!

Went last minute with my boyfriend after another Pho spot ended up being closed and I’m so glad we went :) The mango bubble tea was so amazing and the food did not disappoint! So glad we came to this place and we will be definitely coming back!

Casual but friendly service, pan fried noodles not on the menu but everything was very very good, grilled pork chop and grilled chicken is a must, more tender than the other places including those on the lower East side of Manhattan.

The place will not jump out at you when you drive by, but it does have its own charm. Street meter parking available. 1. Good selection of Pho style food. 2. Very yummy. 3. Have noodles and rice dishes for kid taste. 4.very cozy atmosphere. 5. Highchair available for families with small children. 6. Price is very reasonable. 7. One more thing. Bridge your appetite since the portion size is generous for the very reasonable $.

The soup base for the pho was rather bland. The pork chop that came with the pho was rather oily and fat. The summer roll sauce was chunky. The spring rolls had a strong flavor of peanut.

Where shall I start? If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food, this ain't it! I googled Vietnamese food near me and this was off the bearen path so I wanted to try it. The first thing I saw was staff making spring rolls without gloves. Right then and there was the time to leave but I was hungry and decided to stay. Second thing was the CHINESE decour and characters lightbulb over my head goes on still didn't leave. I wanted spicey curry sauce and some crushed peanuts on the side. The waitress said no no no (Amy Whinehouse voice). Waitress said pork chop juicy. I ordered the chop over rice and some fried spring rolls. Looking back on the reviews of this place they're all favorable, saying "Best Vietnamese" on the Island or "best I ever had". Clearly, these people haven't left Staten Island. It was not a good experience for me and I have had excellent Vietnamese on the Island and 90% of their customers are Asian. I had to doctor up my leftovers to finish my meal. If you see CHINESE decour and characters, it's not Vietnamese. Learn the difference.

Was craving some warm broth for a cold rainy day. I was the 2nd customer at a table as I walked in. I ordered pretty quickly but I waited for my food for a long time. I don't know if they just had an influx or Togo orders but everything was very slow. I had to go up to them to get my check. I got my vietnamese coffee quick but it wasn't even hot. It was warm. The spring rolls came out a little before the pho. They were alright. The skin was a bit chewy. The pho came in a pretty big bowl with a decent amount of meats. I got the special with meatballs. For a Chinese owned pho place, the broth was pretty spot on. I ate all the meats but the noodles. There was a lot.

Good service, good food, great location. Plenty of seating for small and bigger crowds. Right off New Dorp Lane in Staten Island. Great for if you're in the neighborhood shopping around or running errands. I recommended their pork chop Vietnamese sandwich. They use the same grilled pork chops as they would that accompany their noodles and rice. I have never had grilled pork chop in my Vietnamese sandwiches before but once I tried it here, to be very honest, I always order it to share. The pho is on point, this is a legit viet establishment. The soup is very comforting and I am 100% drinking that huge bowl of soup. It does not leave you thirsty for water as it is not as salty as some of these other restaurants I've tried around town. Prices are very reasonable. And if you like Vietnamese sandwiches please do yourself a favor and try their grilled pork chop sandwich.

An awesome, cozy restaurant serving great Vietnamese food on New Dorp Lane! I have been here several times throughout the years and I love eating their roasted pork banh mi. I have also had their fried spring rolls (Cha Gio) which were also delicious and crispy. The Cha Gio tastes fantastic when complemented with the lettuce wraps they serve on the side. I also enjoy pairing up some of the roasted pork slices from my banh mi sandwich with the lettuce wraps, another classic delicious combo. I have dined in and also did pick-up at this restaurant, they do not take very long to serve (about ~15 minutes each time I have went). As others have mentioned, the parking around this area isn't great but this is on New Dorp Lane - a busy street on the East Shore with lots of great places to eat including this one. It would be best to park on a side street nearby the block if you want to come dine here! Will be coming back - I hope to try some of their soups next time!

This place honestly has the best pho on the island. They don't overcook the noodles, the broth is flavorful, and it comes with plenty of meat. I order delivery from here a couple times a month and it never fails to disappoint. I always get the Special Bowl, and the Grilled Pork Pho

Worst Vietnamese ever... the roll falls apart and they use different noodle than other restaurants... very strange taste. Non of the stuff I ordered was good. I don't know how they got the 4 star reviews.

This place is delicious. Authentic Vietnamese in SI. I've been there before covid and been ordering take out while wishing that I can dine in soon. Pho needs to be eaten fresh and in the restaurant to really immerse yourself in the flavors. So when they finally had indoor dining, I was so excited and made a trip from Brooklyn to try. They follow pandemic guidelines with spacing the customers out and the place is very clean with a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. I highly recommend for you to try. My favorite is the grilled pork chop beef noodle soup. The portion is huge and so worth it. They actually gave me two slices of pork chop. The spring rolls were funky because of the fish sauce but I love it. If you're a beef lover, go for the traditional pho with raw spices of beef, omosa, tendon, tripe, etc. so you can get the real deal.

I've been here twice and both times I ordered soemthing different that was not really authentic to me. The beef broth for the pho was not as flavorful as other places I have been to. The bahn mi was surprisingly delicious and perfectly toasted. The beef cube fried rice was not really your typical beef cubes. I don't know what it was but it was just not the same as how other places usually make it. It does get super busy during weekdays at night time so try to come early. From what I see, there's only one waitress and things can get quite slow inside.

I have been coming here for a few years & this place is a staple for me. The owner Jessica knows me and my order the second I walk in. Talk about personal. I've tried several dishes but my favorite is the dumpling with beef broth soup. Everything here has flavor, character, and authenticity. This is a traditional Vietnamese restaurant with a family like ambience.

Kind of hard to find parking in this area. I ordered ahead and picked up my order. The vermicelli they use is more like a smooth texture and bigger in size more like rice noodles but I still liked it. The sauce could be a little more stronger. The shrimp was spicy which I wasn't expecting because I've had this dish before in other Vietnamese places and they were not spicy, since I'm a person that can not eat spicy they should list that on their menu. The sandwich was good and they gave a good amount of filling. Prices are decent. The pho was ok. I wish they would deliver but they don't and you would have to use grub hub.

My first try at Vietnamese food, and it was amazing! I had the beef Pho which consisted of a delicious broth, brisket, omosa, tendon and raw eye of round and beef ball and my dining partner has an amazing Banh Mi. Customer service was awesome and everyone was great. I highly recommend!

Yo this place is so fucking good. I went with my girlfriend who was about to dump me and she thought twice after I took her here. I felt like top G Andrew tate sitting at that table eating like a king. I'm actually mad at how good that food was I'm debating finding the nearest degenerate and rocking them out of pure happiness. My second time coming to this place! The first was actually maybe a year ago. I decided to come back because I was craving pho and this place is still very good. Both experiences were great! Very nice service with good quality food. They have to have the best crab Rangoon! Very crunchy on the outside and perfectly filled inside with sweet dipping sauce. Their pork chops are also very flavorful and juicy. My boyfriend got the beef cube fried rice and loved the rice. Nice portion, again with very juicy beef cubes! Probably one of the best fried rices I have ever had. I got the pho noodles which is always my go to order in any pho restaurant! Their prices are great, quality of food is even better and their service is wonderful. 10/10 would recommend.

I believe ever since change of ownership, the food quality has suffered greatly. When it first opened it was authenic vietnamese, now im not even sure. Better off going to Pho Mac.

ong the pho got me constipated and it didn't have no flavor whatsoever. service was nice, she gave me extra time when i didn't know what to get. overall clean atmosphere. will not be going back again though.

Yummy simple Vietnamese. I came here on a chilly winter night with my boyfriend and we had fresh brewed tea within a minute of sitting down. So good and much needed in this weather! We ordered tofu summer rolls and butterfly shrimp spring rolls. The summer rolls were standard and decent. The shrimp rolls were ridiculously spicy!! Super spicy and flavorful jalapeños are wrapped up with the shrimp. For our entree we ordered the vegetable pho and the shrimp beef broth pho. My boyfriend loved his and it was super flavorful. However, I've had better vegetable pho elsewhere. The veggies were basic and I would have loved some tofu. However, it was a solid bowl of pho! I prefer the pho I am used to in Orlando, but for Staten Island this is probably one of the only Vietnamese places on the island.

They offer takeout (call directly and you won't have to pay any fees and the restaurant gets more money too). Also on seamless if you need delivery. This is the best Vietnamese food you can find on Staten Island! My favorite thing ever on the menu is their crispy squid/fried calamari. It's perfectly seasoned with white pepper and salt and it's so crispy. I think I also tasted some Chinese 5 spice powder. The squid is not chewy but soft and it just makes for a great combination. They also sauté it with onions and the onions soak up all the seasonings and it goes so well with the squid. HIGHLY recommend this dish. The spring rolls are super crispy (they use the correct rice paper which a lot of Vietnamese places don't) and it results in a crunchy/slight chewy texture that perfectly complements the meat inside! The pho broth is pretty decent but I feel like it's lacking a little depth. You can taste the spices such as the star anise but I feel like it's missing that salty, fatty flavor that makes pho so comforting. Overall it isn't bad and it's my favorite pho compared to others on Staten Island.

This restaurant is offering takeout and delivery ! Absolutely the best Vietnamese food in Staten Island. I have a severe peanut allergy and never worry about eating here as long as I tell them to leave the peanuts out. This has never been an issue. The spring rolls are definitely the highlight, the wrapper is the perfect texture - chewy and crispy. Very happy that they provide the lettuce to wrap the spring rolls too. Don't hesitate to order from them!

Ok......but compared to Pho Mac on Richmond Avenue definitely plays second fiddle. Problem is Pho Mac is still doing taking out- the food just isn't as fresh and good when delivered or taken out. May come back here......or may not. Either way not a great loss.......

Not authentic Vietnamese. Quality of chicken is compromised. Improper. Lucky for them that there aren't that many choices on the island. Pay the toll and venture into Ave. U in Brooklyn.

I love their Pho soup. I've been to so many places , from Staten Island.. to Brooklyn and some in city, and yet this place never disappoints! Their portion sizes are good and price is reasonable. I love how fast their service is too.

I haven't had good Pho since pre-pandemic days. So I decided to try this place on a whim, and am I glad I did!! We got spring rolls (delish), dumplings, pho (both beef and veggie) and some grilled chicken. It was all delicious! I love that there were options for veggie, chicken or beef broth for the veggie pho! And the broth!! AMAZING! My husband got the Thai iced tea which was scrumptious. I got the salty lemon soda (not my fav but I tried something new!) Worth all the fees for delivery. Thank you for a yummy dinner!

Heard about this place so decided to try it out. Once you walk in they will ask for vaccine card. The place is small. The service is pretty good. There are two people working. One inside the kitchen and one outside. The pho soup is very tasty. The other one was ok. Will probably come back here again

The food here is so FRESH. Best Vietnamese food I've had in NYC. Keep in mind, I've eaten Vietnamese all over.... Manhattan Chinatown, Brooklyn Chinatown, Flushing. Summer rolls: firm and fresh! Pork Chop dinner; plentiful and tasty! These are my SI friends go to spot. If I lived in SI I would go here all the time. I can't wait to try the Pho next time. No thrills but that's fine as long as the food is good.

Viet food is decent here. Spring rolls and grilled pork bahn mi are awesome. Pho tasted ok. Beef cube rice was somewhat disappointing. Vietnamese spring rolls are fried nice and crispy.They give u alot of lettuce and mint leaves which make the rolls taste even better. Grilled pork bahn mi: sooo delicious. The bread was toasted so well. U can hear it crackle and crunch everytime u bite into it. The grilled pork chop had good flavors as well. We ordered a second one cuz it was so good. Pho dac biet: the broth tasted decent. Flavor was not as strong or oily as another viet place I frequent, but still decent. Huge bowl. Beef cube white rice: the beef cubes were disappointing. I would not recommend ordering it from here. The flavor was not as strong as other places. It tasted more like chinese food. I normally love beef cube rice but this dish did not satisfy. Condensed milk hot coffee. They serve it with a metal coffee drip thingy on top of a white teacup. When they serve it to you, you have to wait a couple minutes before you can drink it, cuz u gotta wait for the drip. Interesting. But my coffee got cold by the time I was able to drink it. I did not really enjoy my lukewarm coffee. If I was around the area, I would come back for the viet spring rolls and bahnmi.

I've been to Pho Rainbow a few times now with family, and can definitely see our visit rate going up now that the weather is getting cooler again. Not the best pho or Vietnamese food in the city, but pretty solid and the Vietnamese place we like most on Staten Island. There is a lot of the menu that we haven't tried, as we always seem to gravitate towards the appetizers and soups on our visits. The goi cuon (summer rolls) and cha gio (spring rolls) are both good options. The appetizers we seem to order most lately are the fried calamari, which comes with grilled onions and a really zesty seasoning, and the banh cuon, steamed rice rolls that are light and fresh with lots of flavor. The soup I like best is the pho ca vien, rice noodle beef soup with fish ball. The beef broth is good, although not as rich as some others you'll find in the city. It comes with a good number of halved fish balls, plenty of noodles, scallions, onions, and fried garlic, along with the usual basil and bean sprouts on the side. It's a very satisfying soup for only $6.75. (The soup prices top out at $8.50 anyway, so very affordable.) Looking forward to getting more of that when the weather goes really cold!

Eh, it was OK. I'm glad they're open at 11am, and my delivery arrived on time at 1145am today (I ordered yesterday through yelp.com). They included one pair of chopsticks with a bunch of forks and knives... kind of funny. The Vietnamese spring rolls were crunchy and tasty. The Shrimp Summer Roll was not that tasty, and while they did include an extra peanut sauce (for free), it was very, very thick, almost like a mud pie or mustard. I think I might be spoiled for Vietnamese food, as I hail from Queens.

I truly will not recommend this place. The spring roll was not crispy, lack of flavor, and the fish sauce was tasteless, like it was mixed with water. The special pho soup base was ok but lack of meat. I don't think I got everything that was described on the menu. The portion of the Grilled pork chop, Chinese sausage with rice was small. The grilled pork chop was tough. The presentation of the dish was nice but it was a coverup of the rice. The portion of rice was the same size as the egg. I think my three year old nephew eat more rice than they have given. Throughout my meal, nobody came to refill water or check in on us.

I don't know why everyone has a hard on for Pho Rainbow. I guess they've never had good Viet food before - but guys this isn't it. I recently (Jan 2020) had the pleasure of visiting Vietnam. The one dish that blew me away in Ha Noi was Bun Cha (thought to have originated there... it's the rice vermicelli with pork meatball). This protein not being an option at all, I ordered #47. Which.. #47 was supposed to be spring rolls & beef over rice vermicelli.. but as I opened my take out container, it was just a sea of white and brown.. they forgot the spring roll. Fish sauce is so pungent.. I'm aware they make it into a vinaigrette of sorts for this. But when I added it to the vermicelli & mixed it up, I feel like it got watered down from whatever moisture accumulated in the container (or maybe they didn't drain the vermicelli well) and it had absolutely zero taste. The beef had a good flavor, but was overcooked and chewy. Really was missing those spring rolls. I will not be returning here again. And, my search continues for the flavors of that beautiful country here on the east coast. :( If someone has recommendations reach out please & thank you!

The previous ratings certainly fooled me ! My first time ordering from here was very disappointing. I have eaten dishes from Pho in Brooklyn & I was hoping I would have the same experience. However, this wasn't the case . 1) We ordered beef cubes with fried rice . The beef cubes are so tiny ! The size of the beef cubes was if I was feeding my pets . The size of my pinky finger nails. Astounded by it ! 2) I also ordered vermicelli with pork chops... & I got big , fat noodles. Vermicelli is supposed to be tiny noodles .. also, it has peanuts on them! But on the menu, it doesn't say they put peanuts on the vermicelli. 3) I also ordered Vietnamese spring rolls & I got normal spring rolls from a Chinese restaurant. The spring rolls did not come with lettuce. Like what ? The dishes were just a disaster! Never again. Stay away from here !

Ordered pick-up and everything was delicious. Pick-up was ready in ~20 minutes. The grilled slice pork banh mi was so good. The bread was toasted and crispy, the pork was meaty and juicy, and everything about the sandwich was delicious. The beef cubes over rice were tasty and had a hint of spice or curry which made it even better. The Vietnamese spring rolls were piping hot and crispy. Overall, I would definitely come back here again as it's one of the few good Vietnamese places on Staten Island IMO. The pick-up experience was good; they have a pick-up counter and they give your order through the window to minimize physical contact. Would totally recommend for anyone that's looking for somewhere to satisfy their Vietnamese food cravings.

Decided to take the scenic route back to Bucks from JFK and explore Staten Island. I really enjoyed the drive and realized that SI is much bigger than I imagined with urban, suburban, and historic locales. When my hunger alarm went off I found myself in the vicinity of Pho Rainbow, and followed the Yelp directions to New Dorp. Found a place to park across the street along the railroad tracks, and went in. The shop has about ten tables and was clean and bright. The service was provided by two friendly women who appeared to be Chinese. They promptly brought over a pot of tea and a menu. A wide screen HDTV provided the rest of the entertainment. Perhaps, I should have gone with the Pho given the colorful name of the house, but I was feeling more adventurous in keeping with my exploration of the Island, so ordered the Com Thit Nurong Lap Xurong Apla (White Rice under Grilled Sliced Pork, Chinese Sausage, and Fried Egg). It arrived after a few minutes and looked good on an overflowing plate. There was plenty of BBQ styled pork that had a very good flavor. The Chinese Sausage was segmented and grilled, sharing some of the smoky taste of the pork. The Fried Egg was cooked too long and was thus a distinct piece of the combination as opposed to melding with everything else with oozing egg yolk. There was more Broken Rice than I could consume. While I was satisfied when I walked back to my car, my impression was that I had probably missed the star of the show here (pho), and had settled on something fairly mundane. It was okay, but did not instill a desire to return to try more dishes. If I found myself in this neck of the woods again, I would not avoid Pho Rainbow, but neither would I rush back for more.

I visited for the first time yesterday. I've been to Pho Mac on Richmond Ave numerous times and I needed to compare. Price: Pho Rainbow is definitely affordable , I would say prices are low. Most entrees are between 8-11 dollars. But unlike Pho Mac, entrees do not come with lettuce, cilantro, and pickled vegetables. But my friend and I were shocked at how low the bill was so that's always nice. The beef sate sandwich, I'm not sure how to spell ban mi was incredible. I'd return for that sandwich for sure! The shrimp summer rolls were good. My entree was pork chops with Vietnamese sausage and a fried egg over rice. The pork was seasoned and cooked well but I thought the pork chop was a bit fatty. My friend ordered Pho and she enjoyed it but she too said the pork served with the Pho was fatty. Fatty pork is my one complaint. Service was prompt but not friendly. No one was checking in on us or asking if we wanted anything more. The decor is minimal but low prices reflect this. This place would be great for lunch or take out. I would go again for sure.

I've been at and ordering take out from Pho Rainbow ever since they first opened on Staten Island. I no longer had to go out to Brooklyn or Manhattan for good quality Pho and other Vietnamese dishes. They are amazingly consistent and delicious. I'm glad they stayed open during the pandemic as they totally hit the spot when I and my mother were tired of cooking for the family and needed a change of pace and flavor. They are very friendly and very accommodating to requests. While many other restaurants have drastically increased their prices over the duration of the pandemic, Pho Rainbow continues to remain very reasonably priced and affordable.

My usual spot when I need a pho fix. I fell in love with this place when it first opened and was so excited that SI had a amazing Vietnamese place!! Unfortunately, it's not the same anymore. Food is still delicious and fresh but service stinks. It seems like there's been a change of ownership and a lot leaves to be desired when you dine in. Last time I asked for jalapeño peppers, I got a dirty look. (hey, at least I got the peppers) Tonight, we ordered summer rolls, Vietnamese spring rolls, pork chop rice dish, and #1 and #3 I asked for more bean sprouts and I got REJECTED!

This is the absolute best place to eat phô. The owner is extremely nice and thoughtful. She always takes great care of me and my children. The food is always on point and delicious. I love this place.

Cold night craves for curry dishes. Walked in with 2 other tonight to give this a try. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and OH MY LORD was it so darn tasty, gooey, and a pinch of spiceyness to the lips. I have to say best dish by far on Staten island for chickens. Then my husband ordered the chicken viet sandwich and he loved it. It was completely filled with meat as compared to other viet sandwiches out there. Overall very satsified. Interested in trying their other dishes !! Price- the sandwich was $5.50 and the curry chicken was $7.25. You can't beat that price for the food.

A-ok/ 3 Stars describes this place fully. Location is just off the beaten path by New Dorp Mall area and simply gets the job done. Came on a saturday night, tables seemed abundant and service was adequate. We ordered spring rolls to start followed with mains of Pho, Grilled Chicken over Rice and Grilled Porkchop over rice, all vietnamese cuisine staples. Spring rolls were done well, crispy exterior without grease dripping, meaning that they weren't left in a deep fryer basket all day and re-fried. Lettuce provided was fresh. The Pho was amazingly mediocre, good enough to get the job done but just not quite savory/tasteful enough to really leave you wanting more. Soup broth is not quite deep enough and doesn't embody that heavy beef taste that we've all come to know and love in traditional Pho. There is however, an ample helping of noodles and beef slices/offal provided so one might be able to overlook taste for value (maybe). Grilled Chicken was the opposite, well flavored with great "grill taste" but overcooked. Tenderness was simply not there. Porkchop is definitely the highlight to go to as it had both the juiciness and the flavor impact that you would expect. Verdict: Come here if the restaurant you really wanted to go nearby has too long of a wait and you're starving. Important to note that this Pho place is Chinese-run and that might deter some of you more discerning Yelpers.

This is my favorite place. The grilled pork chop over white rice is life-changing and I have gotten it so many times without ever getting tired of it. Good prices for good quality food. Fast and nice service. LOVE it.

The sandwiches aren't $5.50 anymore. It's $7.25-7.50. I drove 20 minutes for take out order because last year when I tried the sandwich it was $5.50. Now I know lol I think the only place to find it for that price now is New Jersey or Manhattan. The roll they use here is way smaller than other places. I love pickled carrots but on the inside the pickled carrots made the sandwich mushy which I've never experienced from any Vietnamese sandwich I've have ever had.

My first time here. I ordered the Pho #2 Special Bowl, and It was delicious. Tender beef. I think the portion is pretty big, and it was inexpensive, and I usually can't finish one regular meal on my own. And I got the Calamari here. Let me tell you. I love the Calamari and sauce sm. It's a good amount and a great plate to share ( I think it was around $14). The service was outstanding. Business seems to be good as well. i recommend you to come here because the employees are very friendly and the price is very reasonable and more important the food is fantastic.

Dear new owner of Pho Rainbow, The hot sauce suppose to be spicy, not watery! Same goes for the hoisin sauce! Stop adding water to it, you are going to loose regulars. I ve been going to this place for a few years now, and while it wasn't the best , it was pretty good Vietnamese place on the island, with the descent food and flavors. However, it seems to be worse now. Milk tea, I ordered, had too much condensed milk in it and was way too sweet, the brought of my soup didn't have much flavor , and the worst thing -watered down sauces. Ugh. I ll think twice before I would eat there again :( too sad

My new favorite Vietnamese spot! I come here probably once a week for their spring rolls and a great dish they serve. We've tried their dumplings, pho, chicken wings, spring rolls, everything is always crispy and hot so it's served fresh. I love the food here
