Phoxotic - Review - Bloomingdale - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Phoxotic started as a dinner party pop-up before finding a permanent home in Bloomingdale serving oxtail pho, bone marrow, and brisket. The chef is a former butcher who uses locally sourced beef, and the 24-hour bone broth is halal-friendly, with unlimited refills—the only bottomless menu item that really matters. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Omnia Saed

Hands down, this is the best pho we’ve had in DC! You’ve got to check this place out and explore everything on the menu. We knew we were in for something special the moment we tasted the broth—no extra sauces or spices needed, it’s that rich and flavorful on its own. The meats are exceptional: tender, top-quality, and packed with taste. And don’t skip the spring rolls—they’re bursting with flavor and freshness! This place has limited seating but we will be ordering from them as this is our new Pho spot in DC!

Rich, naturally sweet, and slow-simmered to perfection, the broth at PhoXotic is a revelation. Paired with high-quality halal meat that’s tender and expertly cooked, and complemented by fresh, preservative-free ingredients, every bowl is a testament to care and craft. The service is just as impressive - warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The pho here is, without question, the best I’ve ever had and as a New Yorker, that’s not a claim I make lightly. Each bite delivers a harmonious explosion of contrasting flavors that dance on the palate. I found myself audibly delighted after nearly every spoonful. This isn’t just a comforting meal; it’s restorative. The broth feels like it could cure any cold, leaving you feeling nourished and satisfied without any heaviness. I attribute this to the freshness and purity of the ingredients used. If you’re in the area, run, don’t walk to PhoXotic. I’ll be back every time I’m in DC.

Yet another gem of Bloomingdale. PhoXotic provides exceptional Pho with high quality ingredients. My favorite meat option is the Bone-In Rib, which is a succulent full rib that almost falls off the bone, which can be found in the Butcher’s Choice. The bone marrow, found in The Works (dine-in only), is seared to perfection. To top it off, both the customer service and Vietnamese iced coffee are amazing. If you are a Pho fan, this is a must visit!!!!

Google
Great place for pho! Employees were very kind and attentive. Broth was delicious! I will say that the noodles aren’t the traditional thing noodles. They were a bit chewier and flat… I wasn’t a fan but what the noodles lacked the meat and broth made up for! Very pricey but very quick and convenient!!!

The pho here is amazing! I did the Butcher’s Choice ( $26 ) and the shrimp spring rolls and they were both incredible. The pho was so large I ate it across two servings. The salted lime soda ( $5 ) was delicious. Limited seating so if you’re hoping to dine in I’d make a reservation.

I agree that this has become the best pho in the DMV. Drove in from the suburbs into DC for this pho. The pho was cut thicker like they do in Vietnam. The meats and how they were cooked were tender and flavorful. The broth was clear and with a lot of depth. Hai and his mother (who was helping) were very fun to talk to. Hai was a butcher, so he was quite knowledgeable about different cuts and usage. We had the ultimate bowl with the bone marrow and it did not disappoint. We will be back for more.

Google
Honestly one of the best bowls of pho I’ve had in a long time. The noodles were hand-cut and you could taste the difference—super fresh with just the right chew. The broth came out piping hot, super flavorful, and somehow still light. No MSG, which I really appreciated. They give you seven different cuts of beef, including this insane flame-torched bone marrow that just melted right into the soup. It added so much richness without being too heavy. I couldn’t even finish it—and I was lowkey upset. Not because I didn’t like it… but because it was so good and I wanted to keep eating. Definitely coming back for round two.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST pho I've ever had--no contest. The broth is incredibly clean, rich, and layered with flavor in a way that sets it far above anything I've tasted before. I ordered the Butcher's Choice with brisket, bone-in rib, and beef shank, and every cut of meat was perfectly tender, flavorful, and literally falling off the bone. People always hype up pho spots in California, but I'm convinced none of them can touch this one. I've been meaning to write this review since the early days when Hai was doing home deliveries, and honestly, I should've done it sooner. The quality of his ingredients is unmatched--pure, fresh, and thoughtfully selected. Hai is a true pho master. His knowledge and dedication to the craft are evident in every bowl. He's been perfecting this for years, and it shows. Let's just go ahead and crown him: Hai, the King of Pho.

Yelp
This is easily the best Pho I've had in the DC area! Between the personal touch from the owner, who is there making the Pho every day, to the quality of the broth and homemade wide noodles (particularly unique), this is definitely a place to check out if you want a unique experience.

Yelp
Love this place! The restaurant is set up like a noodle bar and you can look right into the kitchen. They serve the noodles right at the bar. I think the broth is super tasty and beefy. It's not too salty or bland. I don't find the broth to be oily or heavy either. It's just right. While I think Pho 75 is the OG pho place in the DMV, I feel like the pho here is a level up. (I never thought Pho 75 was that good, but when you're Asian in DC, you settle.) Phoxotic has more flavor, I think it's a more legitimately run business, and phoxotic very transparent about their ingredients and processes. I also think the people talking about not liking the tallow or finding the broth to be oily are wrong. We had some left overs and saved the soup for the next day in the refrigerator. If there was a lot of oil in the broth, it would have solidified. There was no solid oil the next day. It was, however, very gelatinous, which is what collagen is like. So if you want some good skin, come here for their broth. I could see how a beefy taste might be a departure from the watered down stuff that the DMV is used to, but I actually quite like it. When we were there, there were other folks that had driven in from Virginia just for this pho. You know they liked it bc they got more to take out too. I think it says a lot when you have Asians commuting into the city for ASIAN food! So glad to have this place in the neighborhood.

Yelp
solid pho by dc standards. clean broth. higher end components (wide noodles, beef). takeout is packaged very well, there is a counter with maybe 10 seats inside and they had a wait when i visited overall a tasty bowl, i preferred the bun bo hue though, and the bowls are pricey - $26 for the one with a rib (that didn't have all that much meat). the crispy rolls are small and $8, the garden rolls are a better value. will return it's a convenient option

Yelp
Saw a video from big schlim and came here. Too much tallow. It's overpowering. I get that they want to be different and exotic, but sometimes a classic approach would be better. It seems the Chef has the skill that's for sure so I was expecting to be Wowed immediately. This just my opinion and everyone's experience is different. I for one, prefer a lighter approach and then add condiments to my liking. Find me across the bridge at Pho 75.

Yelp
Like night and day. We went back and owners explained what happened and apologized. My first experience was definitely a one off. The second time, this is pho. Exactly how pho should be. Service was impeccable, the pho broth was simply amazing and their story is even better. Family owned and operated and this place takes pho seriously. Everything is authentic from the beef to the in house made noodles. Pho has all halal beef and they give you plenty. Simply amazing place and staff you're gonna love it. This place is small but runs like a well oiled machine when they get slammed (and they usually are). I encourage you to make a reservation so you can dine in house. It's a taste and experience you can only get here.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this spot. The owner is a really nice guy with a passion for food. He's a former butcher so you know the meat quality is superb. This is going to become my go to spot in the fall and winter. Seating is limited so if you can make a reservation you should but worst case there's also take out.

Yelp
The soft opening of their new Bloomingdale, DC location. The new location has only been open for a few days. The place was packed. The pho is delicious. The employees are delightful. The takeout packaging is interesting. All of the components are in a nice box. The broth is separate from the noodles. All the regular toppings come with, although their was hardly any Thai basil. They seem to still be working on the interior. I think for now you can only order in store, not online. Their hours and days are limited I will be going back for more to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
We just ate at the new home of Phoxotic in the Burlington at the corner of First and Rhode Island Ave. Wow. From the food to the service, it's all outstanding. You essentially have a chefs table from every seat where the chef/owner, Hai takes personal care of everyone as if they are family. For anyone that's been before, that means that he will remember you, might even remember your order and make sure that everything is exactly as you need it to be. As someone with food allergies, this is particularly helpful and important for me. I had a custom vegan bowl and from the broth to the wide rice noodles and fresh king oyster mushrooms, everything was perfect. I absolutely could have polished the bowl off, but brought it home so I could have it (tomorrow?, honestly later today is the most likely.). Hubby had the Butcher's Choice with a marrow bone (see video) and loved it. It's bar seating for everyone, when you walk in you order on screen and pay immediately. Seating is completely comfortable and has a back. As a very nice plus, the bathroom is spotless and huge. Get on over for in person dining or takeout. I'm definitely going to be a regular.

Yelp
I'm from Orange County, CA. We have the best pho in the country. I never would have thought there is pho better than my area in DC. Phoxotic proved me wrong.

Yelp
Best PHO in the area, the broth was amazing and the owner was very friendly, passionate about what he does. Will be coming back soon

Yelp
Phoxotic has returned!! Honestly probably the most consistently good pho in the DMV. I started ordering from them when they were just a delivery business and I'm so happy they expanded. The restaurant is set up like a Japanese ramen shop. A noodle bar where there is minimal time between when the food is cooked to when it arrives in front of you! The noodles are made in house and the owner is a butcher so you know you're getting good quality food. I got the special bowl and it comes with an insane amount of meat and as much broth as you want. There were 2 ribs, an oxtail, some brisket, and torched bone marrow. It was pricey but with the amount of protein you get I would get it again. It's a small family owned business that cares about the quality of the food they put out and the customer experience. I highly recommend trying them out and supporting them! I only wish they were closer.

Yelp
It's very quaint for a pho kitchen restaurant and fantastic exotic pho! I love it here!

Joseph T.

Yelp
Really good pho, and great service! I had high expectations going in based on all the reviews I've read, and this place definitely met them
google avatar

Emilia M.

Yelp
This pho made me feel ill. The owner/chef here raves about being a butcher and extracts his own marrow. The amount of tallow he uses in his broth is too oily and thick. There's one thing to add flavor then theres another thing to over-do it. The broth is so oily that it makes you feel sick if you eat it all... even my lips were oily. Sometimes classic and traditional Pho beats a Pho bowl raging in extra potent bone juice. It's called Phoxotic for a reason because it's extremely exotic. Just be prepared to clog your organs!

John D.

Yelp
I ordered a veggie pho and it tasted like beef the broth was not hot the vegetables taste like they had been sitting for a while they were sour and soggy

Emmy T.

Yelp
The owner and his girlfriend are so friendly. We have Pho, it's delicious and the place is clean.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Just went for the first time and was really disappointed that I wasted $28 on a bowl of pho. Definitely gentrified pho. I came Sunday 7/13/25 and happened to be there at the same time as a well known content creator was also ordering. I ordered the butcher Pho- The meat tasted bland, my rib barely had any meat on the bone. The portion size was small, the noodles were not what I'm accustomed to (maybe store bought?) and I've had better service and pho at a hole in the wall location. Customer service seemed to be better for the white couples as they were spoken to by staff. I had to order from a kiosk and wait for someone to help me because one guy was busy thanking the white patrons for supporting the business. Pay attention to the lower star reviews, no replies from biz unless it's a positive review.

sachiko g.

Yelp
Best pho I have ever had. Full broth flavor, generous portions of thick and tender meat, wonderful, homemade noodle texture. The owner and staff were welcoming and attentive. The only improvement we could recommend is that they expand the number of seats for service.

Yelp
One of the best Phos in the DMV. They deliver too and I was very surprised at the flavor profile in the Pho Si Lato and the OG Bun. Both soups are tasty and flavorful without being too salty. Not only that but they also don't skimp out on the meat! We really loved this business and will definitely place orders with them again. Basically you will assemble your own bowl when it's delivered but everything it cooked already. Ooo through their website for the different options on how you want it delivered). If you want the soup to be hotter then I would recommend heating it in a pot on the stove and adding the noodles before transferring to a bowl. Then you add all the stuff they have included to your own liking! I easily recommend them to anyone who wants delicious pho noodle soups!
google avatar

Judy P.

Yelp
Possibly the best pho in the dmv in my opinion! They currently are a delivery service and also appear at events in the dmv area. The broths I tried were all SO good and flavorful that I saved the broth after the noodles ran out I REALLY enjoyed ALL the bowls I got to try (beef, chicken, and even a vegan one!) They also have a halal chicken option! I love how they're known for using no MSG and everything is super high quality My Instagram posts :) https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn4YBJxjKoW/ https://www.instagram.com/reel/CkqZTRyDzRb/

Jaxson W.

Yelp
The best Pho hands down! The meat selection and its quality is unbeatable. Stop wasting your money ordering Pho from your local pho spot and paying outrageous delivery fees. This is real beef broth people! Not that powder stuff most restaurants use! When you try it you will understand what i mean! If you follow their Instagram you will see some of their beef bone extraction process. You can see the owner takes his craft very serious and backs it up with some knowledge and educates you on the science of beef bone extraction to get that delicious broth! He used to be a butcher so he hand selects the beef cuts you get with your pho. Each cut is Tender and juicy!

Yelp
This pho is so good. I really like it. You havnt had pho until you tried this pho. The soup and meat will have you feeling real good and happy you bought it.

Yelp
Best pho in the area! Bone in rib and the ox tail was tender and everything came fresh. Will definitely order again.

Yelp
I tried the Pho-Si-Lato OG Bowl!!! The Pho was so Banging!!! If you want to spoil your self. Get you some of this Phoxotic. It hit my taste buds from every single angle. I Love me some Pho and I just couldn't believe that a bowl of pho could do me like that. It was like staring at a bowl of heaven. Each bite of the meats made me melt. The slurp of noodle, and the soup was ambrosia. That was Gourmet top notch Pho right there. It was so AMAZING, My stomach is begging for some more right now.

Ren A.

Yelp
Best Pho in the DMV!!! The broth is savory , the beef is tender and comes right off the bone. The oxtail is FIRE. This that Za Pho there's nothing I've tried like it.

Chi C.

Yelp
Kept seeing them on my Instagram feed so decided to place an order online for next day for pick up. The ordering process was fast and simple, you can choose to pick up or have It delivered. The Pho was super authentic with a clean broth and plenty of meat and herbs, the broth was so good that hoisin sauce wasn't even needed. We'll be sure to order from here again!

Angela D.

Yelp
Definitely the Best Pho in the DMV hands down. We got everything delivered and I must say it was better than going to the restaurant! And that broth was on point! U don't even need any condiments. I can't wait to order again and try everything on the menu!
