Loftlike Greek bakery/cafe offering housemade pastries, savory pies & salads, plus yogurt & more.
"This branch of the mighty Artopolis, one of Astoria’s best Greek bakeries before it closed, persists in a sunny Broome Street location with tables in front that are a great place to grab an espresso and a hand pie like spanakopita or galaktoboureko. Step inside the antique-filled interior and inspect the collection of cookies, pastries, casseroles, and salads, then assemble a choice selection for one of Soho’s most pleasing and relaxed lunches." - Robert Sietsema, Melissa McCart
"The people who used to run Artopolis (now closed) in Astoria operate this highly-useful Greek spot. (There’s another location in FiDi.) Order some spanakopita and grape leaves, or get the moussaka lunch special that comes with a side salad. If you want to eat in, there are a few copper-top tables and mismatched chairs next to floor-to-ceiling windows facing Broome Street. You can usually get in and out of here very quickly—unlike the situation at Dominique Ansel nearby, which always draws long lines of tourists." - Kenny Yang, Bryan Kim, Carina Finn Koeppicus, Willa Moore, Sonal Shah

"It’s a goal of ours to plan a running route that spirals exactly like Pi Bakerie’s spiral-shaped spanakopita pastries. Sure, this might be difficult when you consider New York City’s grid system, but it’s nice to dream about while we run. Pi Bakerie is a Greek counter-service spot from the same owners of another Greek bakery in Astoria we really like (Artopolis Bakery). You could have a sit-down meal here during the day, or just stop by and get a pastry. Try the spanakopita, some grape leaves, and a great, massive square of meaty moussaka." - hannah albertine
"Artopolis is one of our favorite Greek bakeries in the city, but if you don’t live in Astoria and want to eat flaky pastries filled with spinach and ground beef, they have another place in Soho. It’s called Pi Bakerie, and it’s a great spot for a snack or a quick lunch. There are a few tables inside where you can sit and eat some moussaka, spanakopita, or a sandwich on Greek bread, and you won’t have to stand in a long line like the tourists down the street at Dominique Ansel Bakery." - hannah albertine, bryan kim
