"If you enjoy dishes that come in small portions enabling you to try lots of different options, make a beeline for Picarón, in the Chacarita district, a restaurant with a sign depicting a large bear riding a velocipede, behind which you’ll find a culinary world that is both playful and fun. The colourful façade, complemented by a pavement terrace, leads to a simple bistro-style dining room with an open kitchen behind the bar counter and a glass-fronted wine cellar to one side. The à carte showcased by Maximiliano Rossi, enhanced by an affordable set menu at lunchtime (no bookings so first-come, first served), is centred around contemporary and Argentinian-based small plates which are transformed with touches of fusion, predominantly using recipes from Latin America but also more exotic dishes from Asia. We definitely recommend the popular “picarones” (sweet potato fritters with spiced Mascabo honey), the tatemado avocado, the surprising “tonnato maiale”, and the exquisite smoked prawns – all prepared with the best-possible ingredients." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Buenos Aires, Argentina | Eater

"Located a few blocks from the Chacarita Cemetery and Los Andes Park, Picaron is the perfect example of what an Argentine bistro looks like in 2024. There are excellent options for all sorts of diners — meat dishes, as well as a range of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options — making it ideal for a table of mixed dietary restrictions. Highlights include maiale tonnato (a spin on a local Christmas classic, vitel toné, here featuring smoked pork), roasted sweet potatoes with oyster mushroom ceviche and ají amarillo cream, and corn ribs with llanero cheese, salsa macha, and lime." - Allie Lazar

Interesting ingredient combination to make the dishes. It's tasty. It's a tapas portion. I think 3 dishes per person is better than 2 as suggested. We had Quill which served like Peking duck. The zucchini with anchovies, Olivier and cheese is a very innovative dish. I like the pineapples desert which is fresh.

Great offers at Picaron for lunch, we really liked all the dishes: catch of the day, corn slices, scallops, and Calamar. The savor of the dishes was outstanding. No reservations are required for lunchtime, contrary to nighttime. Definitely, we will return to taste more dishes.

Such a gem. We went for lunch and had two entrees (charred asparagus on a creamy miso and sunflower sauce, top notch Aubergine beautifully cooked with some crazy crumbles and the catch of the day - done to perfection on a bag a cauda sauce with edamames. If we would have had more time I would come back to try all the rest.

What a fantastic restaurant. The menu is super simple, with only handful of total items on it. But quality over quantity is definitely how they are here. I shared a bunch of dishes family-style with a group, so I got to try many of them. I'm just going to list them with a quick note for what I thought: Burned Eggplant - best eggplant dish I've ever had. The cream was insanely good especially Sourdough Bread - really good bread, some butter or something along side would've been nice Roasted Sweet Potatoes - literally one of the first times I've liked something made from sweet potatoes. Just amazing Tonnato Maiale - pretty good, but nothing special Cauliflower - I'm not a huge fan of cauliflower personally but it was alright Smores - my personal favorite of everything I tried tonight. A must have if you're getting dessert here, it was just perfect! White Wine Pear - pretty good Saffron Ice Cream - personally my least favorite dessert dish they had, but decent nonetheless Kumquats Sorbet - pretty solid (no photo) Lemonade - why not mention it, right? It was also pretty good but nothing special necessarily

Very good place with creative dishes. Some of them amazing, some a bit less yet very interesting. The best was by far the smoked fish with radish. Sweet potato with Girgola ceviche was super interesting. And the meet was super tasty, although the salad above it does not add much.

Wonderful experience. Am always a fan of small serving and Picaron was one of my favourite. The food was so tasty that in one bite we were able to taste a lot of different flavours. They don’t take reservations so in case you want to visit then try to be early if not it’s a small place so it may become difficult to get a table.
