Ate at this Italian restaurant while on a business trip and it did not disappoint. We did not have reservations but the restaurant still managed to get us seated. They have a nice selection of items on the menu but they also have off-menu items that they offered. The offer bread and a soup or salad before the meal and I chose the soup which was a lentil, pasta soup that was good. I ordered the escargot for an appetizer and it was superb, the sauce was flavorful and aromatic and the taste was even better. For my main entree, I ordered chicken marsala which was off the menu. It was great, just like the appetizer and they give you a healthy portion. They have a nice wine selection, the house cab was good to me. The service was excellent start to finish and the setting was great, they even have a place for live music but they were not playing during my visit Great restaurant and I would definitely eat here again.

Google
Food was delicious. I had the special baked penne alla vodka and my sister had the classic Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Prices were kinda high. My sister did say the her dish needed more seasoning (salt). The atmosphere is old and could really use a modern touch up.

Google
My boyfriend had taken me here for a date night and I fell in love with this restaurant. The atmosphere is so beautiful with a soft wonderful sounds of the piano and saxophone playing in the background. It was such a romantic experience. The service was beyond amazing and the food was incredibly delicious. Words can't describe more of how incredible this experience was ❤️❤️ 10/10 would recommend to family and friends looking for a lovely spot.

Google
We stopped in prior to a concert at the cowboys stadium - based on our love for Italian food. This is not a new or flashy restaurant, but, we were not looking for that - you can tell it is a well loved and standing restaurant. The snails were very good, and it was nice to have them in a different sauce compared to the typical butter sauce. My husband was not a fan of his meal, but we never figure out whether it was he didn't read the menu correctly, or it was not described the best. My lasagna was very tasty - and I took it home to enjoy later. We did not get dessert due to timing, but I'm not sure we would have gotten it based on the pricing either. Between the two of us, my husband would not return, but I would not mind coming back again. Sorry - this review may not help - but wanted to give the detail.

Google
New restaurant try in restaurant week. The appetizer part especially the raw beef dish was delicious. The snails, mushrooms and shrimps are also great! The portion of the beef for the main meal was super juicy and soft. The angel hair dish was delicious, but tasted very similar to the appetizer. The salmon sauce is great!

Google
Found by way of Google search. So glad I tried them. The hostess was friendly. Fernando our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The stuffed mushrooms were yummy. My friend had the salmon, spinach and potatoes in a lemon butter sauce. I had spinach ravioli marinara. I tried both dishes and they were delicious. The salmon was succulent and the potatoes and sauce were amazing. I enjoyed the ravioli and the fresh Parmesan cheese was a nice addition. The fresh bread yummy and the minestrone soup was hearty. The dessert was amazing. Great ambiance and the service was amazing. I'll definitely visit again.

Yelp
Chicago/NYC old school Italian restaurant. Classic Italian menu, for the over 50 crowd that have memories of the classic Italian menus! Staff is attentive and knowledgeable, some nights there's a piano player.

Yelp
Piccolo Mondo was my family's go-to for Italian fine dining during my 33 years in Arlington--and it still delivers! I recently took a client for lunch, and both the food and service were just as exquisite as I remembered. My Veal Scaloppine al Limone was fabulous, and my guest called the Lasagna alla Bolognese one of the best he's ever had. With a relaxed lunch vibe, great staff, and white tablecloth charm, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Nice little romantic place with great food and very attentive waitstaff. The bread and butter is amazing.

Yelp
Some of the best pasta we have ever had. Everything is homemade. Service is impeccable. Live music and excellent ambiance.

Yelp
We visited two years ago and we went back last night. Jose was our server and he was amazing making sure we had everything we needed. We were so happy to see the restaurant has flourished and people are visiting. I had Veal Limone and it was amazing with great flavor and really tender. My husband had the special which was ravioli stuffed with cheese and spinach served in a red sauce. He ordered a meatball on the side and boy was it tasty. If you're in town do yourself a huge favor and stop in for dinner.

Yelp
It's a nice Arlington spot. Not in my top 10 for the Dallas area, but in Arlington it's a good go-to place for dinner. Good food, kind of darker and cozy ambiance, and quick service. It almost felt a bit abrupt at times in terms of service, and the bread somehow seemed like an afterthought, but the major elements were good.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience we had at Picolo Mondo. It's been around for decades and has never ceased to please us each time we visit. The problem is we forget about it since we're not in this part of Arlington very often. We were running an errand in the area, looked over at Piccolo and it fit the bill for our dinner destination for the evening. My wife and I were tired and wanted to experience a nice relaxing meal. We were greeted warmly and in a very professional manner, nothing less expected at Piccolo Mondo based on pasted visits to the restaurant. After ordering our drinks and looking over the menu, we placed our entree orders. My wife ordered the Orecchiette alla Arrabiata, she likes things nice and spicy. I opted for the Baked Manicotti. A breadbasket of warm bread was bought out along with our cold crisp salads. The wait time before our entrees were presented to us was perfect for us to be able to relax, enjoy our salads and have a nice conservation. The piano music in the background was so soothing, it set the mood for our visit. Both of our entrees were delicious, prepared perfectly and served piping hot from the kitchen. Throughout our visit, service was excellent without out anyone of the staff hovering. We both promised each other that we wouldn't wait so long until our next visit. Thank you, Piccolo Mondo, for a wonderful visit.

Yelp
In the middle of a winter storm in Arlington,TX a great find brought warmth. Ambiance, service and quality of food. 10 out of 10 for each of them. The bread was fluffy inside with crispy outside. The swordfish with rosemary lemon sauce was delicious. Veal Scaloppine Marsala was plate licking (bread) terrific. If in town do not miss eating here.

Yelp
I'm glad I tried this restaurant! It's a great place to stop by for lunch during work hours and I saw a lot of people had also done the same when I visited. My brother-in-law said the atmosphere was off and they had a stuffy vibe when he visited but I respectfully disagree! It's a nice restaurant. I saw them removing the linens from each table after guests had finished their meal and I was feeling sorry for the wait staff. That is a lot of undressing and dressing of tables! The food was great! I appreciated their complimentary crusty bread (as opposed to bread being too doughy) and the pasta I had with my mussels had a delightful seafood essence I enjoyed. The Broiled Chicken and Sauteed Mushrooms were very simple but the mushrooms had great flavor! I'll definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Pleasant environment and perfect for special occasions of all kinds.

Yelp
Wonderful table service though not all waiters serve the appetizer. Our favorite is the peppercorn steak, delicious. Lovely interior with piano music majestic fir at great atmosphere.
google avatar

Donny S.

Yelp
This place is hands down one of the best places I've been to in Arlington. The environment is very old school Italian restaurants with live piano playerthat starts at 7. Beautiful place for a date night. I sat at the bar top this evening of which the bartender was amazing to recommend the Rolatine di pollo paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon. Truly a beautiful dinner. I asked the bartender what he would have for dessert and it was a amaretto Kahlúa milkshake. Couldn't have asked for a better meal.

Yelp
Went here to meet some friends. It's a very dim, formal, but inviting atmosphere with live music from musicians that I heard have been playing there for a very long time. I ordered the baked manicotti, which was yummy, but had way too much cheese. Wish it had more meat, however, it was good.

Joe J.

Yelp
We celebrated TWO birthdays recently and told them at the time of the reservation we were celebrating TWO birthdays and when we arrived the host literally had on jeans and white sneakers! After we had dinner and spent over $250 no slice of cake came for the birthday folks no candle no nothing. The waitress told them happy birthday when we arrived and that was it! EXTREMELY disappointed that nothing was done and the casualness of the host. Just not really what we were used to at Piccolo Mondo in the past. We won't be back, especially on a birthday

James W.

Yelp
Excellent food. Chicken parm the best I have ever had. Spaghetti vey good too. Service was a little slow. Bread for table very slow to be given out. The food is so good that the shortcomings are very easy to forget.

Tony C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. The Osso Bucco is to die for, and the pasta dishes are generous and well up to Italian standardsThe service is excellent you would not expect to find a restaurant this good in a shopping center like this
google avatar

Stan P.

Yelp
This place totally works. Delicious authentic Italian food. Great service. Warm, hospitable ambiance. I look forward to future visits!

Jay B.

Yelp
White table clothes, excellent service, and amazing food! This is how dining out should be.

Yelp
I'm a returning customer to Piccolo Mondo. The service is always good, the food is authentic and I love their old world charm.

Yelp
A great time dining here with our friends in Interlochen. First time at this family restaurant, recommended by our neighbors; we enjoyed meeting Antonio and his staff. We like supporting local businesses. Good service and I enjoyed my shrimp scampi dinner! When in Rome, eat what the Romans eat.. Stick with the most popular Italian dishes here and you won't go wrong. Molte piace. Grazieh Mille! Will definitely come back here again.
google avatar

Yelp
I visited with my sorority alumnae group for dinner and was expecting really great food based on what others said. I was disappointed that it seemed to be overpriced and not as satisfying as I wanted. Maybe it was an off night, we got there close to opening on a Saturday so it wasnt overly busy until we left. The service was good and we were able to make a reservation for our group of about 8 ahead of time which was nice. But my food was kind of lackluster- i got the lasagna with a salad. I cannot say i will be rushing back.

Robyn R.

Yelp
Food was very good, great service and the live music was a nice touch. My only advice would be to skip deserts - very overpriced for what you get. $11.95 for a slice of cake a little bigger than a lime. ‍

Chris D.

Yelp
My fiancée and I go here every so often for delicious and comforting Italian eats. I personally love their bolognese. We are always sat promptly and treated well by the wait staff. Highly recommend for a date night.

Yelp
Best Italian restaurant in the area. Started with lentil soup then had chicken marsala with mushrooms. Excellent food, waiter was friendly and answered all our questions. Food is always fresh and delicious. Great quiet ambiance.
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
This is a very nice restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. Definitely a place that I will come back to.

Heather J.

Yelp
The ambiance is what makes it a nice place. The food is good. The prices are average for fine dining. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the level of detail that the servers take to make your experience nice
google avatar

Eliza R.

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here whenever we visit family in Arlington. The ambiance can't be beat - great lighting with an old school feel and live music on weekends. Food is always delicious - the tortellini della nonna and lasagna are our faves. Definitely a classic in Arlington!

Yelp
For about 4 decades, Piccolo Mondo Restaurant has been all about live music, romantic atmosphere and quality scratch cooking. Piccolo Mondo was started by Antonio Capaccioli of Siena. My curiosity was finally satisfied having visited. We ordered: *Antipasto Misto ( Fam vetoed my Escargot alla Romana suggestion) *Lasagna alla Bolognese *Gnocchi al Pomodoro *Sides: Fettuccine Alfredo, Meatballs & Sausage *Tiramisu Their hospitality and ambience were on point. Stand outs: Antipasto Misto, Lasagna alla Bolognese & Gnocchi al Pomodoro.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Piccolo Mondo was a very nice experience with an inviting dining room, white table clothes too. The food and service were very good too. My server was very attentive and checked on me several times. This is a great restaurant to celebrate special events.

Jared S.

Yelp
It's decor is dated, but sort of in a good way? The food is reasonable, as is the service. Not great, not bad. Probably don't need to go again for a while, but happy I tried it.
google avatar

Pam C.

Yelp
What a great meal! We went early but if we had known about the piano man we would have gone later. The place was really cozy and comfortable. Will definitely go back.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
I had a great solo late lunch yesterday. My waiter was attentive and polite. The spaghetti bolognese was better than what I'd had in Rome about a week ago. To my delight they serve spumoni ice cream. My favorite. Of course I saved room for that and was very pleased I did. I have plenty of my meal to lunch on today. The restaurant is very nice. I plan to add it to my places to go back!
google avatar

Brandon B.

Yelp
Food was well priced and had ok flavor (angel hair with butter cream sauce, seafood). Seafood was frozen or had the flavor boiled out of it. Caesar salad was a bit on the 'meh' side. Parmesan cheese was powdered Kraft brand, not freshly shaved. Old fashioned was likely the worst I've ever had. They sprinkled in sugar, rather than using a simple syrup. Garnishes were not present. Was basically a whiskey on the rocks with sugar.
google avatar

William G.

Yelp
I had dinner with a large group recently at Piccolo Mondo. I gave it three stars which is average in my opinion. This is a locally owned restaurant which given the prevalent of the ubiquitous chains is a real positive. They did an excellent job in serving our group. Food arrived promptly, everyone was served at the same time, and no glitches in the orders. The food was okay. I had the lasagna and it was pretty generic. Our server was on the gruff side but he got all of our orders correctly.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good . Service was great . Nice and cozy place not too big or small of a restaurant. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was goood .
google avatar

Elaina R.

Yelp
Came here this evening and will definitely be back. The place is beautiful inside. They had a pianist playing. Wasn't overly loud but just relaxing and nice. Could still enjoy a conversation while enjoying the music. The servers and bussers are attentive. My water glass was never empty. Any finished plates or silverware were taken almost immediately from the table. The food was delicious! I wish I had taken a picture. The salmon was phenomenal. The sauce was yummy. Our server was great as well. I wish I got his name. Thank you for a delightful delicious evening and meal. We will be back.

Kimberly R.

Yelp
This was not good food. Very cheap ingredients and watered down recipes. The price dictates much more which we were expecting. Extremely disappointing. My teenager could cook better Italian food.

Linda S.

Yelp
Service and food is outstanding!! I love to go on nights when they have live music. I celebrated my wedding anniversary and birthday at Piccolo Mondo's this year.

Yelp
What. Why have I never been here before? I've spent so many years in Arlington, it's nuts that I hadn't eaten here! Jon was looking for a spot for us to get lunch and suggested Piccolo Mondo, since Yelp had some reviews that mentioned gluten free options. One review said they had gf stuff, another said they didn't. So I called to ask! I spoke with the owner and he let me know that they have both gluten free penne and spaghetti, and that their proteins could always be served with veggies and potatoes as well. He was super accommodating and kind and sounded excited about his restaurant's food, which made me want to go even more. This restaurant looks like it'd be tiny from the outside, but it's so big inside! They have a piano and live music in the evenings Tuesday-Saturday. We went for lunch and it was super quiet, just a few tables. Linens, fresh flowers, low lighting. Quite cozy and I can see how it'd be romantic in the evenings. I started with the tomato and mozzarella while Jon for a Caesar salad. Both were perfect. The baguette served with butter smelled AMAZING and Jon said he ate way too much bread. Our waiter, Doug, was the best. He was cool and comfortable and nice, knew the menu perfectly, made great suggestions, and took good care of us. Jon got a special, penne with creamy pesto sauce and grilled chicken. I got the same thing without chicken and with gluten free pasta. Doug let us know the gf pasta would take a bit longer to cook, but we didn't mind at all. IT WAS SO GOOD. The pesto sauce was so perfect, they need to bottle that stuff. Jon said, "let's go back for dinner." Haha. We definitely will soon!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great throw back Italian experience!! Hands down the best Calamari Friti I've ever had. I normally experience calamari rings, this was like a steak and sliced into slices. Lasagna was a very traditional with a Béchamel sauce. Eggplant Parmesan was individual eggplants rolled up with a cheese filling... It was a table favorite. Housemaid gnocchi was little pillows of cheesy potato goodness The tiramisu was very similar to the recipe our Italian neighbors make. Now I know where to go get it when they're not sharing
google avatar

L S.

Yelp
One of my true favorites in the DFW area! Old school Italian with a classy atmosphere!
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
I wanted to like this. I ordered the veal Parmesan and the chicken Alfredo. The chicken Alfredo had no taste. I mean it's like they're not sure what spice to use. The veal had the crust falling off and the marinara just didn't taste right. I was hoping for a gem. Price wise it is on the high side of the scale as well. It's a pass.
google avatar

R H.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Great views and relaxed yet classy ambience. Their sourdough is one of the best I've had!

Mike U.

Yelp
Nothing bad to say, great food, service and atmosphere, has been for years. Plenty of parking - best to make a reservation
google avatar

Fran B.

Yelp
The food is consistently very good. Service is attentive and not rushed. It's usually quiet enough to talk. Sometimes they have live music. One of our favorite restaurant for celebration meals.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
After work if you're looking for quiet and good food come here. The prices are worth the bites. The staff members really took into account dietary plate choices and were willing to adjust. Big Tipper.
google avatar

Linda N.

Yelp
Cloaked within a shopping strip, you typically wouldn't expect a very cozy and intimate dining experience in Arlington. There was a live pianist to make the night even more charming. People often get dressed up and men wear ties. I came more dressed up in nice leggings, heels, black top, and super cute cropped jacket and I felt like I still could fit in. Service was impeccable. Water was always full and that water alone taste great. They serve nice warmed bread with butter and with our entrees it came with a soup or a salad. It is just the soup of the day, so there isn't much of a variety. Recently it was minestrone and was it good for a vegetable soup. I love the alfredo pasta because it is nice and rich. As the pasta sits, the sauce thickens with time. Date mentioned that his chicken was flavored very well. I had the eggplant parmigiana recently and it was decadent. I did ask for chili flakes on the side so I could kick it up a notch. I had the other half of the eggplant parmigiana and and the cheese just pulls on for days.... that is some good chees that used on the food. Cute date night in Arlington? Yes.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Delicious Italian cuisine. Quietly tucked in a shopping center. Beautiful live music-pianist and saxophonist. Romantic evening! I had the shrimp and mushroom linguine and it was tasty. My husband enjoyed his spinach ravioli in red sauce. Really good! Traditional style, old school. Keep this place in mind for north Arlington! Small business owners rock!

Joel J.

Yelp
I've been a part of F&B, Hospitality, Fine Dining, its preparation and presentation for decades. Piccolo Mondo is recognized by the finest chefs and restaurant owners in the region as one of the best run establishments in the Metroplex and beyond. Most of the time you'll read good reviews of Piccolo Mondo. Every now and then you'll see an unfavorable review usually by an inexperienced diner, perhaps someone inexperienced at communicating with a waiter. The wait staff at Piccolo's actually make a living from the income earned at the restaurant. That says a lot in and of itself. The food is culinary. The service near flawless. The atmosphere beautiful. (Finished out ceiling and carpet on the floor, the room is quiet and mainly peach in color with dark wood trim in places, very attractive). The bar is nice with few regulars but, there is little new conversation because the owner who must be a little lonely has a tendency to butt into conversations and if he doesn't care for a patrons response his response is - " Get out of my sandbox !! " What a restaurant strives for is a constant book of business so the food is always fresh, the staff well practiced and consistently paid and the establishment and owner gainful. If there is a lull in business now and then it might be time for an owner of his establishment to "look out the window" from time to time and wonder what he can do better. In this case he can be more constantly friendly to his customers that will result in professional and perhaps personal relationships with his patrons all the while insuring the wait and bar staff are well and consistently compensated. Living in the city is not cheap !! Piccolo Mondo is a "keeper" for north Arlington !! Let's all wish them continued success !!
