"The step-above-casual date night spot in Roma is Pigeon. It’s an energetic cafe on a charming corner in Plaza Río de Janeiro, and is a cozy, classed-up setting with mid-century modern decor, leather booths, and dim lighting. For a place this nice, it’s surprisingly always easy to walk in and get a table. The menu uses Mexican ingredients like zucchini blossom, avocados, and local seafood and mixes them up with a European flair. Share the pesto fettuccini with fried artichoke and pecorino—it’s al dente perfection, and the creamy pesto isn't over-the-top strong (so no scaring off your date with too much garlic). Chefs Mercedes Bernal and Rodney Cusic are behind the culinary project, inspired by casual European taverns. Though the menu isn’t vegetarian, options with vegetables are plenty and delicious, like roasted carrots with creamy tofu, rice with eggplant and turmeric, and rice croquettes with mushrooms and mozzarella. If you want something hardier, the roasted chicken with harissa and lemongrass is an excellent option, while the steak tartare with capers is a favorite among locals. This was one of my favorite meals we shared while in Mexico City. Be aware that "Mediterranean Restaurant" in Pigeon refers to food made in any country that touches the Mediterranean, not your more common Greek/Lebanese cuisine (though they are featured). The cheese board was a delicious combo of meats, fruits, nuts, and super soft bread to keep you busy. For entrees we had a pasta dish a piece, and loved trying all three different offerings there. For drinks, the highlight was a Gorgonzola Negroni, which exceeded shaky expectations by a long shot. When I come back to CDMX, I'm adding this to the top of my list of places to go.

Beautiful place with beautiful vibe. We have been there when they had Jazz band playing, it was magical. We had drinks and food plank, was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this place for slow and enjoyable apero!

Overall the food was good and the location is nice since it is right off the side of rio de Janeiro park. I found the vibe inside a little stale so we sat outside. The food was nothing out of this world for the price but it was tasty and more on the healthy side. The staff gave me weird vibes from the beginning though. We went to celebrate my partner and when I told the staff they made me feel awkward. Later when I was in the restroom the waiter asked my partner if we were celebrating that night (spoiling the surprise) and then proceeded to not follow through on the cheesecake he had told me he would bring. Although it is not the end of the world it was very disappointing.

Fabulous food, quick and accommodating service. The fish of the day was delicious. The waitress with the heart tattoo- didn’t catch her name- was patient and helpful given our limited Spanish. This is a must revisit.

Pigeon is a nice little restaurant located inside a thriving neighborhood in Mexico City. Perfectly located alongside Edificio Río de Janeiro in Roma Norte, evoques an art deco atmosphere that, to my taste, is lacking some highlight and is not as vibrant as I was expecting. The service is good and cordial, maybe a little on the not so knowledgeable of drinks and food recommendation, but still very pleasant. The menu is short, but full of choices for everyone, with a nice French touch. Got the rice balls and assortment of cheeses for starters, they were amazing and very tasty! Still I was expecting some more cheese and less figs and bread. The pork schnitzel tasted very good, big portion, but lacked the actual feel of the original dish. Too thin, more like a pork “milanesa”. It’s overall a good experience to try, but in the end I felt that’s a bit expensive for what you get.

This place was amazing from beginning to end, the food was delicious with great, simple ingredients, nothing disappointed us. We ordered a few entrees to share, a main course and dessert, it was really good and the ambiance is amazing. We had a table inside, which I would recommend if you want to have a calm night with no interruptions from street sellers, the restaurant is located in a very transited street. Food: 10/10 Price: $500 per person + alcoholic drinks. Service: 9/10 Setting: 10/10 perfect for a date or a gathering with 2-3 friends.

Great cocktail hour (from 13:00 to 15:00). Loved the cocktail with gin and coriander root. The octopus tapa was very tasty. Cheese table was ok. Prices were decent. Service was relatively fast but could improve. Nice outdoor seating with views to the park.
