The 8 Best Peruvian Restaurants In SF

"Whether you come to Piqueo’s in Bernal Heights for a meditative lunch full of tangy leche de tigre salmon ceviche or a high-energy dinner of super-umami lomo saltado, the Peruvian food is going to be great. For a bit of sweet and salty, order the baked empanada (with your choice of chicken, beef, or mushrooms) dusted with powdered sugar. But we always get the pork belly chaufa, which comes with silky scrambled eggs, crispy pork belly, and hoisin-fried rice. And ask for a side of yucca fries and aji amarillo, even if you think you’ve ordered enough. " - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1, patrick wong

Piqueo’s Review - Bernal Heights - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"No matter the mood, you’ll find a version of Piqueo’s that fits your needs. The Bernal Heights Peruvian is good for a meditative lunch featuring plantain chips and tangy salmon ceviche swimming in leche de tigre. When the sun goes down, the place is just as optimal for scream-talking at your date over the sound of 2000s pop and a full dining room while eyeing the last yucca fry. In either case, you’ll get delicious renditions of Peruvian staples. We especially like the umami-smacked lomo saltado, the sugar-dusted baked empanadas, and a pork belly chaufa that should be automatically added to every order. Piqueo's doesn't offer lunch reservations (you wouldn't need one anyway), but weekday dinner reservations are usually easy to come by. And in case you're relegated to sitting in the shrub-encased parklet, there are blankets and heat lamps to keep you warm." - Patrick Wong

The 22 Best Restaurants & Bars In Bernal Heights - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Piqueo's is split up into a few small dining rooms, which makes this Peruvian restaurant feel pretty intimate. Share some small plates, like the ceviches made with spicy leche de tigre and whatever fish is fresh that day, or wine-braised short ribs that all but fall apart. The service is quick, but dinner here still feels like a full evening out." - Lani Conway, Will Kamensky, Julia Chen 1, Ricky Rodriguez
