"A native Neapolitan and an avid ambassador of thin crust pies, Pizza Bocco Lupo’s owner takes pride in the details of his craft—down to the fresh mozzarella cheese, crushed tomato sauce, 00-style flour, and extra virgin olive oil. The tiled oven—its belly fed by a steady diet of almond wood and pizzas—was built by a third-generation oven builder from Naples and cooks each disk of dough to perfection in two minutes flat. For the pizza purists, the restaurant offers a satisfyingly simple margarita, its modest covering of sauce, cheese, and basil leaves allowing you to focus on the skill of pizza making without the distraction of toppings. But if you like a pizza with a little more oomph, request Joe’s Special. Your piping hot pie will come adorned in sausages, basil leaves, and mushrooms." - Johanna Harlow

Stopped by here today for a late lunch. I'm in San Jose for a conference this weekend and decided to walk up to the San Pedro Square Market. There were a number of interesting food vendors in the market but I decided to check out Pizza Bocca Lupo. The guys were very friendly and recommended the lunch special. My lunch special was a half of a Joe's Pizza and a half salad. They did not skimp on any of the ingredients. The salad included arugula, Gorgonzola, dried cranberries, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The Joe's Pizza included mushrooms and sausage. All of the ingredients were top-notch and it was all done in less than 5 minutes. I couldn't ask for anything better for a quick lunch. All of that and the total including a diet Coke was less than $18 including a tip. These guys know what they're doing. Definitely check them out!

I always have to get one of their pizzas whenever I come to San Pedro Square Market. They are perfectly sized to share, or keep for yourself! The toppings are great, and the crust is excellent. It's usually not too long of a wait either, even though they cook to order!

Google
It's alright, I wouldn't get it over most pizza places I goto though. Pricing isn't great but it's ok too. Overall I don't hate it but it was a try it once spot.

Ordered Joe's special and loved it. Flavorful toppings and great crust. Was worried it will get cold because it was a take out but it was still great.

Google
The pizzas are reasonable but not as good as some of the reviews claim. They are tasty and the dough is good, but there seems to be an issue with the pricing, a basic margarita goes for $17 but the Joe's special with meat and other ingredients costs $19. How can it be that a pizza that is tomato and cheese costs as much as their premium option? The team should review their pricing strategy. If they would sell Margheritas for 12, it would be a fantastic deal, but for $17, not only it’s not exactly cheap, but also you’ll be left hungry as the portions are not enormous and the pizza is not doughy. If you crave pizza, go for it, but if you want value for money, this is not the place.

Pizza Bocca Lupo is without doubt about my favorite pizza places in the Bay Area. Great sauce and toppings on top of the most delicious dough crust you could find... ❤️ Located at San Pedro Square Market, it is a great place to go with friends or family, so many options to choose from so everyone can get what they like best. I usually get my pizza here and pick up a drink from Urban Ritual to enjoy alongside it. This time I got their Joe's special pizza with sausage, mushroom and mozzarella. They are always very efficient and friendly with their service. There is plenty of seating, both inside and out, with music and a couple of great bars as well. On many days there will be live music outside on the stage, especially during the summer. During the winter musicians will play inside one of the bars. Sitting outside is really nice during the summer, it feels very communal, the tables are comfortable, and if you have kids they really enjoy running around and exploring the place while you might simply enjoy listening to the music when it's playing. There are great options for dessert as well around the plaza, such as Mochinuts. This pizza place as well as this whole plaza are highly recommended for a good afternoon or evening out.

Google
Amazing pizza for a "walk-up" pizza place in San Pedro Square Market. We had the pesto pizza with (smoked) chicken and Joe's Special. The dough was expertly rolled and baked, thin and soft in the middle, brown and crispy on the edges. Pesto pizza offered a taste that lingered, and the smoked chicken was nice and tender. Joe's Special was tomato sauce w sausages, tomatoes and mozzarella. Both excellent for a total of $30! All pizzas are 12" "personal size".

I love food halls and I love Neapolitan pizza so this place really hit a home run for me. It's located inside of San Pedro Square Market. The service was incredibly friendly and we got our pizza pretty quickly. We enjoy spicy food, so we opted for the Patrizio. It was delicious. It had a kick to it without being overwhelmingly spicy. The pizzas are fairly big, but because the crust is so thin, I think one person can finish it on their own. My husband and I split one so that we could try other restaurants at the market. This is definitely a great stop for Neapolitan pizza!

Yelp
In the heart of San Pedro Square marketplace is this pizza spot. San Pedro Square marketplace is a popular spot to watch sports games with lots of food spots and drinks to order. Food:10/10 I got a margherita pizza and the ingredients are so fresh and the cheese was perfectly melted. There was more than just 2 basil leaves in my margherita, which is a plus too. Their pizzas are not very crispy but they are from a wood oven and I like that the pizza isn't too oily. The pizza is cut into only 4 slices, but shareable amongst two people. The price is fair for the quality and taste. Ambiance: In front of the pizza place, there are high tables and high chairs, there are also booths you can sit at too. You can order on the kiosk or in person. The workers are very friendly. There's a parking garage across the pizza place and plenty of street parking spots too. This is now my favorite food spot in the San Pedro Square marketplace. Looking forward to my next pizza craving!:)

Yelp
Eh, just an okay margherita pizza. Delicious red sauce but it was so watery that the slices were super floppy (had to eat the slices folded-NY-style otherwise would've made a huge mess). Crust wasn't exceptionally fluffy and was even kinda leaning towards the tough side. Overall not a bad spot if you're craving for pizza at San Pedro Square Market but wouldn't say that it's a must-try.

James H.

Yelp
Pizza is decent here. Not bad, but not wow amazing either. For me this is the okay I can eat this pizza and I would not be mad. I did have to add additional toppings like pepperoni and garlic, but if the pizza is going to be 19 dollars on its own for an individual size plate, I think you should comp on some of the toppings. Not a cheap pizza to say the least. They were pretty busy, but quick about getting the pizza cooked and again can't complain about the taste. I just need to try more Neopolitan style to actually compare this to. I do love that they use the brick oven and actual wood and fire for all their cooks. San Pedro Square is always a fun and cool place to come and hang out very good place just to come and socialize with your friends and peers.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this spot back in the day during my San Pedro Square nights out but there was always a super long long line every time. This time, we came around 2pm on Saturday and there was no line. I ordered the Joe's Pizza which came with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. The pizza was out in minutes. It was good but nothing great. The slices could have been smaller (they cut the pie into 4 big slices). It was pricey and super cheesy which I am not a fan of. All in all, it did the job as we came to San Pedro Square to hang out with friends. In terms of rating the Neapolitan pizza? There is so much better elsewhere.

Betty C.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a few years. At first, it was one of my fav pizza places. In the last 6mos to a year, the quality has tanked exponentially. I've been embarrassed to recommend my friends here. One time I came to eat with a group...recommended this pizza. The pizzas were soggy, floppy, runny and hella skimp on toppings. I've decided to assume that everyone has a bad day and I keep trying and wishing it was like the old quality standard. Today, I asked for extra toppings and extra fire in the oven as I do not like soggy pizza. As you can see by my photos.... Soggy central. This pizza is not worth the "San Pedro Tax" (aka higher prices, etc) The positive, sauce and flavoring is great.

Yelp
Located within the quaint San Pedro Square Market, Pizza Bocca Lupo sticks out at you with its smell of fresh Neapolitan-style pizza and tiled wood oven. I waited only about two minutes in line before ordering. I went with the classic Margherita. The staff were professional and efficient, handing me a buzzer as I went to sit down. In total, it took between 10-15 minutes for my order to come out. The pizza itself was very solid, especially the tomato sauce, which had hints of both sweet and savory. The slices are thin but hold a good amount of cheese and sauce and were, peppered with delightful little dough bubbles. If you're looking for a good Neapolitan pizza place in San Jose, this place is worth a visit!

Yelp
We found Pizza Bocca Lupo on Yelp and it has been on our to try list for a while, on the hunt for some good Italian style pizza. I've seen it many times while paying a visit to San Pedro but have never tried the pizza! Unfortunately the day we came also happened to be right before the Sharks game so you can imagine how packed it was. There was about a 30 min wait for the pizza orders, which I felt wasn't terrible considering how many people were there that night. At least you knew your pizza was coming out piping hot! We ordered the Margherita pizza and while it was good, it wasn't one of our favorite Margherita Italian style pizza. The cheese seemed a bit over cooked that it started to taste like a regular cheese pizza. The crust was good but there were parts that were a bit more burnt than I like. We weren't too impressed by the food but the people there were kind and friendly. Our hunt for a good Margherita Italian pizza continues!

Yelp
I am updating this review to a 3 due to the SLR (Service Level Recovery) of the owner. He reached out to me, we discussed the issues, and then he provided me a refund. I still will never eat here again, but the spouse did enjoy his pepperoni pizza.

David T.

Yelp
One of the best authentic Neapolitan pizza in the south bay; almost as good as Michelin star Doppio Zero pizza in Mountain View. I love the half pizza and half salad option lunch special. I like it better than the Roman pizza Pizza Antica in Santana Row. Highly recommended.

Srujan B.

Yelp
We visited based on positive reviews, craving some Neapolitan pizza. We ordered the Margherita pizza, and while the taste was undeniably great, the cornicione wasn't as airy as expected. Additionally, the charring was uneven, with one side more burnt than the other. Since there was no rush at the time, I was surprised why it was so uneven. This spot is located inside the San Pedro Square Market, so dedicated restaurant seating isn't available. I might give them another try before exploring other options because I did really like the taste.

Yelp
I've had pizza from Pizza Bocca Lupo a few times now and they're always pretty solid. You are able to customize your pizza if you want to but you cannot do half/half of two flavors unfortunately. Their wood fire oven always makes great quality pizza and their dough makes a great base each and every time. The last time I was here, I tried their pesto pizza and added chicken, tomato, and basil with a side of ranch. It took less than 10 minutes for it to be ready despite it being a really busy weekend. Unfortunately, it was overly salty this time around and I did not use the ranch at all. I think sticking to their marinara sauce is the safest bet and just customize your toppings. The staff is always really friendly here and they're very helpful when asking for combo recommendations. They are a great addition to San Pedro Square and I will always come back for more.

Jason M.

Yelp
Came here on June 21. Ordered the Joe's Special. It was okay. Mine came out pretty oily. You order at the counter and are given a buzzer to notify you when the food is ready. They did underestimate my wait time by 10 minutes so it was a bit of a wait. Plenty of seating outside if you can't find anything inside. Decent spot if you're looking for pizza.

Nohemy C.

Yelp
We had some of the best Napoli style pizza in Washington DC and were craving it, so decided to try this place out. We come to San Pedro Square at least once a month but hadn't tried Bocca Lupo. We arrived shortly after they opened so the pizza took longer than expected (about 17 minutes). I ordered the margherita and husband ordered the Joe's special. The margherita had more cheese than a traditional and the basil strips were small but it was still delicious. It is a 12 inch pizza and I got really full halfway through. The Joe's special had even more cheese and the toppings were not spread evenly but he enjoyed it nonetheless. We enjoyed it outside in the sun while the NFL games were going.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Not bad, quality ingredients the dough was ok. Was quick and fast but average. Great place to sit outside and people watch. Lots of options in the market if pizza is not your thing. Overall the market was a great place to meet up with people and sit outside

Araceli P.

Yelp
Great location inside the San Pedro market place! Ordered the Margherita pizza - Deliciously simple. Tangy tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, fragrant basil, all atop a crispy crust. Classic flavors that never disappoint. Authentic Italian perfection. Would rate a 5 star but did not have a good experience when ordering with one of the staff, she was super impatient and gave me a bothered look when I was ordering. Seemed to be completely over her day and it translated to our interaction. Patience goes a long way and makes guests return to build loyalty. Overall pizza was delicious!

Sarah A.

Yelp
Lucky enough to visit San Pedro Market for the 2nd time in January 24' and chose Pizza Bocca Lupo for my dinner. It's hard to pass up their massive pizza oven and the pizza making in perfect view. I loved my pizza, short wait and it had amazing crust. You can order at a kiosk on your own or talk with their friendly crew. Can't wait to go back.

Haleh H.

Yelp
The pizza was great! It's a true Napoli style pizza. Delicious thin crust baked in a wood-burning over which makes it even tastier. We ordered a margarita & Joe's special, both really good. Considering how busy this square market was on Friday, the wait for ordering & getting our food wasn't bad at all. They have nice big outdoor area with live music. A lot of fun. Highly recommend going here for a fun Friday night dinner & drinks and make sure to grab a pizza!

Lar R.

Yelp
The service was exceptional, pizza was great. And the manger Ron was so kind. Tell him I sent you

Yelp
My family and I grabbed dinner at San Pedro Square last night and I was craving some pizza so I decided to get some from Pizza Bocca Lupo. I've gotten pizza from here many times and it has always been good! I decided to try a pesto pizza for the first time and added pepperoni and mushrooms to it. Great flavor and so tasty! The dough is perfectly soft and chewy. I do wish that there was more pesto on the pizza, you could taste it but I personally would've liked more of it. The service is good here. The person at the counter was friendly and answered my questions about substituting toppings. This place is a popular pick at the market, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes if it's busy. Consistently good pizza here - I've never had a bad experience and would recommend trying it out if you're craving pizza and you're at San Pedro Square!

Ady W.

Yelp
Came here twice during a trip to San Jose! Great pizza in cute little food court type area. Nice to have lots of other options around too If not everyone is feeling pizza. But we loved the pizza! Got a margarita both times and it was delicious!

Karen A.

Yelp
This ain't your run of the mill pizza, no sireee...this baby has that wood fire taste to it with thin crust and it hits the spot. The pizzas can be on the oily side--but, hey, it is pizza...and if you don't like that, you can always daub the top with napkins to absorb some of the oil. One downside is that primarily their pizzas are tomato sauce-based, and I prefer more of a selection of sauces and toppings.

Huey N.

Yelp
They are my gold standard for Neopolitan style pizza. When I want pizza, this is what is in my head. Their pizzas are consistently super solid. If I'm in San Pedro and need a bite of food, I default to here because I don't really want to be bothered with trying anything else there.

Truc N.

Yelp
Great fresh pizzas, fast service, excellent lively location, great prices for foods and drinks. Check it out when you in San Pedro square

Kevin M.

Yelp
This pizza place in San Pedro Square offers a three-star experience with its really good, cooked-to-order pizzas. The catch is the wait time - if you're ordering at the restaurant, be prepared for a bit of a delay since they don't have slices ready to go. However, the vibrant and fun atmosphere of San Pedro Square somewhat makes up for the wait, adding to the overall enjoyment of your meal.

Chris M.

Yelp
This place is super cool! It's located inside of a food hall situation with plenty of other restaurants and alcohol options. You don't have to drink to have a great time here but it'll definitely add to the ambiance! In the outside seating area they were playing some upbeat jazz music. The place felt very alive and definitely fulfilled the night out experience we were looking for. I should mention we went on a Saturday night so I'm not sure it would be as energetic on a weekday. Now for the pizza. It was pretty good! As far as the price, $17 for a smaller pizza is about what you should expect to pay at a place like this. Good flavors and the crust was thin but still had a great bite to it while having chew but not too chewy. Could have used a little more basil in my personal opinion but they basil that they did you tasted fresh and definitely came through taking a bite which left me wanting more lol. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good experience and if I were drinking here I'd probably opt for this pizza again haha.

Alicia L.

Yelp
As an Italian American, this is the BEST pizza in the Bay. Love the Thursday night team! Mia is a queen. Thank you Pizza Bocca Lupo!

Andrew T.

Yelp
I came here on a Thursday night before the Sharks game so San Pedro Square was pretty busy. The staff was friendly and I was given a beeper for once my order is ready. It took about 20 minutes for my order to be finished. I ordered the chicken bacon. It has chicken, bacon, onion, chili flakes, mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and crushed tomato sauce. The ingredients were fresh. The pizza tasted solid and was cut into 4 pieces. I wished the pizza was cut in more pieces, but I'm pretty sure you can just make that request. The crust was thin and a little crispy. I also asked for a side of ranch which they provided for free. There was a chili symbol next to the name on the menu, but it wasn't spicy in my opinion. I liked the onions on the pizza, but I wished they were more grilled. Solid pizza place!

Matthew B.

Yelp
I don't think there's any better deal in San Pedro Square Market than Pizza Boca Lupo's lunch special: half a personal Margherita pizza and a (small but tasty) salad for right around ten bucks. The Margherita wasn't the absolute best I've ever had, but definitely hit all the checkboxes for what I want in a Neapolitan pizza in terms of quality and flavor. The salad was not huge, just about half a handful of arugula with a little bit of goat cheese and some dried cranberries with a bit of vinaigrette, but it was a nice refreshing side that added to the overall meal. I usually eat a pretty big lunch, so this wasn't a ton of food for me overall, but it was definitely "enough".

John B.

Yelp
We couldn't choke down the pizza and the place was not clean. Needs some work. There was basically no service either.

Yiqiu W.

Yelp
Pizza is simple and tasty. It's crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The topping is also not too salted.

Dennis And Alana D.

Yelp
We ordered for pickup on a lovely Monday night. We came here 3 weeks ago on a busy weekend for "dine in" and the order process was equally as seamless. We ordered the Margherita Pizza. Hubby loves Margherita pizzas and this is his favorite place in the South Bay. In general, we love pizzas but this one's all around perfect. The thin crust, fresh ingredients, and delicious dough... The pizzas are wood fire baked exactly how we like it! Hubby loves the mozzarella cheese and I can't stop raving about the dough. Go here if you want high quality pizza with quick, quality service! Not to mention they have good wine to pair with your pizza.

Emily M.

Yelp
after a lap around the san pedro square, my friend and i noticed that everyone had a box of pizza, so we decided to try this place. unfortunately, the pizza was bland, undercooked, and overpriced. the toppings didn't really have much flavor and there was little to no sauce. the crust was undercooked and doughy, yet burnt in some areas. the service was fast and the the pizzas were cooked to order. since it is located inside of a food hall, the area can get crowded and rowdy but there were plenty of areas to sit.

Carolyn D.

Yelp
We got the Joes personal pizza and it was pretty good! This vendor is located in the corner of El Dorado hall in San Pedro Square. The corner was a little burnt as you can see in the photo and the meat wasnt spread too evenly though. Would be better if more attention was paid to quality control.

Alyson C.

Yelp
This place really hits the spot (especially after a couple drinks). I can't complain about this pizzeria -- it's fresh, it's fast, it's delicious, and conveniently placed across from a bar. The workers there are always soooo friendly, and it's the most non problematic joint I might've been to. By far, I recommend the chicken bacon (if your diet allows), it's sooo tasty and the onions are everything!

Livier M.

Yelp
Every time I have walked into San Pedro square market I catch a whiff of the pizza and this time around I got to try it. I originally walked in saying I wasn't super hungry and that I would maybe have just a slice....I ate the entire pizza. I don't think I've had pizza that good in soooo long. I couldn't help myself. I added some hot peppers and it just elevated it. All I'm going to say is come hungry and prepared to have your taste buds blown away!

Scott A.

Yelp
We were in San Jose for a concert at SAP and decided to stop by the San Pedro Square Marketplace. Pizza Bocca Lupo is simple authentic Neapolitan pizza. My vegetarian wife chose the Classic Margarita Pizza but they all looked amazing. Our pizza had that perfect char and the great chew. These people know pizza. Give them a try!

Catherine C.

Yelp
I went on an early afternoon it wasn't busy at all. I was happy to see a 1/2 & 1/2 situation. Lunch special was any half pizza and a half salad. The price was like 15 before the soda I believe. I loved the texture of the pizza, it's good ass dough! Even the salad dressing was very good. I'll def be back.

Meike S.

Yelp
Amazing pizza, my absolute favorite!!! I had the lunch special today: a half pizza (Joe's Special, super tasty!) and a half salad. Really enjoyed the food, the friendly service and the outside seating. Highly recommended!

Sid R.

Yelp
We ordered chicken bacon pizza: - Very few chicken pieces were there. - The taste of the pizza was below average, almost no taste for some reason. We did not enjoy the pizza at all and will never go there.

Kristina M.

Yelp
Came here for Friday dinner and although the San Pedro Square Market was bustling, the wait for my order was not too long. I find it hard to find quality, delicious Neopolitan pizza without comparing it to the pizza in Naples, Italy. However, this place got it down. The crust was perfect with the right char and the optimal textural chew. The marinara sauce was slightly sweetened and the pizza overall was aromatic and delicious. We really enjoyed the Joe's Special, which came with sausage, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. This is definitely a place to stop by when you are at the San Pedro Square Market!

Peter L.

Yelp
We just came back from NYC & suffering from pizza withdrawal. This hidden gem helped to alleviate some of our symptoms. It only sells whole pie made fresh, using a brick oven with real wood fire. We got the Joe's pizza (mushroom, sausage, mozzarella) & it was ready in 10 min. It was thin crust & can be easily folded, unfortunately it was not crispy. The pie was loaded mushroom but barely any sausage, mozzarella was fantastic. Overall very solid pizza, the crust was not yet NYC quality bit it didn't pretend to be.

Jose Manuel C.

Yelp
The staff is cool, the pepperoni pizza is delicious, and they have unlimited Parmesan cheese! This was a wonderful place to have a pizza, next time I return to San Pedro square I will consider eating here again!

Angela L.

Yelp
Bocca Lupo is a to-go style booth in San Pedro Square. Orders come with a device that rings when your order is ready, and seating is often full though not impossible to find. We got Joe's Special, which came with mushrooms and meatballs among other things. The crust was on the thinner side, and though the pizza wasn't crispy, it was still good. Since seating is so sporadic in the building where Bocca Lupa is located, I often sit outside or at the next building over. The notification device's range doesn't span that far, but you can ask the staff for an ETA and check back after that time. The pizza, if ready, will be held for you, making everything rather convenient.

K.C. N.

Yelp
We've only ever ordered this for delivery, but it is seriously good pizza. We often get ours without cheese and the crust and sauce stand alone!

Guess W.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been here. I do remember when neapolitan pizza was getting popular and boco was one of the only spots in SJ to get a pie. I thought it was really good then. Ingredients were top notch and it was a good pie. Flash forward at least 5+ years and one thing stood out to me when I got my pie yesterday. The cheese quality was cheap as hell. They used to use fresh mozzarella and now it resembles more like block cut mozzarella cheese. That alone ruins a neapolitan pie. Even the grated Parmesan was low quality. Still think the crust is good as before but im not going to pay $20 for a pie that cuts corners.

Ed F.

Yelp
YAY - My recent pizza craving has been satisfied :-) The lunch special is an amazing deal - offered Monday - Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Get 1/2 pizza and 1/2 salad for $7-10 (depending on the type of pizza you choose). I opted for the Margherita (Fior di Latte Mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, Crushed San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Little Basil, Olive Oil) and the Tomasso (Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Garlic, Oregano, Mozzarella, Parmesan Cheese, Crushed Tomato Sauce, Basil, Olive Oil) and was not disappointed. I am normally not a fan of thin crust pizza, as I'm a self-proclaimed "bread girl" and usually prefer Chicago or Detroit style pizzas with thick crusts and lots of sauce. But I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza here. It was hot and fresh. It had fresh ingredients, the perfect amount of cheese and sauce and the crust was tasty as well. A perfect harmonious blend all within one slice. Definitely 2 thumbs up for this establishment.

Christine D.

Yelp
Magically stumbled on this place when I wasn't able to attend a stand-up comedy show. Located in San Pedro Market Square, in Downtown San Jose. It was bustling and lively on a Friday night with a live band playing. As for this specific pizzeria, it's small and tucked away in the corner of the marketplace. This place serves Neapolitan style pizza with it's chewy and soft crust, baked in a wood fire oven, and fresh tomatoes. The Margarita Pizza was fresh from the tomatoes and aromatic with the basil. The char on the pizza crust added a new level of flavor on a simple pizza. Absolutely refreshing, vibrant, and magnificent! Definitely would recommend coming with friends so you can try multiple flavors of pizza

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Ordered the margarita to go and for $16, I didn't mind the price or wait. We ordered a couple drinks by the bar to wait for our order. The margarita was piping hot and had a super chewy crust. I wish there was more sauce and cheese.
