The 18 Best Restaurants In Asbury Park - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Since opening in 2024, Pizzeria ’Lucci has established itself as the undisputed best pizza at the Jersey Shore. They keep it pretty simple with a menu of outstanding pies, a few salads—while the caesar is great, we love the vinegary chopped salad—their near-perfect meatballs, and housemade semolina bread. But the pizzas are the star of their show, with a thin fermented crust that’s purposefully cooked well-done to ensure maximum levels of crispy. Get their pepperoni with red onion or the white ’Lucci Spinach, or make your own combo—we often order a pie with sausage and housemade pickled chilis. If you swing by during lunch, be sure to pick up a meatball or Italian sandwich, which, in addition to their rotating specials, are among the best in the area." - michael sinatra

Best Restaurants on the Jersey Shore - Eater NY

"After winning fans at Rosie’s in Point Pleasant, pizzaiolo Mike Gallucci has struck out on his own with Pizzeria ‘Lucci, a Belmar spot that offers a streamlined menu of pristine pies and a trio of appetizers. Don’t miss the ‘Lucci spinach pie, which NJ.com recently dubbed the state’s best white pie. You can BYOB and dine in, or order takeout for an A+ beach picnic." - Marion Brewer

This pizza is phenomenal. I’m not sure if they use sourdough or a high quality flour from Italy, but I ate an entire pie and didn’t feel heavy at all. When I had pizza in Europe, it felt just like this. The cheese adds real character and depth, by “depth” I mean the kind you find in properly stored, aged wine, where every sip feels like a small poem. The sauce perfectly balances the cheese and the flavor of the dough, while the char delivers that crisp kick. This will definitely be a stop for me whenever I’m in the area. Bravo all around!

I happened to arrive at the establishment precisely as it swung its doors open for the day—perfectly on schedule. From the moment I stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed by some of the friendliest and most inviting smiles imaginable. The staff then provided us with a concise explanation of how to navigate the ordering process. I must admit, choosing just one item felt like quite the challenge due to the enticing menu options available. Ultimately, I settled on a portion of their scrumptious meatballs along with a large Pepperoni pizza. Wow! Wow!! WOW!! This experience is undoubtedly deserving of a solid ten out of ten; I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

Finally got to visit Mike Gaullci’s new restaurant, one of the cofounders of my favorite pizza Rosie’s and they did not disappoint! The pizza did take about 45 min as I think they messed up my order but they apologied for the wait, but it wasn’t a big deal to me. The place spotless inside with a nice touch of top quality imported Italian goods which are favorites of the chef. I went simple with the basic round pie and It was perfectly prepared, with top notch ingredients. The fresh basil and grated cheese at the end is an excellent touch. The sourdough crust was delicious, thin and crispy. As I sat waiting for my pie, I saw some huge incredible looking salads and sandwiches coming about and am already planning my next visit to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend Pizzeria Lucci!

Google
Friendly staff, bright and comfortable dining area. Meatballs were moist and delicious in a tasty red sauce, ricotta was good with just the right amount of EVOO. Enjoyed both the 'Lucci Spinach pizza as well as the regular cheese pie.

Google
Overhyped. Barely any taste. Picked up a pie for takeout. 45min wait pretty long, but heard lots of good reviews from other locals regarding this spot, so don’t mind a wait if worth it. Sadly my girlfriend and I were let down. Didn’t ask for it well done, but crust was way too hard. No taste to the crust. Cardboard. Barely any sauce. Overall dry and not much flavor. Nice guys working in there and clean spot, but pizza is about pizza. Maybe it was an off pie, but not worth the money to try again.

Google
Great pizzeria in Belmar. I came here based on the recommendation of a friend who had seen a YouTube video on it. I ordered a pizza with Parma prosciutto and anchovies which was super delicious and did not disappoint. The pizzeria is slightly pricey but definitely worth it.

Google
Delicious, light and thin crust Pizza. They use high quality ingredients that make everything taste better.

Google
Got a white pie from here the other night off of DoorDash. Simply put, it was amazing. The only issue was the pie was a little too well done for my liking, so I would have preferred it to have come out of the oven a little sooner. That’s my only issue, with an otherwise amazing pizza. I’ll definitely be ordering again tho!

Yelp
I have to say I am floored by the quality and flavor of the food at Lucci. Seriously a top pizza place at the jersey shore. 10 out of 5 for food for sure! The folks there really care about their product and took the time to speak with us about our experience and shared that they are working hard to create a great experience. I would love to see a little more ambiance - perhaps a cozy vibe, so hopefully that will come in time. Just a little more decor could potentially do it. Can't wait to return for that crunchy crust, perfectly balanced sauce, and the perfect amount of cheese. Also, don't sleep on the Caesar salad - it's perfect.

Yelp
I am completely shocked that this place doesn't have over four stars. We LOVED Lucci! What I liked: * Holy smokes, their specialty white pie for October with squash, kale, red onion, and sausage is a home run. The sausage was big chunks of REAL, juicy Italian sausage (none of the fake crumbly stuff), the squash was incredibly flavorful, and the red onion was sliced thin, exactly how I prefer it on pizza * They sell square slices! I'm so sick of whole pie only pizzerias. You gotta' let us taste before we invest in a whole pie * Pricing is comparable to similar establishments ($20 plain pie) * Sourdough crust!!!! * Super friendly staff who you can tell are obsessed with pizza What I didn't love: * The only reason for the -1 star is because unfortunately the square slice was too dry, I think they just reheated it for too long, or maybe they need a little more sauce on it upfront. There were bites that weren't dry/had little pockets of sauce that were the bomb. This is one of those instances where I wish I could give a 4.5 All in all, GREAT place. Well worth the 1-ish hour drive from North Jersey.

Yelp
Wow! Best pizza I have ever had hands down! Also had the Italian sandwich was amazing and the bread was next level. Honestly the meal and experience was made so much better because the staff was so nice. Start with some wings at 10th Ave Burrito right next door and finish with some pizza at Lucci!

Yelp
We recently got takeout from here: a piping hot pizza with super thin crust and flavorful sauce & cheese. Really delicious! Just wish they had a slightly bigger menu. Looking forward to dining in soon.

Yelp
Here's the deal true artists delivering amazing pizza and sandwiches! Tough spot to get into on weekends but totally worth it! Most definitely back to explore more creations when km in the area!

Kelly K.

Yelp
Fresh, flavorful pizza! Love the simple and quality ingredients. One of my favorite pizzas in the area! We got Lucci special pepperoni and Lucci special spinach and loved both. Ordering was simple on the website and pizza was done on time
google avatar

Alexandra Z.

Yelp
Had to try more fan favorites from Lucci after having it for the first time earlier this month. The white pie is great and the meatballs are phenomenal. Super delicate and flavorful.

Yelp
Been wanting to come by for a while. The place is pretty minimalistic but obviously you come for the pizza. I tried the pepperoni with red onions and mozzarella. The crust has a nice crunch to it and it isn't floppy. So good. The marinara piece was bland and I am a marinara pizza expert. The meatballs were good and you can tell they are homemade. Love the sauce. One of the better pizza's in the area.

Yelp
A breath of fresh air down the shore, took out a plain with sausage. Very good ingredients cooked very well. Great flavor and not too cheesy. The dough is fresh, thin and crisp. Love the sausage, great flavor. I saved a couple of slices for my wife, and will be back to dine in and try the meatballs and salads. While waiting (I arrived 10 minutes early) it was busy, with food flowing from the kitchen and a happy vibe. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
Opening week... It was busy on a Thursday night at 7 o'clock. Friendly staff, nice and clean and new inside. I ordered takeout, I took about ~10 minutes. The pizza looks, smells, tastes fantastic. Love it!

Liz R.

Yelp
Delicious everytime! One suggestion for take out. I ordered a Caesar salad and there was an option to have the dressing on the side, which I did not want and did not click, so I assumed the dressing would have been tossed as you get when dinning in. When I got home it was on the side so disappointed. There was also not enough dressing so parts of the salad had no dressing no matter how much I tossed it.

Chris A.

Yelp
Went here the other night, got the caesar salad and then the pepperoni pizza. Both were pretty good, the wait was a little long. It's mostly dine in here too. Not a bad place
google avatar

Seth B.

Yelp
Don't typically leave reviews but felt compelled. I work at a highly respected pizza shop so I'm a bit of a pizza snob. Service was friendly and attentive and you can tell these guys really care. Got there right when they opened and ordered a pizza, Stracciatella and meatballs. Everything was great. Pizza was perfectly charred. Crust was crunchy and airy and pizza was thin but sturdy. Food was so good that I decided to take a Caesar salad home too. Good decision.

Clare C.

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. Got pizza and the chopped salad on Friday night. First the good - the pizza is fantastic. Thin crust, just the right amount of cheese and flavorful sauce. The bad. The salad. It was completely soggy and that was with the dressing on the side. I've made a salad for lunch the night before and dressed it and it wasn't as soggy as this. Will definitely try again but really hope they pay attention to how they store their greens.
google avatar

Jarrett M.

Yelp
Simple and delicious. Get the Pepperoni Lucci pie and the meatballs. You won't be disappointed.

Thomas F.

Yelp
Went there for the first time, staff very nice Ordered the meatballs thought they were delicious, The bread fresh made there. Pizza was excellent. Not the cheapest pizza place by any means But you can tell they're doing top quality ingredients and putting the effort in. I don't mind paying more for good quality. I don't live that close but when I am passing through will definitely return.

Yelp
Omg !! This pizza was wicked good thin crispy crust with nice char bubble. The sauce tasted like fresh plum tomatoes. With whole milk mozzarella cheese. I ate the entire pizza by myself. Very bright and clean inside the restaurant. Definitely would come back here
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
I would argue that this is the best pizza in the Monmouth/Ocean shore area. No frills, fast service (if you want a large menu, this may not be your spot). Everything I've had there in two visits is a 5 out of 5. I know others experienced long waits when it first started, but I think that was just a function of the initial hype. I've had no issues now that they're established.

Dale P.

Yelp
The food is great!! The service is wonderful, the place is very clean well maintained. An all around enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Pizzeria Lucci to anyone.

David N.

Yelp
Ordered a plain pie and I loved it! Bottom had perfect leoparding, super thin crust yet packed with complex flavor, giving off a subtle tasteful bitter-sour undertone. The man takes the bread-making craft very seriously, there are layers and depths to it. Just the perfect amount of basil and not overpowering like it is at other places I've also grown to love and respect (cough, Lucali). I'll be ordering whenever I'm in the area!

Joe K.

Yelp
Pizza was bland needs more taste in sauce and cheese. Dough was tasteless. Copy Rosie's pizzas

Rudy R.

Yelp
LOL at that one star review below, absolutely insane person. It was opening week and everyone knew the place was packed. The other two visits only took ten minutes to make the pies. This is an amazing pizza place. One of the best in the area. The plain, white and pepperoni pies ware incredible. 5/5. Thin, crispy, jam packed with flavor. High quality ingredients were evident. Can't wait to try the Spinach and Marinara pies. The meatballs and salads looked great too.

Katie B.

Yelp
Great pizza and homemade meatballs are excellent. It is easy to order online or go in and order your pizza. The bread is made every day it is fresh.

J B.

Yelp
2nd time trying. Very nice staff. But the crust is crispy the rest of the pizza was soggy again. Not enough seasoning or basil. It did not taste bad but it wasn't satisfying either. Caesar dressing was heavy on anchovy, too heavy and I love anchovies. Not our taste but others seem to love it. Nice people hope they do well. Other people in the restaurant seemed to enjoy it.

David P.

Yelp
Pizza is really very good. Other stuff is ok. Vibe is very "we are still working on it" None of it is worth it though. They are open enough to do the shove iPad in your face for a tip when YOU go to counter to order. They then tell you if you want water YOU get up to fill the tiny 4 oz glass they give you w the luke warm water from the tiny little home kitchen pitcher thing. No option to even pay for bottled water. You eat on paper plates, which I understand may be temporary. But if you want a new one after you eat the salad and meatballs, YOU get up and get a new one. This is all after they see you tip 20+ percent. Of course at the end of the meal YOU feel compelled to clean your table because there are people stalking your space and no one is even thinking about cleaning it because YOU only tipped 20 + percent... I understand they just opened The space is pretty bare. But if you are charging what they are and forcing the tip... I mean you're open right? $72 plus for one pizza, one salad, one order meatballs. Including tip. Plus we had to work the floor. Not worth it...

Yelp
I am a local and had high expectations. Sadly those expectations weren't met. Ordered a standard plain pie and house salad. This pizza falls right into the middle tier of pizza in this town. Simply, there wasn't anything satisfying or fulfilling about either item. Recommendation for those non-locals, spend your money at Federici's if you're looking for thin crust. No seating, long waiting, and inferior product. Wish them the best of luck, but never getting my business again.

G S.

Yelp
Listen, I don't mind waiting 85 minutes for a pizza (if you don't give me a hard time or attitude about it being ready on time). I stopped in tonight and ordered a pizza. I was told it would be ready in 85 min. So, I said fine. I came back 70 min later just to see if it was "on track" and I was met with a ton of attitude! "We told you it would be ready in 85 min!!!" I said "no problem" and then proceeded to wait another 30 min. And it still wasn't ready!! So, please don't give me an attitude, if you can't manage the logistics of baking a Pizza on your end. The ambiance is ok (albeit a little cramped). Clearly people want to eat inside; hence, the line out the door. So, let's talk about the food. I think the flavor of the dough was absolutely terrific. Chewy and tasty. And the sauce had a nice flavor too!! However, way too much char on the pizza. Like overcooked and black on top. So my wife and kids would not eat it at all, which was too bad. It has to look appetizing (first) and then actually taste good (second). What a let down after waiting an hour and half. Had to order take out from down the road. Next up, the meatballs. Once again, sauce was absolutely terrific. Loved it. However, the meatballs were not great whatsoever. They either weren't baked long enough or sauteed long enough. Don't know the process here. But some chefs like to saute them over an open flame and finish them in the oven. And some like to just bake them. In either case, these meatballs looked more like smooshed hamburger and were just really mushy! They couldn't hold their shape at all and just fell apart. Not great. If I wanted Bolognese, I would have gone somewhere else. So, in conclusion, I would probably stay with Federici's on 10th or Lubrano's Trattoria in Manasquan. Both serve excellent pizza, pasta and meatballs. I'm a hard pass on this place due to attitude, wait-time, too much char on the pizza, and terrible texture of the meatballs. Keep trying guys. And if you want an amazing pizza or meatballs try some other great local places. The shore has a ton of great Italian.

Yelp
Awesome pizza, meatballs, and staff. People/"Locals" giving bad reviews simply do not know good pizza! #imabenny

PoodleHead R.

Yelp
Their business is nothing new we haven't seen in Monmouth County. There are so many pizzerias already. The wait for one pie was an hour and a half. Vinnie's and Atilia's pizza are just as good or better. Or Joe's Rotisserie in Asbury Park on main Street is out of this world. Nope.

Adiel C.

Yelp
As a transgender woman that I am, I went into this pizzeria. I didn't want it to eat there but apparently they cannot make the ricotta to go "wierd" so I had to get a table and eat there the whole time the guys behind making the pizzas kept staring at me all the time so uncomfortable like really uncomfortable the food is nice however. I just felt really uncomfortable sitting there. Honestly, it's 2024!!

B S.

Yelp
Worth the hype! Incredible delicious pizza. Small menu, but that's how you know they're good at what they do. Quality over quantity !

matt p.

Yelp
Had very high hopes about this place. Tried 2 pies and the meatballs. Pizza was very greasy and cold. Meatballs were ok. Major let down and nowhere close to the top pizza in the area.

Barbra J.

Yelp
The pizza we had today was disappointing to say the least it was hard tasteless and shit the worst pizza i have ever had I have never been to a worse place expensive too

Greg G.

Yelp
What a nice surprise. We found this small pizza restaurant while heading to the Jersey shore. Pizza was very good. Wonderful crust. Nice balance of all the ingredients. We had a salad as well. It was very large with a nice vinaigrette. Restrooms and the entire restaurant were very very clean. The owner/pizza maker came out and checked in with all the tables to make sure everything was ok. We will definitely stop here again.

Joni F.

Yelp
Delizioso Pizza Perfection. On par with some of the best artisanal pizzerias ... Razza, Motorino, Qua. If they would add a clam pie to their menu, I'd move in!!!

Kate D.

Yelp
Have tried this spot a few times since they opened and it keeps getting better and better. The food is dope and the staff are all nice, my new favorite pizzeria in the area by far. The spinach pie is some of the best pizza I've ever had. Don't sleep on it!!

Shiah B.

Yelp
First time ordering take out tonight and it will not be the last. Quality is second to none. The pizza was out of this world and the large salad matched it perfectly. Vinegar cured peppers for the win. Everything was well balanced and just what you want from a pizzeria. The concept inside is crisp and inviting, staff was friendly and the wait was quick! This is a serious competitor in Monmouth county now.

Jordan L.

Yelp
Found my new pizza spot!!!! Good service and clean restaurant. I also enjoyed the playlist. Don't sleep on the 'Lucci spinach pie!

Joe M.

Yelp
Great spot, everything on the menu is really good, esp. the meatballs and the white pie. Cool vibe and friendly staff, will definitely be back.

Janice P.

Yelp
This was our second visit to Lucci's - our first visit in July was a very good experience - both the food and service. The second visit in September was not good, or I will even say - not acceptable. The pizza we had here in July was truly great - you could definitely taste the deliciousness of the milled tomatoes on the pie and the cheese was also great. What a disappointment during this last visit - the tomato sauce tasted like a cheap brand of jar sauce with no flavor or texture and there was barely any cheese on the pie and it was tasteless. The crust was good, but nothing outstanding. We also had a chopped salad as a starter which was just OK - they sparingly shaved some parmesan on the salad, which for the price ($18.00) was a disappointment, it needed a lot more cheese. Service here is mediocre at best, the staff doesn't go out of their way to explain the menu items but the cashier person is quick to have you pick your tip percentage amount when you are required to pay BEFORE you are served - very weird. There are too many better upscale pizza restaurants at the shore to bother going back to Lucci's for another try. We are locals and some of the best Pizza spots are: Crust & Crumble in Asbury, Squan Tavern in Manasquan, Federici's in Belmar and Talula's in Asbury.
