"It seems some people aren’t totally aware that one of LA’s best casual restaurants, Plan Check, has a downtown location. Well you do now, and that means their first-rate beer list and excellent bar food is ready your after-work needs. Come Happy Hour, which runs weekdays 11:30am-7pm, there’s $5 select draft beer and house wine, $8 cocktails, and a $9 jidori chicken sandwich that’s easily our favorite in town." - Brant Cox
"“Wait, there’s a Plan Check on Sawtelle?!?” is a pretty common response whenever we suggest this spot for a drink and a burger in the area. It may be the least-known of this local chain’s three locations, but they’ve got all the things that makes Plan Check great. That means excellent cocktails and one of LA’s best cheeseburgers, the Plan Check Burger, which involves ketchup leather and Americanized dashi cheese. "There are two ways to order bottomless brunch here. For $35, there’s the option to order micheladas, mimosas, and brass monkeys. "COVID-19 Update: Open for pickup. Plan Check is primarily known for the Plan Check Burger (PCB), which pairs a juicy patty with their signature ketchup leather (it’s like ketchup-flavored fruit leather). With the burger hogging the spotlight, it’s easy to overlook the fact that the restaurant also serves what’s arguably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city. The secret is that they cold smoke and brine the chicken before it’s fried—the perfectly crispy, flavorful result is served with pimento cheese, duck breast ham, and crunchy pickles. There are two other locations, on Fairfax and Downtown.
