"Vinings doesn’t have many vegan-only options. So if you’ve already exhausted the smoothie bowl route, Plantbaed is an exciting way to switch things up. There's always a steady stream of customers and delivery drivers filling up the small takeout joint that serves tasty, minimally processed plant-based meals like vegetable lo mein and walnut meat tacos. The tacos are the best thing on the menu—three soft flour tortillas, each with a generous scoop of the spicy walnut meat mix. The jerk chickpeas are offered as a side item, but this sweet and tangy snack is good enough to upstage some entrees here, especially the mushroom sandwich with heavily breaded, dry oyster mushrooms that are tough to chew. Food Rundown Walnut Meat Tacos An order comes with three small tacos, all filled with a generous portion of the spicy-tomatoey ground walnut mixture. It’s topped with fresh cilantro, onions, diced tomato, and a creamy chipotle sauce that gives the whole thing a nice tang. photo credit: Nina Reeder Cookies & Cream Smoothie If you like the taste of tahini, you’ll love this drink. It’s very close to a cookies and cream milkshake with added nuttiness from the black sesame seeds. Walnut Meat Bolognese Pasta The walnut meat ragu has a little kick of heat, but overall, it's bland. The wet linguini noodles just water the flavors down even more. And aesthetically, it looks like slop. Fried Oyster Shroom Sandwich It’s just OK. The brioche bun is sweet. The fried mushrooms have a good savory flavor, but they’re dry, not meaty, and tough to chew. And you’ll probably still be hungry after. photo credit: Nina Reeder Sweet Heat Jerk Chickpeas These fried chickpeas are the perfect things to munch on while you drive home with your order (we did just that).
