A Guide to the Hinterland Food Cart Pod, Opening This Week - Eater Portland

"Poppyseed caught the attention of Portland’s dining public thanks to dishes like duck country pâté with quince or braised Calypso beans with herby salads, though it’s been on hiatus through the late fall and winter. The Poppyseed team is tight-lipped on what’s coming to Hinterland." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Inside the New Carts at the Incoming NE Glisan Scout Beer Pod - Eater Portland

"One of the hot new carts in town, Poppyseed comes from another alumni of Portland institutions: Tim Willis, who spent time at Le Pigeon, opened the cart with Lissette Morales Willis, who came from Baker & Spice. Here, the two make dishes like a brisket sandwich with kohlrabi-carrot slaw, or duck country pate over parsnip puree with hazelnuts and cranberries. Morales Willis bakes fresh pain de mie for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and for dessert, the cart packages sticky toffee pudding sundaes and brownies topped with lemon-cardamom caramel." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

One of the best new food trucks in Portland! The food is extremely fresh and very well prepared. Highly recommend the mussels when coming. We love that their menu changes often so we always get to try something new and delicious when we come.

I live in San Francisco but make it a point to come here for the delicious food artistry: this time halibut honey, BLT salad, peach cobbler. This place deserves a Michelin star! As good as the recently shuttered Michelin-starred Al’s Place in my neighborhood!

Wow! Fresh ingredients and dynamic flavors. I was blown away by the Rockfish Escabeche that was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. Also tried the oysters and smashed potatoes. Paired it with their herbed gimlet which was light and well-balanced. Best meal I’ve had in a long time!

The menu is seasonal but everything we ordered is great! Ice cream and granita have no match. This small cart deserve a real restaurant

This chicken dish was the most complex flavored plate I’ve had eaten. Chicken diving into kale diving into tater tot interpretation and grounded in sauce. I wish I had more elegant words. Go eat this.

Just had lunch at Poppyseed and enjoyed it so much that I had to review it right away. We had the Albacore Tuna Burger and Maitake Mushroom Melt and both were absolutely delicious! Would (and will) highly recommend it to anyone. We're from out of town but hope to have the chance to eat here again. 3 stars for atmosphere because the food cart pod they are located in is still being built out so it's a bit of a construction zone with no seating at this time. I'm sure once the work is complete, it'll be great. I'm jealous of locals who will be able to enjoy the food at Poppyseed regularly!

Beautiful food with dynamic flavors. Great suggestion by the chef to try the tuna crudo on a bun! Definitely will come back!

One of the best meals I’ve had this year. Black Rose Sweet Tea was perfect with not too much sugar but enough to still taste like a Southern beverage. Fennel salad with strawberries was the best thing to feel fresh and healthy on this hot summer day and I don’t even have enough words to describe how fantastic the Chicken and Mushroom pasta was. Noodles were incredible. Sauce was incredible. Celery and citrus in the sauce was incredible but the most impressive was the chicken - brined and crispy skin on the outside and flavorful and juicy on the inside. Without question I will be back as soon as I can.
