The Best Restaurants for Over-the-Top Tomahawk Steaks | Eater Vegas

"Beef may reign supreme, but the bison tomahawk at Primal Steakhouse is an adventure into a whole new cut of meat. Priced at $165, this steak weighs 35 ounces deboned and is measured after carving, along with the other Primal Steak selections. Seasoned with a house blend of spices and herbs before being slathered in herb butter, this cut is cooked over gas to lock in a smooth, non-gamey texture and taste." - Jennifer Smith

Primal Steakhouse opens at the Boulevard Mall | Eater Vegas

"A low-key debut inside Boulevard Mall on Maryland Parkway—launched so quietly the mall landlord hadn’t yet added it to the tenant directory—this Central American–inspired, fine-dining steakhouse from executive chef Angel Lopez (whose resume includes Elio at Wynn Las Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace, and Sadelle’s at the Bellagio) focuses on thick, shareable cuts and theatrical, masculine decor. The interior is edged with broadswords, animal pelts, suits of armor and warmed by amber chandeliers and wall sconces, while a prominent front bar remains accessible from inside the mall. The menu pairs classic steakhouse offerings (including a 32-ounce $125 tomahawk steak intended for two, Delmonico, smoked New York, filet mignon, lamb chops and a rib-eye burger) with seafood and other mains such as branzino, skinned salmon, smoked halibut and pan-roasted chicken; appetizers spotlight Iberico ham, bone marrow, seared scallops and a Guatemalan-style chorilonga sausage. Cocktails lean theatrical as well—the bourbon-based King’s Elixir, the Prosecco-and-wildflower-honey Queen’s Nectar, and the Viking Punch served in an ox-horn drinking cup—while service operates daily in the evenings (open 5–11 p.m.)." - Bradley Martin

This is a must try Steakhouse if you’re visiting Las Vegas and want a high end steakhouse Restaurant with a unique experience. Visiting from NYC and going to all the best steakhouses in Manhatten Primal is absolutely on par with all of them. All of our dishes which included the French onion soup, Bone marrow, Porterhouse steaks and sides were all made with the best ingredients and cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality and sizes of the dishes. The ambience was amazingly done and unlike anything I’ve experienced in a steakhouse, all done by design which included a Professional violinist who played modern music. Service was friendly and prompt, Thank you to Andrew and everyone else involved who helped us that night. Looking forward to coming back to this restaurant. Will definitely return and recommend. From the Davis family to the Primal family thank you for an amazing Steakhouse experience.

I thought the ambiance was cool. We were seated a a small table near the bathroom, right next to the bar and it had extremely poor lighting, table was very small, what made it worse was that it was next to the bar so I had constant traffic next to our table, our server had to move to the side every time someone was walking to the bathroom. Luckily they had an open table towards the back and it was MUCH better, table was larger, brighter lighting it was great so thank you! As for the food: Appetizers were definitely disappointing. The server said the scallops were on the larger side, they were definitely not. And flavor was very bland. Same for the shrimp scampi, no flavor unfortunately. At this point we were pretty scared, worried to be honest. Until the entree…. The entree was unbelievably delicious!!! We got the 50 oz. Tomahawk, yummy! Mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve had! And the lobster tails were delicious also! I would return, but skip the appetizers, with the generous side portions and steak, the appetizers really are not needed anyways. We did have drinks, two appetizers, multiple sides, bill was over $500 for two people. So very pricey, we thought maybe some complimentary bread would be fitting considering their pricing…a steakhouse without bread?!?! Overall good experience.

I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience here. Every staff member was so incredibly kind, and since we were celebrating a wedding and birthday the manager and owner came by with champagne, special deserts, and comped our drinks and desserts. Our waiter, Derrick, was exceptional and made the night even more special than the milestones that we were celebrating. An experience we will never forget!

We first heard about Primal Steakhouse from a fellow passenger on a plane, who raved about it. We decided it would be the perfect spot for a special occasion and wow, were we in for a treat! The atmosphere is absolutely top-notch: cozy, warm, with low lighting that creates an inviting and intimate vibe. We arrived 30 minutes early and enjoyed a few drinks at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive... service was spot-on. While we were at the bar, live music started up; a talented one-man band playing violin, performing a mix of Christmas classics and timeless favorites. It added such a magical touch to the evening. Right on time for our reservation, a staff member politely came over to let us know our table was ready whenever we were. We finished our drinks and ordered a few more for the table then headed over. The menus, beautifully crafted with wooden backs, featured an extensive and tempting selection. Our server, Michael, was an absolute standout... he hit it out of the park! Fun, lively, and genuinely engaging, he elevated the entire experience with his energy and personality. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish burst with incredible flavor. We shared the Delmonico steak (after ordering plenty of appetizers and sides) along with all the sauces, and it was magnificently presented and perfectly cooked. From start to finish, we were blown away by the exceptional service, warm and friendly staff, and unforgettable atmosphere. It truly felt like we'd been transported to another world. We'll definitely be back to Primal Steakhouse; count on it!

I really wanted to like this place. Just had a baby so I literally waited a couple months to try this place. Let’s start with the positives. The violin player was amazing!! The decor and ambiance perfect! Bathroom corky! The food.. No! I had the sea bass my sea bass was fishy. I know it’s fish, but sea bass isn’t really fishy. I was hungry so I ate it. I also had the french onion soup. my soup was nonexistent. It was all soaked up by the bread. At least it was hot. Positive! my friends and husband all had the smoked ribeye medium rare. one steak came medium well done-done. My husband said his was rare but it was chewy and tough at the same time. not butter soft for a rare piece. if the price wasn’t priced like a real steakhouse then I would be a little more lenient, but true steakhouse prices! The service … the manager apologized for the medium well done done steak that was nice, but the waitress… yall need to train people in steakhouse customer service. We came to celebrate our birthdays and they didn’t even acknowledge aside from the hostess. My friend that was her birthday was super disappointed. No candle to blow! Should have used the candelabra from the front 🤣 We all left disappointed. Guess we all have to redo our steakhouse event at another steakhouse before libra season is over. It’s been a few days and I’m still bummed about it!!

Come for the atmosphere and the novelty of midevil decore, themed drinks and big pieces of manly meat. Unfortunately we went all in with the tomahawk, but when it came out, it was a giant piece of fat with little to no meat. The meat we did manage to cut off was though. It was enough where even the manager and waiter agreed it was a bad cut and decided to remake the steak for us. We just asked for a filet minon instead. That steak was much better, perfectly cooked and had flavor, but not enough to be memorable. Service is top notch. We met both managers and waiters were all nice. Food was ok. Photos before and after dinner were fun. Oddly they had a live musician that was singing covers of 90s music that night.

I wanted to take this time to personally thank the staff at Primal for another amazing experience this year. It started with an amazing conversation with I think the GM about Nissan GTRs followed up by Taylor their manager on duty, and then countless amazing suggestions and help from our waiter Ryan. Its just such an amazing atmosphere and enjoyable place to dine at. Not to mention the food is second to none! The 28oz Australian Wagyu was perfectly prepared and melted in your mouth and the giant portion 50oz Tomohawk was seasoned and prepared amazingly. Not a single bad thing to say about anything. Also, we suggest you try some of the flaming drinks, def a family favorite.

Delicious food and great drinks. Since we came here to share the porterhouse we decided to start with the shrimp cocktail. It had 5 big plump very tasty shrimp. Though the photo doesn't do it justice, the porterhouse was wonderfully cooked to medium rare. It was juicy and tender. The service was excellent as well. We had a great time.
