Old-fashioned spot for round or square pizza, garlic knots

"Opening two new restaurants in Orange County in summer 2025 — a Mission Viejo location on Alicia Parkway and a Brea outpost on East Imperial Highway — both will serve the same 18-inch New York slices that helped make the concept a runaway hit since its debut a decade ago. The menu also includes square pies, chicken wings, salads, hot sub sandwiches, and baked pasta (including vodka rigatoni). Owners Jason Bernstein, James Starr, and Zack Fishman opened the first shop on Fairfax Avenue in 2014; the Los Angeles–based operation currently runs seven restaurants across the region, from El Segundo to Burbank and Altadena." - Cathy Chaplin

"Prime Pizza is selling plenty of Sicilian-style pizzas (and lots of other styles) from its multiple locations, including Burbank and the team’s most recent opening, West LA." - Farley Elliott

"Prime Pizza is busier than ever these days, owing to some positive Instagram attention and the world’s renewed love of all things sauce, cheese, and dough. The Burbank location has become a mainstay for local families, while the Fairfax shop still turns out slices on the quick, too." - Eater Staff

"An iconic Burbank restaurant space has reopened as Prime Pizza after a complete overhaul by new owners James Starr and Zak Fishman; the former 15-year-old Taste Chicago corner stand-alone building long owned by Joe Mantegna now sports quirky pizza graphics, a big red Prime Pizza sign, and lots of slices inside. I note Prime formally opened yesterday and is keeping daily hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays). The menu is the same as ever, with 18-inch round pies, 8-inch square pies, sandwiches, salads, and more, plus beer (mostly local craft names like Burbank’s Trustworthy Brewing Co.) and cans of wine, with a happy hour planned in the coming weeks. Because the location sits in a single-family-home neighborhood, they’re offering a $30 family deal (cheese pie, garlic knots, and a salad). The spot does dine-in (about 30 seats with TVs for sports), takeout, and will add curbside pickup and free local delivery in the works; the group also operates locations in Little Tokyo and on Fairfax and runs Golden State, Bludso’s, and Cofax." - Farley Elliott

"A local pizza company led by co-owners Zak Fishman and James Starr with culinary lead Noah Galuten is taking over the former restaurant space and plans to expand its existing footprint (already on Fairfax with a follow-up in Little Tokyo). The new location will offer more dine-in room with beer and wine service, a large parking lot, and proximity to family neighborhoods and major studios—features that should support catering and delivery business. The team intends to acknowledge the previous restaurant’s legacy with mementos and has been in contact with the former owner; they are targeting an opening sometime between late summer and late fall and expect roughly 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily hours." - Farley Elliott
