The 38 Best Restaurants in Stockholm, Sweden | Eater

"Prospero, located a few steps down from the street, may look unassuming, but this casual restaurant features one of the city’s most delicious — and most affordable — tasting menus. It starts with snacks such as brioche with labneh, hazelnuts, and sultana raisins, and raw Atlantic redfish with sea buckthorn and fermented chile. For mains, there are pork chops with grilled salad and mussel sauce, and for dessert, burnt butter ice cream with cherries and raspberries. The wine list consists of carefully chosen bottles from progressive producers, mainly from Champagne, Burgundy, Jura, Mosel, Loire, and Rhône." - Per Styregård

Prospero

"There’s a slightly ‘underground’ feel to this small bistro, both figuratively and literally; you enter via a few steps down from street level, into a ‘half-cellar’ dining room with windows looking out onto the pavement. There’s an impressive level of restraint and control in the cooking, with sauces proving particularly impressive – such as a rich bisque enhanced by Thai-style spicing, ably accompanying top-quality langoustine medallions. For something a little different, look out for dishes like the cep ice cream dessert." - Michelin Inspector

Nice little restaurant serving up interesting dishes. We had a prefix menu, and I don't know if they normally have prefix menus or not but it wasn't too expensive for what it was. Ingredients were good the planning was nice and the dishes were unusual and unexpected. Apparently we were the first day of the new menu so I was expecting maybe some kinks but everything tasted great. Only complaint was the waiter asked if we wanted to try a new dish they're developing before our dessert course, and it being the first day of the new menu I figured it would be a free treat, but we ended up getting charged full price, and I did not feel the price warranted what was on the plate which was a stick of cheese and a small gooey tartin. Overall it was a good experience and good meal.

Wow, what a great experience this was! We made an eight pm reservation at this very cute little restaurant. They offer a 4 course menu that can be padded with snacks in the beginning and an extra cheese course after the meal. We chose the regular prefixed and ordered a glass of wine each. The wine pour was not very generous at all! We started with a cabbage dish which was amazing with dill and basil flavor. Wow! We were also given homemade sourdough bread with amazing butter. Then came mackerel with cucumber which was also delicious! Then came the roasted chicken breast with white sausage. So, so delicious! The dessert was with camembert ice cream with rhubarb and an extra dessert consisting of a sourdough sponge with blueberries! Wow, both the desserts were amazing! Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend!

Good value set menu, especially for Stockholm. A bit uneven though - the main and dessert were good but the appetizer (a lettuce dish) was very light (almost like a side dish portion) and could be better. Good bread. Based on the other reviews, it seems like it depends on the menu you get. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

I did the set men and got a couple add ones and everything was great. Fresh local ingredients and friendly and knowledgeable staff and the courses are paced well so you don't feel rushed! Also very good pricing for a set menu - I paid a bit more because I got 2 additional course and a glass of wine, but all worth it imo

Unfortunately the biggest let down in a long time. Not sure if it's down to the new menu (we were there the second day since the change) but the execution was poor for three of the five dishes we had. The first two had gone cold by the time they reached the table, and the third was barely warmer than the room. The plate being warmer than the food on it isn't a great experience. The cheese that came alongside the extra tartin is probably the only taste I'll take with me from the night, which is such a disappointment when looking at reviews from previous iterations of the menu. I hope they'll reevaluate the new menu and improve/move on from it, as I find it hard to believe that the experience we had is at par with anything I'm reading about from earlier.

Interesting tasting menu...service was attentive until the end as the tables started to fill up and the limited number of staff spread a little too thin. Still worth a try especially for the price.

Excellent restaurant, wow!! The food way exceeded our expectations and their homemade juice pairing as a non-alcoholic option was such a beautiful and delicious touch. Staff was extremely nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I am a bit confused about other reviews complaining about portion sizes because they were just right if not slightly too big. We were completely stuffed by the end of the meal. Highly recommend!!

We had read about this restaurant in the New York Times travel section and were pleased to get a reservation when we went to Stockholm for our wedding anniversary celebration. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable, Attentive and passionate about the food. .The food is all locally sourced and in season. Everything was delicious. Some of the highlights were the fried seaweed with fresh baby lettuces, a strawberry and blood orange gazpacho, white asparagus, and elderberry flower ice cream. Also, Accommodating to gluten free for those who need it and a gf bread was made with buckwheat flour.

Yelp
I hesitate to write a review for fear of a gem being overrun by Americans, but for foodies here we go. Opened just a couple of months ago by 3 skilled friends, this restaurant, while unassuming and friendly, competes with serious Michelin restaurants with resource and charges far beyond what this threesome has to work with. But rarely have I seen such a love of food and local products shine so brightly. They serve a fixed menu with no other choices for now- but who cares. Their attention to detail and sensibility for combining the best local Swedish product with a hint of Asian influence is so appreciated. With each bite I shook my head in wonder. I mean I really loved everything about this experience. From the fact that much of their working environment was sourced second hand, to their sharing all chores in running the space, to their humble presentation of the food- this is a restaurant that just frankly surprises. I truly hold them in the same regard as Agrikultur and Marv & Ben in Sweden. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Please remember they are 3 men running a restaurant with heart. They aren't a pretentious elevated experience. They have eclectic tastes in music, wear jeans and white T-shirt's to serve, and run back and forth carrying the load of every job in the restaurant. It just doesn't matter. If I lived here I would eat here every week. Please don't pollute the reviews with unrealistic expectations that negate the commitment to the food. I am in love. Thanks for the experience.
