"Bustling downtown self-pour beer and sports bar Public House will bring back its annual 'Tap O’ the Morn' St. Patrick’s Day party Saturday. Green thematic menu items include a 'Shamrocked Cake Shake,' green 'Paddy Cakes' pancakes, and 'Lucky Charm' shots, available all month long." - Naomi Waxman

"The food at Public House in River North isn’t anything you’re going to change your schedule around. But it’s solid (they have great nachos, mac and cheese, and basically anything else that checks the bar food boxes), and the space is loud, fun, and a good choice for upbeat day drinking. There’s also a separate food menu just for your dog, involving things like a burger patty and special dog-friendly dairy-free ice cream. Just don’t expect him to drive you home - you’ll probably need to find a dog-friendly Uber." - adrian kane

"Famous for desserts in River North, Public House’s shake of the month is the Patty Cake Shake. It’s made with mint chocolate chip ice cream and Guinness. Topped with a slice of rainbow cake, it comes with a glass covered in vanilla buttercream and rolled in Lucky Charms cereal." - Ashok Selvam

The steak tacos are so delicious- great flavor all around! Chicken flatbread was also AMAZING! We had it twice in a row (yesterday and today) so good! Dessert was mediocre- cookies tasted like they were microwaved to warm them up and the ice cream wasn’t great either. Service was very SLOW! Not pictured, I also had “Mary had a lil lambic” and “Break of Don” both were awesome!

Trendy, vibrating place. Cool atmosphere. I liked it very much! The four star because of the food. The food what we get was very good, I loved the fried pickles. The problem was that I wanted to eat meat, but there was no more. Then I asked for pork and there was no more. So, that is the only reason of the four star. Otherwise I would give five.

Very nice bar and restaurant. Just had some apps. Deviled eggs were excellent. Served with a huge piece of bacon on each. Fried pickles, curds and pretzel were very good. Save room for desert. Had the vanilla cake shake and it was outstanding. Parking was easy for lunch and servers were very good.

My coworkers and I went to Public House for happy hour after our conferences. Many beer options on the menu. They even had free tastes. One of my coworkers got the parmesan fries and the Buffalo cauliflower and both were good. Definitely a great place to chill and hang out!

I had the chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, it wasn't out of this world but it was good. Service was friendly and prompt. The highlight of the evening? There cake and Shake. It is definitely a sight to behold. And The Taste was amazing. You can get it with alcohol or not, we ended up getting it without. It was so delicious! I would definitely stop by again.

I went last night with my husband and some friends. The place was too crowded at times, and music was loud when we arrived, and it got louder later. It was good music though! Our server was great, beer was great, food was average. There are very few options for a vegetarian so I asked for mac-n- cheese with roasted jalapenos. It was average. So, if you ask me I would say, yes it is a nice place if you are having fun, go here, have some beer, and go somewhere else for your food. Food was kind of expensive for what they serve. I don't think I will be back, unless my friends want to go there again.

Part of the problem with places like Public House is that they're located in River North, so they take on the meat market vibe that this neighborhood oozes. I went here on a Sunday during a Bears game and the crowd was lively, but an in-house DJ and loud music during commercial breaks seemed like a bit too much. Bartenders were about as attentive as they could be given how busy the place was. Beer selection was fine, but the wings I ordered were a little overcooked. Not terrible, just not great. I'm sure the mood here is a little toned down during weekdays or lunch hours. Good news is, if you're staying at the Kinzie Hotel next door, you get 20% off your bill.

This restaurant has delicious food. Having beer taps on the table is an extremely cool touch. We all enjoyed our entrees.
