"You’ll have an excellent vantage to see the nearby shore from this second-floor perch, whose thatched roof and open-air plan allow the welcome ocean breeze to circulate. Better still, you can enjoy the view alongside a bountiful menu of memorable seafood offerings and tropically inflected cocktails. Shareable starters include puffy gorditas filled with roasted octopus, salsa verde, and melty quesillo, as well as an assortment of vibrant and inventive ceviches and aguachiles. Mains are likewise not boxed in by tradition, with typical Mexican flavors alongside the likes of Provençal butter and horseradish aïoli. With so many options to choose from, decisions can be a challenge, but the friendly staff will be only too happy to steer you in the right direction." - Michelin Inspector

15 Destination-Worthy Restaurants in the Mexican Caribbean | Eater

"Puerto Morelos, a beach town just north of Playa del Carmen, is easy to miss. There’s only one main road in and out, which traverses a mangrove preserve teeming with wildlife like crocodiles, toucans, and jaguars. The must-go spot is Punta Corcho, a Bib Gourmand-recommended seafood restaurant. There, on the second floor of a palapa overlooking the ocean, chef Daniel Ovadía serves dishes like chocolate clams filled with a nutty, creamy, pistachio and coconut broth and veiled with bonito flakes, or a fluorescent red aguachile so commanding that other patrons will stop by your table to take a look. While the seafood comes from local waters, there are international influences, too. The Camarones Cocinados a las Brasas — plump local shrimp, their tails flayed and glazed with hollandaise and a sprinkle of fried chaya — call back to the region’s trade with the Netherlands, while dashi cures the fresh-caught sashimi." - Lee Musho

The food here is simply the best we had during a week split between Cancun and Puerto Morelos. They provided delicious sauces and some free starters, fresh fish sashimi cured in kombu, delicious boquerones from Tulum, and the soft shell crab tacos are incredible. The strawberry crumble with caramel ice cream was rich and full of flavor. We tried several delicious cocktails, and the Kiwi Fashion was unbeatable though the amor eterno was our second favorite. The ambience and views of the town center and beach are wonderful. We're going back tomorrow. 🤌

Everything was simply perfect. Food was amazing and innovative. Service was attentive, smooth and friendly but not overstepping. Atmosphere is really one of the kind in the area and we would absolutely recommend checking out their speakeasy too. The place truly deserves its Michelin recognition. Just go.

Google
All of the locals said to go to Punta Corcho. We made reservations and then found out that is Michelin recommended. All of the food and cocktails were fantastic!! The salads and the appetizers were super fresh and amazing. My wife had the latest lobster tail we have ever seen. I tried the fish and seafood risotto and it was perfect. All of the seafood was cooked perfectly.

Google
My absolute favorite restaurant in Puerto Morelos, and maybe anywhere? The food is super fresh, flavorful, unique. The drinks are fantastic, and everyone who works there is so kind and helpful. We’ve eaten there every night of our vacation.

Google
Punta Corcho was recommended to us when we were exploring the Puerto Morales coastal area so we made a reservation for dinner on our last night in the area, and we were not disappointed. The view was incredible as the sun was setting and we were able to look out over the water. We were pleased with the wine selection and the possible pairings. Our meal started with a refreshing (& unexpected) shrimp soup that was quite delightful. The Rockefeller Oysters were served on hot stones, which I never seen anywhere else and the soft shell crab tacos were as crispy and tasty as we hoped! If you wants a real delight - get the guac!! Best we've had since being in town. Never did we feel rushed to give up our table, our food came out at the same time and there's just the perfect amount of time between courses to enjoy the company, the ambiance and the views. We even loved they allow dogs! We'd gladly return again & highly recommend making a reservation when you're in the area. Getting an Uber is super cheap & easy to do.

Google
Truly was an amazing experience. Staff was so friendly, I had the soft shell crab tacos. Absolutely amazing; drink was strong. 10000/10. Go here if you come to Puerto Morelos :)

Google
Tucked into the fishing village of Puerto Morelos—just 25 minutes south of Cancun—Punta Corcho was a standout meal. Recommended to us by our hotel concierge, Punta Corcho turned out to be the best meal of our trip to Riviera Maya; so much so that we returned for a second round before flying home. It’s a very casual breezy, open-air space with views of the sea just beyond. All the food was really good. The guacamole and ceviche were prepared tableside. Favorites were the soft shell crab tacos, shrimp aguachile, and the octopus gorditas. Everything was beautifully plated.

Yelp
I neglected to give them their proper accolades when we visited two years ago. Such a charming atmosphere, like you discovered a hidden, spectacular private dinner party atop an old weathered building in a tiny fishing town, Punta Corcho combines tier-one Yucatán cuisine with that feeling that you've stumbled onto something special and unknown. Exotic woodsmoke permeates the meats. Chile, hot, rich and smoky, seasoned the sauces. I'm hoping to go back this week and reacquaint myself with their unique and delicious menu.

Yelp
To start, it can be a little tricky finding the place because it's upstairs... if you're walking from the plaza, go around the side and in between vendor shops you will see a narrow staircase that takes you up to Punta Corcho. Once inside, it gives modern seaside vibes. There are ocean views from one side of the restaurant and it has a sexy, dim lit atmosphere at night. We tried MANY of their Michelin star menu items. There wasn't a thing that we didn't like. Everything was great. It's definitely California restaurant pricing, however, it's Michelin rated so that makes sense. Our server was incredibly sweet, though he did seem a bit over worked as he appeared to be the only one that night. With that said, service was a bit slow but on vacation we can move a bit slower anyway. The stand out for us... was the drinks. They were all incredible. We would definitely return.

Yelp
We were in town on vacation and went out for dinner. We looked on Yelp while walking around and find this amazing restaurant. It was perfect right upstairs on the corner overlooking the ocean at sunset. The food was delicious! I had the soft shell crab tacos and OMG!! There cocktails were amazing as well one of the best smoky pineapple margaritas I've ever had. My family all enjoyed their food especially the grilled octopus. Make sure you leave room for dessert. The strawberry crumble was to die for and the chocolate lava cake. Above all the service was impeccable. If you are planning to go you may want to make a reservation. It's small and gets packed. Well worth the $. If we are ever in that area again we will definitely go again.

Yelp
Every year that we visit Puerto Morales we eat at Punta Corcho, it's one my favorite restaurants in the world actually! Unique drinks, a huge menu and attention to detail on everything. Try anything wood grilled, the grill taste is nothing like you have had before..... amazing flavor. I have been here 6 times over the last 5 years and the consistency is also impressive. Must try for seafood, tacos, dinks or pizza. It's hard to find the staircase off the street but once you do you will be in heaven.

Yelp
Pro-tip: the entrance is tucked away between all the vendors on the sidewalk (on the Chedraui side, not the side facing the town square). Gorgeous upstairs place with a beautiful view of the ocean and the town square. It's airy, breezy, and nicely decorated. The food itself is full of complexity and layers of flavor. Everything blends together to create exquisite and unique dishes. For one of the more expensive places in town, this is the one to go to. Dishes are perfectly seasoned. I had the fish filet with esquites and my partner had the soft shell crab tacos. My fish was cooked perfectly - not soggy, not undercooked, drowned in sauce but still edible. They bring you soft and deliciously warm rolls and blue corn hard tortillas before your meal, along with a few different salsas to put on your food as you like. We ordered some drinks as well - the mango summer (I think it was) and the Mai Tai. Both were delicious. Service was very attentive and very friendly; one of the more punctual places we've been to. The only thing I didn't care for is it felt like there weren't many options on the menu, but, again, this is one of the nicer places that is worth the price in PM!!

Yelp
What a good restaurant!!! Located right in the middle of Puerto Morales. The food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. Don't miss this place.

Yelp
A family favorite in Puerto Morelos! Come for the AMAZING lobster pizza, and stay for the fun, original cocktails with the freshest table side guacamole in the Yucatán. We don't typically stray from these staples when we're in town, but why mess with perfection? The restaurant is nestled on the second floor of one of the buildings on the town square, and truthfully, you couldn't ask for a more enjoyable view. Watching the kids play soccer around town, the buzz of the merchants, and the sound of the waves keep us coming back visit after visit.

Yelp
Superb in every respect. Service was spot on and food was unique and just plain delicious. The "cooked"ceviche was prepared at table side and was oh sooo good. Definitely go here for a wonderful and if in the mood a romantic experience.

Yelp
Stopped on for a late lunch just after we got into Mexico. We had a ceviche and a mixed ceviche. The flavors and presentation was very nice. We also tried the mezcaleño cocktail and really enjoyed it. We had seats overlooking the square which was busy with vendors setting up for tonight's events on the plaza. Definitely would come back!

Yelp
Selection plus service plus taste. Delicious and lots to choose from. Light to full meals

Yelp
Excellent service. Delicious meal. The cocktails are awesome. Had the Cosmo and a Dark and Stormy.

Yelp
We stayed at a nearby resort which touted a gourmet five star menu. While their food was good, it didn't even compare to the mouth watering delights at Punta Corcho. We were looking for a spot for dinner nearby because we couldn't get a reservation at the resort for that evening. Everyone was starving so we drove to the closest small town and parked the car. We liked the open air look of Punta Corcho and the thatched roof. We had no idea what awaited! We were served shrimp soup as a started which was out of this world savory. The kids ordered the Chichen to drink and they were amazed! Everything here was well above five stars but that's as high as yelp goes! If you're in the area this hidden gem is a MUST EAT! The service here was excellent and the menu was in Spanish and English. Our server also spoke perfect English which was helpful since my Spanish is not quite up to par and the rest of our party are English only speakers (we're working on it!). And there was live entertainment!

Yelp
Food, service, and atmosphere were all great! Love the outdoor dining. Make sure to save room for the chocolate molten cake. It's to die for!

Yelp
My family and I are on vacation and several locals recommended this place. Thank you to the locals for the recommendation it was not disappointing. The food was delicious! My family and I ordered different plates and shared. Each plate tasted great. Highly recommend the spaghetti shrimp plate.

Yelp
3 stars. Come for the sea breeze, stay for the drinks. Then, go eat elsewhere. The restaurant is beautiful and has an incredible view, but we didn't find the food to be as spectacular. We ordered table side guacamole, but they just brought out a big bowl. No table side prep. Kinda disappointing. Complimentary items: soup & bread They bring a small seafood soup to cleanse your palate. It's phenomenal!!!!!! Tastes like gumbo. The bread is perfect for dipping in the soup or the chili oil. The blue corn tortillas lacked crunch and tasted stale. Lobster pizza is okay. It's super cheesy. WoodFired tacos - tasty Enjoy your Vacation!!!

Yelp
This is by far the best find we have found so far. The food and location is fantastic. Old school wood fired oven was the center point for me. As a BBQ guy the real smoked flavors show time and quality are top priority. We have dined at Punta Corcho twice now and a third was only put off by trying new places. The location is perfect as it borders the center square that kids and family's play outside. Do yourself a favor and put this on your must try list.

Yelp
We came here from Facebook recommendations and we are so glad we came here! What can I say that hasn't already been said, haha. What a great view, great local beers and DELICIOUS CEVICHES!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the octopus with green sauce and I'd almost pay double for this. My wife got the fish ceviche and it's just as tasty. They brought over some salsas and guacamole and I'm just in heaven! Now for the trip info, we walked about an hour on the beach from our resort, but this was worth it.
google avatar

Carolina S.

Yelp
I feel like we're on a roll with good restaurants!!! These are some of the best fish tacos I've ever had ( chicharrón ) they were packed full of flavor, fresh and just overall delicious! We ordered our little kids cheese pizza and it was so crunchy and cheesy and melty, we ended up eating a ton of it ourselves. The surf and turf was spectacular , the lobster was absolutely mouth watering Ali g with the steak. My belly was so full and happy, but I ate it all just because it was so good! To top it all off our server was so nice, so attentive and great at recommending items off the menu! Definitely a great place with or without kids!

Yelp
If you want great seafood, this is the place to eat. The seafood is fresh and the portions are generous. The seafood here is always fresh and there is a great variety to choose from. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great seafood dining experience.

Yelp
Excellent healthy seafood and excellent service! Gorgeous sea view is a great plus. Favorite restaurant in Puerto Morelos

Yelp
Great spot in PM! Called to make a reservation for the next evening - my bf specifically requested a seat on the edge of the patio towards the water and we had a great view of the ocean and setting sun. Friendly service and large portions. Lots of interesting cocktails that were very tasty. We had the seafood pizza which was absolutely heaping with seafood, and had great crust. Also had a type of Mediterranean ceviche which was mixed seafood on a bed of hummus and tahini - very unique and again, huge portion. Pricier than other restaurants in the area but also more upscale food - I think it was worth it.
google avatar

Adriana M.

Yelp
Service was really good but be aware of the prices and food. The plates average is $30 dollars and the food it's not good. I was very disappointed. This is my second time there and I always like to try a restaurant twice before giving my honest opinion. The waiter recommended a ceviche with shrimp and octopus. Usually a $25 usa dollars which is highly expensive for Mexico. This specific plane was so awful I could not even eat it. Usually I'm used to a good ceviche and have tried several from Peru so when they called this a ceviche with hummus I was a little confused. There a so many great restaurants there that I would not spend my money here. I also order a cheese pizza for the kids again expect to pay at least 25 usa dollars but it was not worth it. Ambiance was ok, not a lot of people there. But ok.

Yelp
Although seating is limited, we're glad we waited. We ended up dining here two nights as our ravings encouraged others to join us. The tacos Al pastor were excellent! The grilled octopus was a winner and the pasta was great. Add to the food, the well made beverages and you've got another fine place for dinner!

Yelp
Wet good atmosphere and ambience. Food is a touch pricey but good quality. Service excellent. The Mariachi band superb

Yelp
I admit I hesitate to go to restaurants on the main square because they can be more touristy than quality, but the reviews here peaked my interest. All I can say is this exceeded my expectations- and I'm a foodie. The free shrimp broth appetizer was delicious and they serve the best bread I've had in Mexico. The bone marrow and shrimp appetizer is AMAZING. If you want a rich and delicious starter I'd highly recommend it. (Our waitress suggested it and she was right!) For mains we had the risotto and the fish filet with yellow mole sauce. Both were excellent. The drinks are big, strong and tasty. I could only handle one! It's a big menu and if we had more time I'd definitely go back. It's also a pleasant atmosphere with a view of the water and the plaza. 5 stars and 10 yums!

Yelp
This second floor gem boasts a view of the pier and amazing seafood dishes. We visited twice getting to sneak up what feels like a secret staircase entrance. Delicious cocktails - we tried most of the mezcal menu - especially loving the pinapple smoke that arrives in a steamy box. Guac is made table side and all the ceviches have bold flavors and generous portions. We came with a party of 8 and ordered the whole grouper special which paired with a couple of orders of ceviche fed us all. Some of us ordered mezcal flights which were a fun way to try some options. Also have to shout out the crispy fish tacos! Yum!
google avatar

Kelley C.

Yelp
The food at Punta Corcho is fantastic! The menu is unique with many specialty dishes. We started with guacamole, octopus ceviche, and grilled octopus with beef. All three dishes were amazing. For dinner we had the pork carnitas tacos, fish tacos, tomahawk steak, and oven fired grouper. The grouper had a lovely fired taste and was accompanied by red cabbage salad and avocado. The steak was also delicious and cooked perfectly. The tacos were also a wonderful combination of meat and slaw. The restaurant has a wonderful wine and cocktail list. Many of the cocktails are unique. The service was great! We were not rushed and were given ample time between courses. I would recommend making a reservation as they are very popular with locals and tourists. We will be back next time we visit Puerto Morelos!!
google avatar

Ricardo V.

Yelp
This place is really good and good prices. We had the lobster rolls, lobster pizza and octopus gorditas and it was all really good especially the lobster pizza its a must in this place. If you're ever in Puerto Morelos you need to try this place.
google avatar

Shirley C.

Yelp
This is the fourth time we have come to this restaurant and we ordered the lobster pizza to share which was delicious and thin crust. I ordered the whole grilled fish in a firewood oven, we also had the fish of the day which was red snapper also whole and grilled in a wood fire oven, last but not least we also ordered lobster tagliatelle. Everything was delish and perfectly cooked. The only suggestion I have is the cream sauce for the pasta is a little thin and tastes like milk. It needs something more! Be forewarned, the fresh baked rolls are addictive, the habenero sauce, the thick green one, it's evil! The heat will sneak up on you and burn your mouth, tongue, lips, basically anything you touch with it!! All you need is half a pea size drop, then go from there, best to spread it around. If you like your libations, this place has an extensive drink menu, not wine or hard liquor but the fun stuff plus some beers. So whatcha waiting for? Go to Morelos and check this place out, the servers are excellent and funny too! I just noticed my earlier post below! Yeah it's that good I even had the same thing!!

Yelp
This place has the best coffee in town, mellow vibe. Good prices. This is where Canadian expats come for a kiss on the cheek in the morning

Yelp
If you don't go here while in town you are missing out. Unbelievably great food and the prices are a value. The blue corn octopus Gordita's are to die for. The surf and turf was amazing. Highly recommend

Yelp
Really enjoyed this upper patio type restaurant. The ambiance was nice and it was nicely decorated. The food was good, but I had the seafood risotto and it was almost overly buttery. Tasty, but I could only handle so much of the flavor. My parents each had a lobster tail, which didn't come with much for a side. They said it came with rice and a salad, but the salad was a few measely little greens. When asked what the whole wood fired fish was that day it was cat fish, which isn't what seemed to be portrayed in the menu or on any of the other yelp photos. It was took a long time to get the food. However, I did love the location and their drinks were d

Yelp
The food was amazing. I had barbecue shrimp as an appetizer. This was the most flavorful shrimp I've ever eaten. My entree was a lobster pizza. I actually ate the entire pizza. My partner had a shrimp pasta. It was very flavorful and memorable. This restaurant will be our yearly tradition while on vacation.
google avatar

Freddy M.

Yelp
Possibly the best spot in town. Had the Rockefeller. On point. Had the surf and turf. Decent medium sized tail but they don't butterfly it so it looks like a big shrimp. Not bad for Carribean lobster. Filet was good too. They also gave us some complimentary stuff.
google avatar

Kalumok C.

Yelp
Great meals and a great view in Puerto Morelos ! Great service ! Delicious menu! We had ceviche and the Gorditas were delicious and filling. I had their "marihuana" cocktail which was refreshing !

Heather B.

Yelp
Had an AMAZING dinner here not once, but twice this week. Our new favorite! Everything we tried was fabulous! and the view is fanatic from the 2nd level. The lobster was the best I've ever had - cooked In garlic butter on wood oven grill. Went the 1st night and got lobster only for dinner and my husband got surf and turf (steak and shrimp). The manager brought us champagne and the strawberry crumble for dessert on the house for Mother's Day. There was a gentleman singing and saxophone player for live music. Just a perfect night. We went back a few days later with a group of friends. The singer was back - awesome! Between 5 people, we had raw oysters with a pear pico on top, oyster Rockefeller, gorditos and guacamole for appetizers. Dinners were surf & turf, lobster and shrimp meal, a whole wood fired fish, fettuccine noodles with a garlic sauce topped with lobster, shrimp, and clams. Has the chocolate molten cake and strawberry dessert again. Folks, don't miss this restaurant if you are close to Puerto Morales!

Yelp
It's OK, nothing to write home about however. Too pricey for what you get, quality is fair but not especially great.

Graeme W.

Yelp
Great location and views with plenty of fresh air. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The place was packed so the service was a little slow, but equally you were not being rushed. Food was very good, particularly the seafood in coconut. A little pricey but still good value and everything was made fresh. I had the fillet with potatoes and tomatoes and not really to my liking as it was a bit smoked, but that was more about my taste than the quality of the food.

Izzy B.

Yelp
Amazing! Rolls, chips and variety of salsas on the house, and absolutely amazing octopus + shrimp pizza, as well as carnitas tacos.

Claudia S.

Yelp
Ambiance is número uno. Took two folks for their birthdays here. Great menu with a charming environment. Their seafood is tasty and fresh.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, superb service... and food was amazing. I ordered the whole fish, it was tender and full of flavor. Garlic, butter... spices and cooked to perfection. Oysters Rockefeller - tasty too. Great weather and the patio is open and on the second floor so you can see all around.
google avatar

Remeca A.

Yelp
Staff = 5 Stars! Food was better than most restaurants I've tried in Puerto Morales. The tacos are really yummy and the wood grill lobster was delicious. I wasn't too much of a fan of the coconut seafood stew, nor the lobster pizza. I gave it a 4 because thought the food was decent it didn't blow me away.
google avatar

Colby P.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. The atmosphere and decorations are delightful and the service and excellent. The food blew my mind - inventive, delicious, artfully presented. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Yelp
Had a lot of high hopes for this place and it delivered. Food was delish and presentation of everything was spot on. We started with the lobster pizza and guacamole. Amazing! Huge chunks of lobster and plenty of them. Main courses -whole fish and octopus mole. Excellent taste on both and never seen such a big portion of octopus. Highly recommend while in Morelos. Killer drinks too!!

Yelp
Outstanding food and service with a beautiful view! Good cocktails as well! If you want to treat yourself and your family - this is a must in PM.
