As my husband said halfway through, "This is the meal in Barcelona that we've been looking for." Not that we hadn't liked the food so far - we had - but we hadn't been impressed with every aspect of a dining experience until Pur. For anyone in Barcelona, my one recommendation will be to eat here.
We had reservations on a Sunday night, but there were open tables around us. They waitress said it's much busier other nights of the week. The service was excellent, the round, cushioned table cozy, and the open kitchen entertaining.
Cocktails from their sister bar, Impur, were incredibly reasonable (7€), and from what the hubs said, delicious (babymooning, so I stuck with a half glass of red from a local winery). And the food - oh my goodness.
We agreed this was one of the best meals we've ever had, abroad or in NYC. The don't misses: a white asparagus special that was more tender than we thought possible, the Mallorcan sausage with honeycomb (unreal), the veal filet and mashed potatoes. The grilled lettuce hearts were also done perfectly, and while we both enjoyed the sweet, salt-crusted shrimp, we felt they weren't special enough to warrant the price for the small amount of relatively common food.
The flan with house-whipped cream was a lovely end to our meal, and we left very full and very happy.
