"Authenticity and tradition are paramount in this little sushiya. From the moment you walk in, to the rapid succession of courses that follow, everything in this dining room seems steeped in a sense of calm. Chef Hiroyuki Naruke prepares every item and thoughtfully serves each diner. Edomae-style sushi arrives as an omakase of fish, while other courses may commence with sashimi and nigiri. Case in point—amberjack sashimi with onions and soy, where each morsel is sliced, seasoned and set before your eye. This may be tailed by nigiri such as Hokkaido scallops, kohada, and fatty tuna. The pleasure of dining here extends right to end with the simple, spongy, and fluffy block of tamago." - Michelin Inspector

The Best Sushi On The Eastside And Downtown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a throw-down sushi experience Downtown, Q Sushi is where to go. On a busy stretch of 7th St., the windowless room is quiet, calm, and very fancy. There are a few tables up front, but you’re going to want to sit at the 10-seat bar where you get to watch one guy make your whole meal. There are only two seatings per night, and you can choose from either a $165 option or a $200 option. If you’d like to try an even more premium menu, give 48 hours advance notice and see what they come up with." - brant cox, brett keating

The Downtown LA Dinner Guide - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Q Sushi is a very traditional omakase spot on 7th St. in a windowless, but very calm room. You’ll find fish that’s flown in from Japan daily, businessmen sitting at the bar drinking sake, and a single sushi chef who’ll hand you every cut of fish himself. It’s expensive - you’ll pay $165 for 19 courses of sushi - and doesn’t involve anything particularly unusual, but this is simple sushi done at the highest level. Q is a nice spot for a fancy night out, especially if you’ve made it your personal goal to try every good sushi place in Los Angeles." - jess basser sanders, brant cox

Google
I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. Seriously the best fish in town. No other place in our Conejo community even compares. Not too mention great ambiance, great service, and a wonderful hands on owner, Binh, who genuinely cares about your full satisfied experience. But we are all here for the sushi and again nothing else comes close to comparing in terms of quality. They are switching up what fish is in based on what's in season. If you want the full experience, try the omakase. Best in town! Thankful for this gem.

Google
Pretty much everything I’ve gotten here is fabulous. The spicy tuna on crispy rice is fantastic, but the guacamole on crispy rice is even better. King Hoang roll was my favorite roll followed by the fire goddess. This is my new favorite sushi place in the TO/Westlake Village area.

Google
This place was recommended to me and so glad I got to experience it. Food is amazing/delicious, creative drinks, and service is fantastic! Took some pics....happy hour specials and 1 regular dinner sushi roll. Everything was so good. Can't wait to go back! Happy hour: Nigiri, spicy tuna over forbidden rice (sorry took a bite before pic) and pork ribs. Main roll was the Brussels roll 😋

Q Sushi is a must-try! From the moment you walk in, the sleek ambiance and friendly service set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The sushi is insanely fresh, with melt-in-your-mouth sashimi and inventive rolls that burst with flavor. The chef's special creations are a true highlight. If you're craving top-notch sushi, Q Sushi is the place to be! @sushitraveler

My family and I enjoyed our dinner. We ordered several specials, drinks and deserts, all were delicious! The presentation was nice and great portions. The service is prompt and staff is friendly. They have nice outside seating.

Google
Love this place for when I really want to treat my family to something special. I had Spanish mackerel sushi which was was smooth and buttery. The waitress suggested the banh-something roll and I was quite pleased with the flavor... the spicy little kick at the end was good and not too spicy. The only hiccup was that the waitress forgot to put my mom's order in, so unfortunately it came much later, but I'm still eating it a 5 stars because the manager took care of it right away and the waitress did a great job otherwise, from answering all our questions, seeming very knowledgeable, and asking if we were there for a special occasion; it was my son's birthday and the free mochi dessert was a lovely touch 😀

[Im leaving my original review below for "historic" purposes but thought I'd update: The bartender, Eric, has left Q. Im not impressed with replacements. Their mixing is fine, but lacking Eric's personality and finesse. Also, the Happy Hour menu has become much less attractive: same items, less care and quality. Also, clientelle has become more snobby - not the restaurant's fault but nevertheless - reeks of entitlement]. ---- Yes, the happy hour and sushi here are well worth the visit, but what I really want to highlight is Eric, the bartender, who masterfully balances the limited but wonderfully crafted cocktail selections. The Cucumber Seji Smash is PERFECT for a hot summer day, the Scorched Orange is AWESOME for the colder months, and this pictured here, is his artisan creation, the Desert Rose (between salmon sashimi and nigori saki - love the traditional earthenware serving carafe):

As soon as you walk through the doors, you can see, hear, and smell the love that goes into this restaurant. It is clear the restaurant is a labor of love. The dishes have stories behind them that enhance the entire dining experience. The servers put in just as much care to bringing your food to the table as the chefs do when putting the food on your plate. The drinks we were recommended by our server and paired perfectly with the meal. I have had a lot of good (and bad) sushi throughout my years on this planet and I can honestly say that I have never tasted better sushi anywhere else. I highly recommend Q Sushi. It’s been a few weeks and my wife and I can’t stop thinking about our meal and the next time we go. We have since raced to our friends and family and those who listened, tried Q Sushi for themselves and were just as delighted with their dining experience as well. 11 out of 10 (because 11 is one higher than 10).

Yelp
The udon noodles are the best thing on the menu!!!! Hands down! Service is good. The ambiance is amazing. This restaurant design belongs in LA so beautiful all the fixtures and features catch your eye, well designed.

Yelp
The food isn't bad, but it's nothing special. Sushi is very mediocre compared to somewhere like Sea Butter or SUGARFISH in my opinion. The quality of the fish might not seem like you're dining in Westlake but the price definitely will! They charge $14-$18 for basic Nigiri that is $7-$9 at competitors like Sea Butter or SUGARFISH, yet the fish here is lower quality. Similar pricing/quality on other items as well. Service was attentive. Bar has a good selection. This place really just falls short when it comes to the sushi for me. If you're going for the atmosphere, aren't an experienced sushi eater and don't care about sushi prices being around double relative to competitors, this place might work for you. Personally, if I'm in the mood for sushi, I'd rather pay less and still get higher quality fish at one of the other sushi spots I mentioned above that are 5-15 minutes away.

Yelp
Location 5: Upscale restaurant in Westlake, CA. Parking: 5: Plenty of self-parking in a large shopping plaza. Venue: 5: Nicely decorated, modern and comfortable. Good size, separate, drink and sushi bars as well as many tables and booths. Smaller outdoor seating. It gets pretty packed on weekends. They do take reservations on Yelp, which while highly recommended may not eliminate the wait and just make it shorter. Food: 4: First off, their fish is very fresh. Great, high quality and unique selections, with creative and tasty preparations. Excellent top-notch high-quality nigiri, sashimi, maki (cut rolls) and temaki (hand rolls). Extensive list of creative and flavorful specialty rolls and appetizers. Drinks: 4: Full bar and creative, tasty specialty cocktails. Beer, sake and wine. Service: 4: Servers are super polite, super friendly and super attentive. Prices: 3: Food and drinks are more pricey than similar establishments :( The Last Word 4: Solid, upscale option for a nice, quality lunch or dinner outing. Great ambiance, food and drinks. It can be a bit of a special treat though due to its higher prices. Still, highly recommended!

Yelp
We came here for dinner tonight and it was delicious! Food was great, service was excellent and the ambiance was very romantic and calming! Had a great time!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal at Q Sushi and appreciated the quality of the food. My favorite dish was the miso cauliflower as it was incredibly packed with flavor and complexity. For a vegetable starter, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the cauliflower was prepared! The American wagyu robata skewer came with a crispy garlic topping and was served perfectly medium rare, which was another favorite dish of the night. We also enjoyed speciality rolls and had a simple salmon roll prepared. I am knocking a star down because we paid $20 for a simple cut roll which caught us off guard, and we had a corner table that was crammed next to the reception area and bar, so it was not the best location to feel relaxed during date night.

Yelp
Finally made it to Q Sushi, a place my friends had been hyping up for quite some time. I can't tell you what nigiris I ate, but what I can say is that all of them were incredible! The quality of the fish was amazing, and the mix of flavors was perfection along with the beautiful presentation. Loved that there wasn't too much rice and it was proportionate to the sashimi on top. Service was also at a steady pace which I appreciated and all of the staff were warm and friendly.

Yelp
Sushi is always fabulous and the service is excellent. My favorite is the King Hoang.

Yelp
Steph was an amazing server! Came in for my birthday and she was so sweet and energetic. Made amazing suggestions and took them all, was not disappointed. Definitely recommend coming in, and I will be back. Thank you Steph !

Yelp
Sushi was deliciously fresh. Service was great and friendly. We were seated right away at the cocktail bar because the sushi bar was a longer wait and the tables were even longer. So they have plenty of options to sit at. Parking is very easy in the plaza.

Joni M.

Yelp
The sushi is VERY fresh! High quality tuna and yellowtail! I WISH they'd consider opening for lunch again.

Yelp
First restaurant my fiance and I decided to try in the area and it is definitely on the higher scaled end. From the waiting area it didn't look like much tbh but when you get into the actual restaurant, it has quite the ambiance. It has both a drinks bar and sushi bar with high ceilings and a second floor. Service was great and there were plenty of food options. We ended up trying the crispy rice, spicy shrimp, king Hoang roll and the assorted sashimi. A little underwhelmed with the portion sizes but the quality was good. Be prepared to spend for not that much food. Will come back and try their cocktails next time

Lindy W.

Yelp
Amazing as always! The service is next level. Definitely make sure to try the NEW Yuzu drop! It was delicious!

Yelp
Service was okay waiter took awhile to get us soy sauce after our food came, and sushi chef was pretty out of order when putting out food our party of 5 all got our dishes except one person it took about 10-15 minutes after we got ours for hers to come while the sushi chef was putting out whole orders for other tables. The ambiance is okay just a casual place nothing special and sushi was pretty expensive compared to other locations in the area. Food was good not great but would recommend for a quick bite

Yelp
Love this place. Great sushi and wine. Very good service and location is properly lighting and designed. If you are on a budge, this is not your spot lol. If you want great sushi, this is the spot. See ya soon.

Yelp
This is probably the only sushi place that is comparable to Nobu in Malibu in my opinion. The inside of this restaurant was not what I expected at all. A mix of modern meets farmhouse meets Japan. The lychee martini was sooo yummy. I would recommend getting the sashimi plate to start, the micro greens and sauce paired perfect with the yellowtail. You cannot go wrong with the poke roll - such a fun twist on poke and a signature roll. All of our sushi was fresh and felt like it was made to order. My one request is to please bring back the lunch special!

Chloe B.

Yelp
We went to Q Sushi to enjoy a nice dinner with family and friends. The sushi was awful, not fresh and nothing tasted like it was just made. Our waitress was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was empty. The only thing we can compliment was the bar tender made a good martini. When we got up after we paid the check. All the staff were all cheering I am guessing it's because they couldn't wait to close and go home. The door was locked on us soon as we walked out. It was an awful experience and never going back there again.

Yelp
Terrible service from the minute we walked in to the food being wrong. The waitress with the big glasses she's super sweet and nice, but the guy who sat us has an attitude like no other. Then our food arrived incorrect, took so long to get our food, just over all terrible service tonight.

Yelp
We went here for a birthday celebration and the sushi was extremely fresh & tasty. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I've been to a few highest sushi places lately. I have to say this is my absolute favorite. It's the first one that didn't disappoint. I feel like the quality of the food cannot be matched and while yes, it's a little pricey. It's absolutely worth it for what you're getting I tried this is meat platter and my favorite fish on there was absolutely the salmon. It was certainly the best thing I've had in a very long time. I also got the tuna pizza which was surprisingly amazing. It really was like a pizza and then they had this little turkey baster full of spicy wasabi, which was super fun, I also got a roll which I had to say was good not amazing just because it was heavy on the seaweed for me. My personal preference. and I also got the taco sampler and they were also delicious. One taco was a bit citrusy for my husband, but I really enjoyed it and the salmon one again was my favorite. Service was perfect who came out so quickly all of my sushi came out at once and I would've preferred to have come at one at a time so that it could be the freshest when I eat it, but that was probably my mistake for ordering everything at the same time The ambience was beautiful, but I have to say it was a bit modern for my taste and sort of Americanized for a Japanese restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best sushi spots I have been to. The place looks amazing, the atmosphere is really nice. The service is great. I have been there many times and the food and service is always great.

Sandra L R.

Yelp
Sushi is unique and delicious! I would recommend this place to friends and family! Employees are friendly and attentive.

Yelp
This is our FAVORITE sushi restaurant around! The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the owner is the best! Definitely come here for fabulous food!

Yelp
The happy hour here has some really delicious specialty items and everything is exceptionally well priced. Service was friendly, we sat at the bar area on the corner near the front door. Very cool ambiance, I loved the textured style accent of the walls. There was an ample amount of parking in the lot outside. My friend and I enjoyed the brussel sprout appetizer, the green mussels, and two specialty rolls from the happy hour menu. We showed up at about ten minutes before it was over and the team graciously honored the happy hour prices for us. It was quiet enough in our seating area that we were able to talk and we had a lot of fun trying the different rolls and appetizers. Our favorite was the salmon lover roll, which had very fresh and delicious salmon and a really good taste profile. The brussel sprouts were crispy and flavorful but not overdone. The orange sauce on the mussels was tasty and we fell in love with the homecooked style crispy onions on top of the moto roll. One of the best overall experiences I've had dining out in some time.
google avatar

Yelp
You won't get in without a reservation. But you really want to get in! Food is amazing. Ambiance is chic. Prices are high...but portions are reasonable and well worth it.
google avatar

Elenna T.

Yelp
Q Sushi has it all, beautiful restaurant, good service and yummy food. I had the nigiri and it was delicious.

Margaret A.

Yelp
Love the menu. Good for people who don't frequently eat sushi. Even a few selections of mocktails for nondrinkers. We got a great corner booth. Was able to make a reservation which a lot of places don't allow. The lobby area is small - might have to stand outside till your table is ready though we didn't. The food was good. The services was excellent! The hostesses but especially the waiter. He seemed to really want us to have a great dining experience- sounds corny - but that came across. Super friendly, didn't rush us though it was crowded. Busboys were also good and kept a good eye on us. Would go back for sure!

Roswitha M.

Yelp
This was our first time eating at this restaurant and were slightly dubious when we walked in. However, the ambiance was amazing as was the food and the service. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will go back when in the area again.

Yelp
I wanted to take my good friend who is not from CA out to a nice dinner. The vibe and service is great but the sushi is not my fave.
google avatar

Ron W.

Yelp
Very good. Not exceptional and kind of expensive but still very worth it. Better than driving down to LA to other sushi places.

Sandra G.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. The food was greasy and cold. No service. No one clean the table of used finished dishes. We are not going back!

Maimuna P.

Yelp
I took my friend out for her birthday here and I have to say it was our most unpleasant experience. Beginning with the waitress who didn't even have a smile while taking our orders, was not very courteous. We ordered the edamame, hamachi sushi and fire goddess sushi. For the edamame, half were piping hot and the other half were ice cold! We told them and they took it back to bring which was exactly the same. And above all that, the edamame did not look fresh at all! I felt sick after eating it. The fire goddess sushi, was supposed to be a spicy tuna with some sauce. It had nothing. It had absolutely no flavor. It was totally bland. I would not come to this place again.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent, creative rolls and great service; wish we lived closer! Please open a branch in Central Oregon!

Yelp

Yelp
5/5 any day except when they're closed. Not cheap, excellent value!!! Magical experience!!! Friendly! Fresh! Original! Fun! Beautiful ambiance!!!
google avatar

Vlad B.

Yelp
Some of the food was good and ambiance was okay, I like the dim lighting in certain sections, but I don't understand why they serve $6 miso soup in cheap plastic bowls that reek of plastic, ruins the flavor of the soup. Then they charge like $38 for 4 little pieces of food, my date said the $9 starter tasted better. Plus they kept coming by and trying to grab the same plate that I had just told them I was still eating, interrupting conversation, I was very disappointed. Simultaneously the most expensive and worst sushi place I've been to.
google avatar

Alexander E.

Yelp
Best around the area by far. As a local who's tried every other place around, I can confidently say this. Don't go anywhere else!!!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Beyond awful. The worst restaurant I've ever eaten in, by far. This is not an upscale dining experience. Q Sushi is more like PF Chang's, but with even worse food. The first red flag happened at the hostess stand. After arriving on time for our reservation, the hostess told us that our table was ready but there was another reservation after us at that same table, so we would need to finish our dinner in an hour and a half. What!!?? In my decades of dining all over the world, I have never been told that I had a deadline to finish eating. If it had not been my daughter's 13th birthday and she had requested to try this restaurant, I would have turned around and walked our family right out the door. Unfortunately, we gave it a shot. Once we were seated, things only got worse. The food was garbage. Our salads were soaked in oil. EVERY sushi dish we ordered was drowning in thick, mayonnaise-based sauces that is a tell-tale sign that the fish is not fresh. My over-priced Chilean seabass had the consistency of pudding and was COVERED in mayo-sauce. My wife ordered a hand roll that had a plastic tube of extra oil sticking out of it that evidently you were supposed to squeeze into the roll, as if it needed any more oil. It looked like a tampon applicator. We actually laughed out loud. What a gross, ridiculous concept. Don't be fooled ... there is absolutely nothing Japanese about this place and its "sushi." The service was mediocre, at best. No waters were offered or served. Drinks we ordered never showed up. Our server had very little personality and put forth no effort to elevate our experience. We've had far more professional service at much cheaper restaurants. As for ambience, I'm not sure why anyone would be impressed with Q Sushi. The open kitchen is too chaotic and resembles a cheap, Waffle House vibe more than the "upscale dining experience" advertised on its website. Considering most of the patrons were wearing clothes more suited to eating at Applebee's, we felt way overdressed for the place. There was an empty table next to us with dirty plates, a bottle of cleaning spray and a rag left on it. The only thing fine dining about this place are the prices. The cherry on top happened after we paid our bill. As we were about to leave, the hostess walked up to "remind" us that our table was needed in 10 minutes. Trust me ... we couldn't get out of Q Sushi fast enough!
google avatar

Ken F.

Yelp
food and service were both excellent, we have been here four or five times, our waiter Jose was very courteous, even was able to move our table after they had set everything up and was super cool about it. Service 5. food 4.5. We will be back
google avatar

Katherine H.

Yelp
Great food and service They also have an awesome happy hour !! I loved the salmon salad . They have the best Albacore with crispy onion sushi

Nicole J.

Yelp
excellent food and great service! The owner, Binh, is gracious and kind checking on all his guests throughout the evening. Definitely a must go to sushi restaurant!
google avatar

Sal R.

Yelp
Sushi is great, and so is the ambiance when dining in. Just never do take out! With my busy schedule, I don't always have time to dine in. I will order sporadically from this place because is so close to home. However, the take out service is disappointing. This has been my experience at least for the last 6 visits. I just wish that they would stay on top of their take out orders, considering that the food comes at a premium.
google avatar

Neda F.

Yelp
I didn't know before coming, but they have happy hour until 6pm. Various drinks and some foods are offered at a slightly discounted price. I posted a photo of their happy hour menu. We ordered the following: Avocado rolls: you can't go wrong. This is favored by my kids, and there were no complaints. Salmon Caviar Carpaccio: it was absolutely delightful. My go-to sashimi isn't usually salmon, but this sounded so good on the menu I had to give it a try. It did not disappoint. There was a citrus yuzu sauce, and the cream atop the fish with the salty caviar was all such a delicious bite. Brussel Sprouts: they were flaky, slightly spicy, a touch of sweet and perfectly crispy. Ribeye Skewer: this was mediocre. It needed a sauce or some seasoning. It was lacking in any flavor other than the taste of the grill. Green Tea Churros: the churros were fluffy, delicious and warm. I do wish that there was a bigger portion of the caramel ice cream included, as that was quite small. It was an overall unique and delicious dessert. I did not taste the green tea. But I did taste the traditional sugar and cinnamon mixture.
