4 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles: November 21 | Eater LA

"When I’m in search of coffee and a place to hang for a while, I head to the recently opened Quat, a stunning and expansive compound from AJ Kim and Scott Sohn that they began envisioning back when they opened Highland Park’s original Kumquat Coffee in 2018, with an Apple headquarters–tinged campus feel. Walking through the entryway leads into an outdoor area perfect for socializing, working, or simply sipping, and the team prepares some of the best coffee and tea. I order standard coffee drinks as well as mashup inventions inspired by favorites at Kumquat and Loquat — the Claude Cooler (oolong, green plum extract, pea flower tea) and the Copenhagen (espresso, spiced apple cider syrup, mascarpone foam, cardamom, cinnamon) — then peer through the floor-to-ceiling windows to glimpse the bean roasting process. I can buy beans, sit in the sun (hopefully), and enjoy the vision from this innovative team dedicated to expanding coffee culture in Southern California." - Eater Staff

Quat - Review - Glassell Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The people behindKumquat,Loquat, andFondry(three places that always seem to have a crowd) have opened their largest space yet. Quat Coffee in Glassell Park looks like a tech startup headquarters with distinct departments. The cafe section serves drinks like the Claud Cooler with oolong tea, green plum extract, and butterfly tea flower, and The Copenhagen with espresso and spiced cider syrup. There’s also a retail shop, roasting room, and a “coffee omakase” bar called Atelier Q opening soon." - Cathy Park

Cult-Favorite Kumquat Opens an Ambitious Coffee Compound in Glassell Park | Eater LA

"In early October, a quietly launched, expansive cafe–roastery–tasting-room compound on Dolores Street in Glassell Park realized AJ Kim and Scott Sohn’s long-planned, Apple campus–tinged vision for their growing Korean coffee-wave empire, with the hybrid name nodding to sibling spots Kumquat and Loquat. The 3,500-square-foot space takes a minimalist tack—neutral tones, discounted furniture to keep costs down, and hand-painted art by Kim’s mother—while centering transparency in sourcing and roasting. Across a courtyard, the north side serves specialty coffee and tea curated during Kim’s 50 trips abroad last year, built on relationships in Ethiopia, Ecuador, Panama, and Colombia; beans and tea leaves are displayed across two expansive rooms, from highly curated lots costing a few hundred dollars to more affordable options. A rear eight-seat omakase tasting room, Atelier Q, is slated to open by appointment in the coming months. The south side combines a compact cafe with a roasting room visible through floor-to-ceiling windows; alongside standard coffee drinks, two mashups stand out: the Claude Cooler (oolong, green plum extract, peaflower tea) and the Copenhagen (espresso, spiced apple cider syrup, mascarpone foam, cardamom, cinnamon). Despite tariff-driven cost spikes and volatile green coffee prices, demand remains high, and the team hopes to showcase barista talent and help them advance via the omakase stage. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in a space that shares a wall with Forest Lawn cemetery." - Mona Holmes

Taking advantage of LA's more decent traffic right after Thanksgiving, I finally paid a visit to Quat. Not only the road, the venue itself was at least less busy during this period. I've been hearing at least 30 minutes queue before even able to either place your order or enjoy your drink, but this weekend was much quieter (not like the venue was empty for sure, there's still quite a crowd there!). You could really tell the slow and chill vibes right by the time you enter the venue. People just sit and relax, mostly within their groups or with their pets; yep the venue was really suitable to do so! Don't be surprise that there will be tons of dog-barking to hear! Despite the huge open-air seating space to let you get sun-kissed, the indoor order area was quite tiny. They offered handful selections of drinks as well as the coffee beans. My visit was the last collab day with Wynd, which got me so excited being A HUGE FAN of it! As expected, very impressed by their signature Tres Leches. Decadently bold coffee, well balanced by the mascarpone cream top and cinnamon hint. It's kind of like dessert coffee, but not overly creamy that giving you 'too much' feeling #IYKYK. Really looking forward to seeing what they're going to carry out next post this collab and I'd surely be a happy returning customer!

New concept from kumquat & loquat. Tiny store(3051B) with roaster next door and separate retail section(3051A). Overall very pleasant experience. Baristas are very knowledgeable. Might see a decent line but everyone there seems to be coffee enthusiast. Parking is right across the street in a gated lot, very convenient.

We already know the coffee taste great, and their exclusive drink was really good. I did add a shot of espresso. But the potential that this location has for the coffee community is amazing. The retail side is so pretty and all the crazy packaging that these brands do. And just the outside area they did a really good job. It’s always nice to touch and feel some of these tools that you’re willing to buy and this is a great showroom for that.

Nice parking, nice court yard to chill with friends. Sounds like they will have some fun stuff going on if you follow their info. Have always been a fan of Kumquat and their selection of single origin beans from across the globe. This new location is very chill.
