We made the mistake of trying to dine at Queenie's on January 28th, 2023 with a 5:15 reservation. We frequently dine throughout the DFW area and are hard press to name an upscale dining spot we have yet to go to. We are fans of Lonesome Dove in Fort Worth, so were excited to try Queenie's.
Things started well, the hostess was very friendly, and Rebecca, the waitress, was superb. Since I'm a wine enthusiast, we worked through some options, and she was knowledgeable and helpful. Note: my first and second choices were both out of stock. The salads came out quickly and were delicious, and the wine choice was excellent. We put our food order in.
After about 45 minutes with no food, the manager came over and apologized and said the wine was on him. We told him we had a show to go to and had to be out by 7:00 (remember, it was a 5:15 reservation). An hour and ten minutes had passed, and we still had no food. I was doing a lot of watching. The table next to us had to return their food several times before it was right. Then, a table across from us with five people that had come in at least 30 minutes after us received all of their food. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. The manager came over and apologized again, and we told him about the table that received their food. Unbelievably, he said they only had 5 oz steaks (ours was 9). I told him that was a pathetic excuse that made no sense. He said he wasn't making an excuse. My wife and I got up and left without ever getting our meal. Hard to rate food that you never had. On the way out several staff members shared with us that management was a real problem and had turned over 3 times recently, and that they had lost their head chef.
Bottom line: After many years of dining around the globe, this had to be the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. First time I have ever walked out of a restaurant. Perhaps if the owner/chef spent less time working on his celebrity status and entertainment career and started to focus on flawless execution (at his hometown restaurant no less), this place might not have so many poor reviews. A quick scan over history of reviews across several sites, shows an approximately 60% positive and 40% negative review history. Also notable is the total lack of owner or restaurant response to reviewers....ever! Pretty pathetic for a supposidly upscale restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Lots of awesome dining experiences to be had elsewhere in the Metroplex.
