The 22 Best Bakeries In London - London - The Infatuation

"Quince is all about the three Bs: baking, Britishness, and brownness. Francophiles may as well cycle away because there isn’t a laminated croissant in sight, and really it's UK produce that gets this tiny Islington bakery going. The menu changes regularly but you can expect tarted-up tea party icons like elderberry iced fingers, sandwiches, sizeable strawberry jammy dodgers, and a totally irresistible brown butter bun." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

The 23 Best Restaurants In Islington - London - The Infatuation

"At Quince, shades of beige rule supreme. Be it a brilliant cold rice pudding tart that’s sold by the slice, or a brown butter bun that can be wolfed down in one minute flat. If you’re after something savoury, this tiny bakery also has rotating sandwiches that can be enjoyed leaning on the window counter. Just know that it’s a squeeze in here, and you’re probably best off enjoying your haul nearby or at home." - jake missing, sinead cranna

The 18 Best Mince Pies In London - London - The Infatuation

"Quince Bakery doing quince-stuffed mince pies just feels correct. The Islington bakery also uses brandy, nocino apples, and pastry made with remilled middlings—high in fibre, protein, all the good stuff—from Landrace Milling. Pastry nerds, rejoice." - sinead cranna

The Best Things We Ate This Week - London - The Infatuation

"“A few years ago, my friend and I ate the brown butter tart from the now sadly defunct Flor and had something of a sugar and fat epiphany. So much so that he learned how to bake them, and I continued to eat them. Now, Anna Higham, said baker of brown butter tarts, is back with her own bakery in Islington, and Quince’s signature brown butter buns are a whole new level of enjoyment. More savoury than the tarts, and bread-based (which is an obvious improvement), this encrusted brown bun mixes sugar and salt to such a perfectly umami level that I tore and devoured it in one minute flat.” - JM" - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

Quince Bakery - Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"If your weekend routine involves picking up a bouquet of tulips and an impeccably made pastry, you’ll more than likely find yourself trotting over to join Quince Bakery’s queue sharpish. The tiny Islington bakery's focus on British-style baking means it stands out from the crowd. Francophiles: cycle away because there isn’t a laminated croissant in sight. Instead, you’ll find a selection of rustic-sounding, London-priced goodies both savoury and sweet. There’s a brilliant brown butter bun, a cold rice pudding tart that’s as irresistible as it sounds, and lovely crunchy country stick. There are sandwiches and cookies too, as well as flavoured scones, and though you can kind of perch at the window counter, you’re better off escaping the crowd of hungry clogs and enjoying the park over the road. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat Pause Unmute" - Jake Missing

Cozy place! I was absolutely delighted by the purple potato and chive scone. The edges were perfectly crisp, with a rich aroma of potato and cheese that made each bite deeply satisfying. It’s far more nuanced than your typical sweet scone—earthy, savory, and with a playful touch of chive biscuit vibes. It feels humble yet clever, and completely unexpected in the best way. With only three months left in London, I already know I’ll be coming back every week😭❤️

Such a special place! Hard to find a place where everything is actually amazing, which is the case here. The best bread in London for sure - the miche is my favourite. The rotating quiches are also the most delicious I have ever had, and the scones are special too. Recently tried their chicken mayo sandwich which was generously portioned and full of the most tender chicken. Their oat cookies which they have all the time are also great. Really you can’t go wrong. The staff are lovely, with a special shoutout to Tim who has such a friendly and warm manner!

Google
The best bakery with such a variety! The day I went, the menu had some goods like: corn sungold tomato scone, brown butter bun, courgette chili pie, plum almond tart, aubergine romesco sandwich and a salami muffaletta. All amazing looking and very friendly. Recommend taking out to eat at Arlington Square garden around the corner.

This sourdough is phenomenal! In my opinion it's a level above other bakeries in the neighborhood (sourdough Sofia/pavilion). Love the texture and the gentle lactic sourness in the flavour.

Google
Great neighbourhood bakery and store. Very friendly and knowledgable staff, keen to chat, which makes service a little slow but no one seems to mind. Some delicious pastries, the berry crumble I really liked 😋 The only negative is that there seems to often be dogs in the store and uncovered breads on dog head height shelves 😬

This is the best bakery I have ever been lucky enough to find. The rustic deep flavours and quality of ingredients shines through every mouthful. It is different to any other offering and perhaps compared to the average offering elsewhere the visual appeal can throw you initially but be brave. It is well worth the trip.

Quince Bakery is a quiet triumph — a place where flour, butter, and care come together in perfect harmony. From the first scent of fresh pastry to the last crumb of a flaky tart, it’s clear: this is baking at its best. What makes it the best: Croissants — golden, crisp, and impossibly light Seasonal fruit galettes — rustic, juicy, and beautifully balanced Sourdough loaves — deeply flavoured, with a perfect crust Cakes and buns — tender, not too sweet, and full of character Ingredients are seasonal, local, and chosen with care. The vibe is gentle and welcoming — whether it’s a market stall or a tucked-away café corner . Staff are kind, passionate, and happy to talk about what’s fresh from the oven
