"Radio Africa & Kitchen is the perfect light lunch spot: it involves vegetables, and North African-leaning dishes, like chicken jambalaya and roasted eggplant with black-eyed peas—they won’t make you useless for the rest of the afternoon, and taste excellent, too. If on the menu, go for the plump saffron prawns over couscous, or the simple yet flavor-packed arugula salad with tomatoes and beets. This pleasant place is where to slow down and take a break—it’s flooded with natural light and full of books you’ll want to spend all afternoon with. " - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1, lani conway

"The passion project of Ethiopian-born chef Eskender Aseged, Radio Africa seamlessly blends North African, Mediterranean, and Ethiopian flavors on a regularly changing menu that’s become a staple in Bayview’s culinary landscape. Aseged began Radio Africa as a catering operation and pop-up while working with culinary greats like Joyce Goldstein and Daniel Humm until opening his Bayview restaurant in 2012." - Paolo Bicchieri, Eater Staff

"Radio Africa Kitchen serves neo-African cuisine - kind of a melding of Ethiopian food, with California flavors as well. I like the fact that it’s one of those restaurants that doesn’t put itself into a box - not allowing people to define what you can and cannot do." - simileoluwa adebajo 1

Wow…this was some of the best food I had in SanFrancisco, hands down. You can tell the owner puts a lot of love into the food. I got the prawns over couscous, salad, and hibiscus drink. The food was made to order and super fresh. The chef was timely, attentive, and had a great sense of urgency. He made the food in minutes. It was so flavorful. The space itself was very inviting. There were books to read, spaces to work, and larger table settings for groups of people. I was so impressed with everything I ate. The portions were also really generous. This was a great escape from pricy, hyped up, city eateries. It’s truly a gem and an A1 establishment.

Only got takeout, but so far so good. Delicious couscous with shrimp. Prices are very reasonable and the setting itself is nice. Great quick preparation of the food.

What a beautiful little African cuisine. It's exquisite for its meals and the guy at the front is very charming and helpful. I would definately come back again.

The setting is pleasant, wonderful service every visit. My first visit I tried the wild salmon, mixed green (kale, chard and spinach) and cous cous as well as black eyed peas with greens. If you like a kick of spuce be sure to ask for the hot sauce.......DELIGHTFUL

As per their phone, they are no longer open for restaurant service and now only accept catering orders.

The food and the staff here are phenomenal! I came with a large group and the staff took care of all the different needs of the group. While the rest of my party ate family style (and raved the whole time!), I requested a vegan plate that was a last minute addition. They didn't even flinch and very graciously accomodated my dietary needs. I enjoyed a salad followed by a bowl with lentils, saffron rice, and some sort of greens. It was perfectly spiced and delicious. Highly recommend!
