Mediterranean fare, wine, coffee, pastries, and all-day dining

"From the team behind Glasserie, Radio Star is a Mediterranean-style diner with a 1940s vibe opening in Greenpoint. They'll start with dinner service, but will eventually be open all day, so you'll be able to have a breakfast sandwich at 8am, an espresso in the afternoon, and smoked short ribs at night." - bryan kim, neha talreja, willa moore
"You can workshop your transcontinental accent at Radio Star, an all-day bar and restaurant from the Glasserie team. It’s right next to Transmitter Park, and leans hard into its golden age of radio theme. All the vintage furniture is from the ’40s, and there’s a post-war, industrial feel to the concrete bar and white cinder block walls. You and some friends can cosplay as radio hosts, catching each other up on the neighborhood news. They are open literally all day, but this spot is best used when the sun is pouring through those south-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows. Thankfully, the food here steers away from an exhibition on the era. The natural wine selections are written by hand on small signs, and the food leans Mediterranean—think ham-and-egg sandwiches on flaky roti and spinach-and-feta pies for breakfast, and chewy sautéed ginger-forward squid for dinner. And while nothing is sensational, the bites here are more than sufficient enough to fuel conversation. Food Rundown Country Ham and Egg Griddle Sandwich Not every breakfast sandwich needs to be on a fluffy bun or a kaiser roll, and this one is proof. The flaky roti-like bread gets spiraled in with a thin layer of fluffy eggs, and some salty ham. Grab one for breakfast. Spinach Pie Essentially spanakopita. A solid option if you’re just here for a glass of wine and start to feel peckish. This should tide you over to dinner. Pistachio Chicken Croquettes Again, fine for a quick drinking snack, but we wish there were more pistachio flavor. Some extra nuttiness would’ve gone a long way. Sautéed Calamari This is a socially unacceptable take, but if we could bring these snackable, chewy squid bits to the movies instead of popcorn, we would. Grab an order if you’re here after 12pm. photo credit: Radio Star Pig Cheeks and Labne, Hazelnuts Served in a swimming pool of labne and a smoky chili oil, it’s a little heavy for one person. But if you eat dinner here, this is a solid option to share." - Will Hartman
"Don’t listen to what they say—the Radio Star is alive and well next to Greenpoint’s Transmitter Park. The retro-style, imminently comfortable space is the latest endeavor from Glasserie owner Sara Conklin and chef Asi Maman. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m (Fridays and Saturdays get a midnight close time), the wee masterpiece slings breakfast, lunch, and dinner with intrepid energy. Condiment jars are essential to the experience—"all the jars" are available for $15, including roasted garlic, marinated feta, and half sour veggies—with merquez in a blanket ($13), sauteed ginger squid ($14), and the well-matched combo of labne & pig cheeks ($26)." - Charlie Hobbs

"Video killed the radio star, but there's a new restaurant in Greenpoint that's staging a little resurrection. Radio Star is an all-day Mediterranean spot from the folks behind Glasserie, one of our favorite Greenpoint restaurants. It’s right next to Transmitter Park, the former transmission hub for WNYC, and it celebrates the radio era. You'll find us in the vintage '40s seats, doing our best attempt at a transcontinental accent. We recently checked out Radio Star, and added it to the Brooklyn Hit List." - Will Hartman, Willa Moore
"Planned to open in fall 2023 at 13 Greenpoint Avenue, Radio Star is described as a restaurant and wine bar from the owner of the Mediterranean restaurant Glasserie." - Luke Fortney
