Coffeehouse with comfort food, beer, cocktails, patio, live music

"At this point, Justine’s is the landmark cool restaurant in Austin. The French brasserie on the East Side has a bustling energy, and is the restaurant around town you’ll see people happily putting together fits that combine formality with funky self expression. The menu has classics like steak frites, escargot, duck confit, oysters, and aperitifs, and the best pairing of all are the late hours — 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on the weekends." - Lane Gillespie

"Pete Yorn, Of Montreal, and Shakey Graves are all playing Radio East over the summer, anointing it the coolest new(-ish) concert venue around. If you’ve been to the original Radio, you know how this place works—coffee shop by day, bar by night. Let your afternoon cold brew become a happy hour margarita that might segue into a Talking Heads tribute show graced by Veracruz tacos." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs
"Pete Yorn, Of Montreal, and Shakey Graves are all playing Radio East over the summer, anointing it the coolest new(-ish) concert venue around. Just like the original Radio, which opened in 2014, it’s a coffee shop by day and a bar by night. So let your afternoon cold brew become a happy hour margarita that might segue into a Talking Heads tribute show graced by Veracruz tacos." - team infatuation
"Radio East is pretty close to a carbon copy of the original Radio Coffee & Beer, except slightly cooler thanks to the stage out back where Santigold, Of Montreal, and The Damned have played. During the day, it’s an indoor-outdoor laptop haven. Everyone’s upping their AirPod volume to drown out the traffic on Montopolis Drive. By night, whether or not there’s a show booked, the place morphs into a boozy hangout, and people swap their cold brews for a $5 happy hour margarita. When the need for sustenance strikes, Veracruz, Tommy Want Wingy, and Shortwave Diner are parked on site full-time. photo credit: RICHARD CASTEEL photo credit: RICHARD CASTEEL photo credit: RICHARD CASTEEL photo credit: RICHARD CASTEEL photo credit: RICHARD CASTEEL Pause Unmute" - Matthew Jacobs
"All three locations of Radio—the original on Menchaca Road, this newer one on Montopolis Drive, and an even newer one in Rosewood—go from daytime coffee shops to nighttime bars. They host frequent live shows, like the free jazz performances on the last Sunday of each month at the Menchaca spot. But Radio East is proving to be the coolest of the bunch, attracting big-name indie acts like Of Montreal and Santigold. Whichever you choose, show up hungry—Veracruz is slinging tacos at the first two locations, along with other assorted food trucks." - matthew jacobs
