Raja’s Indian Cuisine - Review - Downtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"If you had an intense dream about cuddling with a piece of naan last night, and now can’t stop thinking about the way it held you ever so gently, hit up Downtown’s Raja’s Indian Cuisine. The narrow little restaurant has some very good combo deals for $8-12, like a plate of chicken tikka masala with your choice of rice and vegetable. It’s more than enough food to split with a friend - even if your friend that day happens to be a fluffy piece of excellent garlic naan." - Ryan Pfeffer

9 Flavorful Indian Restaurants in South Florida

"This unassuming hole-in-the-wall offers great prices, and even tastier food, making it a popular lunch destination for those in Downtown Miami. Serving home-style South Indian food, dishes like chana dosa (chickpea crepe), spicy chicken tikka masala, and eggplant curry, the venue’s only flaw is that it closes at 6 p.m." - Eater Staff

Absolutely love this place. The best place to have an Indian meal and experience the taste of India being in Miami. I love the mysore masala dosa and mango lassi. Even the meal options are good, flavourful and wholesome. Thank you Sir and Ma'am for your kind service and giving me an unforgettable experience.

Google
Our experience at this Indian cuisine restaurant was absolutely delightful! The authenticity of the fresh food, especially the hot chapati made of wheat flour, left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied. What made the experience even more special was meeting the owners, a lovely couple who truly embody the essence of hospitality. Their genuine warmth and dedication to serving delicious, authentic Indian cuisine make this restaurant a standout. Highly recommended for a flavorful and heartwarming dining experience! 🍛🌶️✨

I had a delicious meal of idlees with chutney and samosas, made fresh and they were very authentic and delicious! I am a vegetarian and I don't like onions and they were absolutely accommodating. I can highly recommend a meal here!

Google
Authentic South Indian tiffin dosa & North Indian staples. Offers both veg & non-veg meals. Easy to get to from downtown people mover or short walk from Bayside market. Service was friendly, treated us like family. Reasonable prices much less than South beach places. No frills atmosphere with a few tables, family friendly.

Google
We ordered Onion Dosa, Uttapam, Egg Dosa, Idli, and Tea. All the dishes were outstanding and made us feel right at home. Being at that place evoked a sense of nostalgia and reminded us of India. As a dosa enthusiast, discovering such an exceptional spot in Miami feels like a stroke of luck. The authenticity of the flavors, the attentive service, and the welcoming atmosphere made our visit truly memorable.

Totally Homestyle/homemade. Authentic taste. Idly with coconut chutney and sambar was delicious and made fresh, totally home feel taste. Filter coffee and salt butter milk (with fresh ginger, coriander, mint, cumin seeds taste) is something to try for sure as it is authentically prepared. Veg or non veg thali/buffet is okay. Excellent taste on breakfast items. Small dine in restaurant.

Raja was amazing. He had fantastic customer service. I had curry chicken and a puri. He even gave me two veggies to try. 10/10 would recommend. The food is delicious.

Stopped by here for afternoon masala chai and samosas. Both tasted wonderful, and the nice couple running the restaurant is kind and helpful! Love the authentic chai and will come back!

Yelp
Authentic. Delicious. Massive portion. For the price this is sooo much food sooo delicious. For downtown Miami???? They deserve 5 stars. They are so authentic. So kind. So healthy. Amazing amazing. Best naan I've ever had.

Yelp
OMG!!! This food is to die for! Enjoyed every piece of it. Heaven! Prices are unbelievable $13.99 for lunch: rice, protein and two portions of vegetables. Mango lassi made in front of you out of the fresh mango. Butter naan is so fluffy! Loved it all!

Yelp
Amazing small mom and pop shop. Don't expect fancy Indian restaurant vibe. For those who know the taste of home cooked food will like this place to be clear and honest. They have been running this place and cooking all the food themselves for 33 years in downtown Miami. Food is not very spicy and their mango lassis is the best authentic taste made from fresh mango and not pulp, give this place a chance only to taste really simple homemade food from India: the couple were very nice Uncle and Aunty to talk to and shared their whole story which is interesting to know in that small cosy place:

Yelp
tony hole in the wall, ma n pa Indian. The smell leered me in as I was passing by, and I am a sucker for Indian food. The food is laid out buffet style - so you can see the food before buying, which is always Nice. I had a lamb curry, with lemon rice and a side vegetable order of Aubergine. The flavours were mild and delicate and gave me the impression of home cooked food, rather than a restaurant establishment. I also ordered a garlic nan, which I did not enjoy. It was too think and the garlic was garlic salt, and had too much on it.

Santiago F.

Yelp
The quality of the food leaves much to be desired, the place is not very clean and the prices are relatively high for its location amidst closed downtown stores. My vegetarian plate was not very tasty and their naan tastes like supermarket pitas bread. The owner admitted the bread is bought from a store and suggested that we put butter on it to make it tastier. I would stay clear of this place and seek options elsewhere.

Yelp
I was surprised to read some of the reviews claiming bigoted behavior by the owners. This has not been my experience. I have been coming to Raja's for over ten years, mostly for a quick lunch when I am around downtown Miami. This is a small restaurant that perhaps seats a couple dozen people in a very narrow, non-air conditioned dining room. It is simple, but very clean. You order at the counter. There are several hot dishes on display, and you can also order Southern Indian specialties or bread, which take some time to make. I usually order the veggie combo, with rice and two vegetarian dishes. It is very inexpensive and excellent value. I enjoy it, but I heard from my South Asian colleagues at work that taste wise the dishes are average. In my non-expert eyes they are quite good, though, and the price is unbeatable. This restaurant is run by a couple and their adult son. The lady cooks, whereas father and son tend to the front of the house. Service had always been impersonal, which I really don't mind, but it has improved greatly in the past few months, which just made a good restaurant all the better. In summary, a great neighborhood restaurant with very good prices that perhaps has a few execution flaws, but is an excellent choice nonetheless.

Yelp
Small, no frills family owned place. Food was great! Food is separated into vegetarian or not vegetarian which was helpful for me.

Yelp
This is really a hole in a wall place. You can't even see the inside well. But I am so glad that I decided to try it. Inside is very small and nothing fancy. You can see the food they have and they all looked so good. Some I had to ask what they were and they even let you try it. I decided to try lamb curry, chana masala, and pilaf. Some of my friends ordered fish and some had chicken. But none of us were complaining. It seems everyone was quiet and enjoying the food. I loved every bit of my plate. They gave me a lot but I couldn't stop eating! I am not sure if this couple who were there were owner but they were very friendly and helpful. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable. If you are in downtown Miami and you want something different or something a bit spicy, this is the place. I hope to go back to try some more dishes.

Yelp
Amazingly authentic Indian food. It tastes like your mom spent all day making everything you like. It's criminal this place doesn't have 5 stars.

Austin C.

Yelp
Not fancy but pretty great. Spicy options available. Nan looks solid. Big potions. Lunch buffet isn't self serve but it works.
google avatar

Deniece W.

Yelp
No frills Indian eats. You get big portions and it's cheap and fast. There's a buffet (not all you can eat) of veg & non-veg choices. The rice with all the veggies was tasty and the butter naan was warm and delicious but everything else was bland. I wanted way more of the flavor & spice that you normally get with Indian food.

Yohana R.

Yelp
Terrible food and customer service. One main skill to have when owning a business is to attract business instead of keep customers away. The workers at this nasty place are extremely rude to customers. I wouldn't ever recommend this horrible place to anyone. You are treated in an unpleasant manner, I was told that since I'm not Indian I shouldn't be there. I would never go back here or suggest this place to anyone that would like to have a pleasant experience. They get five stars for having unethical and bad business practices.

Melissa S.

Yelp
They are horrible. Rice does not come with food. The food has no flavor which is crazy for Indian food.

Yelp
Love coming here for lunch. If you like spicy, get to chicken tikka. So good! And the chickpeas are awesome. If you don't like spicy, the butter chicken is great. And the owners are super nice. Always trying to give more food.

Yelp
Few places compare to Raja's when it comes to authentic Indian food. This place is THE BEST Indian food I've had in the US. If you're looking for glam and frills this isn't the place for you but I guarantee this, you will not leave disappointed. I've had close to everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed with the quality, quantity, and price of the meals. I'm getting hungry just writing this. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I ordered from Raja's on Uber Eats. The food came in a styrofoam tray covered with foil. The sambar had no flavor. The dosa was undercooked. I posted a review on Uber Eats when they asked. And Raja responded with the comments attached. Tip - click on the pic to see the full response. Raja's has a very low rating on Yelp. Are those also "typical indians?" What do you mean by that statement? Do indians typically criticize your food? Or, are you negatively stereotyping your own customer base? Instead of attacking your customers, you may want to improve your quality and customer service. Based on your response, it clearly needs work. Lastly, yes I am Indian. I have eaten and ordered from many indian restaurants, and I have never posted a negative review for any of them. My review of your restaurant was warranted and I stand by the fact that your food is sub-par. And yes, I know Dosa is best eaten fresh. So, is all food. Including - pizzas, samosas, naan, puri, etc. Other restaurants seem to realize that. Having food delivered 4 blocks away is not an excuse for poor quality, flavorless foods, or abysmal customer service. Perhaps, if you used the 100 plus reviews here to improve what is coming out of your kitchen and mouth, you would improve your rating. Lastly, you should appreciate customers ordering from you. Not expect them to appreciate you for "feeding them." Which, normally I would do, but your attitude is clear. Your food and reviews speak for themselves.

Yelp
They have a buffet line, they will serve you. Price depends on what you want, one meat two sides or else other choice. They have 3 types of meats, lamb, chicken and don't recall what else. Overheard the owner that she might be closed for summer, so you might want to check it out before you go!!! It's definitely a good place for a quick lunch and reasonably priced!

Yelp
Wanted to go to an Indian place as I was starving for some nice Indian food during my vacation there. It was very exciting to know that this was a South Indian restaurant but to our disappointment - food was very average - quantity was too less - we ordered thali. Here is what the guy (owner) tells us ' you can pick up water from the fridge' and later he asks us ' would you like buttermilk or lassi'. What would one think? May be it comes with thali. Tats how asks in local language as if it is free but this guy charges for all that when u pay the bill. Be clear on what you want. - on top of that they think that the quantity they give is too much and need to cut the portions if you ask for to-go boxes. Lol! Not worth going there if you really want to taste some nice Indian food.

Yelp
sketchy looking so if you're the type who cleans the house before the maid gets there it may not be to your liking. for everyone else, read on. food was fair to good -- nothing spectacular but nothing was unsatisfactory. samosas were above average. unfortunately, no sweet chutney to go with them. naan was good enough to stand alone without being smothered in gravy. lemon rice was a pleasant surprise. mains were a bit less successful. gravies were a touch on the thin side, perhaps because i stopped in immediately after they opened and some expected cooking down had yet to occur. they were all flavorful, however, and spicy where it was called for. portion size on the lunch specials (around $10 per order) was more than adequate. a bit more gravy to spoon over the abundant rice might have been helpful -- but this is a quibble. biggest complaint: they open at 11:00 yet the trays for the lunch combos weren't fully out until noon. counter service was friendly and helpful (i was well-advised to try the lemon rice). on balance, the kind of ethnic dive that enriches any food scene. not a destination venue to be sure. nevertheless, a good value for lunch and a nice change from the usual cafe fare.

Yelp
This is the worst Indian restaurant in South Florida. The place is not clean, the staff are very rude, and you can tell they use cheap ingredients.
google avatar

Ritu W.

Yelp
Taste of the Indian food sold here is likely better than the average but everything else is unpleasant. I took a table which seemed clean but one the workers insisted on cleaning it up. So with the cleaning bottle & rag in one hand he lifted my husband's food tray and moved it over to another and repeated the same thing 30 seconds later when putting the tray back. They have got too many tables in a small space making. No wonder the place looks dirty and too cramped. Also, the combo is relatively pricy and does not come with any bread or yoghurt & the portions are tiny and need not fill you up. In short, I am not going back because I like to have a pleasant dining experience or would rather eat on a food truck.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is really good, if your looking for good Indian cuisine this place is a must! The spiciest chicken really isn't that spicy though, the hot sauces they offer on the side are not that spicy either so bring your own spicy. One star taken due to the fact this is America not everyone speaks foreign languages and it was almost impossible to get my order placed without he help of my Indian friend who brought me their. Another star taken due to the fact the place is super small and you can barely walk your food to a table as to how narrow it is where the tables are.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic food with homemade flavor. It's just a little hole in the wall that would be easy to miss but I highly recommend it!!! The Owner and his wife are very friendly down to earth people and he told us they have been at this location for 30 years. Glad I tried it for the first time today. Really excellent!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Always welcoming and friendly we love coming here for lunch at least once a month. It is a hole in the wall run by a modest Indian family. Servings are generous. Don't let the one star reviews by a drama queen (chuck r) and his pals sway you, they didn't eat there and are just bitter because they were asked not to take photos of the staff.

Paul H.

Yelp
Stay away!! Worst food ever! The place was filthy and staff incredibly rude. How do places like this stay in business?

Yelp
As the French would say "le terriblé". Today happened to be beautiful Saturday afternoon so I decided to go "Yelping".I came to the realization that I have way to many backlogged restaurants listed in my Yelp bookmarks that I have not tried as of yet. So I chose to get one out of the way by going to rajas in the Downtown Miami area. After parking & taking a gander of the area I noticed most shops had their doors closed. The area was not visually pleasing to the eye and there were a few bums to pester me for change along the way to raja's. Sometimes you just have to feel & take notice of the signs around you, which indicate what is going to take place when you reach your destination. Unfortunately this one time I did not. You basically look & choose what you want from many different items behind a glass food display. At first sight I was going to walk out, everything more or less looked dried, old and flaccid. But the woman behind the counter looked at me with these eyes like " please buy my food". So I went against my spirit and chose the seasoned rice, seasoned cabbage, lentils and curried cauliflower. I was shocked that the woman who served me the food quickly shot the plate in a microwave before I could object. I do not eat microwaved food! The food did not visually look that bad, but little did I know I was about to have a palatial adventure that was not the slight bit pleasing. http://bit.ly/1bhJTmz Everything was bland, almost tasteless. The curried cauliflower didn't even have a hint curry flavor. I have no idea what the lentils tasted like because it had no taste at all. The rice was somewhat hard as if it had been sitting out in the food display for hours. Raja's is definitely "No es Beuno Mi Amigos" If you want to eat heavenly Indian food and do not mind driving to northwest Broward check my review of Khana Kh'zana. http://bit.ly/1bhK15e

Yelp
Poori chana, samosas, and filter coffee were great. Just wished for better customer service. #There are no signs that it is self service. People come and sit and are told that it is self service! #the lunch menu are thali which has fixed quantity, don't ask for extra curry. The chutney cup is smaller than tomato ketchup cups in McDonald. #they don't serve water, you got to buy our ask for it. Lastly, wish they read these reviews and are little customer friendly!
google avatar

Naty K.

Yelp
Their prices are unbeatable. It's like a buffet, except it is NOT all you can eat, but you form a line and choose from the options that are already set out in containers behind the glass and they serve it to you on paper plates. For about $8, you get a side of rice, a vegetable entree and a choice of meat. On this past Friday afternoon, the choices were chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and lamb. The lamb didn't have much flavor, and the butter chicken was a bit sweet (they offer samples if you're indecisive) so I settled for the tikka masala, as it was spicy. I have to admit that the chicken was a bit dry, compared to the tikka masala I have had elsewhere and I agree with others that it seemed as if the food was sitting out for a long time, and this may be why it was dry at that point. As others have stated, it was lukewarm as well. The choices of rice were white rice, a yellow "lemon" rice, and another type of rice, which I forgot. I chose the yellow rice but I did not taste a drop of lemon. I had never had lemon rice as every Indian restaurant serves Basmati, but I was not very impressed. I might as well have gotten the plain rice for the same flavor, basically. The vegetable choices consisted of spinach without cream, cabbage, or a medley with carrots, cauliflower and green beans. I got the cabbage, and my friend got the spinach. The cabbage wasn't bad but again, lukewarm. I was a bit disappointed that instead of giving me the fresh batch of chicken and veggies or at least mixing it with what was left so that I could get some of the hot chicken and veggies that just came off the stove with the sauce, I was instead served the leftovers. There were only about 2 scoops of food left in each tray, so why not make a good first impression and serve your customers with the fresh batch? We got there at around 2:30 so god knows how long the food was just sitting there. I know this place won the best Indian restaurant in the Miami New Times some years ago but truthfully, I am not impressed. I guess you get what you pay for, but it was definitely not deserving of such a high honor even if the food was free. The place isn't very clean either. If I were to come, it would be just because I am craving Indian food and it's the only Indian restaurant (really, cafeteria) within walking distance from my office. Again, it's okay but it was not the best Indian food I had ever tasted, and the choices are rather limited. I frankly don't know what they were thinking when they said this was the best Indian restaurant in South Florida because for me, it was average and greasy, and the rice was all clumped together like a big ball, which to me is a big no-no. Rice should be fluffy, not clumpy!
google avatar

Jessie V.

Yelp
The people who have stated that the portion sizes are too small are crazy! I always have enough for two meals. Additionally, while the owners may be quiet and reserved, they are very nice. Others just may have mistaken that for rudeness.
google avatar

Fernando G.

Yelp
I get to downtown Miami once in a while for errands and always make a point of stopping by this quaint family owned and operated eatery . Amazing varieties of curry option for vegetarian palates and non vegetarian . Also recommend their bread choices and the dessert
google avatar

Brant H.

Yelp
I'm so over this place. The food is tolerable, especially given the lack of choices for Indian food in downtown Miami. But the service has always ranged from surly to "we just barely tolerate your presence." And it's only gotten worse since the new woman began working at the buffet. She at least smiles, but she skimps on portions so much that $10 doesn't give you a filling meal at all, anymore. Unless you're really dying for some butter chicken and you don't have time to make reservations at Bombay Darbar, give this one a pass.
google avatar

Guy In The 30 5.

Yelp
You get your food fast. It is served in sturdy paper plates with disposable cutlery. Despite that - the food is delicious. The portions are based on what is available at the time that you get there. There are buffet Tables that provide dishes to you to choose from. Lunch dishes start at $8bucks and at height of the spectrum you might pay $13. My Fiancé and I spent $18 bucks and we left totally full. Raja's is not the classiest place in town but it is great for the money!

Yelp
This is a great Indian restaurant for those on the budget, and the food will be more than satisfactory. And nobody has tried to hide this secret - or if they did, they failed miserably! It's been in the Miami Herald, the Miami New Times, Zagat, and so forth - and the owners of this small restaurant deservingly and pridefully hang their news-worthy accomplishments on their wall. Why? Well, cheap, good, and different is hard to come by in Miami since this is a land where people come to be seen. Even the restaurateurs come from other cities just so they can be "seen" with their high prices and haute cuisine that just would not be justified in other notable cities like San Francisco or New York. But enough of the griping... at Raja's, you pick from their offerings as if it was a cafeteria or they'll make something for you if it's on the menu overhead. The price for a huge combo that I had was $6.99 and it consisted of rice, a side and lamb. Even though I just named three things, their portions were heaping big enough to get me full. The combo with chicken is a dollar cheaper at $5.99, but I thought the lamb was more flavorful. Plus, their samosas were really good as well as the naan. The one thing I didn't like much were the pickled mangoes, but I'm sure that's an acquired taste, especially since I have never seen pickled mangoes anywhere else, even in other Indian restaurants that I had been to as of yet. This is a great stop for something different or uncommon in Miami whenever you're in downtown.

Yelp
It's not the place for voyagers, but rather sustenance is great. Same like the sustenance you get in the nourishment mess in india, extremely credible. We went on Monday so In lunch they had just rice and 3 vegetable alternative, no dossa nothing else. Resemble it's chaos for office going individuals. We loved nourishment in particular. Had feeling of eating in India. Individuals are decent. Less evaluating in view of vibe and inert administration. No excitement in serving client which we are utilized to.

Yelp
Amazing Indian food in a tiny and cozy cafeteria style place. Prices are affordable and portions are huge. Will definitely come back!!!!

Yelp
LOVE this place! Such a wonderful and authentic treat-right in the heart of Downtown.

Yelp
Mostly used it for take outs couple of times.Ambience is not good. Food is mediocre. Staff is somewhat friendly (depends on who is serving). They serve lunch. There are better options for Indian cuisine in Miami than this.

Emma B.

Yelp
It's easy to miss from the street but the food is really so good! For $10 you can get a lunch platter- I recommend the butter chicken and spinach options. The masala tea is also delish

Yelp
I love workday lunch spots that provide quick, delicious food at a fair price. Raja's definitely fits that bill. This is one of my go to spots for my 'vegetarian' days, which I have pretty often and am so grateful that gems like this exist to fill that urge. Sure, the place may not look like much but the food is consistently good and the service is quick. Plus I only spend $6-$7 for a HEARTY meal. Now don't go trying to compare it to places like Bombay Darbar (my FAVORITE Indian restaurant in Miami) because that just isn't what this place is. This is quick, cheap, yummy food for a healthy lunch break. I have yet to order off the 'prepared to order' menu, but might try it one of these days for a dinner when I can spend more time waiting.

Yelp
I don't think I've eaten better sambhar anywhere else in South Florida. This hole in the wall place, literally, serves north indian and south indian cuisine. I've tried both and their south indian dosas, sambhar, uttapam are unbeatable. To top it all, they're not expensive. Ooh, and their regular lassi is infused with rosewater -yummy!!! The only issue I'd say is parking - downtown says it all... I don't return here as often as I'd like to.
google avatar

Yelp
AUTHENTIC. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Raja's before. It's a real go-to for a super quick weekday lunch. For vegetarians in particular, it's a real boon. Here's the deal: It's about 3 blocks away from McDonald's. The price for a meal is comparable. Raja's is actually quicker depending on crowds, and after lunch, if you eat at Micky D's, you'll wanna lay down and die, but if you eat at Raja's you'll feel like a million bucks. I like to get rice with one veggie dish--usually something with chick peas or lentils. It fills me up, it's cheap and it takes a matter of minutes to get lunch and pay. Why no fifth star? Well.... if you compare Raja's ambiance with McDonald's, it's hard to call a winner. There's nothing wrong with Raja's that a bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush couldn't fix. Just order take out.
google avatar

Jeet K.

Yelp
Very ordinary food, overpriced. We came here on Jan 1st while we were vacationing in Miami. This was the only Indian restaurant in downtown Miami so we went there. The restaurant is extremely unhygienic and is nothing more than a take out place with a few tables and chairs. Less said about the food the better. They add frozen vegetables directly into the pan without thawing thus resulting into extremely bland tasting veggie dishes with hardly any spice. They serve pita bread as naan and charge 3$ for the same. I did not eat the meat dishes so i can not comment on them. The ambience and customer service is nil. I would never recommended this restaurant to anyone. You are a terrible advertisement of Indian cuisine.
google avatar

Marcos R.

Yelp
Hmm.... I was a little on the disappointed side after having lunch there one Saturday afternoon. It seems to be weekday office worker's lunch spot, so maybe their best stuff is served during the middle of the week. I'm not certain. All I know is that it wasn't that great. It's unfortunate too, because decent Indian food isn't that plentiful in Miami. And the restaurants that do have acceptable Indian cuisine tend to overcharge. I'm hoping I just came on the wrong day.

Yelp
if you are looking for quick, affordable, low key and really tasty Indian food - this is the place. It's a little hole in the wall that you might miss if you look away while walking but what they lack in decor they make up for in their food. they have lunch specials that change every day. I had the curry chicken with lemon rice and chana masala (curried garbanzo/chick peas), all of which was really yummy - flavorful, just a little spicy kick, and a good sized portion. the service is quick since the food is served buffet style, already prepared (but prepared constantly not sitting there) and the prices are extremely reasonable. the location is not so hot if you are coming here any time outside of lunch hours, but other then that I would say this is a must go to place if you are looking for authentic Indian flavor.

Yelp
I got off the metromover, walked around looking for the auto title office, and noticed this Indian restaurant on an empty street. The food is pre-prepared but my spicy chicken curry was still moist and tender, slow cooked to perfection. Many Indian restaurants in the US have an Americanized taste but Raja's tasted authentic, something your Indian neighbor would cook for you. Everything was delicious! Minus 1 star for location, I would not be comfortable going here after dusk.

Yelp
Shabby place with bad decor and bad food. The place seems unwelcoming and unappealing. You would be better off spending your money at multiple other Indian restaurants around this area.

Yelp
Best Indian food in the city. Traditional, fairly priced, and delicious. They use quality ingredients. Homey vibe, great place to be.

Yelp
Very close to Miami Dade Wolfson campus, within walking distance of the metromover, and also very hard to see if you aren't looking for it. Fantastic prices, very friendly service, tasty food. the end.

Yelp
Food was great! Had the chicken curry to go and it tasted awesome. They'll serve a big plate too, no skimping! Will definitely be coming back. Great for anyone walking in the downtown area.

Yelp
Raja's is great if you are downtown during the day. Run by a nice Tamilian family, you can chose from a fair number of South-Indian vegetarian dishes, samosas and usually one or two meat items as well. If you are lucky, nice, and you know how to ask for what you want, you might be able to get the proprietress to make you some off-menu items as well. It is a good place to try some of the differences between North and South Indian cooking, including the previosly mentioned mango pickle (which is better when mixed sparingly with rice). Although this is a low-budget, styrofoam eatery, the taste is authentic and delicious. Given the severe underrepresentation of Indian cuisine in Miami, it is nice to see Raja's do so well on nothing but the taste of the food.
