Google
I was pleasantly surprised by this place located in a food court that my husband wanted to visit. It is reasonably priced and the staff is extremely helpful & friendly. Side note, their broth is not as rich or salty as other ramen places which I prefer.

Google
Delicious sesame noodles. Sweet, spicy, savory, and served with chicken and veggies. My palette was thoroughly satisfied. It was prepared quickly as well.

Google
This is easily the best kept secret at Union Market - maybe also the best secret Ramen in DC??? I was there again this past weekend and also tried the noodles (cold) - incredible! The worst part about going to this place is deciding between all the great options on the menu. Staff is very friendly and nice too. I'm not sure if the Japanese guy is the owner or not, but he is very friendly and helpful, a true gem that really helps make the experience.

Google
Cute little Ramen stall with friendly service and some tasty options. I felt the flavors were authentic Japanese and the broth was delicious. I think my noodles may have been slightly undercooked but not enough to ruin my meal. Reasonably priced option for a quick bite at union market… I would try again.

Amanda

Google
The menu said "soft-boiled egg," but what was actually served was a very undercooked poached egg. The egg whites were barely cooked and the yolk was cold and raw. The noodles and chicken were decent, but the chicken shio broth just tasted like plain chicken stock. The spinach was also raw. Personally, I would not come back here.

Christian Almeda

Google
Had the Japanese Curry Rice Bowl and it was amazing! It was pure comfort food, and made me feel great! Food was fresh and done quick. It's hard to consider any other establishment in the market, knowing that this place is here. A must try!

Google
Ramen by Uzu Review: Tasty and Affordable Chicken Ramen Located in Union Market, Ramen by Uzu specializes in chicken ramen with a flavorful broth that’s both good and reasonably priced. The portion sizes are generous, offering great value. I think the chef came from Toki Underground, adding to the credibility of this delightful ramen spot, but can't confirm.

John Lin

Google
Got the tsukemen, even though the broth was good, it wasn’t thick or rich enough as a tsukemen and the wavy noodle was ok. For a bowl of noodles at $17, there are probably better option in the market

Yelp
My parents and I were looking around for lunch options at Union Market, and my dad wanted ramen so we ordered one from Ramen By Uzu. The order was ready within 10 minutes. MISO RAMEN - 15.99 The broth is made with chicken bone and miso paste, and topped with wavy ramen noodles, one or two pieces of chasiu, corn, soft-boiled egg, spinach, nori, wood ear mushrooms, and scallions. The broth was savory and rich, but a bit too fatty and salty. Still, it was enjoyable to sip on a bit. There was a good variety of toppings, but I personally don't love spinach in my ramen. My favorite part was the soft-boiled egg that was perfect, with creamy and runny egg white and yolk. Overall, it was alright, but pricy for the size. It was worth trying, but we didn't go crazy over the ramen here.

Yelp
Best thing I ate at Union market. I went to Japan in October 2024 and this place has ramen that's comparable to the ones I had there. Got the miso ramen with spicy sauce (extra cost) added to it and it was amazing. Probably should told medium to mild level for spiciness but it was still enjoyable. The pork loin in it was so tender. Very hearty meal and it was storming when I went this past Friday, so the perfect meal to watch the rain and enjoy something hot. Service was relatively quick and I was able to find a spot to sit and eat it within the market.

Yelp
The bowl: Though I've been here before, I was highly impressed the second time I came compared to the first time (it was not the first time I came, but that was long ago). I believe they improved tremendously compared to the last time I was there. I ordered the Miso Ramen with Xtra Spice added. I forgot to ask for no corn, but I was hungry & was not thinking. Other than that, I'll say the broth is impressive for it to be chicken based broth (I prefer the traditional pork bone broth based ramen bowls. I hope they will add that to their menu one day soon). With it being in Union Market, it can be hard to find somewhere to sit and dine because Union Market is action-packed and casual, in addition to available spaces being unclean. So, I had to go to La Cosecha to sit down and eat my bowl. Something that did bother me was how messy it was to open the bowl. The Xtra spice was all over the rim of the container lid (as pictured). I probably should've asked for the extra spice on the side to prevent the mess. Also not a fan of spinach being added to ramen. So yes next time I go, I'll request no spinach or corn. Other than those mishaps & suggestions, I'd definitely recommend getting ramen from Uzu. I'll certainly go again. They hit the mark with making a flavorful broth & ingredients/ toppings pairings.

Yelp
Food was soooo good! I've tried different ramen places all over the country, and this is by far some of the best! I ordered shoyu ramen with extra spice. Service was quick and easy as well, just an amazing experience overall. Great spot to eat at Union Market!

Yelp
This ramen had no right to be so good. In fact, all the food my friends and I got at the market was 10/10. Finding a seat is a bit of a challenge, especially when it's cold and rainy out, but we just had to wait a few minutes and something opened up. Definitely would come to the market again and definitely would get the ramen. It was flavorful, the noodles were good, and the man at the register was very nice.

Yelp
After several laps around Union Market, I found myself consistently drawn into the Ramen by UZU stand. I finally made the plunge with my mom and we decided to give them a try. I did not have high expectations for this place, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. Staff was courteous and extremely thoughtful with packing when we decided to take our order to go. I was most impressed with them asking about whether we wanted the noodles packed separately from the broth. This would ensure the ramen remained a good texture and did not overcook in the warm broth. We had a 15 minute or so drive back to our hotel, and our ramen was honestly perfect still by the time we assembled it all together. Super fresh. Our order consisted of the Miso Ramen. Broth was flavorful, the pork was tender, ramen was the perfect texture, the soft boiled egg was still PERFECT even with our 15 minute drive back to our hotel, and there were plenty of the appropriate fixings to complement our dish. The serving size was perfect for two of us. Pricing justified the product, by far. We were extremely pleased with our Miso Ramen. Ramen by UZU is an excellent choice if you're looking for some ramen, something to warm you up while dining in Union Market, or a good eat. I would definitely dine with them again the next time I'm in town and at the Union Market.

Yelp
I like the noodles they use here. The wavy, eggy, chewy kind. Got the tsukumen, pretty good -- expected the broth to be a bit thicker as a dipping ramen, but the flavor was good. On the spicy side. I liked the variety of veggies provided. Overall, pretty good especially knowing they only do chicken bone broth. I've been here a few times already

Yelp
I love Ramen and been to a lot of ramen shop in my life. I'm from Japan. This ramen was surprisingly good. Excellent customer service as well. ラーメンが大好物で、日本に住んでた時も色々食べ歩いてたんだけど、やっとアメリカで美味いラーメンに出会えた。 接客もすごく良かったです。

Yelp
I admit I came here with low expectations but I'm glad that I was proven wrong. While it's nothing fancy, it is definitely solid ramen joint and should not be underestimated. My partner and I ordered the shoyu and miso ramens, wanting to just try the basics for our first time. The staff were friendly and patient, answering all our questions and offering us extra napkins to help carry the hot takeout bowls (it wasn't unbearably hot though so we opted to not take an excessive amount of napkins). The noodles were so springy and bouncy! Both broths were good, but I liked the deeper flavor of the miso, which I typically prefer over shoyu anyways. But the star for me was the pork. This was SOOO tender and not overly fatty like at some places, so you could actually taste the pork flavor without feeling your arteries clogging. I also loved how much wakame (seaweed) they added, especially compared to the spinach lol. I like how simple the menu is and can't wait to try other items, especially the tsukemen, which I don't often see in DC. I do wish they had seating and served with real bowls because I feel like it would preserve the heat of the broth a bit better than plastic takeout bowls, but obviously space is limited in Union Market. Given its proximity to where I live, I'll definitely be back to satisfy my ramen cravings when I'm too lazy to go across the city for my usual spots!

Yelp
4.5/5 I got the cold sesame noodles and they were soooo good. I love chilled noodles and these did not disappoint. The noodles were nutty, cold, fresh, and flavorful. Would absolutely get again. The only downside is that the portion size is a little small for the price. The employees are really nice, and the service is quick!
google avatar

Kevan S.

Yelp
Food was good. I wouldn't say it was better than the other DC ramen places I've been but there was a Japanese curry option I didn't see which probably would've changed that. The only complaint I have is that the eggs are poached not tea eggs.
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
Would come back! I got the miso ramen and I enjoyed the dish overall. The broth was pretty solid and the noodles were nice and chewy. The pork slice on top was quite thick and a bit dry, not sure if that's how it's supposed to taste? There was also a lot of spinach in the bowl which I was not expecting and it was annoying having to eat around it (I don't like the taste of raw spinach). I've never had spinach in ramen so this was surprising.

Yelp
The underdog in the D.C. ramen world, but the more I eat here, the more I realize Ramen By Uzu is number one!!!! The owner Hiro was raised in Japan so you know this is the true style of ramen you're eating. Staff whip and layer ingredients with precision & speed while maintains the aesthetics of the bowl. I love me some Chicken Shio for when I'm feeling something warm & comforting or my favorite bowl, the Spicy Miso for a fiery kick. They even have Vegan ramen which I know is heaven sent for the ever-growing Vegan community. Multiple styles, authentic to Japan, High-quality and fast - what more can you ask for!?

Yelp
My favorite spot to get ramen when I visit DC. It is located inside of Union Market, it is a food stall. There are places to eat outside of the food hall, limited seating inside but I usually order to go. The flavors are always delicious, I go between the Shoyu Ramen and the Chicken shio Ramen depending on my mood, it never fails on hitting the spot and I can eat 2 bowls at one time. The service is always good, they let you know about possible allergies and are friendly.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
I visited Union Market for the first time. It was no secret why I was there, THE GOOD EATS!!! I browsed around for the perfect meal and settled on ramen. It was late on a Sunday evening so the market itself was pretty empty and no one was in the Ramen by Uzu line. I walked right up and ordered the Vegan Miso Ramen with no tofu. Because I didn't get any tofu I got extra vegetables. The ramen was cooked perfectly and the broth was super flavorful. I like spicy so I got extra chili paste to give it that blast of heat. It was no issue making my accommodations to my meal and overall my customer service experience was pleasant.
google avatar

Naa P.

Yelp
This is a go to spot for me for vegan ramen although I think they could step up the toppings offerings for the vegan meal. It's creamy and I always add extra spice bomb. I have a high tolerance for spice and heat so the regular spice level is never hot enough for me. Seating can be a hit or miss because it's in union market and they do use or practice sustainable packaging and recycling. So it may be best for takeaway.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Great customer service, very good options on the menu and if you do not like the menu just tell them what you want. Custom style! Flavorful, full of fresh ingredients and delicious. Simply put its good and you should give it a try.
google avatar

Amari E.

Yelp
This ramen was okay, I got it via Uber eats on a cold day and it filled me up for sure. They skimped a little bit on the noodles, but provided me with other toppings to make up for it. They gave me an egg, mushroom, scallion, and seaweed. They also gave me a separate container for the broth so that the toppings did not get soggy, which I appreciated.
google avatar

Cas N.

Yelp
The service is wonderful. Very polite and very quick getting your food and the ramen is decent. Not the best that I've had but certainly not the worst either. The Shoyu broth was very seaweed and fish forward so the other flavors didn't come through at all. Not even the pork which could have balanced some of the taste.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
A pretty solid ramen spot in the Union Market area. I ordered their Chicken Shio Ramen ($15.50) which I have to say is pretty good. Plentiful ingredients including chicken, bok choy, soft-boiled egg, seaweed, scallions, bamboo shoots, and naruto. The chicken broth doesn't taste too salty or overloaded with MSG, which I appreciate.
google avatar

Saha S.

Yelp
I've recently been trying different ramen spots and DC, mostly vegan variations since I don't eat pork. The ordered the vegan ramen from UZU for delivery and it was delicious. The broth was amazing and surprisingly tasted very savory. I asked them not to cook the noodles, since cooked noodles tend to become very soggy when delivered. I cooked the noodles fresh for a little less than 2 minutes and rinsed them under cold water, which made the texture perfectly chewy. The toppings were good and consisted of chili oil, menma, spinach, nori, and this fried stuff tofu. The tofu was delicious. However they added a bit too much menma and spinach, and it kind of overpowered the dish. I also wish it was a bit spicier or they gave you the option to modify the spice level. Overall good dish, but I would have changed a few things.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised to discover this ramen stand in Union market. They are takeout only and serve all ramen in plastic bowls. I had their tsukemen and fyi it is SPICY for those with weak/mild tolerances but I loved it! Pros: The broth is very flavorful (I'm not sure if it's pork or chicken broth or a mix), the pork is super soft and tender, and noodles have a great texture. The price includes a lot of toppings like half an egg, spinach, corn that a lot of other ramen places charge extra for in DC. Cons: this is not authentic Japanese dipping ramen which is supposed to be super thick and rich. This broth tasted like a normal spicy tonkotsu broth, still delicious; just mislabeled?
google avatar

Josh J.

Yelp
The ramen was good! I wouldn't say it is the best but I'm not picky so it was still tasty. I think it's a little overpriced for the portion but it's D.C. and also Union Market so I get it. LOL but my broke boi wallet doesnt. This was the stand that kind of stood out the most to me after walking around so I'm glad that I got to try it out. The service was chill/fine. Food came out quickly too.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
I went this past weekend and ate the Shoyu Ramen. After ordering at the counter, my food was ready within about ten minutes. Everything was cooked perfectly and each of the individual ingredients were delicious, however the broth was translucent and lacked savoriness and the aromatic flavor one desires from a ramen. I'd go back and try one of the soups that doesn't use chicken bone broth.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Ramen by UZU is in the union market and features various ramen dishes. Their menu isn't very big but everything on there is super delicious and flavorful. I got the ramen to go and the ramen was kept fresh and was still super delicious. There aren't many places to eat inside but there are some tables outside. The service was great and I didn't have to wait too long for my food. I highly recommend them and their prices are reasonable as well
google avatar

Otniel L.

Yelp
I'm a Ramen junkie and this spot is good - nothing worth waiting in a long line for or driving far distances because it's crave worthy, it's just...good. The broth isn't as rich or flavorful like I was expecting. This is the main reason I didn't rate it any higher. All the other ingredients listed below were solid. The one ingredient that I thought was extraordinary is the pork loin. It tasted like it was either grilled or broiled and had some smokiness to it, perfect amount of meat to fat ratio. I'd seriously buy the pork loin by itself and eat it every single day, it's BANGIN! My order: Shoyu Ramen -Chicken bone broth with soy sauce base. Topped with pork loin, spinach, soft-boiled egg, nori, wakame, togarashi, scallions, bamboo shoots, naruto, and sesame seeds. -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT
google avatar

Radhika G.

Yelp
very tasty and fresh and warm, a bit too oily for my taste. presentation 10/10. if you know union market you know it's difficult to find seating.
google avatar

Lei D.

Yelp
I have to say that this might be the best ramen that I've had in DC, and I've been to a lot of different ramen shops around the area. For less than $20, you get a large bowl of ramen with rich broth and other toppings that comes with your ramen. That being said, there's not a lot of innovation or varieties between the basic ramen that they have (shoyu and miso, etc) and other ramen shops around the area. However, their Tsukemen ramen and other non-typical ramen are really tasty and has a lot of fillings. Food is 8/10. The reason this is not considered five stars is because I've been to a lot of other five-star worthy ramen shops that clearly distinguish themselves in terms of food and taste, and Uzu hasn't reached that level as of yet. However, in terms of the best ramen within DC, this is the best option that you've got.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by Uzu by Ramen for a late night snack and was nottt happy :( My friend and I ordered the Chicken Shio Ramen and as soon as we opened it, the smell threw us way off. It smelled (and tasted) like a petting zoo. We persevered but the chicken was gray and the smell just ruined the experience for us. The staff was nice but they were closed by the time we came back down to try a different meal. Might come back one day before closing but WOW not pleased with this experience.
google avatar

Shenique B.

Yelp
Visited Union Market one Saturday and was deciding between Uzu and another place. I came to Yelp to see what people liked here and noticed a couple of people mentioned the cold sesame noodles. The restaurant's description and the Yelpers' reviews looked good but I was hesitant because the chicken appeared very pale in the pics. I prefer my chicken to be seasoned and browned so I was about to walk away and try something else (actually, I did walk away) but something said, "Try It". Those cold noodles and chicken and that sauce were SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Idk what all is in their cold sesame noodles but I'll definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Jose F.

Yelp
I've only had the Shoyu ramen and I must say, it was really good! I love ramen and I try it at just about everywhere I go, and this place did not disappoint! I would definitely come back. I can't wait to try the chicken shio next time! The chicken is perfectly cooked and the broth is pretty tasty.
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
I have visited this place many times over the past couple of years on the weekends. I went this past weekend and realized that I had not reviewed them. Here goes: Consistently good ramen, with good broth. The staff is always friendly, and the place is always busy. That's a pro and a con. The prices are about average, but when you want to sit down and enjoy ramen it's difficult during the busy days and it can be frustrating. Ambiance is not really applicable, because it's inside Union Market, but that can also be a pro and a con for those of us who love the place. Really, the only thing I can complain very lightly about is that I wish there were more bowl options. Like perhaps a fried chicken ramen like I had in Pennsylvania's Easton public market. All in all. I definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Albert L.

Yelp
Visited during covid pandemic... Came by again but tried the soyu ramen... very good as well! Also had it at the union market this time instead of taking it home. Union market has outdoor seatings and upstairs "rooftop" (enclosed) seating... pretty spread out with sanitizer available and chlorax wipes My friend is vegetarian and they had a vegan option! First time hearing vegan ramen! My friend said prob one of the best vegetarian ramen she ever had!

Yelp
On our last day in DC, my husband and I had to check out Union Market. Walking through the market UZU caught my eye, it was finally a cold a day so I decided to get the Shoyu Ramen, weirdly enough the fire alarm went off when I went to another stand. As I was walking out a member at Uzu saw me and handed me my food. While the fire department came and temporarily down the market I sat down outside with the rest of the patrons and market staff eating my ramen. Can I just say on such a cold day this ramen was superb! The broth was so flavorful and the noodles had a good chew, are the noodles made in house? Most of the ramen that I get has a huge chunk of pork belly but this came with a really tender and flavor sliced pork loin and even though I wanted a marinated medium boiled egg their egg definitely did the job. I ate it for last to the let the hot broth cook it a little further. Will definitely be craving this, if we're ever back in DC I will definitely come back to the market just to get ramen from UZU! Thank you guys for making our last day in DC memorable.
google avatar

Aarti B.

Yelp
Hands-down the BEST vegan ramen in DC! The creamy broth is bursting with flavor in every bite with a spicy kick from the house-made chili paste. The bowl is packed with chewy ramen noodles, chunky stuffed tofu, and a heap of veggies - wakame seaweed, nori seaweed, bamboo shoots, spinach, scallions. Very filling and no shortage of veggies. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Uzu is a ramen stall, located inside the Union Market. Their menu offers a variety of ramen and noodle dishes, as well as specials that you can check out by their register. The hubs and I came here for lunch, and we ordered: +Nikuman - a Japanese BBQ pork steamed bun, served with a side of yellow mustard; the pork reminded me of those bbq char shu pork buns from the dim sum menu; I didn't really care for this +Cold Sesame Noodles - ramen noodles with housemade sesame sauce, topped with chicken, cucumbers, pickled ginger, and chili oil - this usually comes topped with fresh cilantro, but we opted out of that; this was really good and was one of our favorites! The sesame sauce was thick, savory, and delicious, and the cold noodles were chewy +Tsukemen - chicken bone dipping sauce with housemade miso and akakara spice; served with a bowl of cold noodles, topped with seared pork loin, spinach, poached egg, corn, wakame, togarashi, scallions, memma, naruto, sesame seeds, and sesame oil; the dipping sauce had a nice kick to it, and the combo of this was pretty tasty +Miso Ramen - chicken bone broth with miso base; topped with pork loin, spinach, soft-boiled egg, corn, nori, wakame, wood ear mushrooms, togarashi, scallions, and sesame seeds; the broth was a little salty, but I liked it! It was soothing and flavorful, and the ingredients were all fresh Loved that the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, and we were pleasantly surprised at how everything was delicious! I'd love to try the rest of their menu and check out more of their specials. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and kind - when we were there, there were only 2 staff members; our order only took about 15-20 minutes or so. Definitely the best eatery to check out at the Market - you won't be disappointed! +Cold Sesame Noodles! +tasty ramen! +perfectly cooked al dente ramen noodles! +friendly & kind staff! +located inside the Union Market +plenty of parking in lot

Yelp
The Shoyu Ramen is a tasty and rich ramen with a chicken bone & soy based broth. It's topped with pork loin, spinach, egg, nari, wakami, togarashi, scallions, bamboo shoots, naruto & sesame seeds. Also, the pork buns are also very delicious. I have frequented this food stand a few times and each visit the ramen has always been very good. They used to have a small seating area next to the place but it seems another shop is in that spot. But you can find seating almost anywhere here at Union Market.
google avatar

Ashley K.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and was definitely satisfied wi rn the quality. Though pricey (as is everything in Union Market), the flavor was definitely there. To my surprise the broth was actually creamy. I do appreciate them asking for allergies before you pay for your order. In the vegan ramen that have something called stuffed tofu which is basically tofu stuffed with chopped onion, ginger and tomato (I think, can't remember). It wasn't bad but if I went back I'd get it w/o tofu. I also don't like tofu, so there's that lol
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Flavorful ramen and a great location. They also have a vegetarian option which was fantastic. I recommend if you're in union market looking for a meal rather than a bite.
google avatar

Bonnie H.

Yelp
Ordered the shoyu ramen. Overall I thought it was good. Portion size was large and the pork was very tender.
google avatar

Leese H.

Yelp
I've had the shoyu and miso ramen at Uzu and they are both mediocre at best. It's nice to have a ramen shop in this area where you don't have to trek all the way to H street corridor's Toki Underground to grab a meal. But there's nothing too spectacular about this place: solid broth and noodles; not a fan of spinach as a replacement of bok choy or kikurage; and egg is just passable. It's quite a pricey penny for a ramen under $20 as takeout. I would come back to try udon on a colder day out.

Kay H.

Yelp
Ambiance 10, food 10( added extra spice) good customer service ! 8 min wait lol, will come again! Also, the portion is generous as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Ramen was a flavorless and in small portions. Just left there 20 minutes ago. I felt like I was eating soup more than ramen.

Yelp
We ordered a Miso and Shoyu Ramen, both with extra noodles. You can see everything being made right in front of you, and it's all so fresh. The broth is incredible and was so hot we had to wait a few minutes to eat in the 45 degree weather. The pork is charred right before it goes in, the nori, and woodear mushrooms still have the right crunch to them, and the egg is perfectly cooked for that yolk to run right into the noodles and gloss them to perfection. if you have a big appetite the extra noodles is the way to go, but you better be hungry, because even we had a hard time finishing the bowls.

Yelp
Have only tried the tsukemen from here - it's decent, but next time I'll try the ramen. The broth had a good flavor, but for me was not as thick or rich/fatty as I like tsukemen. But the noodles, flavor, and pork were all solid. Also tried the pork buns which were ok (probably wouldn't go for those next time). A stall in Union Market - takes 5-10 minutes for a bowl.

Yelp
Had the tsukemen with chicken. It was good but not great. Good spice but was looking for more layered flavors. It felt a bit one note, though tasty.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE spot in Union Market, all thanks to their tsukumen, a dipping style ramen that is only regularly found here. I have had it over 5 times now, both in person and via takeout. They used to use ticket noodles which I preferred, but the regular thickness ramen noodles they use now are still delicious and springy. The dipping soup is so flavorful. I love that there is always leftover dipping sauce so I can boil noodles at home and make a second meal for myself!

Yelp
My friend and I ordered the miso ramen and the cold sesame noodles. They were AMAZING, like knock your socks off amazing. The miso soup itself was rich, creamy, and decadent. I loved the flavor, it wasn't too salty. The noodles were the right texture. It was everything I could've asked for in a soup. My friend said the cold sesame noodles was refreshing. The chili oil gave it a good kick. They also said that the noodles were chewy and also had a good texture. The service and atmosphere here was so friendly. I'm making this place my go to ramen spot. 100/10 recommend, would come here again.
