The Best Ramen in Houston | Eater Houston

"This Austin export has staked its place as one of the city’s best ramen restaurants. Miso, tonkotsu, and more inventive broths are on offer, all of which can be amped up with a ton of toppings (like marinated bamboo, Parmesan, and mushrooms). Outside of the noodles, don’t skip the Yodas, flash-fried sweet and sour Brussels sprouts tossed in apricot vinegar and curry spice." - Brittany Britto Garley

The 10 Best Ramen Restaurants In Houston

"Hailing from the fair city of Austin, Ramen Tatsu-ya in Montrose makes grabbing a quick bowl of highly customizable ramen easy. Order any combination of ramen, like the Mi-So-Hot spicy ramen or the tsukemen dipping noodles, at the counter with add-on “bombs” like corn and honey butter, yuzu kosho citrus with serrano and jalapeño, and as many toppings as a bowl can hold (extra ajitama for us, please). This location might not live up to its Austin predecessors, but the food is solid and will definitely fill you up, probably for an entire day. Roll up here for a quick lunch or if you need to fuel up for a 10-mile walk. " - gianni greene, chelsea thomas

Google
The food was delicious! I loved everything about this ramen restaurant—the flavors were rich, and every bite was satisfying. The music was perfect, and the atmosphere made it a great place to hang out with friends. We had such a good time. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
My friend came into town last night and she was craving some good ramen. So we looked for something close by and found this place. I really loved the lucky cat when you first pull up. Now you have to be careful when trying to locate this place because Google maps wasn't that reliable when trying to get to the correct street so we had to turn around once. So when you walk in you will the menus along the wall and you selected the bowl you want. They have general bowls numbered and you just add on the additional ingredients you want to add. The ramen tasted so fresh and the broth was perfect. They do have some beers, but i would get the slush of the lemon/cucumber or the strawberry lemonade.

This place always comes to mind when I need a quick and tasty bite 😋. The vibe is great — simple but really well put together ✨. Convenient location with free parking 🚗✅ is a big win. If you’re a ramen 🍜 person, you’re going to love it ❤️. Staff are super nice 😊 and the food comes out fast ⚡.

Google
BEST Ramen in H-Town IMO!!! It's true deeply simmered pork broth that has an amazing creamy rich flavor! The seasoned eggs are perfectly done here! Highly recommend if you are in the search for amazing ramen and super rich broth.

Google
The ramen here is delicious & fast. Definitely would recommend for those ramen lovers. I ordered the the miso hot and it's not spicy but has a small kick to it. Place is clean and staff is friendly, order first at the door, pay at the cashier and pick your seat.

Google
This is my favorite ramen spot since I was in college. Small parking lot so it could be packed during the rush hour. The interior is very cool and unique, especially the restroom haha. The staffs are friendly and nice. I always ordered the Tonkatsu Shoyu with fire in a bomb (spicy paste) on the side. This always hit the spot. This time i also ordered the chicken karage, which is okay, not really impressed me much. The charsiu bowl is better in my opinion. But i love Ramen Tatsuya no matter what. Highly recommend!

Google
Well, all I can say is it was awesome, I mean, look at the empty bowls! The guys at the counter were super helpful and extremely nice. I've never eaten here before. Therefore, I asked for recommendations. We can in at 1pm on a Friday thinking we would have to wait. Simply walked in and within a few minutes my food was served. Not sure what is in this lemon chill, but dam its good and im ready for another

Google
My husband and I just discovered them gem!! We have been searching for a new Ramen spot downtown ever since Izakaya in Midtown closed (RIP) and this place checks all the boxes! Great prices, delicious tonkotsu broth, yummy karaage… 10/10 😋

Yelp
This is the place for Americanized ramen that appeals to the younger crowd. The decor is American hipster and traditional Japanese at the same time. I ordered a Mi-So-Not with a corn bomb. The broth was very delicious and flavorful. The noodles are not my go-to for ramen, but they were still good. Adding the $1.50 corn bomb gave it a much creamier flavor. It's a ball of butter with some corn in it. The ramen portion is pretty small for the price, I wasn't full after it, so I would recommend ordering an appetizer. We ordered before sitting, similar to a fast food place. It was easy to order at the counter and they brought the food to our table very quickly. Overall a nice casual spot for a quick ramen lunch with friends, but not if you're seeking larger portions and traditional ramen.

Yelp
Food wise- ramen broth was tasty. Ramen noodles al dente. Wish the portion was a little bigger though. Menu was a goodly size. We ordered #1 and #2, curry and rice, karrokay, and karaage. They forgot to give us the karaage!! They refunded us at the end. Ambiance was lively. Big room with 4 booths, 2 large community style tables and a few smaller tables. I was upset they didn't let us use the booth because it was only 2 of us adults and a baby (in a car seat). They were saving it for parties or 3 or 4. I wanted to booth so we could have room for the baby. For a place that doesn't have a hostess (you order at the front and bring the number to the table and they bring you the food), I was a little disappointed they were policing where you sit. The place was only 60-70% full too. No line outside -- it was a rainy cloudy Sunday around 4pm. I kinda regret tipping 20% on the iPad thing BEFORE I knew they weren't going to let us pick seats and they were going to forget our order smh. They should have more tables to accommodate larger parties if they are going to tell people where to sit. Food: 4 Service: 3 Ambiance: 3

Yelp
I had a great meal at Tatsu-Ya and left pretty impressed! I ordered the Gyoza and THE OG-Tonkotsu, and both were on point. Gyoza: really nice crispiness on the edge, juicy inside, which is how it's supposed to be. THE OG: The broth was rich and creamy with tender pork and a perfect cook on the noodles. Toppings added great texture and flavor: wood ear mushrooms, soft-boiled egg. my only wish? A little more spice, kick it up a notch. That's just me. Inside, it was always vibrant and fun, probably a bit too loud inside to comfortably have conversations. Service was friendly; it took a bit longer for my food than I thought, considering the crowd at the time. Overall, it was a good ramen shop, and I would not mind making another visit here someday to sample other dishes. Tatsu-Ya really nailed comfort flavors in all ways.

Yelp
I had ordered from here before but had never actually gone in and sat down. I am glad I did! I came with some friends on a Friday night and was able to find a parking spot (after a little wait) right there on their lot. As soon as you walk in, you place your order and then find a seat. I decided to try something different so chose the "MI-SO-NOT" (Tonkotsu) ramen which had egg, pork bone broth, miso blend, goma pork, ajitama egg, scallion, napa cabbage, bean sprout, corn and sesame seeds. We also tried the "KOROKKAAAYYY" (Japanese croquette, panko, potato, chashu, house katsu sauce), the Gyoza (pork dumplings with soy vinegar) and the "Karaage" (Japanese-style chicken, twice-fried served with a side of garlic mayo and chili sauce). The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and you really feel like you are in Asia. Service was also great! Everyone was really nice and attentive.

Yelp
I love this place so much for a quick, delicious bowl of ramen. Super chill vibes. I tend to stick to mi-so-hot or the dipping noodles because they are both so good. I do wish there was more room to customize your bowl. Add ons can get pricey. Parking lot but can sometimes be pretty full. Can try street parking as an alternative.
google avatar

Yelp
Broth was salty, not my favorite noodles. You place your order at the counter and sit down which is nice, and they have long tables for big groups.

Yelp
When Houston temps drop to below 50 degrees, I instantly start craving ramen. I was lucky enough to find this cute little corner restaurant in my drive today and walked in with little expectations since this was an unplanned midday stop. Walking in the restaurant, I was at first discouraged by the line to order past 1:30pm in the afternoon, but it went relatively fast before I can finish reading the menu and decide on the items. Being my first time there, I went for the classic OG tonkotsu ramen and the karaage chicken. Both were served within minutes of ordering once I was seated, and it made for a perfect cold weather meal! If you think the outside of the restaurant is adorable, wait till you see the interior design and the thoughtful placement of water stations, eating utensils, etc. Also, if you're looking for a place where you can dine comfortably by yourself without feeling awkward, this is the spot! I will absolutely be returning again in the near future. Pro tip: if you're wanting to try multiple items with a friend, try ordering one bowl of ramen with added noodles and then a couple sides. You can ask for extra eating bowls to split the food.

Yelp
Was introduced to this place by family when we were visiting Texas from out of town...this is seriously one of the best ramen places we've had in the US (only other one I've found similar to this was in Detroit). I'm usually one who eats all the noodles and leaves half the broth in my bowl...here I actually finished all of my broth! It's that good. My picky 4 year old also absolutely loved it and actually said "these noodles are soooooo so so so good!! ". Would definitely come here every time we're in town :)
google avatar

Alyssa E.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite ramen spots in Houston. Got the Miso hot broth w/ fire in the bowl bomb! Super delicious and thick broth! Must try with the bomb. Little on the spicier end so for those that don't like things too spicy, I'd definitely skip the bomb. The sweet and sour yodas are my favorite hands down. Never fails to disappoint. You must get the yodas!
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
I don't typically like ramen but I really love the Tsukemen. It is incredibly flavorful and the noodles are perfectly chewy with a good bite. I would come back again specifically for this dish.
google avatar

Keila B.

Yelp
Ordered the Sho-Yu with spice bomb added on the side and it hit the spot. Service was spot on and the ambiance was tranquil even though it was busy. The restrooms and restaurant were clean. Paired my ramen with Lychee Ramune which is like a Japanese (I believe?) sparkling water, it's the best flavor in my opinion. I was so sad when I had to move away from Austin's location, until I discovered one in Houston. Worth giving this place a shot!

Naeee C.

Yelp
Good flavors cheap prices ...great spot for a ramen date and the play nice music all day ...must try the yoda
google avatar

Yelp
Used to be a faithful customer. Shrinkflation hit hard here. Vegan option is broth with a side of noodles, sprinkled green onions. All the good veggies have been eliminated and made unavailable for vegetarian even options. Disappointed nevertheless

Yelp
Good ramen place in the heart of Montrose! Parking: Average sized private parking lot and free neighborhood parking as well. Ordering: Upon walking in, head straight through to the counter and order from there. After you pay, they walk you to an available table. Ambiance: Modern yet casual. Plenty of seating for a group of friends and I felt comfortable dining in by myself. Food: My go-to is their Tonkotsu Ramen (#1 The OG) with a spicy bomb. The chasu is tender with chewy noodles and the broth is flavorful. This dish filled me up without any additional add-ons or appetizers. I've tried the Karaage appetizer which was just ok to me. Overall, if you're craving ramen and in the neighborhood, then this is a place you should try out.

Yelp
The vibe here is always super cozy. The service was super quick and friendly as well, the food was fast to arrive! The only minor issue was that we ordered edamame but they didnt pick it up on our ticket. After I went to the front to ask about it, they said it was on the house and offered it free for the inconvenience. The staff here really go out of their way to make everything perfect! I will definitely come back, the ramen was fantastic!

Yelp
Ramen Tatsu-Ya is one of the best ramen places in Houston in my opinion. This place brings a new experience of flavor to ramen. The restaurant itself is designed with Japanese influence, however it's a bit humid inside. Service here is great as the employees have no problem explaining any questions and are always inquiring if you need anything. If you are in the Montrose area and want an amazing bowl of ramen, come to Ramen Tatsu-Ya! You cannot go wrong with any order. FOOD REVIEW: Mi-so-hot (5/5): the Mi-so-hot is a spicy and rich tonkotsu style ramen. The flavor of the broth is delicious and well prepared. The spiciness has a kick to it (I'd give it a 7/10 spice level), so make sure to order a drink. Mi-so-not (5/5): the non-spicy version of the Mi-so-hot. This ramen is super rich, creamy, and packs a ton of flavor. The broth goes so well with all the other ingredients in the bowl. Definitely a must try if you come here.

Yelp
After trying serval mediocre ramen bowls in the suburbs, I decided to make the trek into Houston to expand my search for tasty ramen. Ramen Tatsu-Ya was my first stop, and it was impressive. It has a true Houston ambiance with a melting pot of patrons, loud music, and a unique building. I appreciated that it is an order at the counter set up rather than being waited on. The line moved quickly on a Sunday evening, and there were several open tables. Our ramen was brought out quickly, and my goodness it was tasty. I ordered the #2, and the broth was very flavorful. I will no longer be wasting my time eating ramen anywhere in the greater Houston area... Ramen Tatsu-Ya has satisfied that craving.

Yelp
Decent ramen, speedy service, casual atmosphere. Went with a friend who loves ramen and we agree it is decent but nothing to write home about compared to other places.
google avatar

Chrissy P.

Yelp
Super cool! Super cozy! The line was crazy long but it didn't take a million years to eat.. everyone respected the wait time and ate, and left which was nice because people didn't have to do that. The food was fresh and came out in a reasonable amount of time. Also to say this was the best tasting ramen I've ever had! The noodles were also small which I appreciate

Yelp
oh, ramen tatsuya...there was a bowl-shaped hole in my heart as i drove away from your austin location. until, of course, i realized there's a location in montrose. there was ample parking and seating on a friday night which was pleasantly surprising. the pork chashu was a little too sweet for my liking but still delicious. the broth is literally perfect. there's not much else i can say. we will be back again and again and again.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ramen Tatsu-ya in Houston, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the chill vibe and aesthetic that the place exudes. The ambiance sets the perfect tone for a relaxing and satisfying meal. The culinary journey began with the karaage, which was a crispy and flavorful delight. The perfect appetizer to whet the appetite for what was to come. Moving on to the main event, the SHO-YU (Tonkotsu) ramen was a symphony of flavors. The rich and savory broth paired harmoniously with the tender noodles and expertly prepared toppings. It's evident that a great deal of care and skill goes into crafting each bowl. One of the highlights of the evening was the Hibiscus tea sake drink. This unique concoction added a refreshing and unexpected twist to the meal. The balance of flavors was spot-on, making it a delightful companion to the ramen. All in all, Ramen Tatsu-ya left an indelible impression on me. The combination of the relaxed atmosphere, delectable dishes, and standout drinks made for an exceptional dining experience. If you're a ramen enthusiast or simply someone in search of a memorable meal, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to Ramen Tatsu-ya. Your taste buds will thank you! Five stars, without a doubt.

Kathryn O.

Yelp
Was super packed when we got there, but the line moved quickly, staff was very nice and helpful, fun music and good vibes, and this was the best ramen I had ever had. Definitely would recommend the mi so hot but you probably can't go wrong with any choice. Will be returning :)
google avatar

Yelp
I love the 5.1 (Tsukemen)! I go to the Houston location all the time but one thing is, you can't order it online through their website :( also can't reach them by phone either. I am not sure if they forgot to update the website after it came back, but would be nice not having to go in every time and wait just for a to-go order. Overall I've always had a great experience here and nice customer service.

Yelp
Lots of dishes you haven't eaten outside, good service. Chicken nuggets are very good, very juicy, highly recommended!

Yelp
Fav ramen in Houston, hands down. Deliciously rich broth, food is prepared quickly, the interior is spacious and awe-inspiring. Recommend this place 1000%!

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS! I got the Mi-So-Hot it was so good! I cannot wait to have it again! My daughter got the Ol Skool and it too was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. Everything was clean and fresh. It is a complete WIN!

Yelp
Ramen tatsuya used to one of my favorite ramen places in Austin. Not sure what happened but the ramen wasn't nearly as good as I remember. This location had a nice parking lot and we were able to get spots around ~7pm on a Saturday; however as we were leaving, the lot was completely full. When you walk in, you order at the cashier, and they bring out the ramen pretty quickly (within like 5-10 mins). I got the Shoyu ramen, and it was just okay honestly. The broth wasn't anything special, and I didn't even drink any of it. It came with 1 thin piece of meat, half an egg, 1 piece of seaweed, and some bamboo. It was pretty underwhelming, and I felt like there wasn't even enough noodles in the bowl..I don't usually eat too much but the bowl I had definitely left me wanting more....I was pretty sad as Tastsuya was the first ramen place I had that I really liked. Not sure what happened but it was pretty disappointing. The interior of this location is still really nice and a fun vibe with friends; however, I probably won't be coming back for the ramen any time soon :(

Yelp
I adore this location! my favorite ramen spot since grad school. Prompt and courteous assistance. Food is consistently delicious. I appreciate that they also sell pocky and hichew, two Asian delicacies! Although there are other ramen restaurants, I prefer this one because, despite being packed, you still feel like you have your own space in addition to the homey ramen aesthetics. Most likely the design and the room's size. It offers a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at ease the moment you walk in. The staff/cashier comes around to make sure everything is good and once again it feels like a friend is checking on you, you just need to go inside and dine in to understand what I am talking about! I've dined in here many many times so I don't really think about taking photos anymore but I go with the miso hot and gyoza most of the time! Private lot, but sometimes on the weekends when it's packed, you might have to street park!
google avatar

Yelp
A solid 3.5 stars but I'll round it up to a 4. My friend and I wanted to grab some ramen after a long hoop session. This location has terrible parking so don't come during busy hours. We came around 2pm & luckily was able to find a parking spot. The service was fine, you walk in grab a menu & order at the front counter. After that, the cashier sits you at a table & they'll bring your food. I decided to order their matcha tea & the OG Tonkotsu. My friend ordered the Curry Nu skool (vegan). Let's start with the matcha tea, it was pretty good. Decent amount of matcha flavor. My OG Tonkotsu was creamy, rich & flavorful. I will say that the broth was a bit on the salty side but it wasn't over the top. The noodles were the perfect Al dente. The chashu was fine, it was a little chewy & not moist/tendered as I was expecting. The most disappointing thing was that they only gave me 1 slice of chashu versus your standard 2. I got to try my friend ramen as well & I thought the broth was exceptionally good. It was rich & had a lot of curry flavor. I am not a vegan but I will definitely order this next time & add an egg and chashu to it. Overall, it was a solid experience. Was it the best? Nope. But good enough for me to come back if I am in the area. The service was minimal but the food runners do come and check on you a few times, which is nice of them. The decor looked fine & overall a clean restaurant. Will I come back? Yes.

Yelp
As big fans of Ramen Tatsu-Ya in Austin, we were excited to finally try the Houston location. In our opinion, the ramen here was just as delicious! I ordered the sho-yu (tonkotsu), which is made with pork bone broth, soy sauce blend, chashu pork, ajitama egg, menma, scallion, nori, and pepper. The broth is very rich, which makes this a very filling meal, but the taste is so good that I don't mind the richness. The pork flavor is really strong throughout the broth. My favorite add-in is probably the egg, which is super soft. My husband chose the mi-so-hot (tonkotsu) - the broth was a bit more spicy than mine, but it wasn't too hot. I really liked the corn and bean sprouts added to this one. The only disappointing part was that we tried to order the sake slushy on the menu, but the machine wasn't working. We ended up ordering beer instead. The staff was friendly, and our food came out fairly quickly. We will be back for more ramen!
google avatar

Juncel A.

Yelp
Ramen tatsu-ya was one of our favorites. We would drive from the burbs all the way here and risk getting our cars broken into just to eat ramen here. That was years ago. The ambiance is still great. Service was still friendly. But somehow our bowls weren't as good as I remember. I got the dipping ramen, and i don't remember it tasting like this - maybe they changed their recipe - It was still good, but nothing I would rave about like I did back in the day. My wife's bowl was also just ok - she got ramen with chicken broth and have had better at Jinya sadly. Maybe the OG is still good, but didn't try that this time. Overall, the place is still a vibe. Maybe we went on an off day, but we were pretty disappointed. I will definitely give it another shot, but will have my expectations lower next time.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate the birthday of one my close friends, and it was nice! The restaurant itself has plenty of seating and the decor is very cool. I love the giant lucky cat outside lol makes for a great spot to snap a pic. As for the food, we started off with some spicy edamame, and honestly this was my favorite dish. It was soooo good, it was just spicy enough and was a great to snack on as we waited for the ramen. For ramen, I got the Ol'School with a Spicy Bomb. I enjoyed it, the broth was nice but without the spicy bomb I don't think I would've liked it as much. I also got a drink, I can't remember the name but it was just okay. They have a nice selection of beer on tap too. Overall, the food was good, and service was pretty quick so I'd definitely recommend it if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
It's good but it's too expensive in my opinion. I know everything is expensive now but it's 10-15$ for noodles. It's just a me thing though, if you're a ramen and noodle fan have at it!
google avatar

Tinh T.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed coming to Ramen Tatsu-Ya for their amazing ramen. The vibes are always good and the food just as good. My favorite ramen from this place is Tsukemen. It is a dipping style of ramen where the noodles and soup are separated and you have to dip the noodles into the soup. The flavor of this Tsukemen has definitely changed from the last time I had it. Originally whenever I tried this type of ramen from here, it was very savory and had a Texas spin on what Tsukemen is usually like. It used to taste like a BBQ type of ramen. But now with the change, it tastes like a more traditional style of Tsukemen you would find in Japan. Less savory but definitely more umami and a little bit of that fishy taste that you would normally get with a Tsukemen style ramen but dialed down. Overall I really enjoyed this new flavor profile because it isn't as tiring as the originally flavor I've known.

Yelp
Completely forgot to take a picture, but here is my rating : The food was good for the size. It was a small portion but you can order more noodles and broth for an additional charge. I spent a total of $14 on my meal which was only the ramen. I did get some water from their free water station. Not complaint about the price because it wasn't that expensive, been to places that was a whole lot more expensive. Over all I hate my food to be a 4/5 due to the portion. When it comes to the ambiance, I can't complain. You seat yourself and there is a lot of seating. From a bar to sit at, to booths and table and chairs fitting a whole family of 8. It was pretty roomy. 5/5 The service was excellent, food came out fast and very friendly. They were helpful and willing to suggest something for someone who's never been there. 5/5

Yelp
I stopped by on a weeknight to have dinner with a friend. Parking was easy with plenty of open spots in the lot. Upon entry, we went up to the counter and ordered. The restaurant is open seating, and since it was a weeknight, there were plenty of open tables. I was only able to eat the vegan Nu Skool due to my dietary restrictions. The portion size was generous, and the taste was just okay. I suggest offering more vegan options in the future.

Yelp
Perfect meal #3 ramen bowl with ground pork was delicious! Haven't eaten a noodle in 6 months and this was just what I needed. The perfect food to break a carbohydrate fast!

Yelp
Unique decor inside and if you're looking for authentic ramen I would recommend this to anyone looking for ramen in the area. Definitely top 5 and service was def over the top attentive lol but I appreciated it

Yelp
Ramen Tatsu-Ya is located along the "night life" area of Montrose. It is conveniently located to other restaurants / shops and is in a nice high-roof establishment. You order at the cash register, then get seated at a table. There are a variety of ramen options to pick from, and the service / wait time is pretty fast. The establishment offers many booths and tables, and the ambiance is pretty relaxing. Give them a try!

Yelp
Love the atmosphere. Pretty quiet - good place for a small group conversation (2-4ppl) although there are big tables available for larger group. Service is fast and efficient. Their ramen is very good- more dense broth. Chewy noodles. Not too salty- when I asked for less salty, they brought me a bowl of more bland broth to dilute it down, which I thought was cool. Mi-so-hot was just hot enough for me. They have variety of beers, which I thought went well with ramen and karaage.

Good ramen spot!! Definitely a must. Staff here are very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Love coming here during the winter because it's cozy and the warm ramen keeps you warm. I love the broth and the pork is so nice it melts in your mouth. Noodles are rich as well.

Yelp
This is a sad review for me to write. We have been eating here regularly (multiple times a week) for a long time. Their food is simply the best. The reason for this one star review is due to the fact that they have recently began to charge a 5% packaging fee on our order. This is unacceptable, as we eat here regularly but always to go as it is far from our house. IF THEY STOP this practice of up charging a FIVE PERCENT TOGO ORDER FEE then I will change this review to five stars, because they do deserve five stars if not for this bad business practice. As a business owner myself, I can say there should be a discount, not a 5% surcharge for ordering take out, as the over head associated with dining in the restaurant is reduced. I'm already paying out the ass for extra eggs at $2.50 an egg, as seen in this receipt that's an extra $10 for 4 eggs. However is this practice does not change I will have to take my business to any of the other wonderful ramen places in this large city of Houston. MANAGEMENT: Please respond to this review to let me know this packaging charge practice has stopped and I will change this review to 5 stars and continue sharing this great place with family and friends. Thank you for reading this. Sincerely, Two very regular yet disappointed customers.

Yelp
Came here for a chill solo bday lunch. It was just that. The music was very lofi beats, which is great. The staff was helpful with recommendations. The broth was so creamy and hearty, and the spice was just right. The flavor bombs can be overwhelming but just figuring what spice is right for me was the trick. The gyoza was flavorful and crunchy. Friendly staff. Will be back soon to try everything else lol

Yelp
This place is just alright, definitely just for aesthetics. I ordered tsukemen because i had been craving it and it was okay. The broth wasn't my favorite and the apps i ordered were really small portions for the price. The service however was great! The staffs were really knowledgeable about everything on the menu which was amazing. Overall I think i would be okay not coming back here.

Yelp
I had first heard of Tatsu-Ya almost a decade ago, rumored to be an excellent ramen place located in Austin. Good ramen was difficult to come by then, in Houston, and a lil drive to Austin crossed my mind more than a few times. While I never was able to make it up there, I learned years later they were opening a Houston location! Despite having a rough start, Ramen Tatsu-Ya has established itself as a top ramen destination. With the several times I have visited, I always order the tonkotsu ramen. It's my go to ramen. I love the rich pork broth that has been simmering and developing for hours. The chasu is perfectly tender, as is the half of a runny boiled egg. I love the mound of wood ear mushrooms that provides the prefect bit of texture. Simply delish! Their rendition of this classic ramen bowl is amazing! Go ahead and add that extra egg, chasu, or even extra noodles! I've tried a few sides in the past, and honestly, they're a pass for me. Stick to the ramen. Looking forward to future visits and future wonderful food memories at my favorite local ramen joint.

Yelp
The food was good, not the best, but it does satisfy my ramen craving. It was creamy, not spicy at all so I added a fire bomb, and it made better. It was too creamy for my liking. It was thicccccck. Overall 3, could be better.

Yelp
One of best ramen restaurants in Houston!!! For sure. The old skool is a great ramen that is a chicken broth with slices of pork! very flavorful, all of the toppings compliment each other very well. The dipping sauce dish was very interesting and delicious! Perfect for this hot weather. The dish is not very hot and you dip the noodles into broth/ sauce. The slider is the perfect appetizer for 1 person. It's sooo good! So much flavor unfortunately it only comes with 1. But very worth it You order at the countertop and then they seat you. No outdoor seating but plenty of indoor seating. The service is alway so nice, welcoming and accommodating!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm new to the world of ramen but I really enjoyed Tatsu-ya. I tried their Mi-So-Hot ramen--the broth was thick, rich, and super flavorful. The ramen alone was very filling so I had plenty of leftovers for later. Also tried their Brussels sprouts, which were super crispy. The restaurants decor is super cute. You order at the counter then seat yourself. There are seating options for small and large parties, even bar stool seating if you're a solo diner. Service was quick and easy. Overall really enjoyed it, would definitely go back again.
