Dance club with '90s-2000s music, bottle service, and tables

"For an epic night of dancing, all roads lead to Raven Bar. The SoMa bar/club specializes in throwback hits—which translates to hip hop, pop, and R&B from the '90s and early 2000s (prepare for lots of Aaliyah and Usher). It's two floors, and both are covered in wall-to-wall TVs playing music videos, cheesy neon lights, and more lasers than a JLo video. This place is primarily a group and birthday destination, but come here whenever you feel like moving and want to prove you still know the lyrics to "Are You That Somebody." - ricky rodriguez

"Having gone through a few transformations since the ‘90s, the Raven Bar is the nostalgic club of your dreams. Only throwback hip-hop and R&B are played in this multi-story SoMa nightclub. The best pairing for a nostalgia-filled evening? The familiar flavors of the espresso martini, made with Kahlúa and Absolut Vodka." - Vox Creative

"In SoMa, I watched Raven Bar lean into AI with a new ChatGPT-created cocktail called “CraftGPT”: a guajillo chile-infused mezcal drink that ChatGPT generated from parameters the Raven team set and then refined for human consumption. KPIX brought a bartender from Raven to demonstrate making the drink, and Raven GM David Luu said he was “highly impressed by what both our team, and ChatGPT created,” calling the collaboration a “blending of ‘old-school and new-school’ which mix together to create a fresh experience.” The press release also notes it was written in collaboration with ChatGPT." - Dianne de Guzman

"I note that the building owners Deborah and Jerry, who own 1151 Folsom Street—the location of the SoMa nightclub Raven Bar—have waived Raven’s April rent and allowed the club to defer May’s rent over a period of two years during the state-mandated closure of bars and restaurants. They say their decision was shaped by their experience owning a bar in the same space during the 1989 earthquake, when South of Market suffered extensive damage and the year-long Bay Bridge closure hurt their business and employees, and Raven’s marketing director Sean Colin says it is the club’s hope that other building owners will find creative ways to work with tenants so communities can weather the economic impact of COVID-19." - Eve Batey
