Where To Eat Outside In Fort Worth

"Fort Worth is a cattle town that takes their cuts of steak seriously. In a city with steak and chop houses on nearly every corner, Reata sets itself apart, especially with its rooftop bar and patio where you can take in downtown and Sundance Square. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the calf fries (bull testicles) with cream gravy. But you’re here for steak, and we’d recommend the bone-in rib eye with the Cook’s Butter: it’s juicy, a touch salty, and the marbled fat melts in your mouth. Top it off with the Texan Pecan Pie for a perfectly Fort Worth meal on a perfect Fort Worth rooftop." - emily smith

8 Best Margaritas in Dallas | Eater

"This legendary Fort Worth restaurant is famous for serious Texas cuisine and some serious Texas drinks, too. Before you chow down on a 16-ounce, bone-in cowboy rib-eye, try the Millionaire margarita. A showcase of some of the best possible ingredients on offer, the drink is made with Sauza Tres Generaciones añejo tequila, Grand Marnier Cuvee du Centenaire, lime juice, and simple syrup. If you’re feeling extra-flush in Cowtown, splurge on Reata’s other showpiece margarita, the Billionaire margarita. Double the price of its $25 millionaire sibling, the Billionaire ups the ante even further, calling on Avion Reserva “44” tequila, Grand Marnier Cuvée 1880, lime juice, and simple syrup. The deep, roasted vanilla notes of the tequila are accentuated by the special cognac-heavy bottling of Grand Marnier, creating a margarita that’s complex and worth every penny." - Vox Creative

We have not been to Reata since my husband proposed and that was when they were at their prior location. 12 years later the food is still delicious! I will say the new location is not great and looses some of the romantic vibe. Seems a bit more casual than before, but we still enjoyed our night! Hopefully they move into a new building soon! The staff was welcoming and our waitress was great! We started off with an old fashioned and an Aperol spritz. My husband chose the cowboy ribeye and it was a perfect medium with great flavor! This came with a side of asparagus and a roasted type of mashed potatoes and they were the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had! So full of flavor. I had the fish of the day which was a swordfish with broccolini with rice! The sauce on the fish was a bacon cream sauce and so flavorful ! We ended our dinner with the chocolate tamale and it was wonderful! Thanks for providing a wonderful anniversary dinner experience!!!!

Great celebration brunch. We enjoyed the elk sausage gravy biscuits, vegetable soup, 1/2 club sandwich, sirloin tamale, chicken fries steak breakfast and dessert tamale. Will return. Decor is very interesting with cattle branding designs.

Among the first tier of restaurants in downtown, so if you're staying downtown, this is one of the must visits. Chicken fried steak was great. Pecan pie was also wonderful! Service was very friendly as to be expected in Texas.

This is always one of our go-to picks for a nice dinner for a special occasion in Fort Worth. The service is always friendly, professional, attentive, and hospitable. The food is delicious and fresh. The prices are high, but not over the top. One of our favorite things about Reata is the personal touch their staff will make when you come in for a special occasion (see photos). Please keep in mind that their new location is a little smaller, so plan ahead and make a reservation!

Had a fabulous dirty martini at the bar, along with the Caesar salad (a little too much dressing) and the bacon wrapped shrimp. It was so delicious. Highly recommend. There is valet parking or free parking in the Tower condo parking garage after 6 pm during the week or anytime on the weekend.

Our server was great. Atmosphere was good. The food was creative and spectacular. Had the redfish with pico de gallo sauce and was amazing. Delicious and top notch. Worth the price. We went on a Tuesday so it wasn’t very busy and it was easy to have a conversation in there.

Came to town for a concert, wanted an awesome steak from a local restaurant and not a chain. Decided to give Reata a chance. Being within walking distance from our Hotel, why Not Showed up and sat at the Open Bar, all the Bartenders were very alert and eager to help and serve us Zero complaints with their service Apps came out, bacon wrapped Jalapeño stuffed with crab cake mixture. Served with grits Delicious Salad was served next, we opted for the wedge. Very good and well presented salad with great flavor from the dressing My wife ordered to redfish & I ordered a 16oz Ribeye at $3.50 a pound. Why not, we’re on a weekend getaway. When the food came out the Redfish looked great, my steak on the other hand was cooked fine. This was confirmed by the food runner having me cut into it while he reached over my back with a flashlight to help verify? Well it was cooked med-well and looked good but for a $56-$58 steak there was a burnt end that is normally the CAP on a ribeye, my favorite part and indication of a great cut of Beef Well there was none at all Just gristle and burned shriveled gristle around the edge I asked about the Cap and the young man asked me what I was talking about. Clearly he has never cut a ribeye steak or knew anything about what the best part of a ribeye is Either way the bartender sent it back and knew what I was talking about and I figured it would be back quickly Well after 15min my wife was done eating, my steak was still MIA and we were ready to go Told the bartender I no longer wanted the steak and was ready to for the check About 5 minutes later my steak showed up. We were not paying for it because after waiting so long I had lost my appetite. Stinks because we purposely did not eat a lunch because we knew we would go eat something really good together with No kids Well I ate a few bites of my wife’s redfish and was full after waiting so long We were asked if we wanted the new steak boxes up, we are in a Hotel and for the price we were not interested Homestly speaking, I have had waaaaay better steak at Texas Road House. The steak I was given was a $20 steak at most It was the type of Ribeye that when you are looking at Ribeyes to buy you Pass this type up and never think twice I buy them on clearance and cut them up for stew meat Not to serve my family Most upsetting issue was that not Once did any form of Management come talk to us or try and make it right Tonight was a complete failure on the kitchen managers part and the managers part Their employees can only do So much and without support in tough situations like this they should be ashamed Will be back one day but will not order a steak from here ever again Sucks cause I was really looking forward to a juicy steak

Google
This is a nice spot for after work happy hour or a nice dinner with your loved one. It's centrally located next to Sundance Square. I had the citrus crusted chicken, and it was superb. I will be back to try the other dishes. Our waiter Elliott was a jewel, very manerable and patient.

Yelp
It's been years since I last ate at Reata. The restaurant has changed locations, but the attention to detail is still there. Prior to dinner I enjoyed a Birds and the Bees. It's like a Moscow Mule, but with Old Forester bourbon - one of my favorites. Dinner was a feast. More than I could eat actually. I enjoyed the bacon wrapped shrimp and tenderloin tamal as appetizers. For my main course I selected the jalapeno crusted red fish - DELICIOUS. I skipped dessert because I just didn't have room. Tragic in many ways, because I was anxious to give the apple crisp a try. Next time, I guess.

Yelp
This last week was our first visit to Reata since the move to their new location. For the food, our party found things to be hit and miss as far as overall quality. As for the location, it is a real letdown and step down from the wonderful and creative space they had on Sundance Square. Service was spotty. First the food. Started with drinks. The Texas 75 was very popular with the ladies in our group. I had the Fort Worth Old Fashion and it was the best Old Fashion I have ever had. I don't know why but it was. I had a cup of the Jalapeno Cilantro soup to start. To tell the truth, I could not tell that there was either jalapeno or cilantro in it. It was just this thick, almost gravy, greenish liquid with little to no flavor. My wife had the Field Greens with Texas Goat Cheese, San Saba Pecans. The greens were fresh and plentiful, loads of pecans. But the goat cheese was barely noticeable, not at all what salads like that should be. So give it a B- at best for starters. After appetizers, I ordered a glass of wine to accompany my entre. Our server said he would bring it right away. It came just at about the time the entrées had been finished and plates cleared. For main courses, my wife had the Tenderloin Tamales. There are three of them and they are very large and extremely good. She could only finish one of them, so the other two were packed up and taken home for dinner for both of us the next night. A+. I had the Jalapeño Cilantro Crusted Texas Red Fish. Again, perhaps they forgot to put any jalapeno or cilantro in it, because neither flavor was there. But, worst of all is that the redfish was way way way overcooked, to the point where it lost flavor of any kind. If we were not going to the theatre after and had more time, I would have sent it back. D- Of the others in our party, by far the best dish looked to be the Carne Asada topped with Reata's Cheese Enchiladas. Because things were a bit slow, we had no time for dessert. Plus, our server took a good 15 minutes between taking credit cards and finally getting them back for signing. One other comment on service, our waiter began by taking all of our orders, then 10 minutes later he came back and said he had lost the paper he had written on, so could we all order again. So, service throughout was somewhere between incompetent, lazy and slow. Now the décor. The old location was creative, expansive, varied by location and not crowded or jammed in. This new space is much much smaller, pretty much exchangeable in terms of look and feel with any ordinary western theme steakhouse. And, we felt the tables were really jammed together, perhaps compensating for how small it is compared to the Sundance Square location. All of this said, I can't see myself ever returning when there are so many better restaurants at this price range within a few blocks in downtown Fort Worth.

Yelp
It was orchestra night at the Bass concert Hall, so we basically had to make the best of it and we wanted to see the new location. Kaly was amazing as our server . She did an amazing job, there was only one little issue but she took care of it right away So we ordered dinner and we had the following Elk sausage Pork tamales Jalapeno Cheese Grits And for dessert we had the Pecan Tart The new location while it does not have the outside terrace, was very comfortable. Plenty of seating, you did not feel like you were crowded, and the bar up front was very impressive. The ambiance was nice. Not too dark. And easy to walk around. The establishment was not loud, so that was a big plus In the new location it was still easy to get to all the downtown attractions, parking is a normal downtown Fort Worth parking issues, but this new location is still gray But I recommend this place, absolutely you have to go. Especially the grits. You got to try the grits

Yelp
Came here for dinner. Very nice restaurant and good service. Prices were on the higher side but still not bad. I got the tamales for appetizers and the fish special for dinner. The red fish was tasty but kinda salty. The tenderloin tamales were delicious. Very good meal!

Yelp
A nice fine dining restaurant in downtown Fort Worth. Tex Mex style with lots of history. They do have the patio terrace on second floor. Opt for inside, AC dining. Service was excellent. From the door to the table. The manager and server kept checking on you. As many of the down town establishments, the menu is on the expensive side. Ordered the favorite, Carne Asada with enchilada. Giant portion, Texas style. The whole meat under the cheese almost covered the whole plate. The gave you two giant cheese enchiladas on the top. The bread is very good. The tortilla soup is okay. Overall, very good dining experience.

Yelp
We had another amazing Reata experience. I ate to many biscuits as usual. They are so good with the herbed butter. The tenderloin was really delicious and I did take half home. We had the best server Scott and received a visit from the manager also named Scott. I was so happy to get another Chance to eat at the Sundance square location once more. The service is really outstanding and the food is delicious. I will be at the new location as soon as it opens. Oh the deserts are incredible I need to start with desert and see if I am still hungry!

Yelp
After doing some browsing I decided to book a reservation at Reata for me and my girlfriend's little 6 month anniversary date. I booked the reservation on open table and requested to be seated up stairs under the glass dome, however a day before Reata called me to tell me they had a special event in the dome that night so we wouldn't be able to sit there. Definitely disappointing especially since this was our first visit to Reata, so we sat inside downstairs instead. We arrived about 10 mins early but we're sat immediately which was good, the server was very nice and quite knowledgeable about the menu, she checked on us frequently great service. We started with the complimentary corn bread and rosemary butter yummy! I ordered the Pepper crusted Filet with port wine sauce and it was sooooo delicious! The Filet was cooked a perfect medium rare and that port wine sauce had a deep flavor that i love, I definitely need that sauce recipe lol it also came with some good mash potatoes and veggies. I had the Malbec red wine to go with it which was very good. My girlfriend had the bacon wrapped shrimp and citrus crusted chicken with rosemary honey mustard sauce which she liked a lot also. Time for dessert! The server brought out the dessert tray and explained each option to us, we chose the bread pudding tamale with vanilla bean ice cream and OMG! This dessert was fantastic I would literally go back just to order this Lol . The bill ended up being $120 which honestly I thought was a fair value considering the quality of the food and service. I would definitely recommend Reata to friends and family and I expect to be back soon, don't hesitate to give Reata a try!

Yelp
We came here recently and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was romantic. We shared the tenderloin tamales, and they were downright AMAZING! They were filled with flavor, tender, and moist. The Pecan mash and sauce on top was the perfect compliment to the tamales. Warning: they are really big and filling! I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies, and it was the perfect combination. My partner had the carne asada and cheese enchiladas, and for being a steakhouse, they were some of the best enchiladas I have EVER had.

Yelp
We had the good fortune of meeting the owner Al while smoking a cigar before at three same time our group was telling us to meet them at Ruth Chris.... Ruth Chris? No no no, Al said go to his place and we will be well taken care of. Done. Table for eight! Done and done! Walked in and knew it was right. Huge as Texas and a fascinating menu with something for everyone! Al's son Mike took over and Destiny took such good care of our group. The must try's are: Fillet. Perfect Chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes fabulous Bacon wrapped shrimp... wow (and the fried onions underneath!) Ice cream tacos!!! All in all a great meal! Thank you Al!!!

Yelp
Just had the appetizer platter. Tamales were interesting but not killer. Calf fries and shrimp were killer good. Other items were very good. Plenty to share as a meal for 2. Amazing venue. Loved the decor and ambiance.
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
Good restaurant with enthusiastic customer service. The food was good overall from the appetizers to the main entree. Portions are large and definitely shareable. Would come back and order the charbroiled steak and bacon wrapped crab jalapeños next time. The tamales were ok but would not order again. The servers and manager checked on us frequently during dinner to ensure we were taken care of so that was a plus.

Yelp
Had a reservation for lunch and decided to cancel so we could eat earlier at a closer location to us in Ft Worth. We popped in after our earlier lunch for a margarita and was very happy we didn't have lunch here. The bartender was pretty rough around the edges and not worried about hospitality - or really us and our order in general. Management sat in the leather couches by the bar and proceeded to have full on conversations about their operations, beer delivery woes and missing bar carts. Extremely unprofessional. We felt as if we were having margaritas in their office. The employee conversations back and forth over us were also unprofessional. I shouldn't hear how upset you are with your work schedule while trying to enjoy my time as a guest. Heard great things about Reata initially, but obviously their legacy doesn't live up to their real time standards.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
We dined here for the first time before a concert at Dickie's arena and thought it was one of the very best meals we have ever had. The hospitality was on point from the moment we arrived. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. Because we knew we were going to indulge in dessert, we didn't order starters, but fully enjoyed the complimentary basket of fresh-baked muffins and bread. I decided on the carne asada with enchiladas for dinner and my husband couldn't resist ordering the chicken fried steak. Bring your appetite, because the portion sizes are huge! The food is absolutely delicious! Ordering from the dessert tray wasn't easy because everything looked amazing and our server's descriptions made our mouth's water. I ordered the West Texas pecan pie and my husband had the banana pudding. Both were out of this world! Definitely save room for dessert. You won't be disappointed!

Rachel D.

Yelp
We love eating at Reata's when we visit Ft Worth! As usual everything was amazing. We sat at the bar and service was great. Can't wait to go back... best enchiladas ever!!!!

Savvy E.

Yelp
Honestly just so mid not worth the hype. Service is good but the food is far from anything special.
google avatar

Yelp
This western themed restaurant is a must see in downtown Fort Worth. We started with a bowl of tortilla soup and loved the nice blend of spices. For an entree, we split the cornmeal crusted halibut with a lobster pico sauce on a bed of rice and broccolini. Absolutely delicious. The service team carried through with the southern hospitality. We can't wait to visit again soon.

Yelp
We will miss this location. We got married here in a private dining room and spent the last two wedding anniversaries here. The staff is top notch and the food never disappoints. We look forward to continuing our tradition at the new location!

Yelp
The Texan vibes are real at Reata, which is in the heart of downtown Fort Worth and has a storied history as well as a big local following. I enjoyed my experience here and the incredible building it currently resides in makes this a bonafide destination. This is perhaps one of the most versatile venues I've ever seen in the center of the city. There is no shortage of seats or space. Reata is so roomy that any group could come in and still manage to stretch out upon seating. The main dining hall commands a daily lunch crowd and the rooftop is the icing on the cake for special occasions, big groups, and romantic vibes. The taxidermy and unique decor practically screams Texas and makes for a decent photo op every time. The food is good overall, but I don't think it's their strongest suit. My group and I split a number of items such as their tortilla soup (so-so), calf fries with cracked pepper cream gravy (good but intimidating for less adventurous palates), tumbleweed onion rings (large, but not outstanding), jalapeño and cheese elk sausage (somewhat tasty). The start sample seems like the best idea appetizer wise, but at nearly $40 it's kind of pricey. Their chef's feature buffalo burger was somewhat of a letdown for how skimpy the patty was and the tenderloin tacos / tamales are a tad on the dry side. I do like their lunch enchiladas, be it the chicken tomatillo or carne asada, as they're both super tasty. Their steakhouse items are probably the signature dishes of the house, which include their blackened buffalo rib ($55), cowboy bone-in ribeye ($63), jalapeño and cilantro crusted Texas red fish ($31), and chicken chile rellenos with roasted corn chowder ($23). Service overall was quite good. They did a good job of answering questions, being friendly, and was extremely welcoming to our group of out of towners. I could see this place being a fun option for anyone coming to Fort Worth and think it would be a worthy addition to anyone's itinerary.

Steve H.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite downtown restaurant. For a while the food quality has gone downhill and the menu desperately needs an update. But it remained a reasonably reliable spot for good service in the dwindling options downtown. I used to love the rooftop bar, but was still happy they didn't leave the area when they moved. At least I was happy until this last visit. Took a group of 11 people there for a business dinner on December 2, 2024. People had flown in for dinner from multiple other cities so a new team could get to know each other. Reservations had been made months in advance. We walked in at the time of the reservation and were ushered two 2 round tables and told we had to split our group in two. This completely defeated the whole point of the evening. We asked if we could move to the plentiful square tables available at that time and move them together. The waiter said no. We asked if we could try to salvage the visit by at least moving the round tables so they were touching. The waiter stepped away to ask the manager and returned saying that the manager said no with no further explanation. The manager never bothered to come by the table to explain or apologize let alone try and make this right. The options are dwindling downtown, but there are still options. I won't be back to my former favorite restaurant.

Nick B.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, great food in a convenient location. A bit pricey, but that's expected for this type of restaurant. Would definitely recommend. FYI, the tenderloin tamales are HUGE! They are a meal for two in themselves so be careful.
google avatar

Grace O.

Yelp
Knowledgeable waiters, perfectly cooked food, great ambience and attention to detail all the way to the go boxes. We will definitely come back to try more dishes. I had the tamale appetizer and the portion was large enough to be a main course and it was a delicate flavorful tamale so I was happy. The grilled salmon with rice and perfect veggies is a must have. The crime brûlée a real treat!
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
I love love love the huge chicken fried steak. You can never go wrong with the Wedge salad or jalapeño cilantro soup - a few of my year-round favorites and my favorite wedge in fort worth with pico vingarette. Great service always, want to shout out Kelly, Coco, and other bartenders (I normally sit at bar). I like the house marg and house drinks. I need to try more of the desserts but usually just stop in for apps or lunch to go.

Yelp
Reata was recommended to us, so we decided to give it a shot since we were minutes away. We used valet which was perfectly located in the front of the restaurant. $15 Reata has that vintage, dark wood vibe. Instead of dining in the downstairs restaurant, we opt to go on the rooftop, which was beautiful. The sun was setting, and although a storm was coming, we were able to have a drink and eat our dinner with no rain. The view is beautiful. There's a dome where I saw a private event was being held, so we couldn't go in there. Our server, who seemed to be the bartender, was very nice. Food: * Tenderloin Tamales with Pecan Mash * Carne Asada with Cheese Enchiladas * Chicken Chile Rellenos with Roasted Corn Chowder * Ice Cream Taco The food was meh. The tamales were ok, the Chicken Rellenos was horrible, but the Carne asada with enchiladas was a hit. I ended up eating my friends dish instead. Overall, I'd return just to have a drink, but the food needs help. I like big bold flavors, and this restaurant did not deliver that. The food was bland.
google avatar

Yelp
THIS IS THE PLACE!! This place encompasses Fort Worth. I'm from out of town but this is my MUST stop for dinner while in FW. The food - perfection. The staff - kind and personable (we love to sit at the bar) The drinks - well made and great rotations of all sorts. We love the citrus chicken and the carne asada.

Yelp
We opted for the rooftop seating, which was nice because at the time the weather was perfect and the views of downtown ft worth were awesome. The waitress was nervous for whatever reason, so I told her some things that made her laugh and removed that nervousness. We laughed the entire night after that. We both got the daily special, which was absolutely amazing. I will say it is a bit on the pricey side and portions aren't big, but it was enough. I have no complaints and definitely plan on returning soon.

Yelp
Reata is a Fort Worth staple! It's located in the heart of Downtown Fort Worth but don't let that deter you. There is so many parking options available within a block of the restaurant and they do offer valet! While the menu prices may seem steep, the experience and food make it so worth it! I've been here a handful of times and each time is just as good as the last! I've dined here mostly for dinner and once for brunch. The restaurant is multiple levels, but the best is the rooftop! They have a dome room that is so cool to be in at night while you are dining. It's almost like dining under the stars (but with A/C ;) ). Our waiter was very attentive and able to answer any questions that we had, as well as made suggestions to our company who was visiting from out of town. The drinks and wine are great as well. For appetizers, we ordered the calf fries and the sausage. Both are very good and had great flavor! For my main entree, my go to meal is the carne asada and cheese enchiladas. OMG... they are delicious. The carne asada is cooked perfectly and with the combination of the cheese enchiladas underneath it, so good! We love coming to Reata when we have company in town and will continue to come back!

Yelp
Truly Fort Worth. From the older building to the inside decorations you feel you are sent back in time when cowboys rode their horses into town. We reunited with old friends and took the train from Grapevine to Ft Worth and it was that Texas experience we had hoped for. The restaurant has several individual rooms which is nice for parties. We had over 10 people so it was perfect. Service is pretty good but did slow as the restaurant got busy. Food is unique with a Texas, Mexican flare. The best thing were the tamales (both appetizer and dessert version). True to Texas, the Chicken Fried Steak was "as big as Texas" and very tasty. The fish was good but I have an onion intolerance and although I had asked them to hold the onions the dish was covered in them so I didn't get to enjoy very much of the dish. I will say all of the desserts were amazing and we had enough people that we tried all of them except for the pecan pie. They were the highlight of the dinner. It was expensive but not unexpected for the tourist section of Fort Worth.

Yelp
SERVICE: 5 out of 5. Friendly and prompt. AMBIANCE: 5 out of 5. Classy and very Texan. FOOD: 3 out of 5. It was just meh. Between the food and the drinks ordered, my favorite unfortunately was the unsweetened iced tea. Tenderloin Tamales: the portion was surprisingly big for an appetizer. It definitely qualified as a meal. It came with 3 tamales, however, I didn't enjoy the flavor combo but as I dug deeper, the flavor got a little better. I felt this is an acquired taste. Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños: the portion was also surprisingly big for an appetizer. It came with 3 bacon-wrapped jalapeños. I wished the bacon was cooked till dried because this dish was greasy and wet. Complimentary breads: I enjoyed this one. It came with red pepper butter. Overall, everything here is very Texan. Definitely a must-visit if you're around the area. The portions are big but then again... it's Texas!

Yelp
Food was great and the service was excellent. They have a wide selection of drinks. The view from the rooftop is amazing. The dome was a great dining experience for me as I have never experienced this ever in my life. However thanks to an amazing company I was fortunate enough to experience a great restaurant. The interior through out this place was unique. It resembled antiques and an upscale vibe.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening we experienced celebrating my brother-in-law's 78th birthday! Since my brother-in-law and I are both in wheelchairs the valet service was so welcomed curbside at the restaurant. The convenience was worth the price of valet parking. We were greeted by a friendly hostess. We had a party of 6 for the birthday celebration. Reata even "upgraded" us to one of their private dining rooms. It was so much quieter in our room versus the main dining room. The restaurant was really buzzing on a Friday evening. Maggie, our server, with the help of Nick took excellent care of us throughout our dining experience.. We expected nothing less from Reata. Maggie was very organized and took our drink orders with military precision. She let us know what the specials were for the evening. I had my heart set on Reata's peppercorn encrusted filet topped with a port wine sauce. That's one of Reata's staples and has been on the menu for a very long time. When Maggie described the "steak feature," she had me. It was a 6 ounce filet, topped with Oscar sauce, topped with 2 grilled shrimp and set on a bed of Reata's incredible mashed potatoes. Reata's grilled asparagus was also included with the special. Oh my, it sounded so delicious and I ordered it. While waiting for our entrees to arrived, I enjoyed a Macallan single malt scotch. Oh yummy. We all also enjoyed Reata's wonderful pecan biscuits. The butter they serve with the biscuits has a touch of red pepper in it. Yum! Our entrees arrived with extra servers helping Maggie out. My platter was perfectly presented. I always order my steaks rare. Many steakhouses always seem to overcook my steak a bit. Those of us who had steaks were asked to cut into our steak to ensure it was cooked as ordered. Reata nailed it, a perfect rare filet. The cut was SO tender, I barely needed a knife. It was so good, no seasoning was required. There was the perfect amount of Oscar sauce with crab meat topping the steak. The grilled shrimp were awesome. Lastly Reata makes the most incredible mashed potatoes. I believe they use whipping cream in them to make them so rich. I also loved the asparagus. Since this was my brother-in-law's birthday celebration, everyone decided to order dessert. My wife's opted for the cream brûlée and I couldn't pass up Reata's incredible Apple Crisp. Of course it was so decadent. Before we left, Scott, Reata's manager, came in to pay us a visit and ensure everything was perfect with our dining experience. Nothing could have made it more memorable. Everything was perfect from start to finish. I can't wait to return to Reata again real soon.

Yelp
Slightly upscale American restaurant with great interior decor and filling dishes! Reata is located in downtown forth worth, parking can be tricky here since it's all street. The inside is spacious with lots of seating, there is a fourth floor seating only available for dinner, we were able to go there to just take a look. It had bar seating and an indoor terrace seating. The menu has various American/Tex mex dishes, they also had brunch menu available when we came. I got the half and half with Turkey club and chicken tortilla soup ($15). We also got the appetizer platter to split. Each table comes with a basket of corn biscuits. The appetizer plate came with tamales, sausage, calf fries, and bacon wrapped shrimp. All were pretty heavy so definitely a plate to share with a group of people. My sandwich and soup combo was generous in portion! The chicken tortilla soup was spicy and good amount of chicken in it, a little too much tortilla chips but overall a filling soup. The Turkey club had generous portion of Turkey and cheese, loved how the bread was charred. Half of us took the entrees to go since portions were really large. Overall, a solid American eatery with good vibes and excellent dishes. Would love to try the enchiladas my next visit!

Yelp
Overall dining at Reata was great! We were set on the rooftop under the domed area which was amazing at sunset. Our waitress was super kind and helped us walk through some of the menu items. I got the citrus chicken and my boyfriend got a ribeye. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal, I was not much of a fan of the sauce on top of mine but still enjoyed it. Before the meal they gave us a mixed breads basket which was so yummy. We ordered espresso martinis which I highly recommend because they were possibly the best I have ever had. Overall would recommend Reata to friends or family!

Yelp
Great Place to eat if in downtown Fort Worth. The staff was excellent, the server was friendly and helpful. Drinks were good. Food was fantastic. Never felt rushed to order or eat. We had a cocktail prior to dining. We were able to enjoy our drink prior to ordering any appetizers or food. Our server never rushed us or made us feel like we needed to hurry. And the place was full!!! When our meal was served, we had the manager visit our table to see if everything was to our liking. The ambiance was perfect as well. If ever in downtown Fort Worth we would definitely recommend that you stop here for a meal. Many thanks to Aldo and the entire staff!!! Jeff and Patti B.

Yelp
Fabulous Tex Mex Fine Dining Tex Mex with a truly authentic vibe. Reata is a Ft. Wayne institution located in the heart of downtown. A perfect place for special occasions and tourists wanting to experience a true Texas Dinning experience.

Yelp
Sadly I was disappointed with the meal at Reata. I sat at the bar, since I was alone and didn't want to take up table space, and there were very few other patrons there. The two, young bartenders were a little difficult to get their attention to get simple things, but that's not uncommon in restaurants nowadays, so I am patient with that. Service is simply a lost art. However, the food was disappointing. I had the calamari appetizer and it was very "generic." It appeared, and tasted, as though it had come straight from the freezer, thrown into a deep fryer and then plated. There was no seasoning, no flavor, nothing. The wedge salad was equally disappointing but that could just be a matter of taste. The wedge salad comes with "pico vinaigrette" that is a little "odd" on a wedge, but if that's to your liking then it may work. But the plating was nothing special, just kind of thrown together. Lastly, I had the citrus crusted chicken for my main course. The chicken is ok, nothing special. Definitely didn't see/taste and "crust" and the green beans were undercooked (not al dente, just undercooked) and flavorless. The flavors here may be to the liking of some but it just fell flat for me. A little seasoning here or there could make this food pretty good but with all three items unseasoned, oddly paired and flavorless, I just couldn't give them a higher rating than a 3-star for this meal.

Yelp
This place is pretty neat. Embedded deep into downtown Ft.Worth, this is definitely a place to try. The service is fantastic, I don't think it gets much better. The ambiance is great, and makes the experience that much better. Lastly the food, the only reason it is not a 5 star review is because my steak was average. But for almost $40 I'd expect a bit more flavor and experience when preparing steak. I don't know, maybe it picky! I'll definitely be back though!

Yelp
Beautiful old style Fort Worth legendary restaurant. We had lunch for four "foodies" and deeply appreciated the service ( server John). The salads with steak were ample and delicious. One of our party had the tenderloin tacos and gave them two thumbs up. One of us ordered the jalapeño soup. Not quite hot enough but a big serving and not so spicy. Loved the biscuits with it. The famous appetizer tamales with pecan mash we were looking forward to trying were a sad hmmmmm. Not much flavor in my book. Three big tamales to share but I won't be ordering them again. We will be back to try the rest of the menu. Great place to take visitors

Yelp
My grandma and I came here for brunch/lunch while I was in town visiting. Everything was AMAZING! The portion sizes were HUGE......and I cannot stress that enough. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and the chocolate lava cake we had for dessert was delicious!

Yelp
We LOVE this place. The food is absolutely amazing. This is one of our favorites. The tamales, the drinks, the steak, and the Chile relleno is my favorite. My family comes all the time, it is one of our very favorites. The atmosphere is BEAUTIFUL, and we especially love sitting in the dome. The service is consistently amazing!

Yelp
Great lunch spot. The food was amazing from the jalapeño elk sausage I had for an appetizer to the stacked chicken enchiladas I enjoyed for lunch. The service was great and the manager even came over to check if we were okay and offer additional great service. Very relaxed environment, quiet, perfect for a good lunch or even something more intimate. Check it out!

Yelp
Really let down by food quality, primarily the steaks. I was with a group of 7, and 5 of us ordered some type of steak. Four of them were overdone. I ordered mine medium and it came out pretty close to well done (no pink). They do ask you to "cut into" your steak when delivered and I should have sent mine back... but hate doing that. One person in our group sent hers back, and asked for a new one (can't un-cook it!) She eventually told them to keep it, because she didn't want to be eating when the rest of us had finished. And this one blew me away... as I said, they asked us to cut into our steak, well one person cut into their steak and it was medium well instead of medium. The waiter actually took the cut steak and gave it to another person at the table who ordered it medium well... even though there were different sides! And the steak didn't just have a small cut... it had multiple cuts because the patron was checking different parts of the steak for done-ness. This is not a cheap restaurant, so we were all let down that the meal didn't match the price. Another HUGE problem is that we were seated under the dome on the roof. This was pretty cool, and would probably be awesome in winter months. But the issue we all had was the terrible acoustics. The dome amplifies the noises and discussions from other tables. I honestly could hear the conversation at the table next to me better than the conversation at my own table! The center of the dome sucks! This is a nice place, with a great outdoor roof-top for dining. The staff was friendly, but not trained well. Improvement is needed. I would recommend having a drink at the roof top bar, but would pass on the meal.

Yelp
Went to dinner for a work function. The staff were very attentive and offered quick suggestions to our questions for the menu. Ambiance is what you would think at a Texan restaurant. It was clean and seemed to have a decent amount of seating. The portion sizes are quite healthy so be prepared to not be able to finish your plate. The food was great. I had the citrus chicken with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. It was delicious. I'm disappointed that I couldn't finish it all. For dessert I had the banana pudding. Also, very delicious. I wish I had enough room in my stomach to be able to finish everything because it was just so good. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
The place was great, atmosphere delightful, server was nice and on point mostly. I didn't like my drink and was never asked about it or had the opportunity to get something else, there sat a full martini all night. Disappointing. We had a larger group so gratuity was automatically included. We had drinks and appts and main course and even dessert... all was good....Until we got home and several of us were sick. So unfortunately I won't be back.

Yelp
Bar view: Single dining @ bar. This barkeep: good. Foo: good. Kitchen timing was not. @ 3 bites of my salad n entree was delivered. No effort to address. I was told "I rang it in separate, they shouldn't have done this." Would have thought it would be better with the star rating. It was just good.

Yelp
Have eaten at Reata twice and had the best experience each time! First was to celebrate a birthday and I had my baby with us, they were so friendly and accommodating, and brought a birthday dessert for my mom. Second time was to celebrate my anniversary and our server Alex was excellent. Very attentive, provided great recommendations, and had everyone sign a card for us. Waters were refilled promptly and we were checked on often. Food and drinks were delicious - tried the bacon wrapped shrimp, carne asada, filet special and salmon another time. The dessert tacos are a must. Would highly recccimend for a special occasion!
