I've been to Forecasters Pub a few times lately, and it's not quite as high on my list as it used to be. The food is still excellent, though the choices are a bit limited, and prices have crept up...$15 for a burger and fries is getting a little steep, along with $5.50 for a pint of beer or $8 for a beertail. Choice-wise, my go-tos are the Yardbird or the Kentucky Chicken Sandwich. I still like a few Red Hook beers, but the majority are just in the average range now. Taster flights are just the basics, no substitutes. Service is still very good, and wait staff is friendly and prompt. There is both a large indoor dining area and a sizeable patio. The patio often has live music, though this can be a downside if you're seated directly in front of the musicians as my party was this most recent time. The speakers were up loud enough for the whole patio to hear, but drowned out all conversation at our table and got a little bothersome after awhile. I've also taken the "tour" before, but it was a bit less than I envisioned. It's really just $5 to get a few beer samples, hear some fun facts about the company, and look through a window at the brewing operation, not an actual tour of the facilities. I'm saddened that the experience at Red Hook has started to decline, but with operations moving to Capitol Hill, I can't help but wonder how long-term the company envisions for Forecasters.
