"After a day of accidentally swallowing too much salt water, you’ll likely be craving oysters, clams, maybe some lobster for good measure, and a plastic bib. Red’s in Point Pleasant is one of the best places in the area to get all of these things. This super-popular dockside seafood shack offers raw seafood, fried fish, sandwiches, lobster mac and cheese, seafood pastas, and whatever got pulled out of the local waters that morning. For the first time, Red’s is now offering both a full-bar and reservations. While we’ll miss the BYO option, this could prove helpful, as waits to get a table have historically been long. "If you didn’t swallow too much salt water during your beach day, you’ll likely be craving oysters, clams, and maybe some lobster for good measure. Red’s in Point Pleasant is one of the best places in the area to get all of those things. This popular dockside seafood shack previously operated separate menus inside and out, however, they now have both the dockside classics (like fried fish, a raw bar, and sandwiches) available alongside the lobster mac and cheese, seafood pastas, and whatever got pulled out of the water that morning—especially lobsters available in all sizes. Although reservations can be difficult, Red’s is great for groups. It’s also a BYO, so make sure you have a bottle of wine or four in tow." - Michael Sinatra

Great place! Found them after a friend recommended this place. We came before the big storm this weekend and the manager said they only had outdoor seating available and if it rained they wouldn’t be able to move us. Either way we were seated outside and our waitress was the best, even the two gentlemen helping her. We ordered the oysters. Calamari and the lobster bisque soup. And for entrees we did the lobster roll ( wished the bread was a little more toasted) and the stuffed shrimp

First time here, and won't be the last!!! Not one complaint. Food was great, service was excellent, and views on the patio were awesome. Probably the best lobster roll I've ever had; they even give the choice of butter or mayo. The old fashioned cocktail did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back to this spot!!!

Google
Always solid fresh seafood. Enjoyed the mussels appetizer. Went with the fried seafood platter. Includes a piece of flounder, scallops and shrimp. Fries and coleslaw included. Was very good. The Mrs went with the same only broiled. Can’t go wrong at Red’s. Fresh local seafood. Staff was friendly and it’s nice dining on the water. Also they are now serving drinks.

Google
Some of the best seafood in the area! We had a delightful dinner here. Sure, it was a Friday and the start of Memorial Day weekend, but we were able to get a reservation. The staff seemed overwhelmed and I’m pretty sure we were forgotten about at it took 30 minutes before we had any drinks at the table. It was an hour before any food came. Besides the sluggish service the staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were very good and made correctly. All of the food was exquisite and perfectly cooked to specifications. All of the seafood was very fresh and delicious. The steak was some of the best we have had in the area. We look forward to going back again when it is less busy.

Google
Went here during MDW after a beach/crabbing day and we had an amazing time! The food was superb and fairly priced. We sat at the high top bar against the end of the deck overlooking the water - it was beautiful! The service was also amazing. I will definitely be back!

Google
My favorite seafood spot down the shore. Get the lobster roll! If you don't eat bread, they can put it in a lettuce wrap and really load it with lobster. The key lime pie is also amazing, just like going to Key West.

Terri “Me” Merone

Ate here again....we come to Point Pleasant every September. This has been our yearly stop the last 5 years. Never disappoints!! Food is great, service outstanding!! Wish we lived closer....but looking forward to next September! Note: Make a reservation!!

Google
Great atmosphere and weather! The fish and chips were amazing and lobster sandwich was really good. Would definitely come here again.

Yelp
Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 3/5 With a bar/outdoor seating view overlooking the water and an air conditioned inside seating area if you're so inclined, Red's is a good option for a sit-down restaurant at the shore. Although we got there really early (around 4:30), it was already packed. We had to sit inside, which was a bit cramped but also nice and cool. I got the fish of the day, which was cooked well, although the rice it came with was really bland (and I saved my calories by not eating all of it). That said, the fish was bursting with flavor and expertly cooked. My kids got salmon and fish and chips and both of those were even better. The salmon flaked apart and had a perfectly balanced lemon sauce that added just enough acidity but avoided being too sour. The batter covering the fish (of fish and chips) was really good (clearly made onsite) and the fries remained nice and crispy (I bemoan soggy fries that often accompany this meal). My wife got the risotto - a tough thing to cook right - and was very pleased with it. The waiter was also really nice and engaging, helping a long wait for the food fly by. My other relatives got shellfish (which I don't eat), but I'd note it was a good price and they were very happy with their meals too. This is definitely a place I'd visit if you venture off the boardwalk.

Yelp
As a lifelong New Jersey resident I am sorry I've only discovered this place recently. The food and service is excellent. I had the seafood burrito and it was prepared perfectly. My girlfriend had the crabcake sandwich and absolutely loved it (she can be picky sometimes). I recommend Red's Lobster Pot and can't wait to visit again!

Brian S.

Yelp
Red's has now added a bar outside and is no longer a BYOB establishment. Right on the water very quaint. As far as the food goes they are hitting it out of the park with their seafood and pasta dishes. Just take a look at my photos attached, simply mouth watering. Dinner now includes the price of alcohol which drives the overall price up for sure but worth the price of entry for a relaxing seafood dinner on the Jersey shore..

Scott R.

Yelp
Love this place and it got even better! They added a full bar and even more outdoor seating. This place has the best local seafood and specials. The flat iron steak and bacon wrapped scallops was amazing!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Welcoming front of house, great I mean really great service inside. The food was amazing. My husband and I shared the coconut shrimp (which were huge). We both had the "Daily catch" which was Halibut. I have mine broiled his was blackened. Both were equally good. I had broccoli he had sautéed spinach both amazing prepared. I had rice (a little over spiced) he had the mash potatoes (excellent). The asked use right away if we wanted bread which is a surprise these days. We also ordered a nice bottle of Stags leap Chardonnay which we didn't finish. Our waitress (Cathrine) put it in a clear bag with the receipt for transport. I have also had the lobster many times , a great deal and very good every time.

Yelp
First trip to Reds, and won't be the last. Nice waterfront seating with roll up plastic windows which were needed when big storm came in. My wife's flounder francaise was excellent, and my stuffed flounder was great, too. Firm, fresh filets with delicious rice pilaf. However, broccoli was steamed with raw garlic that was a bit biting... though was al dente. Both entrees were delivered hot to the table. The bread to start the meal, curiously, was kinda stale; unfortunate, bc we wanted to dip into the delicious francaise sauce. Our server was efficient but not overly friendly, unlike every other employee that we encountered. Overall, a great restaurant meal for us.

Yelp
What a great shore restaurant! From the overall welcoming porch with red awnings and signage to the boats parked dockside and sunset seating this is just a great place. We did not have a reservation but that did not seem to be a problem. They were able to seat us right away on the porch. The menu is not large but it is chock full of delicious choices that are focused on fresh seafood. They had a weekly specials menu as well which gave us even more options to try to decide over! We chose the Fried Clams from the regular appetizer menu and a special PEI mussels in a spicy marinara sauce with bacon and potatoes. Sounds odd but wow what a savory, hearty but light dish. The fried clams were crispy and served with lemon and a side of tartar sauce. We also got a side of cocktail sauce too. They were tender and delicious. Even my 10 year old enjoyed them and she doesn't eat seafood unless it's a frozen fish stick. As for entrees my daughter got a classic kids menu option, pasta with butter and cheese which she was very happy with. My husband had the Lobster Ravioli which was in a pink vodka sauce. It was filing but seemed to be a little inconsistent as some of them seemed to have a nice chunk of lobster where others didn't. Seeing that there were only 5 that was a little odd. Overall he enjoyed them and said they were enjoyable! I chose their classic Lobster Roll but opted for the lettuce 'boat' served cold in mayo which was a perfect combination/substitution. Crispy baby romaine leaves cradled a very generous portion of lobster in dressing. I added some Cole slaw and devoured it. The dish came with what seemed like fresh cut French fries. If they were frozen I'd be surprised. Pricing was average for a fresh seaside seafood restaurant. The appetizers were between $15-20 each and entrees ran in the high $20's. The daily lobster special was $44 for a 1.5lbs lobster with corn on the cob and slaw just for reference. Our server Sandy was just a sweet as can be. Obviously a seasoned staff member she was happy to give us time as well as answer questions about the menu. Runners and busers were friendly and added to the enjoyment of the evening. There was no room for dessert although they had a few amazing looking offerings! Maybe next time!

Yelp
Hi. Marisa, My wife and I were at Red's Lobster Pot today for lunch. I had the Steamers and the fresh fish sandwich. My wife had fish and chips. Of course the Steamers were the best and the fish sandwich was also very good. The fish and chips was also such a large portion my wife had to take half of it home. I was at PT at RWJ this morning and 2 of the therapist also eat at Red'. Service was very good and sitting outside is wonderful. The place is so clean. Jeff

Yelp
10/10 dining experience. It is no longer BYOB, but their cocktails are delicious. All of the food was fresh and amazing. Definitely the best seafood around. Outdoor seating was very nice on the water. Servers were attentive.

Mary B.

Yelp
Food was fine. Service so so. Had to go to host to get the bill. Waitress completely forgot about giving us the bill. Probably will not come back here. Shrimp box is much better

Nancy A.

Yelp
Overpriced tourist trap and I'm a local, I should have known better. I ordered blackened halibut that was bland and dry and served with frozen broccoli not fresh. We sat indoors which was very cramped and loud. Sorry for the bad review but I don't like being ripped off.

Eric B.

Yelp
Food sucked and service was horrible better off going to the Shrimp Box . Or Bonefish Grill not worth your hard earned money. Horrible

Tamara K.

Yelp
Regular customer at Red's! I come weekly for the food, ambience and service. Super causal atmosphere and refreshing sitting on the water. Red's is always busy, all day everyday. I recommend to always make a reservation to secure great seating. New bar is fabulous! Lots of wonderful cocktails, sangria and beverages! I always order the lobster ravioli, Peel and eat shrimp and the daily special salad to get us started. The portion sizes will be enough to share for a table of 4. I like the lobster bisque as well. The food is fresh and full of flavor. I always order the lobster roll or stuffed shrimp for my meal. But frankly everything on the menu is delicious and tasty. French fries are also cooked fresh. Lovely selection of food for kids including chicken fingers, hot dogs and burgers. Portion size is generous and usually priced right. I have never had a bad meal. I have never experienced bad service, the staff is super friendly and always hustling to serve the customers. The restaurant is always clean. HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
4 Sept. 2024 - Lunch Take-Out. While the food was good, if you order from Mike, who appears to be managing the restaurant, ensure you double check before leaving as today I ordered the broiled scallop seafood platter but Mike entered the order wrong with shrimp, scallops, and fish. When I phoned, Mike said it was a miscommunication and offered no apology. In hindsight, I regret not checking the order before leaving but the kitchen was slow in getting the food and I was in a rush to get the food to my wife who is recovering.

Kathy R.

Yelp
My first time at Red's and it won't be my last! The food was excellent from the appetisers through to dessert. I enjoyed shellfish for apps, had salmon and Risotto for my main and had deliciou Key Lime Oie fir dessert, Our server, Bridget, was terrific. She was friendly, very attentive, and made the experience more enjoyable. The ambiance was typical shore seafood style, but very clean and organized. Definitely a winner!

Julianna M.

Yelp
This place was great! We called ahead to see if it was BYOB (which it was but they also have sangria and some wines available). The guy we spoke to knew we didn't have a reservation and added us to the list knowing we'd be there in 15 minutes which was so greatly appreciated. We got seated out on the terrace and had a view of the water, all the tables outside have umbrellas making it such a nice night. We ordered the cornbread special which was good, I wish it was warm and came with a side of butter but I would get it again. I got the warm lobster roll and it was stuffed with lobster gotta give this 10/10. I will definitely be back.

Bill L.

Yelp
Food is a 10 out of 10, service is 10 out of 10, ambience 10 out of 10, parking 7 out of 10 (especially with a full size pickup).

judy f.

Yelp
Food ok. Paid $18 for Long Island ice tea....outrageous. Not worth it...beware. Slow service. Don't expect much.

Therese W.

Yelp
Beautiful pre season night to sit by the water. Great fresh food, friendly staff. I like the options to customize the menu. Very relaxed atmosphere, not rushed

Holly F.

Yelp
Totally forgot to take pictures since I was enjoying my dining experience so much! Food was amazing especially the grilled oysters special appetizer. I had the fish and chips for my entree and they were perfection. Our server was super attentive and friendly! I love the casual but cute vibe of the place. My family and I loved it here and we will definitely be coming back!

Michael R.

Yelp
The food and service are fantastic great lobster ravioli. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Harry S.

Yelp
I ordered the lobster roll and the lobster ravioli. The lobster raviolis were served with the creamiest tomato vodka sauce that paired brilliantly with the lobster inside the ravioli. Did not waste a scrap of sauce on the plate as I scraped it all with bread. Lobster roll was also fantastic. Not much to say here, lobster rolls are all about freshness of the lobster. Extremely fresh, lightly coated in mayo and lemon juice, the roll is a must get if you decide to come here. Cheers!

Jamie L.

Yelp
flavors were great but the clam chowder was sandy fried clams were phenomenal they serve cocktails now -no longer byob

Mary R.

Yelp
Sorry, Reds. Despite the great casual atmosphere, attentive service and BYO status, from a vegetarian's point of view, you fail to impress and would earn a 1 star in food choices. Due to lack of veggie options, I had corn on the cob as an appetizer (over cooked and flavorless). I had the special Mexican salad, which was romaine lettuce, plain, unseasoned canned black beans, plain unseasoned canned corn, and a couple of halved cherry tomatoes. Super boring. Even the bread was pretty bad by NJ standards . Only vegetarian options on the menu were rigatoni with vodka sauce, which is so boring and a risotto which didn't seem very encouraging. My fish- eating friends were pleased, but I will not be going back.

Joanne D.

Yelp
I love reds!!! The vibe is right It's the perfect location for summer!! It's in the fishing village part of point pleasant! It's not summer until you come here totally causal with your favorite bottle of rose wine It's byOB The staff is so helpful The lobster cake is delicious The coconut shrimp is so fresh and big Salad has amazing dressing I'm sorry no food at the point is amazing with atmosphere and on the water and a summer vibe So depending what your looking for this is not a fancy fine dining It's not the best food you will ever have It's not luxurious bUT it screams summer and an amazing meal! Odetta was our wonderful waitress

Meg L.

Yelp
Pros: the view at sunset, food came out fairly quick, good food portions Cons: service (went without a water refill for most of the meal), food quality was inconsistent (salmon and crab cakes were excellent; shrimp francaise breading was mushy and had no lemon flavor at all; broiled seafood was tasteless, almost as if it were frozen first; rice side dish was flavorless. Overall, the only reason I could see people choosing to come here is because it's a few dollars less per plate than most of the surrounding restaurants.

Luke S.

Yelp
The lobster roll was the best lobster roll I've ever had.also came with fries which is a bonus

Michele B.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Beautiful atmosphere. All the seafood is fresh. Service was good. Great place to go for lunch or dinner. My husband had Zuppa di pesce and I had stuffed flounder. We also had oysters which were yummy. And, now they have a bar too!

Jamie S.

Yelp
First time here. Never heard of the place but was excited to try. Was able to make a reservation on the busy holiday weekend which is helpful because some places by the beach you can't. We did get there early, but they had us wait and we were taken by our reservation time. This place has pretty views right on the water. Pretty casual ambiance, nothing fancy or luxurious. The menu had a nice variety. Also I believe it was byob but they offered a wine list as well? I got seafood with a the vegetables. The scallops were awesome but the broccoli was really undercooked which was disappointing. I'd try something else next time.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great service. I had a shrimp roll with fries and slaw - I would probably stick with lobster roll next time but this was a generously packed roll and the shrimp was fresh - the peach burrata salad special was good - save room for dessert - key lime pie and a delicious rich dense chocolate cake - share the desserts - big pieces!

Pedro P.

Yelp
This was our second visit. Well I will say is $110 was a rip off for three of us. I had the dried out crabcake sandwich with an over abundance of fries and a huge roll. My wife had the lobster roll for $30 with supposed 1 pound meat also with a huge roll that overpowered the lobster, my son had the shrimp sandwich which seemed to be pretty good and we had the ceviche appetizer which was microsize surrounded by a bunch of corn chips will not return. Tourist trap.

M R.

Yelp
Food, service & location is perfect. Never been disappointed! Waitstaff always knowledgeable and smiling.

GMom D.

Yelp
Can never say enough about this beautiful restaurant! Mother's Day dinner today was absolutely delicious generous stuffed shrimp and flounder Francis to begin outstanding corn and fresh coke slaw perfect day perfect setting wonderful attentive friendly wait staff. Marissa and her team never disappoints and we appreciate the extra help with the reservation. So so happy reds is open for the season and we will return over and again!

Lara K.

Yelp
Waited for over 20 min after being seated and no server came up to us, not even with menus. Ended up asking for menus and not getting them for another 5+ minutes and got up and left. It wasn't busy at all and there were multiple free servers standing around talking.

Josh A.

Yelp
Sat on the inner dining area that was slightly chilly to others in my party. Started with apps, calamari and lobster ravioli in ala vodka sauce. Calamari had a light batter, and the ravioli had nice chunks of lobster in a flavorful sauce. Onto entrees, I had the lobster roll. Big fresh chunks of lobster, until you remember...it's a lobster roll, buttered bun and lobster and that's it. Tastes great, not real flashy. My nephew had an ala vodka pasta he enjoyed. The wife had the fish and chips on a whim. She was pleased with its light, flaky texture. My mother in law had the zuppa de pesce. Massive chunks of seafood (scallops like your fist) in a white sauce with pasta. Everyone was more than happy with their entrees. Service was friendly and thorough, a bit lagging around check time. This can be overlooked based on the meal. Highly recommended if you're in the Pt. Pleasant area. 4.5

Lori C.

Yelp
The folks at Red's Lobster Pot were amazing! We were a party of 10, right at noon, upon opening on Saturday afternoon. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Two people in our party have Celiac's and they really enjoyed themselves and found lots on the menu to choose from. The food was excellent from appetizers (coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail, mussels (two kinds), garlic bread, to main courses (lobster, lobster ravioli, shrimp scampi, fish tacos, grilled chicken sandwich, twin lobster tails), fresh and delicious! The sangria was lovely (red and white). It was a very special birthday celebration for our family, and I am so glad we chose Red's! We will be back for sure! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

Earl S.

Yelp
Red's Lobster Pot is beautifully upgraded, clean with friendly service. The fresh seafood and lovely view can be beat. Thoughtfully priced wine list and attention to detail, a must stop in Point Pleasant Beach.

Chip P.

Yelp
Had dinner at Red's to celebrate my wife's birthday. it didn't disappoint. Luckily we had a table that was outside but protected from the cool NE winds. We started with steamed little necks and lobster bisque, both were well seasoned and delicious. My wife chose the hot lobster roll, could have used a few pieces of tail in addition to claw meat, and I the fried shrimp and scallops which were slightly over done. My wife ordered a glass of Chardonnay at $18 was overpriced. Our server was fine considering how busy they were. Will go back when the weather clears to enjoy the view of the marina.

Steven H.

Yelp
Wow. What a disappointment. This place is a big disappointment compared to the way it used to be. Pre-COVID, this place had some of the best lobster around. Not anymore. For these prices, you can find better just about anywhere else. I can't speak to the food that isn't lobster.

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Intimate in doors. They allow you to bring your own wine. Lobster bisque is the best I've had. Great service here too. Get an early dinner and watch the sunset.

Edward G.

Yelp
My wife and I (and our grown kids when they're back home) have been going to Red's regularly for 6-7 years. My wife and I went tonight to close out the season. I realized why Red's has been so special to us. None of our friends have waterfront homes. When we go to Red's it's like we're being hosted by friends who are welcoming, warm and friendly, in an unassuming home with a great view, who are also great cooks. Red's, have a wonderful off-season. God willing, we'll see you next Spring.

Emily R.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Servers are very friendly. Outside seating area right next to the water is beautiful. We had the shrimp roll, lobster roll, and stuffed flounder and ALL were great. We were scared of the stuffed flounder due to the "basil" sauce and none of us really love basil but it was SOOOO delicious.

Heather B.

Yelp
I came here about a month ago with my family and we all had an excellent time! We split 12 clams on a half shell and an order of the grilled oysters that I believe were a special at the time. The clams were lovely and the oysters were amazing!! They were stuffed with toppings and came out perfectly!! Some of my family got the lobster rolls which were perfectly made, while I got the fish tacos that were a special at the time. The fish tacos were amazing! They came with cabbage, mango/pineapple, and a delicious sauce! They were so yummy and super filling! we came for lunch during the week and it wasn't super crowded, we were able to get a table outside with no problem, the service was super fast and the staff was great!! The views from the outside area are amazing and there are plenty of umbrellas to keep you in the shade! overall it was a lovely experience! (it is also a BYOB)

JoAnne M.

Yelp
My son took us here when we visited the area. The lobster Alfredo was delicious. We were worried we wouldn't get enough lobster meat but we were so wrong. Large meaty pieces were plentiful. Our waitress was lots of fun, had a great sense of humor. We sat outside to enjoy the harbor view ambiance. Will definitely go back there again. Oh, this is a byob so keep that in mind if you enjoy wine with your meal.

Josh B.

Yelp
Procedures as of August 2020: The order at the counter setup has been replaced by full service, with reservations required via Resy. On a Wednesday around 6 I heard customers discussing that it was possible to just wait without a reservation, I can't confirm or deny if that's true but that might be a weekday-only exception. I opted for takeout and ate on a rock in a nearby park. Online ordering is available but I prefer the spontaneity of just walking up, and for this weekday time slot, it was quick overall. Food: The menu ranges from seafood shack classics to more composed entrees with vegetables, sauces and other high-end features, encompassing the two sides of the old setup. I haven't branched out much since the 3 hour trip from Jersey City doesn't allow for frequent visits. The cold lobster roll remains excellent, using advanced seafood science to add the tiniest amount of frills necessary - mayo and perhaps chives - to enhance but not distract from the fresh lobster meat. The fries are also an unforetold success. It appears the classic peel-and-eat shrimp with an Old Bay vibe is no longer. I don't know if I should have gotten the grilled shrimp or something more glamorous than the shrimp cocktail, but I can say this was a quite a good rendition, and the last time I saw shrimp like this was probably my 2019 visit to Red's. I finally got to the key lime pie, and it may be time for me to officially revoke my status as a dessert agnostic. Serious about seafood, efficient in its operations and thankful for its customers instead of just cruising on reputation and location, Red's debunks the Chowhound.com "avoid waterfront views" paradigm.

Steve K.

Yelp
We had lobster roll with butter, fish and chips and scallops/shrimp. All were delicious. We sat outside with a nice view. Efficient service. Relaxing. Went early: 4:15. Got a great table. Many choices at that time. Dessert was banana cream pie with black bottom crust. Chocolate. Great all around.

Mark H.

Yelp
Well, we waited 45 minutes for a table but we had eaten here several times before so we didn't mind. Unfortunately, the steamed clams appetizer were so full of sand, even after dipping them in the broth, I couldn't eat them. The clams oreganata were unimpressive. We waited a long time for our entrees. The waitress apologized and said there were some large parties that the kitchen was working on and our order would be in the NEXT group of checks so basically not even started yet - almost an hour after we sat down. We both had the broiled shrimp platter which was completely bland. A decent sized portion an lovely atmosphere. Our server and the bus staff were very kind but I will not be coming back here any time soon.

Weijia L.

Yelp
The waterfront outdoor dining is surely an attraction. But the food was somewhat lacking. The highlight was our appetizer - tuna nachos: fresh lightly marinated tuna cubes against guacamole and chips, plated in a simple way. For entree, when I ordered at a restaurant for the first time with a fairly traditional menu, I usually went for something conservative because I'd rather play safe. So I had assorted seafood and I opted for deep-frying as opposed to broiling. The breading was a bit too thick but everything was cooked properly. The scallops were done right. Others had filet mignon and lobster with scallops added. The beef looked a bit sad based on the coloring on the sear. The side of vegetables that came with it looked watery.

Julieann M.

Yelp
Hands down the best seafood place we have been to on the shore. The whole lobster was well priced and so juicy. The lobster bisque was the best we have had. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. The Mac n cheese was very creamy and cheesy- my kids loved it . We are never disappointed with the food or service here. Great spot for bigger parties and for kids.
