The Least Annoying Restaurants In Nolita

"Regina’s Grocery isn’t a complicated place. It’s an Italian sandwich shop, and it’s a pretty good one. The original location is on the Lower East Side, but they also have a takeout window on Mulberry Street where you can grab some food to go. The signature sandwiches come with all your classic ingredients like fresh mozz, hot soppressata, roasted red peppers, and provolone, and there are also a few salad options. For an extra dollar, you can add some spicy Calabrian chili spread to your sandwich. Spend that dollar." - bryan kim

Regina's Grocery Review - Nolita - New York - The Infatuation

"Need a sandwich in Nolita? Head over to Regina’s Grocery. The original location is on the Lower East Side, but now there’s a takeout window on Mulberry Street. As is tradition in New York City, the sandwiches come packed with more meat and cheese than you should probably eat in one sitting, with options that range from hot soppressata with fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers to tuna with provolone and balsamic. There are also a few salads, in case you’d like some greens. Most things here cost around $15." - Bryan Kim

Google
Very cool, eclectic Italian sandwich shop. First, it's tiny but cozy and creatively decorated.... Two tables inside and one outside... I ordered a Italian tuna with arugula, peppers. I asked to remove the chili paste and balsamic (dietary reasons)... That probably pulled a lot of taste away but it was a solid sandwich... Staff was great and seemed to be attentive to the customers... Price wise the sandwich was $18 and the burrata upgrade was $4.. $2 for a water... 2.5% service fee (no clue what / that is).... So $24.60 for a sandwich before tip and tax... I would like to try their meat based sandwiches, mine was good but eve with the chili paste and balsamic, not sure if it would justify the price...

Google
In the mood for an Italian style sandwich and was on my way to Parisi but only to discover that it didn't open on Sunday lol....found Regina on Google Map - it is a success 😋 The place is super chill and I love love love the nostalgic decor. I wouldn't mind chilling here if not busy even tho this place is more for order-n-go. Food was good, generous sizing at a reasonable price. I managed to finish about 1/3 of the Big Anthony which was the first item I saw on the menu. Not my usual go-to but I adore the mustard punch tho wish it was stronger. Next time I will try my benchmark for Italian style sandwiches - tuna (Grandma Lucy) on the menu.

Google
Cute & quirky low key Italian sandwich spot with old school decorations. Food was prepped quickly and was delicious (got the tomato mozzarella which was the only veggie option but yum)!! A few tables for seating but super casual

Google
Big, tasty Italian sandwiches! I got the Uncle Jimmy and the ingredients were fresh and delicious! I wish that my sandwich came with a little more meat, but it was still really good (I especially loved the hot pepper spread!). A bit pricey, but the sandwiches are large.

Google
I hesitate to write this review, mostly because I want to support local businesses and I’ve eaten here about 20 times over the years. Unfortunately, the past two trips have confirmed what I feared to be happening: the quality and quantity of sandwich is cratering, especially for the price. To charge $16 for a razor-thin slice of dry prosciutto on stale bread isn’t justified, even on Mulberry. These sandwiches used to absolutely crush, and were filled with lots of ingredients. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, which super stinks. Hopefully we can turn it around!

Google
Sacha the owner was great !! The food was awesome! I highly recommend this place! The music, the heartfelt awesome quality of food was fantastic! He suggested the Jimmy Italian sandwich! It was so tasty scrumptious and spot on with great flavor!! When in Little Italy go to Regina!!

I ordered pickup and had an emergency and was late picking up my salad. They were so nice! They made me a whole new one! So kind and the food is excellent. My neighborhood goto!!

Google
Love their Uncle Jimmy sandwich. Lots of meat and has just enough kick from the chili sauce. The bread was delicious too amd portion was good to share with my friend. This place reminds me of my time in Italy, so I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
A large group of us ordered a variety of sandwiches for takeout to try. I had the Uncle John. It was filled with plenty of meat and a generous slab of cheese. My friend said it was too much cheese for her, so I got a double portion from her. I was a bit worried that there wouldn't be enough vinegar, but my sandwich had a nice balance of flavors and was delicious. The sandwiches aren't cheap, but I was able to split half with a friend and still be adequately full afterwards.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place was a slight miss for me. It looks better than it tasted. The bread was chewy and hard to eat I had to take the top layer off. The flavor inside wasn't bad. The cannoli's were also just okay. The inside was cute though. I would skip if visiting NY.

Yelp
We got the uncle Phil's and it was a solid sandwich. The prosciutto was high quality and using the balsamic glaze made it that much more special. The bread was a classic French baguette (the hero) and it had a bit of crunch with the firmness that you're looking for when you don't have a ton of ingredients. Service was fast and easy. The sandwich was a bit on the expensive side for what we got, but would go back. I'd like to give this spot a 3.5 because it was a good, standard sandwich but not one I'd be racing back for.

Yelp
Gave off classic NY vibes in the restaurant, very cozy. Cousin Anthony sandwich was a little dry (bread and meat) but experience was solid all around for good little shop.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC!! The staff are so friendly and the sandwiches are phenomenal. The Uncle Phil's is my favorite. Love this little spot!

Yelp
I have been craving a good Italian sandwich and thanks to Yelp and other suggested lists from Google, Regina's was highly recommended. It's a place that could be hard to miss, as the sign only says "Regina" and it's a small place. Nonetheless, it's on a busy street filled with tons of other restaurants. There is no AC and they have 2 small tables inside and 1 outside. It actually felt nice to sit outside and people watch. I got the Uncle Jimmy and my friend got the Grandma Lucy. I really liked both sandwiches, but actually preferred the Grandma Lucy because of the tuna. They are also really hard to eat and I can guarantee that food will get stuck in your teeth/mouth. The sandwiches are solid but overpriced for $17.....

Yelp
So i'll be honest, I have been to this restaurant twice, and both times I feel that the sandwich was just okay. Regina's is highly recommended from a few people I've spoken to, but honestly I've had much better throughout the city. Theres a location in Lower East side, as well as Nolita. The nolita location is a red door with Regina above. It's just a walk up window with a small table outside. You can sit outside and people watch while you're eating, but if anyones using that one table, then you will have to find a place on the street, like a stoop to sit on. The sandwiches are solid but overpriced for $17. I really don't think it should have this kind of price point. I've ordered the UNCLE JIMMY both times. I tried it the first time and didn't care for it too much, but I was craving an Italian sandwich in the neighborhood, and decided to give it a second try which solidified the same feeling I had the first time. The salami is really the only thing I can really taste in the sandwich, and honestly its just missing something. There's a lot in the sandwich, but it tastes pretty dry. It def needs more olive oil. Maybe another sandwich option would be better, I duno.

Yelp
Excellent Italian sandwiches. Cousin Cristina Sandwich - $16.99 (5/5) I ordered this with a BOGO deal over postmates and it did not disappoint. This was huge and packed with meat and cheese. I could barely finish! Everything was super flavorful and seasoned well. My only complaint would be that the bread was very hard to chew but that could just be because I got it delivered. Once I airfried it, it became so crispy and the whole sandwich became perfect! I would 100% order again!

Yelp
Just great. Top top quality. This is a destination for all NYers and visitors, get the eggplant when they have it it's excellent. Again, kinda expensive but it's NYC after all and again, if the quality is actually there then that's fine but if it's not you gotta stay away. The place is really cool inside and the people are so nice, happy to support and share my experince !!

Yelp
Little whole in the wall with amazing sandwiches we were hungry but not starving one sandwich fed both of us. Such amazing quality of food staff was very friendly. We loved this place so much and would be happy to go back. It a cute small little sandwich shop very vintage vibes.

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches. Friendly staff. Super pricey for the portion. Had the Uncle Jimmy and Uncle John. Both pretty good options when eaten relatively fresh.

Yelp
SOLID spot for a damn good SIMPLE Italian sandwich. The kicker is the bread, they have some very good bread. Its a small menu but its got all u need if you need a Italian sandwich
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent. Ingredients high quality and, at least for Soho, you're getting what you're paying for. It's a small shop, so food may not come out super quick, but worth the wait. They also don't skimp on the cold cuts! 5/5. If you like Italian sandwiches, this place is for you.

Yelp
Uncle Jimmy was excellent! Wound up trying Regina's because they were the only Italian deli in the area open past 4pm. You order at a window/doorway. I went back and forth between ordering Uncle Jimmy and Uncle John. They are very similar. Uncle Jimmy had the chili spread so that gives it a little kick. Maybe next time I'll try Uncle John.

Yelp
This is another little location not too far from the first one, selling the same excellent sandwiches. Right now you just go up to the window to order and take your stuff to go. They will add breakfast soon too, but for now you can't go wrong with any of their classic sandwiches. Don't sleep on the Cousin Anthony, with thinly sliced smoked chicken, fresh mozz, balsamic, olive oil and arugula.

Yelp
Ordered from uber eats was really good! I got the Roman sandwich with regular hero bread. Def is a great place to order from if you are in the mood for a good Italian sandwich will be ordering from here again !
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding sandwiches. Uncle John and Uncle Phil are devine. Planning to try every sandwich on the menu. You can't go wrong with any of them!

KGla A.

Yelp
Don't even try to order from this place, they will ignore all your preferences and will just grab an old sandwich from the fridge. For that price you can find much better options

Yelp
I had the Uncle Jimmy, and yes it was really good, all the internal ingredients of the sandwich were incredible BUT the most important element was also its worst. I felt like I was going to lose a tooth or pull my lateral pterygoid or masseter muscle when biting on and chewing the bread. Will need to come back to give it another shot/sandwich and see if they use the same bread for all their sandwiches or maybe it was just an off day.
google avatar

Lulu A.

Yelp
Just got the Rocco and Anthony, to go. The bread was so cold and hard I feel like I was going to rip a tooth out. Maybe if you're eating at home, pop it in the oven for 5 mins to warm it up? I will try this next time!

Yelp
Top tier New Yawk sandwich fuhgettaboutit. You can go walk to the pen store across the street and scribble some satisfying John Hancocks with some $50 piece of aluminum while you wait for this fantastic piece of food

Yelp
took a ride to mulberry st with cuz to grab a few italian sandwiches with gimmick names like cuz anthony, granny lucy and a few gimmicky names with a cost of 14 bucks each. place inside is tiny and ordering is done from outside toward a small open space. the menu is limited so i ordered the cuz anthony which is grilled chicken. mozzarella, olive oil, argula salad. the sandwiches are not bad but for 14 bucks they could stuff it a bit more like the italian deli shops on arthur ave. overall its ok sandwich shop but i would not go out of my way to visit.
