"A good day in Copenhagen starts with a simple sourdough bread roll. It’s usually served as a deconstructed sandwich with a slice of cheese and a swirl of butter, and then maybe a boiled egg, a piece of ham, or a dollop of jam. You can find this morning platter at almost every bakery in the city, but one of the best is served at Lido, along with other baked goods like kimchi crepes and pistachio-filled pastries. Lido is just a short walk from one of the dedicated swimming areas in the harbor, so when then the weather’s good, you can go for a post-breakfast dip after your meal—another way people here like to start their day." - Mary Holland
"Socioeconomic equality and dinner make excellent bedfellows, or at least they do at Lola. The restaurant strives to take care of its staff with a new approach to the kitchen hierarchy that places an emphasis on inclusion and a work/life balance. If you just want a great meal, however, Lola also delivers. The menu is influenced by the culturally diverse team who devise it, with dishes like Ecuadorian-inspired ceviche served alongside unagi-style eggplant with black sticky rice. Based near the famous Freetown Christiania and keen to remain a neighborhood spot that serves every member of the community, this place is always welcoming. The restaurant’s terrace is situated on the forest-like banks of the Christianshavn lakes - where residents of the semi-autonomous region have built eccentric wooden houses - which is the perfect spot for an aperitif with a blanket before dinner." - sorcha mccrory

"This laid-back restaurant is set within a 17C former windmill on the old city ramparts and comes complete with gardens, a terrace and even a pétanque pitch! The original, globally inspired dishes make use of quality local ingredients and are bursting with freshness and packed with flavour. At lunch, choose from a simpler smørrebrød menu." - Michelin Inspector

"Chef Kamilla Seidler Trebbien was a protégé of Noma founder Claus Meyer, and she worked as head chef of Meyer’s social restaurant project Gustu in La Paz, Bolivia, where she earned the Latin America’s Best Female Chef award from the World’s 50 Best organization. Some traces of her time in South America are visible in the flavors and techniques at Lola, Trebbien’s own restaurant, located on a beautiful hill in Christianshavn. Dinner here is best spent filling the table with medium sized dishes like broccoli with mole, followed by a dessert empanada with tangy Danish cheese. Don’t miss the butter naan. At lunch time the menu changes completely, bringing in a large selection of smørrebrød." - Anna Norström, Gabe Ulla

"During a lunch event held with Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Danish chef Seidler announced that she is opening her own restaurant in Copenhagen called Lola, sometime this year." - Nadia Chaudhury
